Anthony Joshua is absolutely furious with this decision. "You are not skilled, how did you beat me?" Joshua tells Usyk. Usky is not skilled fighter definitely, but he is a great fighter |
Boland:Na, You're wrong Usyk is a great fighter They only guy that can do justice to him is non other than Fury |
USYK RETAINS THE IBF, IBO, WBA (SUPER) AND WBO HEAVYWEIGHT TITLES. |
Fury will still deal with the two of them mercilessly together ![]() |
Usyk wins by split decision! There's a moment of drama as the scores are read out, with Joshua awarded a 115-113 decision by the first judge. However, Usyk is awarded it 115-113 and 116-112 by the other two judges, and the Ukrainian retains his titles.
|
Usyk wins by split decision! I thought as much It can't be unanimous decision |
What a performance from both men
|
Usyk sinks to his knees in the middle of the ring at the final bell. He thinks he has done enough to retain his titles. We will soon find out if he's right. |
To the judges' scorecards.... |
Round 12 - Usyk outworks courageous Joshua Usyk has Joshua on the back foot early but the Brit courageously comes forward and momentarily stops his opponent in his tracks. Joshua doesn't have enough left in the tank to sustain the attack, and it's Usyk who repeatedly lands in the closing minute. The Ukrainian has surely done enough to retain his titles! |
The speed and movement from Usyk at times has been exceptional. We've got three minutes left and you get the feeling Joshua is going to need the best three minutes of his life if he's going to regain his belts. |
Everyone around us has Usyk in some sort of lead, AJ needs the knockout |
Round 11 - Tight round not enough for Joshua Usyk controls the early stages of the round but Joshua once more finds success as he lands to the body. It's a pretty even round, but with Usyk surely ahead on the cards, that's not enough for Joshua at the moment. Can the Brit produce a miracle in the final round?
|
A short left from Usyk finds the mark. Both men have had to show a great chin at times. One shot could still send this either way. Both throwing, both looking to land something decisive. |
Usyk attacks once more, landing at will at the end of the 10th. Joshua had a stunning ninth, but Usyk, showing why he's the champion with a brilliant 10th. But Joshua still did manage one great punch himself. However, that could still be a soul-destroying round for Joshua. Two rounds to go. Joshua needs something special and quickly. |
Usyk finding an answer for everything Joshua throws his best and Usyk comes right back, must be demoralising, particularly at this stage of the fight. |
Round 10 - Usyk comes out on top in thrilling round What a round! Oleksandr Usyk responds in style to Joshua's best period of the contest, and has the Brit badly shaken for the first time in the fight. Joshua looks in deep trouble before a big right hand of his own suddenly leaves Usyk looking trouble once more. But after some brief respite, it's Usyk who's back on the attack in the final stages, once more leaving Joshua in trouble. Can Joshua recover from that? |
Brilliant hook from Joshua though. Usyk is rocked backwards. That one landed, and how. Brilliant from Joshua. |
A great response this from Usyk |
Joshua smiled at the end of that ninth, but Usyk has started the 10th well, landing with some hooks himself. |
Usyk gets through the ninth but is that the turning point. Joshua with, by miles, his best work of the contest, catching Usyk four or five times without answering. Usyk is having to go backwards trying to escape the danger. Into the 10th. |
Round 9 - Joshua has Usyk in trouble! What an effort from Anthony Joshua! He finally breaks through the defences of Usyk and gets his opponent on the run. Usyk is forced to hold on as Joshua stalks him around the ring. The Brit is unable to land anything truly clean, but has the sustained attack taken something out of Usyk? |
Joshua on the attack, his best action of the night. |
