WOMEN IN TECH WEEK, PORT HARCOURT

Women in Tech Week, Port Harcourt. An Independently Organized Women in Tech Week Event is set to hold on Friday 22nd (Facebook LIVE) and Saturday, 23rd of September 2017 at Swiss International, Mabisel Hotel Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

This event is a part of the Women in Tech Week brings together women entrepreneurs and women in the technological space from all over the world and will be a great opportunity for women globally to come together to network, share and empower each other to improve and push forward Africa’s technology growth agenda.

If you are a Woman who uses Tech, a Woman Interested in Tech, a Woman in Entrepreneurship and you live in Port Harcourt then plan to attend to celebrate the Women in Tech Week.

Women in Tech Africa seeks to build a harmonious community of enlightened women, build consensus, network, learn from each other and provide outside-the-box thinking platforms and not to score acrimonious point, visit unresolvable disputes among members or any other person(s).

This events will bring together over 10,000 women virtually with physical events in Ghana, Nigeria, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Canada, Germany, Belgium and China.

I am a Virtual Assistant (VA) who support businesses by offering digital marketing services, managing online communities and customizing WordPress sites.

I agree with you and I often tell those looking to go into business, the first thing you need is not money. I am a virtual assistant and I train and coach people who want to support businesses like me. SO here's a quick question. What are your skills, interests? What are you passionate about. That's a good place to start from.

Building my Information Technology career has been challenging and interesting, from getting my MSc in Information Systems and Technology, to attending Web design, software development and digital marketing trainings. With too many information out there, it has been so hard to actually focus and build an area but finally I am at that place where I can do the things I love that is, setting up websites for my clients and helping them reach their preferred customers.

Sometime last year, I decided to host my own website and get clients and I got a cpanel hosting plan from a very popular hosting provider of course outside the country. And after a while, I met a programmer who graciously agreed to teach me VB.Net programming but advised that my cpanel plan won't work and that I need windows hosting. I went ahead, cancelled my cpanel hosting, made more payment and got a plesk package.

In my opinion, Port Harcourt is a growing city as regards to Information Technology. Over the past years, most businesses have sourced web design and hosting services from outside the city and country.
