Quran identifies some christians who are compationate and are beloved to the believers (muslims). Please read sura Maidah (82) i:e chapter 5 verse 82.

Also read chapter 3:113, speaks of not all christians and Jews are alike. There are good and obedient ones who rehears praises of God day and night and are not arrogant.

Islam does not want Muslims be lazy either.

Everyday is work day for Muslims

As a fella rightly quoted (Quran) up there, it's clear enough that Muslims can work on Jum'ah (friday).

The only break we must respect is within the hours of obligatory congregation salat(prayer) which lasts an hour or less.

This means Muslims can work before and after prayer on Friday

However, for convenience, many seem to take the day off.

Like myself, my job's descriptions require that I go from place to place.

I usually know my schedules ahead. Therefore, if my location on Friday is close to a mosque and the hours is convenient, I go to work and go to mosque afterward.

If my job location is far from mosque or my schedule go south i simply inform my boss i cant make it and he respects that.

That's the way i work for years.

Recent months however, I work long hours and consecutive days. So I simply informed my "scheduler" to take me off Fridays. That's more convenient for me.

What i do disagree with fellow NL comments above me is they have ulterior motives with their comments. They quickly linked this innocent thread with current world crisis. That, i think, is very silly.

Fridays are special days in islamic countries without considering the Christians there why should others make the same adjustment for the muslims?

After all they are all free to go to the mosque on fridays, Salah's are observed as holidays by everybody in Nigeria..

Maybe Scandinavian religious adherents would then demand Thursdays become special days.

And considering every religion and their days of observations then we would have the 7 days of the week as special days..

African traditional religion have festive days and special days but i don't see people observing those days as special days even when we are in Africa.

If anybody should complain then it should be AFRICAN TRADITIONAL RELIGION not islam...

The level of massive harm this religion is doing worldwide on daily basis is not enough for you yet. And you are here seeking more religious time for them.

Some Muslims in the north might probably be praying for the friday prayers to be scrapped cos thats when they bomb each other. And you that claim to be a Christian is asking for more on their behalf.

I'm a Christian but I think the Muslims in our world are being denied of something very huge.

On Fridays, which is Muslims holy day, it's still a full working day.

Christians on The other hand have Sundays off, 90% of people do not work on Sundays.

Personally I feel this is unfair to our Muslim folks, I can't imagine myself going to church in sunday then heading back to work.

Don't we think there should be a religious equity?

Maybe the work-free days should be friday - sunday.

Let's air our views on this issue please.
