Phones › Re: Surviving A Day In Lagos Without Your Charger by tkb01: 8:41pm On Sep 28, 2025 |
Hisashi: Anyone who has battled Lagos traffic knows the real test of a phone isn’t how many megapixels it has; it’s whether the battery can outlast the day. Between streaming music in traffic, endless WhatsApp groups, and the occasional ride hailing app struggle, a weak battery is the fastest way to get stranded.
That’s why savvy Nigerians often look for phones that don’t panic when NEPA does. Long battery life, a sturdy design, and quick charging are worth more than all the glossy ads combined.
Some newer models get this balance right. A phone like the realme C75, with its big battery and reliable performance, quietly takes away the daily “low battery” anxiety, making it easier to survive Lagos traffic, power cuts, and everything in between. It's encouraging to see that it sticks through the day when in use moderately |

TeeTaiwo08: And for me, Realme makes sense for Nigeria: it has a strong 5000mAh+ battery 🔋, smooth performance 💾, sharp cameras 📸, supports our 4G/5G networks 📶, and is still very affordable 👌📱. This is so, so cool for a budget device! |

genius43: Realme took a lot of the Transsion marketers. Sadly Xiaomi also have a few like them so there is no saint in the business as long as they sell their devices. It is just a game of numbers. Lol I'm not so surprised, average users care more about durability and battery life over specs as a midrange device and realme offers that with a touch of sleek design so yeah it is almost too convincing to go their way. |

Phones › Re: Which Brand Makes The Best Phones For Nigerian Students? by tkb01: 8:03pm On Sep 28, 2025 |
I honestly agree with this... The less heard about brands like the Realme actually proves more in terms of quality build and pricing! bibistar07: Students need phone wey fit do everything:
Affordable (no go chop their whole allowance) 💸
Durable (survive rough handling) 🛡️
Strong enough for social media, school apps, even small gaming.
Most people go quickly say TECNO or Infinix. But Redmi and realme dey push phones wey fit compete well, especially for multitasking and battery life.
So if you be student, or you don buy phone for student before, which brand you go recommend?
This one fit guide plenty freshers and parents wey dey look for good option. |
Phones › Introducing The Realme C71: What It Brings To The Table! by tkb01(op): 7:59pm On Sep 28, 2025 |
Realme recently unveiled the C71 as a new budget-friendly smartphone aimed at users who prioritize battery life and practical features over flagship specs. The device leans heavily into endurance, resilience, and reasonable imaging at a modest price.
Below is a breakdown of its specs, performance expectations, and how it compares to competitors in its class.
Realme C71 — Key Specs & Features
Here’s what realme is offering with the C71:
Feature Specification
Body / Build 165.80 × 75.90 × 7.79 mm; ~196 g Display IPS LCD, HD+ resolution (≈ 1600×720), up to 90 Hz refresh rate Processor & Chipset Unisoc T7250 (12 nm) Memory / Storage Options of 4 GB / 6 GB RAM + 128 GB internal (expandable via microSD) Battery & Charging 6,300 mAh capacity + fast charging (advertised as 45 W in some markets) Rear Camera 50 MP (main) with AI enhancements, LED flash Front / Selfie 5 MP Other Features Water / dust resistance, “ArmorShell” protection, side fingerprint sensor, custom “Pulse Light” LED ring for notifications Software - Realme UI (based on Android) — in many markets it ships with or is upgradeable to the latest available version.
On Pricing Here are typical street / online pricing tiers:
6 GB + 128 GB version: ~ ₦165,400.
8 GB + 256 GB version: ~ ₦198,950 on Jumia / other retailers.
So expect to pay somewhere between ₦160,000-₦200,000 depending on variant, seller mark-ups, and promotions.
Competitors in That Price Bracket & How C71 Stands Out Here are some rival phones in Nigeria, and how realme C71 compares:
Competitor What It Offers How realme C71 Beats / Trades Off
Tecno Spark 30C: 120 Hz display, 50 MP rear camera; battery around 5,000 mAh. Price ranges ~₦146,000-₦166,000 for various RAM / storage variants. realme C71 offers larger battery (6,000 mAh), faster charging (45W vs slower charging on many Tecno models), and durability (MIL-STD, IP rating) which Spark often lacks. However, Tecno may have slightly sharper display resolution in some variants or better software familiarity for many users.
Other mid-tier Infinix / Samsung & Others: These brands have models offering full HD displays, sometimes more camera lenses, sometimes weaker charging. C71’s mix of features — big battery + fast charging + durable build + smooth 120 Hz display — fills a gap: for users who want performance and longevity without breaking the price range.
Overall Verdict: What Makes realme C71 a Strong Pick in Nigeria?
If you are shopping for a phone in the ₦160,000-₦200,000 range and care most about battery life, durability, and reliable performance, the realme C71 makes a strong case. It might not have all the bells of more premium models, but its balance of useful features makes it a standout for real, everyday Nigerian usage. |
