Properties / Re: Why Is Nigerian Architecture So Uninspiring? by TLore(m): 8:00pm On Feb 02, 2013
Architecture Student here. Spent 3 years in UNILAG engineering, now in UNILAG Architecture 100L. Why? Hated engineering.

I'll read all that has been said after posting this, so bear with me.

There needs to be a revolution. It's not the schools, I think. I'm in a class with a lot of bright minds. I think it's more or less because everyone out there in this country are mostly looking for something generic, or just a building so they can go about their business, maybe so they have to spend less, it's more or less the same state as Nigerian Soundtracks. Filmmakers are less willing to meet Don Jazzy for a soundtrack that costs 35K and would prefer to meet a JJC who just learnt music production who is willing to do it for 3K or less... but I digress.

I heard about an oyinbo architect that designed a mad building for a bank, and the reaction was "What the hell is this rubbish? Mo o fe kini yii o!" He had to tone down the design before they agreed.

All the same, Rome wasn't built in a day. I will never stop believing in this country. Little by little, the mentality of people is changing. I believe that in the nearest future, Nigerian architects will have the freedom to truly express their innovation. Afterall, look at some of GT Bank's designs. It could be better, but it's an attempt, and I applaud them.

tl;dr version: Nigeria has a lot of intelligent and bright minds. The problem is freedom of expression, methinks.
Education / Re: Are You A Student Architect Or You Know One? by TLore(m): 7:43pm On Feb 02, 2013
I know this is late, but I am now one.

I have to say, that picture's design is MAD. I love how all the interplaying elements come together.

I simply torrented it... And as it is an old game, some sites have it for free... I think.

Culture / Re: Distinguishing Physical Characteristics Of Nigerian Ethnic Groups by TLore(m): 12:47pm On Oct 19, 2012
Time has passed, so I'll say this: It's for a drawing project. All your answers have helped, but I want to know what to look for when drawing faces to make them look distinguished. I, for example can guess someone's origin based on their eyes and face. I used to have a social studies note about the subject in question (worldwide, the Czech look different from the Persians), but I lost it years ago, hence my asking.

TV/Movies / Re: Ideas For A Thriller Nigerian Made Cartoon Show by TLore(m): 11:57am On Oct 19, 2012
I have an idea for that myself. Make a comic, then find someone to animate it for me. The thing is, my ideas aren't geared towards children but towards teens and young adults. It can be done, but a way needs to present itself first.
Gaming / Re: Titi Tilapia: Nigeria's First Computer Game: Gameplay Video by TLore(m): 11:52am On Oct 19, 2012
I'm really liking this... The world needs to see that we Nigerians can make our own stuff. I have a few ideas for games myself but I can't use Blender too well yet. One thing I practice doing is making adaptive game soundtracks... Could I test one on split assassin?!

Culture / Distinguishing Physical Characteristics Of Nigerian Ethnic Groups by TLore(m): 5:17pm On Apr 26, 2012
Like the title says, what physical characteristics and features distinguishes us Nigerians? Like the way you see someone and know he's Calabar, or you see another one and know she's Fulani.

What are the physical features that makes one actually look Yoruba or Igbo, for instance? E.g. Shape of eyes, facial structure, forehead size etc.

Please answer, it's for a project.

E fit happen, sadly...
