##Copied##. The Difference Between Trials And Temptations by malvisguy212: 10:33pm On Jun 13, 2015 James 1:13-14, Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. There is a difference between a trial and a temptation, although both come from the same Greek word peirasmos. They are often used interchangeably, though. After all, temptation is a trial (of faith), and every trial is a temptation (to grumble). When the word appears in the New Testament the context helps us to see which interpretation is meant. There are therefore differences and similarities between trials and temptations. Although we must not push the distinctions too far, here are examples of the differences: 1. In their ultimate origin. Temptations come from the flesh; trials are sent fromGod. He allowed Satan to test Job (Job 1:6-12). Therefore when we speak of "trial" we see God's fingerprints; when we see temptation, we see our own the devil's. 2. In their immediate origin. Temptation comes from within; trials usually come from outside us. Job suffered physically, but inwardly at least at first there was no apparent struggle. 3. In their moral relevance. Temptation, when it is sexual in nature, has considerable moral relevance, but a trial may be what I would want to call morally neutral, such as illness or losing one's keys. 4. With reference to what is tested. Temptation will usually attack a weak spot; trials test our strength as well as exposing a weakness we may have been unaware of as with Job, who turned out to be so self-righteous. Any trial that God sends death of a loved one or friend, financial reverse, loss, illness, misunderstanding, losing your keys, failure, disappointment, betrayal, abuse, unemployment, depression, accident, loneliness, missing a train or plane, rejection, not getting that important invitation, or any physical pain should be seen as having our Lord's handprints all over them. |

Politics / Re: The Politics Of Fuel Pricing: How Nigeria Compares With The Rest Of The World by tobodex(m): 1:05pm On May 16, 2016 |
Well op that's a nice analysis, but the issue with Nigeria is that practically everything is attached and connected to fuel. In the sense that any alteration in fuel will affect practically everything: transport, food stuff, electricity, water, even offices and business centres will be affected increase, and these will lead to and increase in the prices of practically everything thing.....and even things that don't have business with fuel like house rent will also increase But the monthly salary is stagnant ( it does not rise with the rise in the prices of these affected things) it's the same year in year out, always, or as the case may be in some states now- were there were suggestions to even reduce the salary. So in a situation were am receiving N40,000 in 2007 and the increase in the price of fuel as caused "everything" to increase in price, I will still try to manage and survive; then after 3 years you decide to increase the price of fuel again and instead of increasing salary it remains the same or in some cases suggestions to reduce it, this will cause serious argument and negative reactions o. Most of the listed countries above their citizens are well paid. Now assuming you are collecting N40k monthly which is less than $200, and and you want me to buy fuel at $0.45/L, and I need 50L to fill my car and use for like 1week- ie 0.45 x 50= $22.5/wk x 4wks= $90 per monthly. Now other expenses are there o like utility, repairs, gas, housing, fees, school fee, the list goes on. So in such a situation were everything is increasing while the take home pay of the average Nigerian is stagnant, you will agree with me that tensions will rise due to increment in fuel pump price. But if the situation is simultaneous in the sense that as fuel pump price increases, the government and organisations increase the take home pay and salary of their staff to ease the forth coming expense, then there will be peace and people will be able to adjust their ways of living easily. So comparing Nigeria with the rest on the issue of fuel pump price a lot of things need to be put into consideration... God bless Nigeria |
