Politics / Fayose Reinstate Suspended Ssg by tochilastborn(m): 6:34am On Dec 06, 2015
Fayose reinstates suspended SSG
Following entreaties by the Ewi of Ado- Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi 111, foremost lawyer, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) and the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti, Right Revd. Felix Ajakaye and others, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has lifted the suspension placed on the Secretary to the State Government, Dr (Mrs.) Modupe Alade.
The personalities pleaded on behalf of the SSG during the celebration of the 25th coronation anniversary of Oba Adejugbe Aladesanmi in Ado- Ekiti yesterday.
The SSG, who was suspended some days ago for three months by the governor has therefore been pardoned and asked to resume duties tomorrow.
Setting the tone for seeking pardon for the SSG, the Ewi said his joy on the occasion would not be complete if the governor did not accede to the request.
In his response, the governor said he had no choice other than to defer to the emi nent personalities, but warned against indiscipline on the part of public officers and civil servants. He noted that though he is a kindhearted governor, he would not compromise discipline. Babalola, who was the chairman on the occasion, had listed the qualities that made Fayose excel as a governor.
“He is kind and listens to advice and wise counsel. He does not say he is the governor and would lord it over everybody. When the tipper drivers had issues with him over the N1000 levy, the drivers came to me to intervene and I called the governor on the phone. Though he was in Afao-Ekiti, he came down to Ado-Ekiti, and heeded my plea on behalf of the drivers and reduced the levy to N500,” he said. He described Fayose as a realistic and pragmatic person, who has brought those qualities to governance. He said with the dwindling revenue base of the government at all tiers, those in leadership positions have to put in extra efforts to meet the yearning and aspirations of the people. “Thank God that we have a governor that is realistic and pragmatic. When he says yes it is yes, and when he says no it is no. We have a governor that is truthful, honest and transparent, and that has been helping us in the state. It has also manifested in the recent award given the state govern ment. We have 36 states in the federation and a survey was conducted on budgetary implementation, and the Fayose-led government was rated as the most transparent in the country. Those states that call themselves big rated low on the scale. This shows that the governor has been handling the affairs of the state well,” he said.
Babalola, who is also the founder of the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), called on the people to return to the farm, saying agriculture was the surest way out of unemployment and poor revenue in the country.
In his speech, Fayose, who was the guest of honour, promised to attend any similar event organised in honour of any traditional ruler in the state.
“The governor is for all traditional rulers and people of the state. I want to assure our royal fathers that an occasion like this is not limited to Ado as many of our royal fathers who are having such a great event like this, the governor is at your beck and call. Ado is central to us as a state and I am for all royal fathers and any event that tells the history of your existence, I will always be part of it. I also promise that by God’s grace, the new Ojaba Market, if not completed by this time next year, will be near completion,” he said.
In his remarks, Oba Adejugbe Aladesanmi 111 thanked Fayose for his tremendous efforts at developing Ado-Ekiti and the state at large.
“Ado people cannot thank you, Governor Ayodele Fayose enough. You have helped us a great deal and we pray that God will continue to support and bless you.

Crime / Former Nimasa Boss In Fresh Trouble by tochilastborn(m): 7:22am On Dec 05, 2015
The embattled former Director General (DG) of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Patrick Ziadeke Akpolobokemi, was again on Friday, arraigned before Justice Ibrahim Buba at the Federal High Court, Lagos, on 22-count charge bordering on alleged theft of N2, 569, 457, 666. 60 billion.
The immediate past NIMASA DG was docked along with Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba; Ekene Nwakuche; Governor Ameche Juan; Blockz and Stonez Nigeria Limited and Al-Kenzo Nigeria Limited by the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Recall that Akpolobokemi and nine others were also docked on Thursday before Justice Saliu Saidu of the same court on a 30-count charge of alleged theft of N3.4 billion.
All the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and admitted to different bail conditions.
Justice Buba however ordered that they should all be remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, while he adjourned the case till January 29, 2016, for trial.
However, in the new charge Akpolobokemi and his co-accused also pleaded not guilty to the charge proffered against them by EFCC.
In the new charge marked FHC/L/511c/15, the EFCC alleged that Akpolobokemi along side Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba; Ekene Nwakuche and Governor Ameche Juan, had on or about February 4, 2014, did conspire to commit the act by converting the said sum, property of NIMASA, which was derived from stealing.
The accused persons were also alleged to have with intent to defraud conspired by inducing the Federal government of Nigeria to approve and deliver the said sum, under the false pretence that the money represented the cost for the implementation of the International Ship and Ports Security (ISPS), Code in Nigeria Ports.
The alleged offences according to the anti- graft agency prosecutor, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, are contrary to sections 15(1), 18(a) 8(a), 1(b) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012, and punishable under section 15(3) and 1(3) of the same Act.
Following the plea of the accused persons, the EFCC prosecutor, Mr. Oyedepo, urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending the determination of the charge.
But the lawyers to the accused persons led by Dr. Joseph Nwobike, SAN, urged the court to admit the accused persons to bail in the most favourable terms.

Celebrities / Flavor And Chidinma Go Sensual On Stage by tochilastborn(m): 7:07am On Dec 05, 2015
When you think of Chidinma, the Kedike star,
what comes to mind is that little naïve, reserved
girl still waiting to break away from her
mother’s tender grip.

But the petite songstress is pushing beyond
that boundary and showing that anything can
happen when it comes to her brand.

At the recently held concert hosted by Phyno
tagged Phynofest, the duo of Chidinma and
Flavour took their “Chemistry” to another level.

Before now they have been pictured in
compromising positions and the idea of them
dating has been denied severally.

During the concert held at Onitsha, they
performed their duet Ololufe and shared a kiss
after the performance.
This didn’t go well with some of Chidinma’s
fans as they took to her Instagram page to
express their disapproval.

One of them writes: “If you two are dating, let
us know and stop forming church-girl.

Another adds: “Is this how you guys would be
kissing whenever you perform Ololufe?”

Politics / The Brutal Murder Of Soldiers by tochilastborn(m): 8:34pm On Nov 27, 2015
These pictures emerged from a Nigerian soldier
currently on assignment where the murder of his
colleague took place.
Though he was
subsequently threatened to remove it, we
already succeeded in getting the screen shot
from our source. Earlier, the Nigerian army
refuted the news of the missing 105 soldiers,
but more pictures emanating from some serving
soldiers counter such claims.
It’s a pity that the army has been busy dishing
out falsehood to some gullible members of the
public and families of slain soldiers. It will be
worthy if truth be told and deceit be shove aside
to maintain the trust reposed on the Nigerian
army as it might lead to a fallout of trust from
the citizens

Romance / Man Loses Belongings Over Wife’s N4k Bank Debt by tochilastborn(m): 8:08pm On Nov 27, 2015
Man Loses Belongings Over Wife’s N4k Bank Debt.
It was a sad experience for Segun Adeyemi after he discovered that his belongings were carted away by a micro finance bank over a N4,000 debt owed by his wife in Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The incident happened at their residence at 3, Adeyeye street, Megida area of Ayobo Ipaja on the outskirts of Lagos. P.M.NEWS learnt that among the items the bank carted away include their matrimonial bed, plasma television, refrigerator, generator, cooking utensils, cash and other valuables kept in the house. According to Segun, his wife Remilekun Adeyemi, who is a petty trader, went to the management of Bisi Cash Micro Finance Bank whose office is located at Onifade Road Junction in Ayetoro, Ogun State and borrowed N40,000 to start a business. He said before she was given the loan, the management first deducted their own interest from the loan and gave her the balance. P.M.NEWS also gathered that Remilekun also entered into an agreement to be remitting some amount of the money every week untill she finished paying back the entire loan. P.M.NEWS also learnt that once a loan beneficiary defaults, all such person’s property will be consficated, which is the fate Remilekun has suffered along with her husband. According to her, she had been dutifully paying the money until it remained N4,300 balance last week. She said she was unable to pay last week after their son fell sick and was rushed to a hospital. While she was on her way to the hospital, the management of the bank invaded their home and carted away all their household items. When Segun went to the management to know why they did so, they told him that his wife breached the agreement. They told him that he was also liable because he knew about the loan and stood as surety for his wife. When he offered to pay the money in order to take back his belongings, they refused and claimed that the property now belonged to them. When our reporter went to their office on Thursday, the staff confirmed the incident and said it was part of the agreement the woman entered with them. Efforts to contact the manager identified as Shade failed as she refused to speak on what transpired. She said they seized the property because of the debt she owed the bank. P..M NEWS investigation revealed that it was not only Segun and his wife that have found themselves in such predicament. Many other women whose belongings were seized were seen in the bank premises bemoaning their plight. pls lawyers in the house what should be done about this

SENATOR NNAJI MAKE CASE FOR ISIUZO COUNCIL AREA OF ENUGU STATE
The attention of the federal government has been drawn to the difficulties currently being experienced by the rural peoples of Isi-Uzo local government of Enugu State following the collapse of Ebenyi River Bridge in Ikem.
Presenting a motion on RECURRING COLLAPSE OF BAILEY BRIDGES NATIONWIDE, Senator Gilbert Nnaji called on the federal government through the Federal Roads Maintenance Authority (FERMA) to urgently re-construct the fallen bridge.
Prince Nnaji noted that the collapse of the bridge which connects several communities in Enugu State as well as Ebonyi, Benue and other northern states has caused untold hardship “for commuters, motorists and other road users; as they have to terminate their journeys at different ends of the river and then swim across to the other end to continue their journeys.
He further urged federal ministry of Power, Works and Housing to conduct immediate census of all Bailey bridges nationwide with a view to reconstructing them as a proactive measure against possible loss of lives and properties in the areas where they still exist.
Addressing journalists shortly after plenary, Senator Nnaji hinted that “ the Obollo Afor-Ikem- Eha Amufu-Nkalagu Road which is the nearest alternative route for commuters, motorists, road users, natives, farmers, etc. is still below 30 per cent completion and therefore unusable leading to the rechanneling of traffic into Ikem-Neke- Ugwuogo Road thereby causing undue pressure on the road and brigde; He expressed optimism that this motion would also generate further government interest on the Obollo Afor-Ikem-Eha Amufu-Nkalagu Road towards speedy completion. It would be recalled that the people of Amafor- Ugbawka in Nkanu-East LGA suffered similar fate for years until Senator Gilbert Nnaji came to their rescue when he personally constructed a massive concrete bridge replacing the make-shift arrangement in place by community efforts. Bailey bridges which were developed and used during the Second World War were built in Nigeria during the pre- and post-independence era up to few years after the Nigerian civil war, to provide temporary crossing for foot and vehicle traffic. They were made from pre-fabricated metal truss and installed in various parts of Nigeria and pose the risk of either caving in or collapsing due to age and pressure, thereby causing untold hardship to commuters, motorists and other road users.
After debates across party line, senate finally mandated its Committee on Works to undertake an inventory of all Bailey bridges nationwide with particular attention to their year of construction and current status and to invite the Minister of Power, Works and Housing to brief the Committee on a viable plan of action for the reconstruction of all Bailey bridges nationwide and to report back to the Senate within 4 weeks; and then directed the Federal Roads Maintenance Authority (FERMA) to urgently re- construct the collapsed Bailey bridge across Ebenyi River at Ikem in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State as well as other collapsed Bailey bridges across the country.
