TravelRe: Likely Questions By Usa Consular During Interview For Tourist Visa And Response by Tofunmi2: 8:59pm On Mar 29, 2015
Dear visa officer
Hello friends
Pls I need an urgent advice on my coming non immigrants US visa interview.
I am temporary residents in South Africa with valid permit
I applied for tourists visa in 2012 Dec but was refused. During d interview the consular asked me about my intention I told him my cousin invited me for December holiday and immediately he started telling me the stories about my cousin, that he got married in US to get citizenship I was shocked by his attitude but maintain my composure. Later he calm down and ask me 2nd questions about myself. I was glad at least,he asked me about my job, length of my permit but still denied me.
Anyway it 2 yrs + now and I am going on a conference. I am married with 2 children, gat a job, I am travel to Nigeria. What do I expect? What are my chance?
Thanks

Hi funkybaby.
I have decided to withdraw my passports because I really need them so bad since I have to renew my permit here in SA.
But what baffle is dat they have not reply my email notifying them of my intention to withdraw unlike before when I ask for
Application status.
From the house does it take long to return passport again?

Oga ooo funn this uk self.

Cheers
funkybaby: Yeah, it must be really frustrating and annoying for you.

Just hope for the best although to be honest it doesn't look too good....... The conference you planned attending is over, it's taken them over 10 weeks to conduct local checks and yet your application is pending.

If you decide to withdraw your application, you will forfeit the visa processing fee you've paid. So just wait and keep praying smiley

Hi funky
Thanks
I av given some reasons like I couldn't do inside banking transactions and travel plans to home country since I'm in SA. All to no avail.
All they tell me is pls be patient, its being process,we are conducting local checks, or if u can't wait u can withdraw your application.

I tire
But God dey and His ways are not same with man's.

Cheers!

funkybaby: asking for your passport back means you are withdrawing your application. the passport is usually held on to for the entire time the application is ongoing.

the UK peeps are quite clear on that.

the only thing you can do is to contact them and explain why you need your passport back urgently and this might speeden up the processing time.

Dear target 007 and Dis Guy,
Thanks

I can hold on up till 25/10/2013, which by then my application would av been 10 weeks.

After then I will ask for the passport regardless.
I just wonder why " local checks" or " being processed" can take a country like Uk this long.

Its unfair.

Tofunmi2
Vicjustice: They will not necessary cancel his application, the application can still go on, they'll contact him to bring back the passport if the application is sucessful.
There are actually some instances in which an application may be cancelled due to passport withdrawal: it all depends on circumstances and the sensibility of the application

Tofunmi2: Hello ALL
Congrats to those dat have collected their visa.
For me I av applied for 7 weeks now.
Still under process.
The date for d conference don pass.

Uk visa south africa still tells me they are conducting local checks on my application.
ECO even said I can withdraw if I can't be patient.
Please I need your advise ooo
Dis Guy: Are you based in South Africa?
What the processing time like in South Africa?

I think you should ask for your passport back if you need it urgently considering your activity is way past
Thanks for your suggestion.
I live and work here with the South African Government.
On the VFS/Uk visa website, processing times for visa is 15 working days for 90% applicants and 15 to 30 working days for 98% applicants.
Mine don pass these two categories.

Can I request for my passport and still tell them to carry on with the processing?
Will they still grant me after such a delay as other ghanians we apply together as collected theirs in 15 working days?
Thwn what are my future chances?

God bless u ALL.

Tofunmi2: Its a pleasure to join d forum.
I applied late for a church conference in uk. 2 weeks b4 d date.
Was hoping my visa would be ready -n 15 days but up till now, more than 6 weeks.
Uk embassy in pretora, south africa has not finalize, say they are conducting checks on my application.

I am worried that I am already behind time.
Please advice.
