idonhear: I am also thinking if we can apply for VISA before the pregnancy becomes so obvious...what do you think? If you read through this thread, you will know that the best thing to do is never to conceal the pregnancy, make sure you tell them at the embassy that you are going for childbirth. It does not matter if she has travelled before or not, just read through to know what are required. It is also a good option to apply now for the visa, so that even if denied ( I do not pray so) you would have enough time to reapply. |

OmoBendel24: Nice one. I can almost guess where that flight is headed from, and to! But just check out same ticket options with wakanow and see what the difference looks like. Buying directly from the airline remains the best option though, but not always the cheaper option. I disagree with you, the ticket at BA as I was told by the customer care I called amounted to 274,750 but its bank that will use their own exchange rate of 322 against BA 314 as at that day. When you book with agents, at the point of payment, it is not the same price you see at their site that you pay too. |

XX01: I used my bank card. But know your bank rates before they shock you like they did me. I checked Diamond bank 2 days before I used my card and it was 385. Only to pay for a friend's ticket to UK and they charged me 410. Shocked was an understatement. They have cheap tickets but the bank rate will make all the difference. Calling the customer care and booking over the phone and paying with Naira cash at GTB makes a lot of sense. I just paid today for a flight of 845 dollars plus 30 dollars service charge for booking over the phone, making it a total of 875 dollars, but I paid a total of 281,775.76 at GTB, this means that they charged only 322 naira per dollar. I think its good. |

bissiejoe: BA is a long story o, I was at the office today at Ikoyi. The security told me I have to use a dollar card to pay online after booking that Naira card is no longer acceptable. He gave me a second option of booking on the phone but with extra 30$ charge. I eventually called the customer care number displayed in their office and spoke with one Indian guy who couldn't pronounced English alphabets very well and made my booking. He gave me the reservation code and adviced I pay before 72hrs at any gtbank branch. You might want to try this option too, just make sure you spell out the names clearly to whoever picks your call and also your travel dates to avoid mistakes because I am sure you will definitely speak to an Indian. All the best Pls could you send the number to me at adasky4u@gmail.com also, did you pay the extra 30 dollars. Pls help the time is running out |

happytbaby: The airport is a free place , no one will chase you but it is not convenient for a pregnant woman to stay sit sleep there.
You can still get a cab to your destination or book an airport hotel and take a cab to it. I hope this helps. Ok, thank you. |

lively123: TOKNOW, 1.you either apply for visa or passport, you said you're cutting cost, why do you need a passport and a visa for the baby? 2. You're applying for a visa for the baby, you're to sent the baby's US passport where the visa will be printed, the photocopy of your passport should just include the supporting documents 3. i have answered that 4. you're traveling with the baby right? na una flight itinerary except baby can travel alone. Thank you, I understand better now. |

firsttymum: 1. U need the passport to apply for visa. Therefore u have to do the passport first. 2. The child's 3. The passport itself wld b submitted 4. The parents
Modified By passport I assume u are talking about American passport. But if it's Nigerian passport u don't need a visa if d child or children have a naija passport Thanks a lot, I now understand better, I used to think that for a baby born in US, I would get a Nigeria passport for the child and then get a Nigeria Visa on it, but now, I have understood that its basically the baby's American Passport and then a Nigeria Visa on it. Thanks a bunch. |

Lajoie33: Congrats to all new mamas! Just checking in. Please I have a question: since my son is a citizen, is he entitled to any aid like Medicaid or CHIP? The bills are running HIGH. Just MRI is $5k and this does not include the anesthesia he was given for the procedure or radiologist bill. And that's just 1 of the many tests and procedures he's been through. I'm talking setting up payment plan and the hospital staff are advising I get him a Medicaid no. Using his social security, because they forsee bills running really high... Abeg everyone help me before I make a wrong decision. I'm so distressed right now. I really understand how you are feeling right now as a human being and as a mother. It will not be normal if I tell you not to be distressed, but I can only tell you to hold strongly to God, He is the only one to calm your distresses right now. Just remember also that we are praying for you, in the end, you will give testimonies. |

Good day wonderful people, pls for clarification purpose. I have gone through the Nigeriahouse website for procedures for processing Nigeria passport/Visa for baby, here are my questions and I would appreciate your answers:
1. Do I apply separately for the passport and the Visa, or do both come at once? 2. The passport required to be submitted for processing the visa, is it the child's US passport or the passport of the parents? 3. If its that of the parents, is it the original copies or the photocopies? 4. The flight itinerary required, is it that of the parents or the child's?
Thank you for anticipated responses. |

Lajoie33: long post alert
I got into Houston this week. My initial plan was to enter in September, I had already bought ticket sef but we discovered that my child had a tumor... See eh, when something strong happens, you just have to drop everything in God's able hands and start working in harmony with your faith. So I changed my tickets, DH got emergency tickets, we gathered ourselves to Houston. We flew Emirates.
I asked for wheelchair assistance and trust me, that made A HUGE difference especially since my son decided to remain hyperactive and fear did not let me sedate him because of the tumor. Flight was ok but I was tired, my feet was swollen, even with compression socks o. Anyway thats how we landed in Houston. Me, DH and my son (He's a citizen) were rolled to the POE
CBP: Good afternoon Can I have your passports and landing card DH: Good afternoon (hands them over) CBP: What are you here for?
DH: My son has a mass on his neck and needs to see a doctor I quickly remind him about me DH: And my wife is hereto deliver our baby. CBP: Ok,put your fingers here... we do CBP: looks at our landing card. Do you have snails? DH: yes we do CBP: Ok you didnt tick here (shows DH where to tick, he does) CBP: You'll have to pass through agriculture on your way out, youre free to go.
I was still waiting for secondary inspection when they wheeled me to baggage collection, I kuku released the lady and helped DH carryour bags to agriculture. They passed our bags thru the x-ray machine and told us to go, nothing was searched or seized. Now were seeing different specialists for my son and Im waiting for my scheduled appointment. Its well with your son, everything will sure be fine by the grace of God. |

ultimatebas: @ TOKNOW. Baby took in amniotic fluid, one of his lungs collapsed at birth, wasn't breathing well (although naa their report no be God report). Baby was on oxygen for 2 days and was given antibiotics . The story too long. I was busy screaming that they should give me my baby after my baby had stayed there for 3 days, because i remembered a lady's bill here (on NL) was about $200,000. I was in a dilemma, i wanted the best for my baby and i also didn't want my baby to stay there too long. Was so perturbed but later that day, we got a very good news that our baby was fine but still required monitoring of his sugar level and would be discharged the following day. The following day wifey and baby were discharged.I realised the importance of giving birth abroad when we got to Nijja ,because my wife's friend had a baby that took in amniotic fluid and the baby died the following day. We are so grateful to God . Cheers Thanks be to God for everything. CONGRATS once more |

ultimatebas: Good day everyone, My family and i got back to nija on the 31st of July but was kind of busy. DW travelled from Lagos to Houston via UNITED on the 29th of May and arrived on the 30th DW was on the queue for about an hour before she got to the CBP officer.
CBP: What are you here for ? DW: Birth tourism CBP: (Stood up and looked at her stomach) Oh! you are pregnant. DW: Yes CBP: How long are you staying? DW: A couple of weeks CBP: Be specific DW: 8 weeks CBP:Why did you choose to have him here? DW: Because of better healthcare CBP: Are you sure it is not because you want your child to be a citizen? DW: No, because of better healthcare.
Then DW was sent for secondary inspection
DW sat there for almost 2 hours before she was called into another office by another officer
CBP: Why are you here? DW:To have my baby CBP: How much do you have on you? DW: about $8000 CBP: Can i see the money DW: (showed him the money) CBP: Did you take loan from the bank? DW: No CBP: Can i see your doctor's correspondence DW: Yes ( Gave it to him) CBP: Where do you intend to stay and how long? DW: (Told him) CBP: Can i see your Bank Statement DW: (Didn't have so she showed him my online banking platform) CBP: Have you been here(US) before? DW: Yes . Spent about 15 days in Orlando with my family from 20th Dec. 2015 to 5th of Jan 2016 CBP: Show me pictures DW: (showed him on her cell phone) CBP: Make sure you pay your bills before leaving okay. Have your passport and have a nice day.
We actually wanted BVAC that was why we changed from Doc F to Doc E because Doc F doesn't do BVAC. (Thank God DW changed because i read your bad reviews on Doc F a fortnight ago). But as God may have it after @ 39 weeks Doc E said DW should do a CS because it wasn't advisable to wait any further.
The hospital was Oakbend Medical Center Hospital bill :$ 3500( for CS) Doctor's bill: $2300 First test before delivery:$119.60 Brown & Associates bill:$210(After applying 40% discount) NICU (4 days):$ 3125.2 ( Initially it was about $5325 but i had to negotiate ) Epidural: $950
passport:$165 Birth certificate:$23 ETC: $370( $50 courier fee inclusive) Accommodation: $1,200 per room (shared sitting room and kitchen)
I have given back so i ain't owing you guys any more. Anyway, thanks everyone for the info i got from here . It was very helpful. Can't believe Nigerians can be this generous.

nefertitiram: One way tickets are more expensive.
And One way tickets will increase your chances of deportation from POE as there is no proof thet you will return to your home country.
Now what you should do is book a multiple destination ticket so that you can enter from one city and return from the city of your choice but make sure you have a return ticket ok, thank you. |
