And I ask what if a mermaid appear on the altar will the pastor point at the mermaid with the laptop? because we Christians knows how powerful the Bible is. it an argument though let's hear your take. happy Sunday beloveth. for your information, the bible is just a book. The life inside the carrier of the bible gives life to the book. If a man has no living word from the Spirit of God, the bible he carries is as intellectually useful and spiritually useless as 'SAGAY Law of Contract' |

seanet02: Buhari choosed an ibo as his vice in all the previous elections he has contested for yet at no point did he garner up to 5% of ibos vote. that was then, moreover his 2011 candidacy running mate was a yoruba. First, we have to consider that next years election now has a potent opposition more than the usual trivial threat posed by the opposition parties on the ruling party in the previous elections. Second, Buhari's party(ANPP and CPC) had never in any time registered its reasonable presence in the east in the previous contest, unlike now when the region has a governor and parliamentarians in his party. |

too bad we either going to end up with incompetent Jonathan or another dumb president for the next 4 or 8 years. seanet02: You don't get it. Even if Buhari choose the younger brother of Ojukwu or Azikwe, ibos are known to have been brainwashed and will never vote for him. Fashola or Osinbajo will do the deal. i never meant and said he will have edge over GEJ if a south-eastern running mate is chosen. Try to get me right bro. More votes in the sense that there will be more people in the state or region that will be sympathetic to the running mate. That is enough to increase the vote by units, tenses, hundreds or even thousands. A student that scored 39% in an exam will defintely understand how invaluable 1 mark is. |

It is an arrant nonsense for a leader of a region or geo-political zone to come out openly to declare a candidate a consensus candidate. Of course, that is enough to piss off other zones/regions.
Telling us a candidate is consensus to the North amounts to tribalising the chance of the candidate winning the election. |

Education › Jonathan Worried That No Nigerian University Is Ranked Among World’s Best 100 by Tolexander(op): 5:41pm On Dec 12, 2014 |
Ile-Ife (Osun) – President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday urged Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities to strengthen the existing internal security network in their institutions, he alsoxpressed regrets that no university in Nigeria had been ranked globally among the best 100 universities.
Jonathan gave the advice at the 40th Convocation ceremony of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife in Osun. Represented by Prof. Viola Onwuliri, the Minister of State for Education, Jonathan advised the vice-chancellors to be proactive in maintaining law and order.
He also urged the institution to be security-conscious to detect and arrest the activities of insurgent groups in their various campuses.
“You should strengthen the internal governance structures of the institutions and should create new ones if necessary to make them more sensitive and responsible to the needs and demands of staff, students and other stakeholders,’’ he said.
The president, however, called for dialogue between formal and informal groups in order to promote greater flow of information between staff, students and universities authorities.
He commended the university for having the best distance learning centre, cloud computing and telepresence facilities in the entire Nigerian university system as adjudged by the National Universities Commission.
Jonathan also expressed happiness over the institution’s outstanding performance for the third consecutive year, saying OAU had been adjudged as the best and number one university in Nigeria by the Webometric.
He expressed regrets that no university in Nigeria had been ranked globally among the best 100 universities, adding that this must be addressed. Jonathan, therefore, called on Nigerian universities to brace up and ensure they were counted among the Ivy League universities in the world.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Bamitale Omole, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders and members of the governing council for their support and commitment to the course of great Ife.
Omole appealed to the graduands to be good ambassadors of the university, and urged them to contribute positively to its development. He assured that the graduands had been equipped with values, orientations and work ethics that would make them succeed in all sphere of lives.

Politics › Court Fixes Jan. 19 To Hear Pdp’s Suit Seeking To Unseat Tambuwal by Tolexander(op): 5:24pm On Dec 12, 2014 |
Abuja – An Abuja Federal High Court has fixed Jan. 19, 2015 for hearing in a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to unseat the Speaker, House of Representatives , Aminu Tambuwal.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed adjourned the case on Friday after hearing the submissions of PDP’s counsel, Mr Mike Ahamba (SAN), Tambuwal’s counsel, Mr Mahmoud Magaji (SAN).
He also heard the submission of the counsel to the House of Representatives, Mr Jibril Okutepa (SAN).
The PDP had approached the court with a motion ex-parte seeking an order compelling the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, to declare Tambuwal’s seat vacant.
PDP’s suit was sequel to Tambuwal’s defection from the PDP to All Progressives Congress (APC) his refusal to vacate his seat and instead went to court to stop his removal.
The party, in the suit marked; FHC/ABJ/CS/901/2014, joined the Speaker, Tambuwal (individually) and Deputy Speaker, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, as co-respondents.
Ahamba said: “PDP wants an order of court compelling the Deputy Speaker to declare the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat vacant.’’
“An order of mandamus compelling Tambuwal to give effect to Section 68 (1) (g) of the 1999 Constitution by declaring his seat vacant having publicly resigned on Oct. 28.
“An order restraining him from performing or continuing to perform the function of House of Representatives Speaker, or sitting or continuing to sit in the House of Representatives as a member.’’
Justice Mohammed had on Dec. 1, granted leave to PDP to apply by way of a judicial review for an order of mandamus compelling Ihedioha to declare Kebbe/ Tambuwal Federal Constituency vacant.
The court further ordered the PDP to serve on the respondents, hearing notices and the substantive originating processes through the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
However, at Friday’s sitting slated for hearing, both Magaji and Okutepa said they received the service of processes from Ahamba only on only Dec. 9, adding that they needed time to respond.
A court clerk also informed the court that the Clerk was served with the court processes on Dec. 4.
He said that the purpose was for the clerk to transmit the court processes to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively as earlier ordered by the court.
The judge, therefore, adjourned the case until Jan. 19 for the clerk to transmit the court service to Tambuwal and Ihedioha for them to get set for hearing of the originating summons. (NAN) orisun |
