I know of a school management software package called EDUPORTAL developed by Omomat Fabricates Limited, an IT firm in Oyo State and the software has been deployed, used and tested 12months by 2 schools and its been just released for the open market. MODULES OF THE SOFTWARE

ADMINISTRATIVE CONFIGURATION MODULE: This feature ensures that the software is configured and customized to reflect the culture and modus operandi of the school. It includes the configuration of school particulars/details (name, logo, motto, address, school colours etc) session & term details configuration, grade details configuration, assessment details configuration which includes the types of assessment the school performs and subject details configuration amongst others.

ENROLLMMENT MODULE: Eduportal software comprehensively handles the registration of enrolled students into the Institution obtaining important data such as brief students’ bio-data, students’ school details such as class of admission, admission number etc, Contact address and phone numbers. It also has exciting features such as auto generation of registration/admission number, and broad based report formats which includes general admission list, admission list by application date, student listing by session, department, class, etc each detailing the year the student was admitted and class of admission are available features of the enrollment section.

COGNITIVE DOMAIN (ACADEMIC FEATURES) MODULE: It comprehensively evaluates the academic performance of students’ reflecting the Continuous assessment pattern in place by the school management to aid proper evaluation. It handles the score entry, score conversion and compilation process with automated generation of reports such as subject score sheets, broadsheet, and the general and individual students’ periodic and terminal report sheets.

AFFECTIVE DOMAIN MODULE: It takes care of all details in the affective domain (i.e. non academic qualities and developments in the students that is applicable to the Institution.

BILL FEATURES MODULE: It is to cater for the activities of the Bursary with respect to students’ fees. Terminal bills are scheduled for all classes, bills are then prepared taking into consideration the intricacies involved in different classes billed differently. During preparation outstanding payments are collated as arrears or advances and added. The bills can also be printed for each student. It covers all the possible modes of payment which includes drafts, check, cash, and direct bank payment using tellers. It also has the following features
i) allowance of gradual payment by students with an opening of a student’s account for each of the accounts that will/have been created for them by virtue of their created bills
ii) automatic reconciliation of students account to reflect arrears
iii) management reports to determine the balance of each students on the major account titles, an instantaneous check on the entire income of the school on the various account titles and the corresponding liabilities of students on same.
iv) ever ready students’ defaulters list on any of the bill items at for term and session that is requested.
v) statement of account for each of the student from their inception into the school.

MANAGEMENT FEATURES MODULE: This section constitutes features that help, the management or decision makers, to make major decisions on students’ performance, rating, bill transactions, debtor and creditor status, etc. It also gives academic history, class history and health history of the student (in the school) from which saved reports can be easily retrieved. It is highly useful when an administrative staff has to discuss a particular student as the aforementioned fields’ covers almost all the students’ activities within the school.

UTILITY MODULE: It handles utility operations such as user registration, user authorization, data back up and recovery, security features etc



WEB VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE
Web Portal is a platform which remotely provides a concurrent access to student’s academic performance by the stakeholders in the education sector of which parents are the primary goal. In a nutshell it showcases the academic performance of student at large through various formats bearing in mind that the assessment policy of the school involves projects, assignments, class exercise and tests, which are the software’s strength. This portal is used to showcase these details both in terms of cumulative scores as well as graphical representation of the student’s performance on all the subjects and individual subjects. Comparisons are also made from one assessment to the other to reflect student’s trend of performance from a week to the other, etc
This portal is a service for parents; school administrators to enjoy as it facilitates the ease in monitoring students’ performances and it complements what exists in the local area network of the school. Basically, parents and students can have the get their report sheets for viewing and printing on the internet for a variety of purposes/reasons
Apart from academic exposure to parents, account statements of students as well as school bank accounts (for boarding schools that help students to keep their pocket money) for a parent to now how much a student has exhausted his pocket money, etc.
All of these are reports that will be available on line as well as admission routines.
This web version will be hosted on a .NET platform. In case the school’s existing website does not support this platform we can host for the school while a link is on the school’s website.

In cases of system crash the backed up files can be used to implement full recovery to back up date.
In cases of accidental shut down, or network break down the software maintains data integrity till the point of shutdown or network breakdown

Standards and curricula compliance - Developed with modern technology with the highest level of ethical standards and robust enough to accommodate the Nigerian, British and American curriculums.

Upgrades & Version control - Updates and upgrades will be developed in cognizance with the structure of the previous version in line with technological advancements to allow easy implementation.
