According to United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report Nigeria's foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow for year 2023 was US$1.873 billion, Nigeria was ranked number 8 in FDI. The top 10 are: 1. Egypt: US$9.841 billion 2. South Africa: US$5.2 billion 3. Ethiopia: US$3.263 billion 4. Uganda: US$2.886 billion 5. Senegal: US$2.641 billion 6. Mozambique: US$2.509 billion 7. Namibia: US$2.345 billion 8. Nigeria: US$1.873 billion 9. Cote d'Ivoire: US$1.753 billion 10. DR Congo: US$1.635 billion. The situation is even more troubling when you consider that Nigeria had consistently attracted FDI inflows of over US$4 billion annually since 2005 during the Obasanjo, Yar'adua and Jonathan administrations. However, since the APC took over in 2015, the country's FDI inflow has failed to reach even US$4 billion. Olusegun Obasanjo 1999: US$1.18 billion (Obasanjo assumed office in May 1999) 2000: US$1.31 billion 2001: US$1.277 billion 2002: US$2.04 billion 2003: US$2.171 billion 2004: US$2.127 billion 2005: US$4.978 billion 2006: US$4.9 billion Obasanjo/Yar'adua 2007: US$6.087 billion Umaru Yar'adua 2008: US$8.25 billion 2009: US$8.65 billion (top 3 in Africa in both years) Goodluck Jonathan 2010: US$6.099 billion 2011: US$8.92 billion (ranked number 1 in Africa) 2012: US$7.127 billion 2013: US$5.61 billion 2014: US$5 billion Jonathan/Buhari 2015: US$3.064 billion Muhammadu Buhari 2016: US$3.45 billion 2017: US$2.413 billion 2018: US$775 million 2019: US$2.305 billion 2020: US$2.4 billion 2021: US$3.313 billion 2022: US$895 million Buhari/Tinubu 2023: US$1.87 billion Bola Tinubu 2024: - Tonye Barcanista Link to UNCTAD FDI Reports for Nigeria in the last 30 years: https://unctad.org/data-visualization/global-foreign-direct-investment-flows-over-last-30-years 10 Likes 3 Shares

Politics / Endbadgovernance Protest: Stop Blackmailing The North by TonyeBarcanista(m): 2:37pm On Aug 06 |
A protest that started as EndBadGovernance has transmuted into blackmailing the North by some suspected sponsored elements of the government and closet bigots. They alleged that protests only happen in the North when a Southerner is in office, citing the cases of the protests against Goodluck Jonathan's administration (2010-2015) and now incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration (2023 till date). - Tonye Barcanista 109 Likes 14 Shares

In my opinion, I think the Company has done well. 1. They placed the accused on administrative leave so as to prevent him from using his office to tamper with investigation. 2. They empathized with the complainant and placed her on counselling. We await the outcome of the investigation. 32 Likes 2 Shares |

successmatters:I think proliferation of people of the emboldened started in 2014 during the BBOG protests... It was taken to the next level in 2015 where various groups and individuals began to cash-in on genuine concerns of people. It's now a full blown problem! 4 Likes 1 Share |

successmatters:Well, my view has always been that Protest should be used to express displeasure with government and make demands. However the bigger goal should be to unify interests, sensitise each citizens, present/support credible party & candidates and prepare for the next election to challenge the incumbent system. Irrespective, I am aligned with the right of Nigerians to peacefully protest. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

To prevent hijack of protest, nallow any individual or group to become the face of the protest. Generally, there are different people/groups with their different agenda hiding under the genuine concern of the general population during protest. I will try to list some of these groups: 76 Likes 9 Shares

Politics / Re: ₦2.7 Billion Fraud: Ex-Director, Azubuike Okorie Testifies Against Sirika by TonyeBarcanista(m): 4:11pm On Jul 27 |
My brother, I can never get angry at anyone that disagrees with me, misunderstood me or take a hard stance against my (or my opinion). The beautiful thing about education is that it gives us the ability to think, reason and hold opinion based on information available to us. One problem about most Nigerians is that we are fixated on hero worshipping or blind followership. Whenever we perceive that anyone is angry at the people we dislike we tend to follow such persons without asking questions. I think at this point we should realize that there is no Messiah anywhere. What we should be concerned about should be how to aggregate our position, getting likeminds together on basis of ideology (not tribe or ethnicity), put our collective belief, purpose and plans into writing (Manifesto), get the group organised through drafting a constitution, sensitise Nigerians about what our group represents and what it intends to do if elected (Sensitization), register the group as a political party (truth is there is not a single ideological party at present), and field candidates for the Presidency and other offices. That way we have hope to change the system and replace it with people of good intentions, vision and focus. Otherwise we shall continue to recycle failures and their allies. Nahunger: 1 Like |
