APC is bad news.

They destroyed this country.

Imagine a leader that met basket of tomatoes at 25k, took it to 180k per basket, and now it dropped to 65k, and some mumus are praising this evil government.

May God help Nigeria

Dalohad:
Immediately after GEJ was pushed out in 2015, investors started taking their money. They knew Buhari was a power-hungry empty skull who had nothing to offer and Tulumbu is following suit.

The best presidents Nigeria has ever had never bullied their way to power, they were actually called to come lead. OBJ was called from prison, and Umaru Musa Ya'adua was begged by OBJ to take the mantle. GEJ was convinced to lead after UMY's death. They never swore to bring down heaven like bloodthirsty Buhari, they never bullied their way to power with money bribing every living and non-living thing from Judges to INEC officers, like Tulumbu did.

The answers is simple, if a man bullies his way to power, he really has nothing to offer. He just wants to fulfill ambition at your expense. Nothing more.

History will still repeat itself because Nigeria is lost cause. I assure you.
In fact, what I have learnt from this your post is something I will never forget. People who display desperation for power literally have nothing to offer.

Politics / A Troubling Trend: Nigeria's FDI Inflow Decline Since 2015 by TonyeBarcanista(m): 10:37pm On Aug 12
According to United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report Nigeria's foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow for year 2023 was US$1.873 billion, Nigeria was ranked number 8 in FDI. The top 10 are:

1. Egypt: US$9.841 billion
2. South Africa: US$5.2 billion
3. Ethiopia: US$3.263 billion
4. Uganda: US$2.886 billion
5. Senegal: US$2.641 billion
6. Mozambique: US$2.509 billion
7. Namibia: US$2.345 billion
8. Nigeria: US$1.873 billion
9. Cote d'Ivoire: US$1.753 billion
10. DR Congo: US$1.635 billion.

The situation is even more troubling when you consider that Nigeria had consistently attracted FDI inflows of over US$4 billion annually since 2005 during the Obasanjo, Yar'adua and Jonathan administrations. However, since the APC took over in 2015, the country's FDI inflow has failed to reach even US$4 billion.

Olusegun Obasanjo
1999: US$1.18 billion
(Obasanjo assumed office in May 1999)
2000: US$1.31 billion
2001: US$1.277 billion
2002: US$2.04 billion
2003: US$2.171 billion
2004: US$2.127 billion
2005: US$4.978 billion
2006: US$4.9 billion

Obasanjo/Yar'adua
2007: US$6.087 billion

Umaru Yar'adua
2008: US$8.25 billion
2009: US$8.65 billion
(top 3 in Africa in both years)

Goodluck Jonathan
2010: US$6.099 billion
2011: US$8.92 billion
(ranked number 1 in Africa)
2012: US$7.127 billion
2013: US$5.61 billion
2014: US$5 billion

Jonathan/Buhari
2015: US$3.064 billion

Muhammadu Buhari
2016: US$3.45 billion
2017: US$2.413 billion
2018: US$775 million
2019: US$2.305 billion
2020: US$2.4 billion
2021: US$3.313 billion
2022: US$895 million

Buhari/Tinubu
2023: US$1.87 billion

Politics / Endbadgovernance Protest: Stop Blackmailing The North by TonyeBarcanista(m): 2:37pm On Aug 06
A protest that started as EndBadGovernance has transmuted into blackmailing the North by some suspected sponsored elements of the government and closet bigots. They alleged that protests only happen in the North when a Southerner is in office, citing the cases of the protests against Goodluck Jonathan's administration (2010-2015) and now incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration (2023 till date).

These claims are misrepresentation of facts and recent history. For the record, there was protest against President Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007) across the country at several times when he partially removed fuel subsidy that caused increment of the pump price of fuel.

Although there was no major protest against President Umaru Musa Yar'adua (2007-May 2010), the Boko Haram issue first reared its ugly head in Maiduguri, Borno state in July 2009 during the active period of his presidency. He swiftly crushed it! It is therefore untrue that the "North" created Boko Haram insurgency to undermine Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner.

When President Goodluck Jonathan (May 2010-2015) assumed office in substantive capacity after the demise of President Umaru Musa Yar'adua, Nigeria did not experience any protest until January 2012 when Jonathan announced the removal of fuel subsidy in his New Year's broadcast against the advice of relevant stakeholders, including Nigeria Labour Congress, Nigeria Bar Association and Nigeria Medical Association.

Contrary to misrepresented narrative, the protests were held across the country, including Lagos, Oyo (Ibadan), Edo (Benin), Kwara (Ilorin) and Kano states among others. The 2012 Subsidy removal protests had the support of legendary literary icons, Ms Chimamanda Adichie and Late Chinua Achebe. During these protests, twelve persons were killed, including seven in Kano, three in Benin, and two in Lagos, and many were injured by the Police.

Furthermore, Boko Haram issue only resurfaced in September 2010 after they were crushed in July 2009, and the mismanagement of the situation emboldened them to cause more havoc. The kidnap of Chibok school girls of Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents was the next mass protest against Jonathan.

Contrary to several claims, there were series of protests in the North against President Muhammadu Buhari (2015-2023). There were several protests against Buhari administration between 2020 and 2023 in the North against hardship, killing and insecurity. In June 2020, some Northerners staged a protest in Katsina to demand his resignation. In December 2021, similar protests against Buhari were held in the North. In January 2023, Buhari and his entourage were stoned in the North.

Has people forgotten so soon? Have people forgotten the #NorthIsBleeding campaign?

When President Bola Tinubu (May 2023-date) removed fuel subsidy, did anyone protest? Many gave the government the benefit of doubt though some of us never trusted the administration. Under six months, prices of commodities x10, inflation rate skyrocketed and it has become difficult for a poor man to survive. The untold hardship turned into famine, Nigerians decided to protest.

Why then are hirelings of the government blackmailing the North? Are northerners not Nigerians? Are they the only ones suffering? Are people in the South living in plenty or comfort? Don't Nigerians have the right to express their displeasure and discontent irrespective of ethnicity? May God forgive those that are tribalising Nigeria's challenges. Stop blackmailing the North! Tinubu has failed!

In my opinion, I think the Company has done well.

1. They placed the accused on administrative leave so as to prevent him from using his office to tamper with investigation.

2. They empathized with the complainant and placed her on counselling.

We await the outcome of the investigation.

You're correct, that's how it was supposed to be, until numbers 2 to 7 started to cash in on the corrupt system in Nigeria, and they always have the upper hand.

They use the media to promote tribal and religious divides that will make a mess of all the good intentions of rhe honest few. Just the way they used teibal hate to win votes in the elections, is the same way they wi use tribal hate to get people to fight themselves during the protests.

It's simply too risky in this period.
I think proliferation of people of the emboldened started in 2014 during the BBOG protests... It was taken to the next level in 2015 where various groups and individuals began to cash-in on genuine concerns of people. It's now a full blown problem!

Shikini:
Tinubu's tribal bigotry should also be a topic for discussion in this protest.

At least, Buhari did spread his appointments across the three geopolitical zones of the North and hence, won their loyalty.

Tinubu completely neglected SS & SE in key appointments. Apart from ministerial appointments which the constitution stipulated must be drawn from each state, SW occupy most other juicy offices - CBN, CUSTOMS, EFCC, IGP, FIRS etc etc
.
He said he will continue from where Buhari stopped... Right?

Exactly. its the most sensible thing to do. Any other method might jeopardise the fragile peace we have in this country.
Well, my view has always been that Protest should be used to express displeasure with government and make demands. However the bigger goal should be to unify interests, sensitise each citizens, present/support credible party & candidates and prepare for the next election to challenge the incumbent system.

Irrespective, I am aligned with the right of Nigerians to peacefully protest.

I don't think any protest can be sustained for two weeks in Nigeria...

8. Honest Nigerians like me: We are anti protest, because we understand that numbers 2 to 7 are more powerful, and will defeat the good intentions of number 1.

We were the people that voted "right", by avoiding voting for this disaster. We are tired of the noise, and will want everyone to endure the pains until 2027.
In summary you are saying Nigerians should correct their mistakes in 2027?

Politics / Protest: Different Groups With Their Agenda - TonyeBarcanista by TonyeBarcanista(m): 7:20pm On Jul 28
To prevent hijack of protest, nallow any individual or group to become the face of the protest. Generally, there are different people/groups with their different agenda hiding under the genuine concern of the general population during protest. I will try to list some of these groups:

1. Genuine Protesters: Patriotic Nigerians driven by concern for the country's terrible situation, and are seeking positive change through peaceful protest seeking to #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria

2. Attention Seekers: These are self-serving individuals that are seeking leadership status and be seen as the face of protests. Their objectives are to attract donations and recognition for self gain.

3. Protest Vendors: These are opportunistic people selling protest-related merchandise, such as branded shirts and caps, for self financial gain.

4. Asylum Seekers: These are people seeking to leverage on the protest to flee the country and seek asylum abroad, citing persecution or violence. These people primary objective is not to end bad governance but to 'japa'.

5. Corrupt Government Officials: These are officials of the government that are secretly fueling anarchy and violence so as to profit from reconstruction contracts, allocations, and emergency funds. They usually use sponsored thugs, infiltrate protesters or do something ridiculous to provoke violence.

6. Street Criminals: These are individuals that exploit genuine protests to settle scores with law enforcement agents, free their comrades from detention by breaking prisons and police facilities, and pursue nefarious agendas, such as looting, extortion and vandalism.

7. Ruthless Politicians: These are power-hungry politicians sponsoring or awaiting anarchy to eliminate political rivals and critics, so as to blame protesters or security forces for the violence, and then consolidate power.

The agenda of every member of the 2nd to 7th category is to take advantage of the genuine concerns of majority Nigerians, who fall in the first category, to advance their selfish desires.

So shine your eyes as you exercise your right to peacefully protest against the bad governance in Nigeria

#EndBadGovernmentInNigeria

Politics / Re: ₦‎2.7 Billion Fraud: Ex-Director, Azubuike Okorie Testifies Against Sirika by TonyeBarcanista(m): 4:11pm On Jul 27
My brother, I can never get angry at anyone that disagrees with me, misunderstood me or take a hard stance against my (or my opinion). The beautiful thing about education is that it gives us the ability to think, reason and hold opinion based on information available to us.

One problem about most Nigerians is that we are fixated on hero worshipping or blind followership. Whenever we perceive that anyone is angry at the people we dislike we tend to follow such persons without asking questions.

I think at this point we should realize that there is no Messiah anywhere. What we should be concerned about should be how to aggregate our position, getting likeminds together on basis of ideology (not tribe or ethnicity), put our collective belief, purpose and plans into writing (Manifesto), get the group organised through drafting a constitution, sensitise Nigerians about what our group represents and what it intends to do if elected (Sensitization), register the group as a political party (truth is there is not a single ideological party at present), and field candidates for the Presidency and other offices. That way we have hope to change the system and replace it with people of good intentions, vision and focus. Otherwise we shall continue to recycle failures and their allies.
