Hey my Nairaland fam. There's this neighbor of mine,a girl in her early 20's who's still living with her parents. Recently,I got to know that that took jamb and had even written the exam. So,this morning she came to me to advise her on the next step to take since her result came out and she scored 173. First, this is someone whom I know who doesn't have any skill or handwork. Secondly, her parents aren't that well-to-do type that can see a child through any university at this moment considering how expensive the Nigerian higher institutions have become. I told her openly that she should go and learn a skill from now till next year and can retake the jamb next year. Though she agreed to what I told her but since then, she has been behaving so cold towards me. Someone who used to respond to me jokes before no longer talks to me. And I've been wondering if what I did was wrong. Or perhaps,I should have just mind my business and let her continue with what she intended on doing. Good day my Nairaland fam. Please, matured minds in the house,is it a good thing for a man to help his ex girlfriend who's now married, financially. She used to be someone whom I loved so dearly in the past but unfortunately, she broke up with me immediately she met someone who was already asking her hand in marriage. It's been over 3 years since she got married and I made sure I cut every bit of communication between us. Out of the blue,I don't know who gave her my number. She called me,and apologized for what she did to me. Even before she could ask for my help,I already knew her husband wasn't financially buoyant like I thought. She said she wants to open a provision store ,cuz immediately after they got married, they relocated to Lagos. And she asked for my assistance. So,I don't know if it's appropriate at all to help her, considering how she left me emotionally stranded when I needed her the most in my life. Tho I've completely moved on with my life, but receiving a call from her brought back a whole lot of memories. Please,my fellow Nairalanders, reason with me. Should I help her out? |
Good afternoon everyone. So lately, my fiancee and me have gotten our heads all wrapped up into the marriage stuff. Of course we've gone to several counceling centera to seek advise in regards to what we are about to go into. But sometimes, when I see how marriages of nowadays break up, I'm always left in wonderment, wondering if marriage is still a beautiful thing like we do watch on our TV screens? Or it's like an imprisonment for couples? In as much as I feel like I've got a very responsible woman in my life right now, who has equally been by my side all through the period of my thick and thin days,I still feel like there should be more to that, which is something I'm yet to find out. Do the fights, quarrels and misunderstandings worth it, especially in marriage? Please married couples and elders in the house,I want to know so that I won't end up making a life time mistake. Good day everyone. So recently I've been thinking about marriage. Tho I'm in a relationship but the woman I've been dating doesn't really seem to have the same serious interest and intentions like me. I've talked to her severally but it seems she isn't ready to settle down yet. Imagine this is someone whom I've gone to see her people and they know me well. My own people know her too. I've equally talked to her mom since she's the one parent she has . And had also talked to her best friend about it too. But one thing I've noticed about her is that she's over religious and seems to be too close to her pastor. The last time I talked to her about the marriage stuff, she directed me to go and talk to her pastor. Tho I was initially furious about it but I just had to man up,kill my pride and decided to pay her pastor a visit. From the conversation I had with her pastor,it seems he's one of the major stumbling blocks. Because he was only curious about my financial status he was even asking me what was my source of livelihood, and of which I told him. Afterwards,he then asked me what was my monthly salary. Saying if I'm sure I can take care of my fiancee with that amount,or if I'm planning to have a side hustle. That he doesn't want a case where any of her spiritual daughter will go into a marriage where she'll be suffering. I told her categorically clear that I'm not a lazy man and I don't intend to put anyone's daughter into suffering in the name of marriage. It's been over a week since I left the pastor's office, and since then,my fiancee has been behaving so cold towards me. So I don't know whether to continue with my proposal or I should just kindly look for another lady to marry. |
Good day my Nairaland fam. So this afternoon,I just came across this post on my friend's WhatsApp status. And it has left me wondering if such cultural practices still exist in among some tribes here in Nigeria. Tho,it still does ,here in where I hail from in the south but it isn't rampant as it was back in the days. Do such discrimination still exist? And why isn't feminism fighting against such practices instead of trying to measure muscle with their male counterparts in things that doesn't really matter while neglecting the ones that matter? Good day everyone. Just as everyday come and go,I Just can't help it but keep thinking about how hard drugs has turned my friend to a complete junkie. This dude was my primary school classmate and at a time ago we were even considered as best friends. Somehow along the way we got admissions into different higher institutions. At first during holidays when we returned home from our different schools,I used to noticed how strange he had become. Someone who used to be very robust suddenly emaciated and I knew it wasn't as a result of hunger because his family made sure he got everything he needed in school, unlike myself who signed MoU with sapa. Fast forward to 2019,after graduation,it all got worse. And he made his smoking habit public to the extent that he smoked on the streets. That was when his elder siblings and I had to advise him, about the damages weed and other drugs he was taking were doing to him. But it all seemed every advice we were giving him were falling upon deaf ears. What really broke our friendship was when he was trying to lure me into weed. That was when I started to avoid him. The adage which says --"Show me your friend and I shall tell you who you are" kept ringing in my head and tho I did everything to talk him through, out of that bad habit but he wasn't getting any of it. Just last week, when I paid my dad a visit,I saw this dude, now looking so unkept and rolling with street urchins. I only waived him and went my way. Please guys out there, let's say no to hard drugs because it doesn't have any good effects on the human body. #SAYNOTODRUGS. Please let's help push this thread to the front page so that others can learn from it.

obembet:. That's my point. Almost everyone in this country wants an opportunity so that he/she can exploit others. |
POS merchants are also ordinary Nigerians just like you too . Just that,na connection separate una two . And one of the major difference between both of you is that POS merchants ready to press money for banker hand but you'd rather want to stand in the queue to wait for it to get to your turn ![]() Press money and watch how mint notes wash your palms . Sorry, but this is Nigeria for you. A country where almost every single sector strives on corruption ![]() |

Another ponzi wahala. When will Nigerians learn from their past mistakes ? Anyways, ponzi scam will always be successful so long there are greedy people in our societies. Imagine having cool 20m sitting comfortably in your account and one person will now come and tell you to invest it in one imaginary investment. Mumu people. |
Lagos na baba for everything. Bayelsa na just smally for everything, from smallest local government areas to small internet subscribers. And to the men with the balls with plastic balls ![]() |
Shameless soldiers who couldn't defeat ordinary boko boys and bandits to the extent that their president had to crawl and beg Donald Trump to come to his rescue with his marines . But once they set their eyes upon civilians, they tend to develop strong erections. |
