My biggest grouse with typical ibos in Lagos is they dont assimilate with the Language of the land, yet start asking for leadrship positions in the land That is a false assumption. Most igbo people I know who have spent a long time in Lagos can speak yoruba quite well. This man is just an exception. |

iiichidodo: Ok let us humor you and agree to your critique....But we don't think the alternative is Buhari maybe Fashola but most definitely NOT Buhari, because to be sincere Nigerians are feeling the transformation..there is almost steady power supply, cheap foodstuffs are abound, transportation has been excellent, economic diversification on point with its positive effect of boosting revenue, aid industrialization and put money in our pockets via employement (at this rate we should be hosting a World Cup!)..all of these despite the fall of the naira due to almost freefall price of crude oil and its global negative effect(the Euro has fallen into an 11 year all time low). Nigerians cannot be decieved nor SCAMMED by sentimental half-lies into supporting a dyed in wool bigot whose old age and illiteracy has been taken into consideration pending the relinqueshment of office via physical or mental impairment as a result old senility by a cabal (consisting chiefly of former pdp members and other corrupt entites) who are keen on the oil blocs, oil contracts, petroleum import licenses, fertilizer contract imbezzlement,National theatre acquisition, ministerial positions, federation account, foreign external reserves, tax revenues, custom revenues, tollgate on thirdmainland bridge and not to the people, especially those chanting 'sai buhari' and 'change'..."the devil we know is better than the angel we don't know" Finally, a GEJite admits that GEJ is a devil. Your mentality needs to change radically. You are suffering from a syndrome called Stockholm syndrome. As you have suffered under Jona & Co. you are contented with suffering, you don't want change. You and every other anti-change protagonists know very well that Buhari is educated, I'll urge you if you don't want to stay ignorant, just make a sort of research yourself, wikipedia it. You'll see that he is more educated than you. Jona is not the way, Buhari may not be the way but he has a much more intelligent team than Jona and whatever the outcome of the election, Nigerians have been enlightened. |

lanregidi: Must read Brethren, This is a desperate and urgent call from the throne of Grace that the brethren in Christ are about to make the greatest error of their lives by selling off their kingly heritage for a mess of pottage called "change". Change into what? Change into what happened to Egypt , Sudan, Lybia, Algeria and Turkey which were once flourishing Christian countries but because the brethren there also sold their souls on the premise of "it does not matter" they became the last set of Christians in those countries! Remember Turkey! It was the beautiful Christian country called Constantinople! Today it is history! The foundation of the planned islamisation of Nigeria was taken in 1989 in Abuja by OIC. Since then they have not looked back! Our Government gave them a contribution of 21 billion dollars then! Wonder then where the funding of boko Haram is coming from? They have painfully now infiltrated one of the biggest denominations in Nigeria and offered one of their best Pastors -a Professor,a Vice presidential Slot! Now a larger community of that denomination now promotes this "change"! They did it in Constantinople ! Remember brethren, that's the biggest denomination of Christians in the North - the EYN has been wiped off! All their churches burnt. You may say that it is the North it can't get here! They said the same thing in Sudan, Libya, Algeria and Constantinople! How come the brethren have become so dulled in the Spirit that they no longer are sensitive? We may be the last Christians in Nigeria if this great error the brethren is about to commit is not averted! Our Lord Jesus is greatly miffed by our irresponsibility as His Followers! How come we no longer hear Him! The Great shepherd of the Sheep! How come that Christians have forgotten that this country was made ungovernable by these same people and Christians are holding the wrong person responsible? How come? The signs of the eventual Islamization of Nigeria are awash in the 1999 constitution where Islam, Sharia are mentioned more than 100 times.! Not a single mention of Christ or Christianity! You say it does not matter. Now, mark it you cannot amend the constitution without a bitter progrom! Brethren, the night is here! We must contend for the faith and our heritage which was handed once and for all to us by our maker Trying to talk sense to pro geJ fundamentalists is a waste of time. Its like flogging a dead horse. By the way, Nigeria has had more Muslim presidents than Christian ones and it has never been islamised. Nigeria has more Muslims than Christians population wise and there has never been an attempt to islamize this country so I don't know where GEJ people get off saying GMB will islamize Nigeria. kekakuz: lagosians are satisfied with the tinunbu empire so they are not asking question. they have been blinded buy the veil of PDP hatred so they are OK with whatever tinunbu /fahola wants for them. no questioning no investigation.
by the way let me take this chance and this space and this opportunity and this time to educate those that are shouting Jonathan is corrupt what is corruption. is stealing corruption can a president fight corruption. is corruption a crime
corruption is a part of human nature. the tendency not to do the expected. a kind of defiance and an act of being unethical.its totally natural and can be controlled.
is stealing corruption. well its important to draw the line between crime and corruption. stealing is purely a crime and a graduated form of corruption. corruption is not necessarily punishable but crime is. so if someone steals, let's leave it to the law enforcement agency to do their job.
can a president fight corruption. everyone in a democratic setting is gilded by law. especially a country like Nigeria that operates a bicameral legislature. so it is left for the constitution to spell out what is punishable or not. if the law state that a director must account for their monthly spending and he refuse or is found to have stolen, you don't need the president to tell EFCC or the police to do their job. asking a president to fight corruption is like telling him to be a dictator and interfere with the judicial process.then he has the power to accuse anyone and punish. then absolute power will corrupt.
finally how do we fight corruption. we have seen the Nigerian law makers concern themselves with irrelevant oversight functions where they even ask for bribe in the process. these are supposed law makers that are meant to strengthen the constitution as the only true tool to tackle corruption. if our laws clearly spells out how the treasury should be managed and it States clear punishments, if the constitution gives every Nigerian the right to question the government on its spendings.if the constitution mandates the governors and chairmen to make public. its monthly spending, then corruption will be fought squarely.
sadly the man that tried to put these things in place and respect the judiciary by organising town Hall meetings and national conference is being accused of leading a corrupt government. not knowing that we are the ones creating a favourable condition for the cultivation of corruption.
instead we are busy asking for someone who will handpick people and punish them at will.forgething that we run a democratic government and must respect the judiciary. you and all the 171 people who liked this jargon you wrote must be mentally deficient. Corruption is not a crime!!! I wish I could see you face to face I'll give you a piece of my mind. Half-wit. |

brainpower: This same 2013 he was fighting insurgency while Buhari didn't fight. GEJ was trying to use every means necessary to see to the end of the insurgency. Osinbajo should stop cleaning the image of Buhari, whether he wins or not, he is a fundamentalist and an extremist. His statements and actions are there to prove it. And please nairalanders, I know Osinbajo as a seasoned lawyer but what I don't know is what he brings to the table as far as politics is concerned for the APC. His CAN and PFN has abandoned him, so it means he is politically irrelevant. Which also means that by any reason Buhari is voted in and he starts misbehaving, Osinbajo doesn't have the political might to stand up to him. Votewisly. What you don't know is that Prof. Osinbajo has been involved in politics for many years and was involved in the drafting of the manifesto of the APC. That CAN section that support GEJ have done so "secretly" cause any official support is an insult to Christianity and that organisation is bereft of sound reasoning and has lost the leadership of the holy spirit. Osinbajo is one of the most educated, articulate and well seasoned politicians in Nigeria. Whatever happens come February 16th, he'll always be respected. |

dokunbam: The truth is that some people are benefiting immensely from this corrupt government that is why they don't want to change and they campaign against change. Let's talk small history about Buhari's alleged stolen funds. In March 1976, the then Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Buhari as the Federal Commissioner (position now called Minister) for Petroleum and Natural Resources. When the Nigerian National. Petroleum Corporation was created in 1976, Buhari was also appointed as its Chairman, a position he held until 1978. During his tenure as Commissioner, $2,8 billion allegedly went missing from the accounts of the NNPC in Midlands Bank in the United Kingdom. Former President Ibrahim Babangida allegedly accused Buhari of being responsible for"his" fraud. However, according to the Modalities for Coordinating Nigeria's Anti-Corruption Strategies, Constructive Engagement Vol.1 No.1, (2009), in 1983, Shagari administration inaugurated the Crude Oil Sales Tribunal of Inquiry, headed by Justice Ayo Irikefe, to investigate allegations of N2.8 billion misappropriation from the NNPC account. The tribunal however found no truth in the allegations even though it noticed some lapses in the NNPC accounts. Buhari mounted an offensive against entrenched interests. In 20 months of presidency, about 500 politicians, officials and businessmen were jailed for corruption charges during his stewardship. Buhari was terrible in his tenure, he killed plenty people but maybe that's why Nigeria started moving, maybe we need some one with a terrible side, maybe. Its obvious to see that Buhari doesn't tolerate corruption, why then do GEJites soil his image. duni04: I agree that GEJ hasn't fought corruption but Buhari is also surrounded by equally corrupt people. Atiku was investigated by the FBI for bribing a US congressman. Bukola Saraki only jumped ship from the PDP to the APC when the EFCC opened his file and invited him for questioning on how he looted Kwars state. Now he's one of the national leaders of the APC. Bola Tinubus assets were seized for drug smuggling in the US in the 90's. These are the characters and personalities accusing Jonathan of aiding corruption. In this same Nigeria! What a joke! saintandsinnerz: Nigerians and their poor sense of history! Do you folks here shouting sai buhari really believe elections are won in Nigeria based on some opinion polls and online popularity of candidates? If you believe so, then I'm sorry for you because you have failed to understand how elections are conducted here. In 2007, Nigerians were really tired of PDP govt. Led by obasanjo because of massive corruption and plundering of our national treasures. People were ready and determined (just as now to vote out pdp) But what happened after the election? The same "evil" pdp won the election. Do you know why? It is just because it is difficult to oust an incumbent govt that virtually controls all the state resources and institutions of power. With massive resources at their care, it becomes almost impossible to defeat them. One of the reasons it is difficult to beat an incumbent in Nigeria is because of the electoral law. The Nigeria electoral law is a sham. It was purposely drafted to perpetuate the ruling party in power. And until the provisions that make the sitting president to contest while still in power is expunged, elections in Nigeria (especially at the presidential level) will remain a mere formality. The party in power will always win it! Don't be deceived with the noise you are hearing among the opposition parties, they will not win the election. They will as usual ask you to defend your vote after voting, but how will you defend the votes in your area which is probably in an urban setting, what of the millions of votes in those remote areas where poverty is the second name of the inhabitants? That is where the real action takes place. In those places, people sell their votes for as low as 200 to 500 naira as the case maybe. Now this is where the manipulations take place. Some opposition party agents even partake in these manipulations because they have been settled "handsomely by the ruling party who always has an endless resources to perpetuate this subversion. So to all of you who are having wet dreams about a mere opinion poll or online popularity of some candidates, I say to you, "you are building your castles in the air. If you believe that PDP will handover power to APC or any other opposition party come may 29, 2015, then you can believe anything! This sounds like a conspiracy theory but all sensible Nigerians know that it is the bitter truth. |
