It’s a known fact that Thomas Edison, the world famous American Inventor, failed 10,000 times. After 5,000 failed experiments, his laboratory attendant said to him; “Mr. Edison, we have failed 5,000 times, shouldn’t we stop?” Mr. Edison replied; “Son, we have not failed 5,000 times, we have only discovered 5,000 ways in which it cannot work. We are closer to the solution now than when we started.”

Success is the achievement of predetermined goals. But how do you respond when things do not go the way you planned? Do you feel discouraged, depressed and sad? To succeed, don’t quit. However, our knowledge of success cannot be complete without knowing how to handle failure.

Successful people don’t frown on failure but sees it as a stepping stone to achieving their set goals. Don’t be afraid to fail. Success will not come without you taking a risk. A key thing to note is that failure is usually a sign that you need to change something. If things are not working, something is out of place. Start that business and be focused. Start small because small is relative.

Let us draw another lesson from the scriptures. When Jesus spoke about the construction of a house and about warfare, he outlined the important of strategy in creating an effective plan which leads to success.

He said you have to sit down first and consult, to see if you would be able to achieve your goal with the resources at your disposal. He said that without such plan, it would be easy for one to be stranded right in the middle of a project. If you do not win on paper you have little chances of winning at the battle front. Develop the ability to write things down. Develop the ability to master details.

You do not make much progress in life if you do not have mastery of details. If in the past one week you do not have on record how you spend your money, this could be part of the reason you are not making as much progress as you probably desire. You must have a plan. It is not just enough to say, “Next year, I will achieve this.” The big question is what will you achieve and how? You must sit down to crack out a strategy. While praying to God, get ready for a revelation because God gives us winning strategies.
