Well, D’banj has his new album out. “King Don Come” his first solo project since 2008’s “Entertainer,” classic. Here’s the three records that can do that for you.

‘El Chapo’ ft Gucci Mane, Davido
It’s always interesting to see Nigerians try their hands on Trap. When they do, it’s either a hit or a miss. Davido, Wizkid and many more have played with the sub-genre of Hip hop to varying successes. ‘El Chapo’ is D’banj’s latest take on it. The song features Trap pioneer, Gucci Mane who supplies a verse, and Wande Coal who brings on melody.
The record has polarized fans, and industry heads who are expressing their opinions about the lack of ‘dope’ lyrics.
But D’banj continues to engage with the line: “Enemies you want my throne, you must be buzzing…came back with a knockout, MK Mortal Kombat. And if you try to stop me, give you Ti-Chi, drop kick like Liu Kang.”

‘Turn Down For What (Focus)’
When D’banj dropped focus in 2016, it was dead on arrival. The song which was a knock off of his hit single ‘Emergency’, received very little acceptance and failed at flying. But D’banj has got something up his sleeve. The singer took it back into the studio to recreate the record. This time, the interacting Afrobeat rhythms are impressive, with an ominous background chant that layers it with darkness.
And then watch out for the jazzy horn solo which takes off at the 2:14 time stamp. Stay focus.

‘Ntswempu’ ft Bucie and Busiswa
If you loved House music and its influences on Nigerian music, then you would appreciate D’banj’s work on this record. Sampling nostalgic synths from ‘Oliver Twist’, the song features Bucie and Busiswa, two South African divas who bring enough dynamism to turn the record on its head and make it a real dance fest.

A former female staff of Fidelity Bank Plc, identified as Adenike Okuneye, has been dragged before a Lagos Magistrate Court by The management of Fidelity Bank Plc, Lagos for reportedly parading herself as a staff of Fidelity Bank after she had been sacked.

She is also being accused of wearing the T-Shirt bearing the bank and collecting money from customers of the bank with the pretext of saving it for them in the bank, but instead converted same to her use.

The 31-year-old suspect was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a 3-count charge of felony to wit and stealing.
The accused allegedly committed the offence between March and August, 2017.

Two armed robbers reportedly attacked a vehicle at Paul Bassey street by Brooks street, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital on Wednesday. It had government plate number on it.

20-year-old Yuri Vlasko, a Russian freestyle wrestler, was killed in a violent street fight. He was stabbed on the shore of Lake Baikal, near the village of Goryachinsk in the Baikal region of Buryatia, on July 29.

Vlasko was murdered during a mass brawl in which athletes from Dagestan and local residents took part. Eye-witnesses s unknown persons struck Vlasko with a knife in the neck and the head during the fight. The killer, a 33 year old man confirmed his involvement in the death of the athlete but said that he acted in self-defense

My dear citizens,

I am very grateful to God and to all Nigerians for their prayers. I am pleased to be back on home soil among my brothers and sisters.

In the course of my stay in the United Kingdom, I have been kept in daily touch with events at home. Nigerians are robust and lively in discussing their affairs, but I was distressed to notice that some of the comments, especially in the social media have crossed our national red lines by daring to question our collective existence as a nation. This is a step too far.

In 2003 after I joined partisan politics, the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura. Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analyzed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united.

Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable. We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood.

Every Nigerian has the right to live and pursue his business anywhere in Nigeria without let or hindrance.

I believe the very vast majority of Nigerians share this view.



This is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns. Every group has a grievance. But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co-existence.

The National Assembly and the National Council of State are the legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse.

The national consensus is that, it is better to live together than to live apart.

Furthermore, I am charging the Security Agencies not to let the successes achieved in the last 18 months be a sign to relax.

Terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of us can live in peace and safety.

Therefore we are going to reinforce and reinvigorate the fight not only against;

· elements of Boko Haram which are attempting a new series of attacks on soft targets

· kidnappings, farmers versus herdsmen clashes,

· in addition to ethnic violence fuelled by political mischief makers. We shall tackle them all.

Finally, dear Nigerians, our collective interest now is to eschew petty differences and come together to face common challenges of;

· economic security,

· political evolution and integration

· as well as lasting peace among all Nigerians.

I remain resolutely committed to ensuring that these goals are achieved and maintained. I am so glad to be home.

More details have emerged in the murder of 8-year-old Miss Chikamso Victory. She was killed by a 200 level student of the University of Port-Harcourt, (UNIPORT) Maxwell Ifeanyi Chukwu Dike.

23-year-old Dike, was about dumping the body when he was apprehended by local vigilantes. The arrest took place in the early hours of Saturday, August 19, St Messiah Street, Eliozu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

According to the police, he abducted the child, who was his neighbour, raped her and after killing her, he removed her vagina, eyes, tongue and breasts.

Police command in Ogun State, have a man, Nasiru Adeyemo, and his wife, Idayat, for cutting off the index finger of his daughter from his previous marriage, tying her up in a sack and dumping her by the roadside to die at Asabala area along Papalanto-Sagamu Road in the state on Sunday, August 13th.

A statement by the state’s police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says that passersby who saw the sack alerted the police and when it was loosened, it was discovered to be a little girl who was writhing in pain following her cut off finger.

She was taken to the hospital for medical examination. After she was stabilized, the little girl told the police that it was her father and step mother that tied her up in a sack and dumped her on the road.

“On the strength of the information, the DPO Owode Egba, CSP Shehu Alao, led his men to the scene, where the white rice sack was untied. Surprisingly, a seven year-old-girl, whose right index finger was cut off, was found inside the sack and dumped at the roadside since Friday. I am sure by now you may have seen some Nollywood movie preview on YouTube with a very alluring thumbnail that tempts you to click and watch. When you click to watch you would usually see a teaser with a seeming plot that ends with a steamy sex scene; and an announcement that ‘if you want to see the full video or raw behind the scenes footage email or call/WhatsApp some specific numbers’.

But it does not end there. When you contact them, you’re given a price and bank account details to pay to, in order to receive the titles you hope to see sent to your email. Some producers also point you to a website where you can pay an amount to subscribe and watch these titles. These movies are usually of low quality, with little or no storyline but a lot of nudity and dry humping. But sometimes things get more explicit as some titles go even further to show real intercourse.

After digging around, I found out that one of the producers of such movies was a familiar face in Nollywood and the Nigerian entertainment sector. In confidence of not revealing his real name (and of course paying to see a number of his movies), he agreed to allow me to interview him regarding what many would term his immoral and evil new direction.

The producer and director of many such titles under the NollyFun TV belt, revealed that the phenomenon has not been entirely new, and it only satisfies a demand to see sex by many Nigerians and viewers globally.

“I went into soft pó.rn not intentionally. When a romantic scene from a Nollywood movie I produced was extracted and uploaded on a pó.rn site with my contacts, fans started calling and demanding for more, and that’s how we started” he explains

So who are the people who patronize such videos? According to the producer, “foreign people appreciate us a lot for bringing such productions to Africa, some Nigerians buy and appreciate us too, while some are stubborn and choose to talk us out of it.”

So in a region where morality is a big thing, how easy is it to find actors willing to strip down and engage in such scenes? From the selection of titles I saw from the NollyFunTV producers, it appears he keeps a constant male actor and a few actresses on rotation. I wanted to interview his actors but with little success.

He said, “It’s a big challenge to produce such movies; you hardly get a good cast for it, especially females. Most of the calls we received so far are from males tha...

Lisahot, an actress for the producers, is also one not shy of family and friends finding out about her role inpó.rn. According to the university undergraduate, she has always been very sexual and confident of her body, so acting pó.rn is a way to express herself, and most importantly make money! “Some people are not surprised while some people are. But come to think of it, how did they find the video? They must be a pó.rn fan I guess,” she retorted.

While speaking with journalists on Thursday, the Nigerian Police Force’s Public Relations Officer in Jigawa state, SP Jinjiri Abdu, revealed that it had arrested 15 suspects over the death of their colleague in Yankwashi Local Government Area of the state.

According to an exclusive report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the suspects, who are students of the Government Science and Technical College, Karkarna, were arrested on Aug. 8, for causing the death of their colleague after they beat him up with sticks.

The Police spokesman who disclosed further that the students aged between 17 and 19, allegedly took the deceased to the bush close to the school on Aug. 6, and beat him up around 2.30 a.m.


He said; “The suspects were said to have formed a disciplinary committee to deal with the deceased after they suspected him to be a homosexual. So on that fateful day, they decided to deal with him where they allegedly took him to the bush and beat him up with sticks. After the beating, they brought him back to the school, and it was only his lifeless body that was found the following morning. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
