Impeached Ekiti Former Dep. Speaker Seeks Refugee Status In Canada Using False Claims

After making over N100 million as member and Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Segun Adewumi, who represented Ekiti West Constituency 1 in the immediate past House of Assembly is now in Canada, seeking refugee status under false claims.

As deputy speaker, Adewumi made about N2.5 million monthly while he received about N1.8 million as member of the House of Assembly.

Adewumi, who travelled to Toronto, Canada immediately after his tenure as member of the 5th Assembly ended, is said to have filed claim at the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) office, seeking refugee status on the ground that his life and those of his family members will not be safe if they return to Nigeria.

Sources in the known revealed that Adewumi lied that his residences in Ekiti were attacked by hoodlums and that he escaped with his wife and children by whiskers.

"He lied that his houses in Ado Ekiti and Erijiyan Ekiti were set ablaze by political thugs," one of the sources said.

Adewumi is also using the murder of his mother, Mrs Juliana Adewumi in Erijiyan Ekiti on March 31, 2013, as ground that his life and those of his family members were not safe in Nigeria.

"He is using his picture and that of his late mother as Display Picture (DP) on WhatsApp, with inscription; 'forever in my mind' to further buttress his claim. Funny enough, he didn't use the mother's picture as DP throughout his tenure as Assembly member," another source said.

A source also revealed that the impeached former deputy speaker lied that his father, who died owing to his neglect, was murdered by political thugs.

It would be recalled that Mrs Juliana Adewumi and Murphy Jeje were murdered in Erijiyan Ekiti on March 31, 2013, during the first tenure of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as governor of Ekiti State.

It was as compensation for the murder of his mother that Adewumi was handed the People's Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to contest the House of Assembly.

Ironically, Adewumi, who was impeached as Deputy Speaker on May 24, 2018, was returned as Deputy Speaker by Fayemi, a few days to his inauguration as governor on October 16, 2018.

He holds the record of the only House of Assembly member in Ekiti State to have been impeached twice.

On May 24, 2018, Segun Adewumi was removed as Deputy Speaker after a motion moved by the Leader of Business, Akinyele Olatunji and seconded by Olayanju Olanrewaju .

Akinyele alleged that Adewumi was found to have indulged in activities capable of bringing the dignity and integrity of the House to disrepute.

Other allegations against the impeached deputy speaker were gross misconduct, lack of leadership qualities and acting in a way that could destabilize the state.

Again, three months after his reinstatement as Speaker, Adewumi was removed by the lawmakers over allegations of gross misconduct.

The lawmakers replaced Adewumi with his closest friend, Olamiposi Omodara, who represented Irepodun/Ifelodun constituency I.

Also on April 16, 2019, the Ekiti State Assembly House of Assembly banned Adewumi for six weeks for alleged legislative misconduct.

This was attributed to his undue interruption of the Speaker, Adeniran Alagbada, while presiding over the House at the plenary.

Exposed! Senator Akpabio Bought Ministerial Appointment For N1.6bn, plot to upstage Amaechi as APC South-South Leader

Things are falling apart in the Akwa Ibom State All Progressives Congress (APC) as top functionaries of the party are no longer at ease with the overbearing attitude of the former Governor of the State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, particularly the way he allegedly used about N1.6 billion to corner the State sole ministerial slot, despite that he is still at the tribunal, challenging the election of Senator Chris Ekpenyong of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District election.

A chieftain of the party who craved anonymity confided in our reporter yesterday, that Akpabio boasted that it was his money that earned him the ministerial appointment and that he was ready to spend more to get a juicy portfolio, preferably Petroleum or Niger-Delta Ministry.

The APC chieftain alleged that Akpabio doled out "N500 million each to two main people while a man that he described as 'major factor' got N600 million and will get another N500 million if he is able to fix him (Akpabio) in his choice ministry."

He said majority of those that Senator Akpabio met in the APC in the State are already feeling cheated and insulted, with Akpabio himself telling them that he is not the leader of the party and he anyone not on his side will get nothing in Abuja.

A Presidency source had told our reporter that Senator Ita Enang, APC governorship candidate; Nsima Ekere, the party's guber candidate in 2015; Umana Okon Umana, Senator John Udoedehe and former Minister of Petroleum; Don Etiebet were being considered for the Akwa Ibom State ministerial slot before Akpabio showed interest and used money to sway the Villa Cabal to his side.

"In fact, Senator Akpabio was not in the picture at all because he already assured that he will win his senatorial election and deliver the governorship to our party. So the choice for ministerial position was already narrowed to Senator Ita Enang and Chief Don Etiebet, the caucus leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom State.

"Even after Akpabio lost his senatorial election and we also lost the governor election, only the party candidate, Nsima Ekere was included in the considered candidates for minister because he (Akpabio) assured that he had a very good case at the tribunal.

"Suddenly, he (Akpabio) started showing interest in the ministerial appointment and you know that he has a very deep pocket and he is a big spender, he was able to upstage Enang, Etiebet and Ekere and the rest is now history," a presidency source said.

Investigations by our reporter revealed that Senator Akpabio opted for the ministerial position as a way of keeping himself in power in preparation for the 2023 Presidency or Senate Presidency.

Already, he is said to have put machineries in motion to dislodge former Governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi as leader of the APC in the South South. He was even said to have tried albeit unsuccessfully to stop Amaechi's return as minister.

Akpabio’s evil displacement of Ita Enang, Umana , Nsima, Etiebet, Udoedehe etc. his plans to fight Amaechi for supremacy in the federal cabinet. His deceit of APC hierarchy in the state and national. His boast of paying for ministerial appointment. Don’t miss the details.we must have it out this morning. Thanks

It should be recalled that a US-based Nigerian Academic and Socio-Political Commentator, Farooq Kperogi, reportedly alleged that "except for a few ministerial nominations (notably those of Adamu Adamu, Ali Isa Pantami, Mohammed Musa Bello, Raji Fashola whom Buhari himself personally penciled— and those that were conceded to Tinubu) every other post was literally auctioned off to the highest bidder."

Titled; "Ministership for Sale: Up to N2.5b Per Slot," he specifically alleged that Jeddy Agba from Cross River State, a Diezani protégé who defected to APC to avoid EFCC scrutiny, was said to have given a very close ally of the President up to N2.5 billion for his nomination.

"I was told that, at a point, the incredibly rapacious Abba Kyari, in fact, removed Musa Bello’s name from the list and sold the spot to someone else. Buhari somehow found out and recalled the list. Bello is the son of Buhari’s very close friend," he wrote on his twitter handle.

Ekiti PDP Media Group slams Fayemi over fresh N5bn loan, Says "He plans to mortgage Ekiti for 15 years"

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party National New Media Group (PDP-NNMG) has accused the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of plotting to plunge the State into another round of debt, disclosing that the governor was about taking N5 billion loan from a new generation bank.

In a statement on Wednesday, State Coordinator of the PDP-NNMG, Bola Agboola, said the N5 billion loan, processing of which was already at advanced stage, is to be repaid in 15 years at N58 million per month.

The PDP group lamented that Governor Fayemi was already threading the same path like his first tenure, noting that the governor was also seeking an unspecified amount as loan from the African Development Bank (AfDB).

It said; "It is on record that the loans and bonds taken by Fayemi when he was governor between 2010 and 2014 are still being repaid by the State Government till date. It was these debts that hampered most of the development efforts of the Ayo Fayose led PDP government and caused irregular payment of workers salaries.

"Despite receiving billions as Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P) fund and N46.4 billion from the Excess Crude Account, Fayemi took N25 billion bond and N31 billion commercial bank loan. One of such frivolous loans was the N5 billion obtained from Ecobank without the Debt Management Office (DMO) approval, using Fountain Holdings Limited, a company with N15 million share capital.

" Apart from loans, in 2014, Fayemi also left unpaid warrants of N15.5 billion; debt to road contractors to the tune of N21.3 billion outstanding remittances to FG N709.9 million totaling and State Public Servants Outstanding Emoluments of N5.1 billion.

" As Governor the second time, Fayemi is on the verge of plunging the State to another round of debt by taking N5 billion loan, payable in 15 years when he will be 69 years and at home, enjoying his loots."

While calling the attention of Ekiti people to governor's fresh plot to mortgage the State, the PDP-NNMG said it was immoral and wrong for governors to be allowed to borrow beyond their tenure, adding that; "If Fayemi is going to take loans, it should be such that must be repaid before the end of his tenure."

Politics / Akpabio Plots Removal Of EFCC Zonal Head ...as Top APC Chieftains Dump Him by tosdeb(m): 7:03pm On Jul 17, 2019
Afraid of being probed for stolen billions, Akpabio plots removal of EFCC Zonal Head ...As top APC chieftains dump him

These are certainly not the best of times for former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akapbio, as he is now running from pillar to post, plotting the removal of the Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Garba Gungum, over his insistence on carrying out the investigation of his (Akpabio) eight years tenure as governor to a logical conclusion.

This is also as Senator Akpabio's case challenging the election of Senator Chris Ekpeyong as the duly elected Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District is falling apart like packs of cards at the Tribunal currently sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital.

To add to his woes, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, including the party's governorship candidate, Nsima Ekere, Senators John Akpanudoedeghe, Ita Enang, Don Etiebet, Chief Sony Jackson, Obong Umana Umana, among others have all fallen out with him and have sworn never to have anything to do with him.

Faced with these dire situations, alone, rejected dejected and afraid that he will be probed and probably jailed for the billions of Naira he allegedly stole from the state in his eight years rule, Akpabio from exclusive details gleaned from an insider, is said to be secretly plotting the removal of the Head of the EFCC Zonal Office in Akwa Ibom State, Garba Gungum.

According to the source, Senator Akpabio is said to have complained that the Zonal Head was not protecting him enough and as such, is afraid he may be probed and sent to jail.

“Akpabio is alone; he is like a political leper now as no one wants to touch him. His APC colleagues are all out for his jugular and the EFCC Zonal Head, Garba Gungum whom he has been boasting is in his pocket, is not given to his boastful antics and has distanced himself from him too.

"He is so afraid and is running from pillar to post now, plotting to have the EFCC Zonal Head removed," the source said.

Speaking with our reporter, an official source of the EFCC, who preferred anonymity said that the anti-graft agency will not be intimidated by Akpabio’s desperate moves and that the "Zonal Head is a hard-core professional, who enjoys the confidence of his bosses in Abuja. Therefore, Akpabio’s plot will certainly fail."

Politics / Akwa Ibom APC Attack On Tribunal Chairman: When Bribe Refuses To Speak by tosdeb(m): 10:41am On Jul 15, 2019
Akwa Ibom APC's Attack On Tribunal chairman: When Bribe Refuses To Speak[img][/img]

Emmanuel Ukeme

The recent wailing of Akwa Ibom APC and subsequent call for the resignation of Justice Jennifer Mbalamen Ijohor, Chairman Panel 2, National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal is a clear indication that the APC is an anti-justice party. We have all followed the proceedings since the beginning of hearing in the election petition tribunal.

The APC before now seemed to have been satisfied with the choice of Justice J M Ijohor and the way she was handling the cases brought before her. But why are they wailing now?

Although we know that crying in a bit to win sympathy is part and parcel of the APC, especially in Akwa Ibom state, but why now?

Prior to the 2019 general election, the APC manipulated the security architecture in the country which led to the transfer of 3 commissioners of Police(CP) to and out of Akwa Ibom in less than 24 hours.

As if that was not enough, the APC just few days to the election embarked on a protest and called for the redeployment of Mike Igini, Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commissioner. The question that tasked a curious mind then was: why the protest at that particular time?

Without mincing words, the APC is fond of wailing like babies when their evil plans and strategies are turned down.

For instance, before the APC called for the redeployment of Mike Igini, they had attempted to bribe him to dance to their tune, at the expense of the decision of Akwa Ibom people. In fact, the APC sent one Maurice Ekpenyong to bribe Mike Igini with 2 billion naira and other incentives. But the REC turned down the satanic offer of the APC to the amazement of the APC. They went ahead to try other means to convince Igini to manipulate the election results in their favour, but he remained adamant. Hence, the APC started crying and calling for his redeployment just few days to the election.

And now, the recent drama which is consistent with Akwa Ibom APC is an aftermath of their bribery effort to thwart justice. It has failed again, and so like a naughty child, shedding crocodile tears is the stock in trade of the APC.

Like they did to Mike Igini, the APC had again sent one Maurice Ekpenyong to bribe Justice Jennifer Mbalamen Ijohor to manipulate the case at the election petition tribunal, but she refused to heed to their sinister move. And now, they are on it again, wailing and crying before media men. This is preposterous.

If not for judicial ethics, we would have called on Justice Jennifer Ijohor to testify whether Maurice Ekpenyong did not approach her with the intention of thwarting the cause of justice.

I read their lame argument as to why Jennifer Ijohor should resign. They cited the resignation of Hon. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, erstwhile president of the Court of Appeal, whose husband is said to be a strong APC supporter. They failed to understand that the PDP raised that issue before hearing commenced. What were they waiting for? Did they not know that Prof. Anthony Ijohor, husband to Justice Jennifer Ihojor was a PDP member? Why are they crying now?

The APC thought that they would have their way, because they have always believed that what money cannot do, more money can do. But this has become a farce. It does not hold water again. People have come to realize the damaging effect of thwarting justice, and have resisted by all means anything that would mortgage the integrity of the judiciary.

And this would never go well with the APC who are known for cutting corners and feasting on falsehood.

In all this, can the APC boldly say that the judgment of Justice Jennifer Ijohor reflects the judgment of a compromised judge? What argument do they have to prove that Justice Jennifer Ijohor would not be objective in the discharge of her responsibilities. Is it simply because her husband has been appointed Secretary to the Government of Benue State? What relationship does Benue state government have with Akwa Ibom state government ? Was Benue state before now not controlled by the APC? If Prof. Anthony Ijohor were to be appointed SSG by an APC governor, would Akwa Ibom APC shamelessly cry for help? What on earth has happened to Akwa Ibom APC that they have totally lost every sense of dignity, integrity and sincerity?

It is no longer funny.

Truth is, Akwa Ibom APC have seen their ill-prepared legal outing, just like their poor outing during the just concluded election, and they have sensed that they won't go anywhere. They are now crying. Even if Justice Jennifer Ijohor would resign, and another Judge takes over the case, Akwa Ibom APC would go no where. How would one man be the only person handling APC cases from governorship to National and State house of Assembly?

The truth has come to the market place, and there is nothing the APC can do. They can only cry, but their tears are more like the ones we see in movies. They are only good for entertainment. Let them continue to act their drama, we are following them as the scenes unfold.

[img][/img]Akwa Ibom Guber Tribunal: APC Plot To Manipulate Judgement Exposed, Moves To Lobby Appeal Court President, CJN

In what is believed as a last-ditched effort to influence the outcome of the Akwa Ibom State governorship election petition in which even witnesses called by the petitioners had testified that the election was free, credible, transparent and fair and that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won fair and square; the All Progressives Congress (APC) is now plotting to lobby the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa and Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Mohammed, in their bid to get the Tribunal judgement manipulated.

They are using a non-existent and unsubstantiated bogeyman involving a female judge at the tribunal.
A source, who confirmed the plot said the party leaders are jolted that instead of witnesses called by the party to corroborate the petitioners' claim that the election was rigged, they have insisted that the PDP won the elections free and square.

According to the source, chieftains of the APC left Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State for Abuja today, July 14, 2019 at about 4pm to specifically lobby the President of the Court of Appeal and the CJN.

The APC chieftains are to link up with a retired judge, who is a consultant to the APC on judiciary matters and another senior lawyer who is seen as very close to the Appeal Court President.

Another source, who is a prominent member of the APC, who craved anonymity said; "We don't want a breakdown of law and order in Akwa Ibom State and party affiliation apart, Governor Udom Emmanuel won the election fair and square. But our leaders are so desperate that they believe nothing is impossible and that the Tribunal judgement can be manipulated using what they called 'Abuja connections.'

"It was in furtherance to this plot to influence the judgement that the chieftains travelled to Abuja this evening. I was even among those who saw them off at the Airport in Uyo but my spirit is against anything that can cause crisis in my State."

"I think someone is giving them assurance somewhere but as for most of us the party leaders at the local governments are of the opinion that we should start preparing for 2023.

" I don't see how traveling to Abuja to see the President of the Court of Appeal; or the Chief Justice of the Nigeria, will affect a case on an election that we lost in all local government areas in Akwa Ibom State.

"Even a layman understands that our case is flawed. PDP won the State and I am not among those who go about deceiving themselves by grasping at straws.

" Those they are planning to see in Abuja will not manufacture evidence for us," the source, who's among the APC witnesses at the Tribunal said further.

The APC and its candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere are challenging the governorship election at the Tribunal despite losing in all local government areas in the State. They are also challenging the elections of the National and State House of Assembly.

It should be recalled that the elections in Akwa Ibom State were universally celebrated as the prime example of how to conduct free and credible elections under a hostile atmosphere.

International Observers celebrated the elections in the State, declaring the exercise as free and fair. Also the Police Commissioner in charge of the elections in the State, Ibrahim Kaoje in his report said the elections were credible, free and transparent.

Several prominent Nigerians including APC Governors like Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and other major players across the country's political divides have since congratulated Governor Udom Emmanuel and lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and credible elections in the State.

Akwa Ibom NASS Elections Tribunal: Desperate Akpabio seeks Presidency Cabal's help, declares support for RUGA Settlement

Desperate to secure favourable judgement at the National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, former Governor of the State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has opted to play ethnic card by throwing his weight behind the establishment of the controversial Ruga Settlement in his Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

Sources disclosed yesterday, that Akpabio, who is challenging the victory of Dr. Chris Ekpenyong of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District election at the tribunal, met a close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago to pledge his support for the controversial scheme, which is aimed at providing permanent settlement for nomadic Fulani herders.

The source said Senator Akpabio, met the President's ally, who is seen as a prominent member of the Presidency Cabal with a view to getting the cabal to reach out to the Tribunal, especially the Appeal Court President, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, on his behalf.

The source quoted Akpabio as promising that "once I return to the Senate, I will make sure that people from my Senatorial district consent to the establishment of Grazing Reserves in all Local Councils in the district."

Even though it was not clear if he was able to secure clear commitment, our said Senator Akpabio was told to come back in two weeks.

It should be recalled that the Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere had reportedly entered into a written agreement with the umbrella body of herdsmen in the country, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, to release lands in the 31 local councils in the State for the establishment of Cattle Colonies if elected as governor.

Ekere also agreed to the appointment of Fulani Heads, to be known as Sarkin Fulani for the Cattle Colonies, with the Sarkin Fulani having the same status as Traditional Rulers known in Akwa Ibom as Edidem.

On its part, the Miyetti Allah was reported to have promised a sum of N3.8 billion as financial contribution to Ekere’s election.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was dated January 15, 2019 was reportedly signed by Ekere at the instance of Senator Akpabio.

[img][/img]

Lere Olayinka, Media Aide to the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, has accused the State government of plot to assassinate him, saying that thugs stationed at the State Pavilion, Fajuyi in Ado Ekiti by the governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi fired gunshots at him at about 4pm today.

Olayinka, who is also the Director of Media and Publicity of the Atiku/Obi PDP Presidential Campaign Council in Ekiti State said more than 10 gunshots were fired at his direction and to the air by the thugs.

He said; "Today, at about 4pm, I narrowly escaped being shot by thugs stationed at the State Pavilion, Fajuyi in Ado Ekiti by the APC government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

"As I alighted alongside some members of the PDP Media Team from a bus that took us from the venue of the party's presidential rally, I notice a dark-skinned man running into a blue-coloured Hilux Van inside the Fajuyi State Pavilion.

"The man opened the driver's door and the next thing I heard were sporadic shootings, both at our direction and to the air.

"I counted more than 10 gunshots. Thank God however as we had moved to the other side of the road and were shielded by the pillars of the flyover bridge.

"Though the identity of the person who fired the shots could not be established, it is on record that the Fajuyi Pavilion has become the operational base of Fayemi's thugs led by one Deji Adesokan (Jaru).

"It is strange the security agencies in the State have looked the other way while the APC thugs operate freely at a Pavilion built by the PDP government of Fayose to host major government events and religious programmes."

Why insisting that he will not be intimidated by those he described as "criminals elements of a trigger happy government," Olayinka said; "By the power of God, I left the scene of the attack unhurt and let me tell Fayemi and his thugs that, my name is Lere Olayinka, my great grandfathers fought for the liberation of Ekitiland, I can't be intimidated."

Atiku takes campaign to Ekiti, Ondo on Monday

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will on Monday, January 14 storm Ekiti State with other leaders of the party in continuation of his campaign tour across the country.
[img][/img]
Director of Media and Publicity of the Atiku/Obi PDP Campaign Council in Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka said in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, that the presidential campaign train will have a stopover at Ikere-Ekiti before moving to Ado Ekiti, the State capital where homage will be paid to traditional rulers at the palace of the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe.

Olayinka, who said further that members and supporters of the PDP are expected at the State Pavilion, NTA Road in Ado Ekiti, venue of the rally from 9am added that the campaign train will also stop in Akure, Ondo State on Monday, move to Osun State on Tuesday, Lagos State on 17 and Ogun State on 19.

He said the rally was billed for the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, situated at the center of the State capital but the State Government declined only to approve the use of the State Pavilion, located at the outskirt of the town.

Olayinka urged the people of the State to troope out en-masse to give rousing welcome to the PDP presidential candidate, who he declared as the “next president of Nigeria by the grace of God.”

On the parallel campaign council inaugurated by the Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, Olayinka said; “That one goes to no issue. The campaign council at the national level is relating with the Chairman, Prof Kolapo Olusola and the Director General, Chief Dipo Anisulowo.

He said “the stand of the party as well as the campaign council, which Senator Olujimi must abide with is that those in the House of Assembly, who are still claiming to be PDP members but working against the party by being instrumental to the suspension of 12 assembly members as well as the sack of elected council chairmen and councilors who are members of the party will not be accorded recognition.”

Barrister Femi Falana (SAN) has petitioned the inspector general of police to as a matter of urgency arrest and prosecute those criminals involved in the killings of Ekiti sons and daughters under the watch of former governor Dr Kayode Fayemi.

The petition came on the heels of statement made by a social media activist Mr. Bola Agboola alleging the onetime right activist of maintaining "Criminal Silence" over the dastardly acts of the APC led government under Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Denying maintaining "criminal silence" over the politically motivated killings, Falana said, "On 4/11/13 one Foluso Ogundare was brutally attacked by suspected political thugs at Emure Ekiti. He was rushed to the hospital. Regrettably he gave up the ghost on 5/11/13. As I was in Abuja for a case at the material time I petitioned the Inspector-General of Police on 6/11/13 wherein I called for the arrest and prosecution of the criminals who carried out the dastardly act.

"I was assured that the office of the Inspector-General of Police would take over the case from the Ekiti state police command. Thereafter, at a meeting with the Director General of the State Security Service later that day over the illegal detention of Mrs Clara at the Government House, Enugu I called for en end to impunity in Ekiti state. So far, all the suspects arrested in connection with the gruesome murder at Emure have been transferred to Abuja for interrogation. Without any prompting or blackmail from any quarters whatsoever I am keenly following up the matter until the suspects are charged to court.

"I was on my way to Lagos in the evening of 6/11/13 when my attention was drawn to the reckless statement of one Bola Agboola to the effect that I was maintaining “criminal silence” over the killings in Ekiti state. Although I know the fellow who instigated the objectionable statement I decided to ignore it. But since some people have genuinely expressed concern over the imminent descent to anarchy in Ekiti state (under the APC led government) I wish to asserverate that I could not keep silent over killings and other human rights infringements in any part of Nigeria.

"Under the Kayode Fayemi regime I have never maintained “criminal silence” over killings. In the previous cases of killings and other politically motivated attacks in Ekiti state I have consistently demanded that the suspects be brought to book. It is public knowledge that the chairman of the ruling party in Ekiti state is currently standing trial for murder.

"But since the allegation of “criminal silence” exists in the warped imagination of some misguided political elements they have deliberately suppressed my regular condemnation of violent attacks in Ekiti state under the Kayode Fayemi government. Notwithstanding that the allegation is spurious and uncalled for I wish to advise such characters to goggle the following publications:

(1)” Killings: Falana threatens FG, firms with law suit”

(2)” Falana seeks arrest, prosecution of culprits”

(3)”Falana condemns Iyin Ekiti violence”.

"I shall cause my letter to the Inspector-General of Police to be published within the next 48 hours. But those who sincerely believe in the sanctity of the life of every citizen must rise above partisan politics to demand for the prosecution of all criminal suspects in Ekiti state under the APC led government. It is my fervent conviction that we can take advantage of the barbaric murder of Foluso Ogundare, Murphy Jeje, Madam Juliana Adewunmi, etc to say NEVER AGAIN in Ekiti state!"

Politics / Nigerian Mirror: Fayose: Buhari Using Corrupt EFCC To Fight Corruption.... by tosdeb(m): 5:16am On Jul 07, 2016
Fayose: Buhari using corrupt EFCC to fight corruption, says; "EFCC should stop media trial"

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has declared that President Mohammadu Buhari was using an equally corrupt Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stamp out corruption in Nigeria, insisting that the President must start the corruption fight from his party and immediate aides since charity begins from home.

The governor said; “EFCC opinions remain their opinions and if they are so sure of whatever information they have, they should go to court and stop subjecting Nigerians to media trial and that no amount of media trial from the same elements that orchestrated my removal in 2006 can erode my popularity among Ekiti people.”

He said any property that may be linked to him or his company was bought legitimately and his properties were duly declared in his assets declaration form and sources of such funds were not illicit.

In a release issued on Wednesday by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, maintained that his election was funded by Zenith Bank as well as donations from friends and associates, adding that; "As a promising candidate of my party, I cannot stop Nigerians from supporting my election like every other candidates of other political, including President Buhari."

He said since the money he got for his election was from legitimate sources and not from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) as being concocted, how the money was spent remained his own business and not that of anyone.

The governor also debunked the reported allegation by the EFCC that he received bribe from any contractor in Ekiti; saying; "if they have anything against me, they should keep their gun powder dry.

"Because in 2006 when they took me to court, their allegations crumbled like pack of cards because court decisions are founded on facts and law, and not on media trial as currently being done by the EFCC as teleguided by the APC in their desperation to set the people against me knowing fully that they are not on ground."

He said "having failed to buy the conscience of Ekiti House of Assembly members, the APC people have become increasingly afraid of 2018 and that the agencies of the Federal Government should know that no matter how hard they try, Ekiti electorate will not be deceived by their blackmail and media trial.

Governor Fayose said “The EFCC should be told in clear terms that this is 2016 and not 2006 when impeachment notices against governors were signed on the table of EFCC operatives. Those who are teleguiding the EFCC now should also be reminded that they did more than what they are doing now in 2006, yet I was overwhelmingly voted for by the Ekiti people eight years after the orchestrated impeachment which the Supreme Court declared illegal."

The governor asked; "Should Nigerians now conclude that EFCC is an appendage of APC? Is the EFCC for investigation of corrupt practices among all Nigerians or members of opposition parties alone?"

The governor said; “As at today, I have not been accused of stealing a dime from Ekiti treasury. EFCC has not also said that Ekiti money was stolen and that my election was funded with Ekiti State money."

Accusing the EFCC of carrying out the APC agenda to force him out of office as was done in 2006, the governor said; “It is sad that some politicians from Ekiti State now resume and close in EFCC offices in Lagos and Abuja and we wonder whether those politicians have now taken over the job of EFCC.”

He maintained that he will continue to speak his mind on issues affecting Nigerians and can never be cowed, saying; "Nigerians are suffering. States can no longer pay workers salary, a litre of kerosene is now N220, a bag of rice is now N20,000 and some people will sit in Presidential Villa and expect that all of us should keep silent? That's not possible!

"No amount of media trial by agents of the Buhari-led APC government will make me to stop baring my mind on the cluelessness of the Federal Government."

Politics / Nigerian Mirror: Fayose Dismisses Ekiti APC 102 Petitions Against 2014 Guber.... by tosdeb(m): 10:44am On Jul 04, 2016
Fayose dismisses Ekiti APC 102 petitions against 2014 guber election, says; “IGP should be mindful of desperate paper-weight guber aspirants”

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has told the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop chasing shadows on the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the State and wait for 2018, saying; “writing over 100 petitions to the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on an election conducted two years ago and was adjudged as free, fair and credible even by the international community, including the United States of America government is a demonstration of the APC desperation to throw Ekiti State into chaos just because the party lost power.”

Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the governor, Lere Olayinka, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, wondered how many petitions should have been written against the Presidential Election if APC could write over 100 petitions against an election held in just 16 out of the 774 Local Councils in the country.”

The governor, who advised the new IGP not to allow himself to dragged into the Ekiti State APC blinded show of political desperation, added that; “the IGP should maintain the culture of professional policing and maintenance of rule of law as done by his immediate predecessor, Mr Solomon Arase. He should be mindful of being drawn into needless political fights orchestrated by some APC governorship aspirants in Ekiti State just because of fear of 2018.”

He pointed out that; “assuming but not conceding that offences were committed by anyone before, during and after the election held two years ago, the Ekiti State Police Command would have carried out its investigation and made anyone found culpable to face the law.

“It should also be pointed out that it is the duty of the Attorney General of Ekiti State to prosecute anyone that committed any offence in Ekiti State and not that of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

“Most importantly, the IGP should be mindful of the reality that writing over 100 petitions to the police, two years after an election was won and lost and expecting the police to embark on wanton arrest of innocent Ekiti people is a clear invitation to anarchy and it is hoped that the new IGP won’t begin his career as the number one police officer in Nigeria with the ridiculous action of running after PDP members in Ekiti State instead of focussing on the growing insecurity in the country.”

Speaking further, the governor said; “If the APC bad losers in Ekiti State are still making noise over an election they lost in all the 16 Local Councils in the State two years ago, Nigerians should ask questions as to whether it was through the use of security agents that the PDP won the Presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections last year.

“The IGP should be mindful of the fact that as at today, dispute on the governorship election has become functus officio because as a general rule, once a tribunal has reached a final decision in respect to the matter that is before it in accordance with its enabling statute, that decision cannot be revisited.

“The IGP should also be reminded that the US Department of State and other International Observers, which observed the election, praised security forces (including the police) for collaborating effectively in providing a safe environment free of major incidents.

“Therefore, these petitions, which are obviously meant to orchestrate the harassment and intimidation of PDP members in Ekiti State and notable functionaries of the government should be ignored by the IGP while the police boss focusses on the greater task of resolving the security problems being faced by the country.”

Goodbye democracy.
I regret voting for this man. Maybe because I was not born when he first ruled Nigeria.
I was told of his totalitarianism, but I thought it was another PDP ploy to rule for 60years.
Couldn't it have been better if PDP had been left to rule for 60years?
Goooood!!!

I am very sure, before 2019, there will be no single opposition left to contend with Buhari. It is going to be Buhari vs Buhari

Politics / Nigerian Mirror: EFCC Forcing Me To Implicate Fayose - Agbele by tosdeb(m): 6:32am On Jul 04, 2016
Mr. Abiodun Agbele, a friend of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may not be off the hook of the anti-graft agency soon as the EFCC is said to be pressurising him to implicate Governor Fayose as a condition for his release from detention.

Mr. Agbele, who was invited to come to the EFCC office in Abuja on June 28, 2016 was arrested by operatives of the anti-corruption agency in Lagos on June 27, 2016 and is still being detained by the EFCC. He is being detained as part of the EFCC’s investigation of a sum of N4.7 billion allegedly received from the office of the national security adviser, ONSA, through the former minister of state for defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.

Informed source in the EFCC disclosed that Mr. Agbele was said to have insisted that he did not receive any money from Senator Obanikoro or anyone from the NSA office under embattled Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd). According to an inside source, he only wrote a two paged statement.

“EFCC appears to be at crossroad now because Agbele was said to have maintained that he won’t lie against himself by saying what did not happen. Agbele was said to be insisting that funds only got into his account through Zenith Bank donations, and not from the NSA office,” the source said.
Governor Fayose had stated that his election was funded by the Zenith Bank Plc, mainly, fundraising, donations from friends and associates as well as sales of campaign souvenirs. He said further that he had no financial transaction whatsoever with the ONSA under Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) or Senator Musiliu Obanikoro in “any way, shape or form”.

The governor also challenged EFCC to publish statements made by Senator Obanikoro, his son or any other person associated with money from the NSA office where they claimed they gave him money for the election, adding that what the anti-corruption agency was doing was part of the grand plot to intimidate and harass him into submission.

“Agbele was said to have told the EFCC that money was transferred to his account by the Zenith Bank and it was Governor Fayose that introduced him to Zenith Bank as part of the bank’s arrangement to fund his election. He has also said that he was not a politician and that he never had any financial dealing with Obanikoro or the former NSA. Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

“However, EFCC is only interested in getting a link between funds allegedly received from the NSA office and Governor Fayose, and Agbele is believed to be the only one that can provide that link. Thus, Agbele may have been given the option of either making statements to implicate Governor Fayose by creating the needed link or remain incarcerated for as along as they desired,” the source said....
