@All, I want to learn programming too, and I have started studying HTML, then CSS, then jscript, then PHP in that sequence.., but this stories am hearing about PHP, makes me wanna "gbes"! but I ain't gone give up! and beside, am lookiing at doing MCSA - the database track, I mean MS SQL Server 2012, I have SQL server instance installed on my ubuntu, for study purposes and practise and also doing some reading with CBT nugget, (video tutorial) on 70-461 exam..

So I need advice, should I continue learning programming alongside my MCSA or should I just focus on my 70-461,
but I read it somewhere that, to do well in IT you have got to be versatile!!!

running ubuntu from the disk ha been posing a lot of problem, so I put on the disk , and I have been running my ubuntu from the disk with no issues but I wanna try and install it on my oracle virtual machine also called Virtual Box,

@AKBliv010, pls what exactly are u trying to explain sir,

@matix me, what if my data got erased while trying to install ubuntu on my virtual box, will I get my data back too ?

Yes, am gone do a back up. Am still looking for an external HD to do that, but since I was running it on a virtual box, it doesn't have to affect my. Primary OS(window 7), else, it will be a disaster, because I have Microsoft SQL server 2012 running there, with lots of queries, and data, that I cannot afford to lose, as well as the installation and configuration of the MS SQL 2012 , a friend of mind in US did the installation and configuration on my sys remotely unsing (Team viewer ). So if this so called "ubuntu " which I like to explore, will cost me that... I think I gotta ball.... .
And conversely, even if I should back up my files, and "lubuntu or xubuntu, or unbuntu " now eventually do that to my sys, and Am gonna have to go through the rigour of "begging " my friend to do it remotely again. He will definitely kill me....Lolzzzz,

One more Thing, After unbuntu, I will still have a date with Kali, cos of its security feature, but I was made to know that, ubuntu also has some security Apps one can download, so there won't be any need for the "kali"
@ whytelon, you are u using kali!!!! What's your experience and every one else who come across kali.

@AKBLIV010 , I didn't at first, my bad!! but I just did that now, and I got a place where I have the following :

installation type :
"this computer currently has no detected OS, what would u like to do?

1 erase disk and install ubuntu
warning : This will delete all ur programme, pics, music and other files in all OS

2 encrypt d new ubuntu installation for security

3 use LVM with d new ubuntu installation


4 something else .........bla bla bla.......

so I was wondering which which the option should I choose

@whytelon: I was trying to install ubuntu on my OVM, but I keep getting an error message saying " This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU, unable to boot - pls make sure a kernel appropriate for you CPU "
I guess my OVM is not x86-64 CPU, don know what's wrong!

@All, I have the same issue too,
It was the USB i was using , tried about 3 different USB, after putting my ubuntu( the right version downloaded from their site ), its still not booting -of which i had already set my sys to boot form USB. i later found out that some USB do act funny sometimes , so i left usb for DVD

After putting the ubuntu on the dvd , i booted the system from dvd, and " sonic boom" , it worked ! i have been playing around with it for a while now, ubuntu is cool mehn... Although i still have my windows. I have OVM ( oracle virtual machine ) installed on my sys, so i guess after a while i will decided to install it preferably on the ovm , cos of issues associated with running it side by side with windows, as the case of vicben.
So i will suggest vicben should download ovm and put the ubuntu there.

I want to get in touch with my friend in the US/UK maybe they can get it for over there .. or better still do you have anyplace in mind i can get the material? I have done a lot of research online to get the materials but all to no avail, and i received the curriculum you sent to me both DOWNSTREAM/UPSTREAM...
ALSO there a particular number you dropped long time ago for sap material, so i was wondering if i can get the mat. from him..
