Respect means different things to different people, although there's a general baseline called courtesy which is expected in normal interaction.

The Romans and the Greeks influenced Egypt, just as Egypt influenced theirs. It will not be a wild guess to extrapolate the sources of the words like Ubi, ila, Oro e.t.c. to Latin language. We were not there in ancient past and we cannot exactly state the number of migrations into Yorubaland back then. It is on this basis that we look at these sources.

I think this roman influence was discussed awhile back, traditional yoruba housing designs seem to show this model, however its unknown where the influence came from and when exactly it arrived.
