El-Zakzaky replies Gumi, accuses him of working for Isreal

Kaduna- Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, yesterday, replied the open letter written to him by a prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Abubakar Gumi, accusing him of working for Isreal.

Gumi had in his widely published letter, yesterday, said that El-Zakzaky was leading a band of lawless youths which often attracted state-sponsored violence on them. He also accused the Zaria-based leader of the shiites in the country of preaching. Hate and dividing the Muslim Ummah.

However, in his response, through the media wing of his organisation, El-Zakzaky rejected Gumi’s reference to him as brother in his letter which was meant to condole on the loss of his three children, saying Gumi was shedding crocodile tears.

El-zaKzaky’s letter signed by Mallam Usman read in part: ” We are not surprised with the content of an open letter written by Dr. Gumi, meant for His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheen Yaqoub Zakzaky at this particular time (forget the sinister ‘My Brother’ tone and crocodile tears of condolence).

“This is not the first time Dr. Gumi is complaining of the Islamic Movement led by Sheikh Zakzaky are bloking public roads in the name of procession.

In 2009, Gumi registered the same complaint during Tafsir in Sultan Bello Mosque. He went abroad dangerously to call on the government to shoot those he called ‘Shi’iites blocking public roads.

“We believe than the letter was written with insidious intent to pave the way for a greater. Onslaught on the Islamic Movement and Sheikh zakzaky. It was also meant to incite Muslims against those. Referred to as Shi’te.

‘The arrogant world powers U. S and Isreal, are now all out to assassinate Sheikh Zakzaky and unleash terrorist attacks on all public gatherings of the movement, especially the Arba’een symbolic trek.

“This is exactly what Dr. Gumi is doing through the letter. He is doing their dirty work. For 53. Gumi who has lost credibility even among his circles to claim that, the Shi’tes are chanting “hate song”, is like the pot calling the kettle black. In most of his talk shows that he calls Tafsir, he spends substantial part of his time unleashing venoms on Shi’tes and Sheikh ZakZaky while his uninformed. And unruly listeners pollutes the air with war cry.

“For long Dr. Gumi has lost credibility among the Muslim fold, as he constantly sells Isreal above Muslims Ummar, describing Jews as the most religious and intelligent race over Muslims”.

Jihadist attacks around the world in November killed a total of 5,042 people, showing Islamist extremism is “stronger than ever” despite Al-Qaeda’s declining role, a new study published on Thursday said.
There were 664 attacks in 14 countries during the month, according to the joint report by the BBC World Service and the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) at King’s College London.
The research found Islamic State jihadists in Iraq and Syria were responsible for around half of the violence — 308 attacks responsible for 2,206 deaths.
“The data makes it clear that jihadists and Al-Qaeda are no longer one and the same,” the report said.
It said that 60 percent of the killing was done by groups with no formal association with Al-Qaeda, pointing to “an increasingly ambitious, complex, sophisticated and far-reaching movement”.
“It seems obvious that the jihadist movement… (is) stronger than ever and that countering (it) will be a generational challenge,” the research said.
The worst-affected country was Iraq — where deaths accounted for around a third of the monthly total — followed by Nigeria, Afghanistan and Syria.
The study is the first of its kind and could not be compared to previous monthly statistics.
