You guys are not telling him the truth. He said no job, bank account not substantial, essentially, no home ties. And you think one consular officer will give him a TRV to visit his SPOUSE?

Thanks a lot..I don't intend to apply till next month after marriage hence the reason for stating her as wife. I appreciate your input so far.

So you mean she was in the US on a visitor visa and then she applied to visit Canada from there?
travelpoint:
If you have US visa, I think is better to apply for Canada visit/tourist visa while in US.
I applied for Canada visit visa for my wife on June 6th this year, she did biometric same day. I withdrawal her application after 3 months in late September because the application was not finalized. She currently in US, and I reapplied for her in October. Below is the timeline;
- Application submitted online on October 17
- Biometric on October 17 at VAC New York
- Passport request on October 22nd
- passport delivered by hand on October 24th at VAC NY
- Passport picked up on October 28 at VAC New York
- Application approved with multiple visa valid till 4th of February 2021.

Documents included were;
- her passport date page
- my bank statement ( 2 months bank statements printed online)
- marriage certificate
- United Airlines flight itinerary
- Details info of where we are going in canada
- 4 nights hotel reservation through hotwire
- No invitation letter included

Because you do not currently have strong ties in Nigeria, your best bet is for your PR spouse to sponsor you to migrate to Canada. It should take about 12 months. You can see the guidelines here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5525ETOC.asp and here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp If your status in Nigeria changes (good job etc) before the process is completed, you would then still have a chance, albeit a slim one, to obtain a visitor visa even if she is sponsoring your trip. The idea is to have enough ties that guarantee you will want to return to Nigeria if you are applying for a non-immigrant visa

I know someone who was issued a visa yesterday. One year multiple entry. His passport will expire in 2021. So it appears that theory of getting a visa that lapses at passport expiration isn't absolute

It seems Canada has not been issuing visas of last as no transcripts of successful applicants have been posted lately.
Please share you transcript if your application has been granted, from time line, document submitted, location of submission, fees etc tongue

Let's be honest: That line in the application form is very confusing. The one asking people if they have been denied by any country before.

The way it is structured, if you do not calm down and read it properly, you would think they are only asking about Canada.

They need to make that question clearer. Otherwise, many people will continue to fall victim by answering "No"
