Technology Market / The Impact Of Technology On Travel And Tourism In The Africa Continent by Traveltechno: 8:32am On Oct 05, 2017
One cannot deny the pivotal role Technology plays within the Travel sector. ( http://www.quadlabs.com/xchange/online-booking-engine )

Our day-to-day lives are made easier through the use of the internet and technology – whether it be on our mobile devices, at home or in the work place using a desktop or laptop. Constant and continuous developments in technology have now made this achievable on a global scale.

It’s seen by many that technology and social media – has created a global village, connecting everybody to everyone, everywhere. Some might argue that using technology has made us less sociable, inhibiting face to face and physical interaction. However, the concept that globalization and technology allows us to overcome the limitations of physical distance through our finger tips, presents countless opportunities for the travel and tourism industry to flourish.

People travel to distances far and beyond and will continue to travel around the world to experience new things in life and advances in technology are there to influence and inspire this: not prohibit.

Whilst an individual’s travel experience doesn't necessarily start physically until they arrive at the airport departures or even the destination itself, technology has helped to allow this experience to begin from the moment a person has the aspiration to go somewhere, if not creating that aspiration itself. Experience is the key word – and it’s equally as important for companies to provide a positive experience for customers from the moment they decide to exercise these ideas; from idea and plan to the experience itself as well as post-travel sharing and feedback.

In today’s world, travel agendas rarely rely on trusted word-of-mouth recommendations and physical guidebooks; breakthroughs in digitization have given customers independence and choice in a really big way. The main purpose of travel is essentially about connecting – places, people, experiences and memories. One thing that technology does well, is connect things.

Websites, booking platforms, apps and using social media all provide the opportunity to engage and connect with customers on a variety of levels to allow an enhanced travel experience. Now that this information for customers is easily accessible (through various mediums), it inevitably means that it’s important for companies to get smarter and adapt to remain competitive.

In summary, developments in technology have led to big changes in the way that customers use it to enhance their full travel experience. Travel companies must constantly evolve to continue providing their end users development with the best customer experience possible.

What can travel and tourism companies do to keep up?

The answer to that is pretty simple – they must make sure they are utilising the latest technologies available to give customers what they need. A starting point would be to ask the following questions:

• Is my website easy to navigate?

• Can my website be used on a mobile device?

• Does my website use stunning images to inspire travellers?

• Once a customer has booked their trip – how do they stay in contact with us and access their information?

• How can they share their experiences with friends/family?

What next?

Technology Market / How Travel Technology Help Travel Company To Stay At The Top? by Traveltechno: 10:20am On Jun 14, 2017
Travelling is necessary, whether it is for a family, a group of friends or a business. Everyone, at some point or another, needs to travel from one place to another. However, the process is quite frequent in a business organization, regardless of the size of the company as they constantly find themselves sending their employees and sales people to networking events, seminars and conventions all over the globe. This sure is a very tiring and stressful process for managers and business owners who may have used several different techniques every time to make the travel of their personnels easier and flexible. However, it is quite understandable if they couldn’t be able to properly manage their corporate travel as it is a very challenging task to accomplish.

That is why one should contract a corporate travel management firm for the proper management of their corporate travels. A quality and established corporate travel management company contain all the expertise and experience required to make your business travel a piece of cake. You would be immensely surprised to see how much time and money and of course, effort have been saved by outsourcing your business travel to a travel management company.

Since the emergence of travel technology, travelling to any destination has been a lot comfortable, both for people who are vacationing with friends or family or for a business deal. It was extremely difficult for business firms to organize and manage such global business travels without proper tools and knowledge. This would make their visit an expensive and uncomfortable one. This is because in a business travel, many things need to be well considered, thus, in case of emergency, employees wouldn’t find themselves in a cage. A good travel management company would let you have no worries at all and make all the necessary arrangements as the time and need arrives, making the travel and stay of the employees a contented one.

They use latest travel technology and corporate booking tool to help the business book business flights, reservations in an established hotel and accomodation with all business needs, car rental to pick up and drop the employees to other locations at will, etc. Furthermore, they also provide devices to the employees allowing them to interact with their company as needed. Thus, it is easy to say that every business firm should hire a corporate travel management company to organize and manage their business travel as it would eliminate the stress and pressure from your shoulder to provide a comfortable and safe visit of your employees and divert your time on other important things.

Travel technology has truly helped millions of vacationers to enjoy their holidays at their best, but also converted the world into the global business village where organizations of all scales can systematize their corporate travels within their budget and necessities. Therefore, if you are also one of those business who frequently need to send their employees to different cities or even countries, then better appoint a business travel firm.

Travel / What Is Meaning Of Travel Technology & How It Is Helpful To Travel Agencies? by Traveltechno: 11:09am On May 18, 2017
Travel technology (also called tourism technology, and hospitality automation) is the application of Information Technology (IT) or Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. One form of travel technology is flight tracking, flight number and al the information about booking.

Since travel implies locomotion, travel technology was originally associated with the computer reservations system (CRS) of the airlines industry, but now is used more inclusively, incorporating the broader tourism sector as well as its subset the hospitality industry. While travel technology includes the computer reservations system, it also represents a much broader range of applications, in fact increasingly so. Travel technology includes virtual tourism in the form of virtual tour technologies. Travel technology may also be referred to as e-travel / etravel or e-tourism / etourism (eTourism), in reference to "electronic travel" or "electronic tourism".

eTourism can be defined as the analysis, design, implementation and application of IT and e-commerce solutions in the travel & tourism industry; as well as the analysis of the respective economic processes and market structures and customer relationship management.

From a communication science perspective, eTourism can be also defined as every application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) within both the hospitality and tourism industry, as well as within the tourism experience.

Travel technology is increasingly being used to describe systems for managing and monitoring travel, including travel tracking and flight tracking systems.

In other contexts, the term "travel technology" can refer to technology intended for use by travelers, such as light-weight laptop computers with universal power supplies or satellite Internet connections.

it is helpful to travel agencies with the following technologies and services

• B2B Dashboard: Empower travel agents to centrally manage all their B2B agents and subagents.

Travel / What Is The Differentiation Between Otas And Direct Booking Features? by Traveltechno: 11:26am On May 05, 2017
There’s no doubt that online travel agencies (OTAs) have expanded market share over the years. And with that, commissions also have grown. There are places where a hotel simply isn’t going to have the reach to get in front of guests during very soft periods or where they might reach into markets where they don’t have the ability to serve

OTAs became powerful and efficient due to good work (and a little brand-jacking). Before, hotels sold to wholesalers, who sold to tour operators, who sold to travel agents and finally to guests. Transparency in this markup system was non-existent. Neither the hotel nor the guest knew how much was being paid. When OTAs entered this space, they gave control back to the hotels and guests received a clear picture of how much they were going to pay.

To search online reviews of hotels or other premises also have proven fruitful and decisive in order to make or break deals. The OTAs accurately display various travel options like room prices, location, images, search, comparison and filter tools along with a quick booking process. A sharp shift towards technology has brought laurels to people who are happy to explore by their own along with a cost-effective compliment tagged along.

Online Travel market has seen a marvelous wave of growth and brought a change in the perception of consumer’s plans to book their trips. It is an amalgam of crucial factors leading to the growth of this Industry. It has now become vital for the travel companies to reach out to their customers through a fast, reliable and cost effective way.

QuadLabs have ready to deliver OTA solutions, in which they will have following features:

B2C online booking portal
Multi branded B2C websites
Dynamic packaging (flight + Hotel)
Flight booking engine
Hotel and other land product booking engines
Holiday booking engine
Integrated CRM system
Online payment gateway
Integrated front desk solution
Promo code management for marketing
B2C profile management – My bookings, Booking vouchers, Cancelation – linked with bookings
Post sale support – Reschedule and Cancelation
Mid office system – Booking management, Front desk management, Supplier management, Service fee management
Mobile application iOS and Android

Where else many brands introducing initiatives to refocus on direct bookings.

They will be looking for a tailored experience. In direct booking hotels can provide flexibility regarding the choice of rooms available, re-booking, points to use and price negotiations.

Most hotels would love to have 100% of their bookings be direct without having to pay commission to anyone. We have achieved this with some clients but it’s not necessarily the best solution and certainly isn’t the fastest.

Per a recent Google survey, 52% of travelers will visit your hotel’s website after seeing you on an OTA. And 20% of direct bookings occurred after the guest found the hotel on an OTA. Which shows us, being on an OTA can also increase your direct bookings.

The classic booking path for a guest starts with a search on an OTA. Then they make a shortlist of interesting hotels and check each hotel website for more information. The user gets frustrated if they don’t find the same room types, names, pictures and cancellation policies. Due to this, the user can leave your site and head back to the OTA. And OTAs can absolutely play a role in that when it works for you.”

Technology Market / How Are Travel Technology And Mobility Solutions Bringing A Revolution by Traveltechno: 6:43am On Apr 18, 2017
The increased use of mobile data features in present times is not hidden from anyone. The statistics show that most people prefer to use data services on their mobile as compared to their computers or laptops. Given this trend, the tourism industry is also affected by it and sees an immense need to move towards using more and more mobile apps.

Mobile apps give the option to customize and choose the content according to their needs and preferences at the very beginning while they launch their app. Moreover, it is easier to track and observe user activities and design the recommendations accordingly. Additionally, mobile phones also give the option to track and identify a real-time geographic location which makes it easier for travel agencies to make more relevant recommendations in terms of flights, hotels or other sight-seeing options.

(1) Mobile Apps Provide More Ease To Send Notifications

Mobile phones have really changed the ways notification is sent to its users. Traditionally, it was only restricted to flyers, banners or emails but these days mobile apps allow push notifications and in-app notifications. Push notifications are sent to users from time-to-time and they receive it on their phone regardless of the fact that they open the particular app or not. This is great for tourism industry because they can use this feature to send notifications about recent offers and sale options. According to statistics, there has been a 40% increase in the number of clicks through this method. On the contrary, in-app notifications are received by users when they open the app so this is also an immediate way of informing people about various deals when they log in to the mobile app.

(2) User-Friendly And Easy To Spend Time On Apps

Mobile apps are definitely more user-friendly and easier to log into as compared to the websites. The statistics show that mobile users spend as much as 86% of their time on mobile apps and as little as 14% of their time on websites. Therefore, it is only obvious that there are more chances of tourism companies to advertise about their deals and offers if they provide mobile app services.

(3) Saves Cost And Increase Productivity

Apps help in easy data management which saves the time of employees so they can utilize this time in other activities that contribute towards increasing productivity. Apps also save a lot of costs because it is easy to build and maintain in the long run as compared to websites that are slower and requires more inputs.

(4) Increased Security With Existing Systems

With mobile apps, it is easier to integrate them with the security system of your phone so it can provide a higher level of security as compared to laptops or computers. There is some software available in the market that can lock down the apps in case of malware and threat to your device. This provides the higher scope of security for both users and the app providers. This is an important feature for the tourism industry because a lot of transactions take place on these websites and hence it becomes very important to secure sensitive bank account and card details.

In the end, it can be stated with full confidence that moving towards app-based business is the right step for the tourism industry if they want to generate continuous profits.

QuadLabs is a leading travel technology provider, giving tour operators and travel agencies methods to adapt to these travel trends and increase their business’s potential to get higher return on investment.

Technology Market / The Changing Landscape Of Travel by Traveltechno: 10:39am On Apr 13, 2017
Mobile devices were once just pieces of equipment that helped us connect with others. Today, they have become such an integral part of the way we live and breathe — not only do these provide entertainment and an immediate source of information, these have also changed the way we interact with people and the physical environment. Unsurprisingly, this has meant that the way people travel has changed — travellers are now able to discover places they want to go to and interact with the world, be it before, during or after they have gone on their trips.

It is clear upon analysing planning and booking trends on TripAdvisor that mobile usage continues to rise and shape the future. In India, 60 per cent of Internet users access it via their mobile phone and as Internet users in India continue to grow, this is set to increase substantially in the coming years. Those who use their smartphone to plan or book their travel are the ones we call ‘Connected Travellers’.

Currently, 47 per cent of travellers in India are ‘Connected Travellers.’ This puts India in the 9th place globally for the highest proportion of travellers who are enabled by their mobile devices, leaving highly connected countries like the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan trailing in this category.

And research shows us mobile Apps are becoming a more popular channel for travellers to book their accommodation — TripBaro meter research showed the number of people using a mobile App to book their accommodation doubling from 2014 to 2015, and we anticipate this to continue rising year on year.

Our analysis reveals that those who booked via a mobile App were seen to be habitual users, with one in four (24 per cent) saying they would usually book via this channel. But what was most interesting was that Connected Travellers were twice as likely as global travellers to make travel related bookings via their mobile device. Almost 45 per cent of these savvy mobile travellers also use their smartphones to book activities for their trip, while only 28 per cent of global travellers do so.

The mobile phenomenon has also enabled these ‘Connected Travellers’ to use their smartphones whilst on their trip — turning their devices into real-time travel companions that they can turn to at any point. Forty-four per cent said they brought them on trips to organise themselves more efficiently and even to book accommodations on the go (37 per cent). 72 per cent of these savvy travellers also used their smartphones to search for restaurants; 67 per cent to find things to do and 64 per cent to read reviews. This has given us a powerful way to connect directly with the traveller, delivering more value to both our users whilst on-the go and helping them discover and enjoy the places that they visit, making their trips special. Connected travel will continue to be at the forefront of travel and the industry should continue to look at ways to further enable the travel discovery of this group of travellers. I, for one, am certainly looking forward to all the amazing things that my ‘best friend’ will be able to do for me and my travels in the future.

QuadLabs is a leading travel technology provider, giving tour operators and travel agencies methods to adapt to these travel trends and increase their business’s potential to get higher return on investment.

Technology Market / What Are Some Travel Trends Followed By The Travel Technology Companies In 2017 by Traveltechno: 12:27pm On Apr 07, 2017
Let’s have a look at some of the trends followed by the travel sector in 2017.

Drone Photography

This holiday season would be awesome with aerial shots offered by drones. Due to certain bitter experiences caused by inexperienced drone pilots, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented the rule which suggests that the drone owners require a license.

Personalized Travel

Travel technology app will help to provide travel technological services for each individual. Based on the previous hotel booking details, hotels can analyse the purchase behaviour of the traveler. This information can be obtained by analysing the booking placed through app or website. It helps in providing personalised information for the clients. For e.g.; MyMagic+ wristband system of Disney helps in collecting online information of the visitors.

VR Travel

Virtual Reality travel or VR travel will let the travelers explore the destinations before they place booking software. It provides the real feel of being at the destinations with the help of devices like Samsung Gear or Oculus Rift. It was initially launched by Marriott hotels. VR technology has kicked off in 2016. It is expected that more travel agents would adopt this feature when the devices are available at an affordable rate.

Cloud Passports

Right now, Australian citizens own biometric passports. It is capable of storing personal information like digital photo, biometric data and other identification details in it. This helps in avoiding the requirement of carrying the passport for each journey. Also, it helps to eliminate the chances of missing passports or getting it stolen by someone. Duplicity of the passport can also be reduced to a great extent using this travel technological advent.

Meanwhile, an app called Mobile Passport Control is being tested by border control at airports in Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, and Seattle. It helps the user to provide information and submit it electronically. However, the travelers are expected to carry their physical passports for the time being.

Those days are long gone when you require to run from one post to another to get your tickets booked. With the arrival of online travel portals, there is no need to be concerned about planning your holidays way ahead of the time in order to book your flight or train tickets or hotel reservations. With the advancement in travel technology solutions, many travel portals have been established, providing the user with convenience and ease of booking cheap and preferred tickets and hotels through discount codes and deals. However, these travel portals not only aid travelers in their tours, but offer a great impact on travel agents as well.

There are several travel agents out there looking to attract more and more customers.
