Pulse NG - Students have been asked to vacate hostels and the university premises not later then 12 noon on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

On Tuesday, September 14, students of the university emptied into streets to protest the imposition of a N20,000 late registration fee by the institution.

The students also mounted road blocks at the entrance of the university's main campus in Ugbowo, a course of action that affected free flow of traffic in and around the Benin metropolis.

A terse statement from the university reads as follows:

"The Vice Chancellor has reviewed the agitation by a section of the students' body.

"After due consultation, and in the overall interest of the general students' body, the vice chancellor has, on behalf of the senate, approved the closure of the university with immediate effect.

"This is based on security reports to avoid the students' action being hijacked by hoodlums; and thereby prevent any form of breakdown of law and order within and outside the campuses of the university.

"Accordingly, all students are to vacate the hostels and the university premises not later than 12 noon on Wednesday 15th, September 2021."

Benjamin Egwu, President of the Student Union Government (SUG), had said that the decision to charge students N20,000 for late registration was in bad faith.

Technology Market / Iphone 13 Might Launch September 13 - Update Hubs Naija by trendrives(m): 2:32pm On Aug 26, 2021
At this point, Apple will almost certainly launch the iPhone 13 next month, 17. But while we don't know when the phone will officially go on sale, a random eCommerce listing hints the the next-gen iPhone could be unveiled on September 17.

The listing comes from a screenshot of a Chinese e-commerce app, initially spotted by IT Home (via MacRumors.) The image suggests that all four iPhone 13 models will go on sale on Sept. 17, while the AirPods 3 will launch on Sept. 30. There’s not much else to back up that claim, but it does dovetail with other recent rumors that claim Apple’s annual iPhone launch event will be held the third week of September.

Apple is (in)famous for having gadget launches down to a science, but the pandemic and global chip shortage have thrown a wrench into the usual routine. While the company generally hosts its annual iPhone event in September, last year it pushed the launch to October. Apple also held two other events, announcing the Apple Watch Series 6 in September and M1 MacBooks in November. All the signs this year point to the iPhone once again arriving in September, but it does seem like we’re due for multiple events this fall as well. In particular, we might see the new M1X 14-inch and 16-inch MacBooks, along with a high-end Mac Mini, in November.

If we go by previous years, it seems likely that Apple could hold its iPhone event on Sept. 7, Sept. 14, or Sept. 21. If Sept. 17 is, in fact, the sale date, Sept. 7 may be a contender for the launch event itself. It falls in line with CNET’s “Labor Day Theory.” While it’s somewhat convoluted, the theory goes that if Labor Day falls on Sept. 1-3, the iPhone event occurs the following week and if it falls on Sept. 5 or later, Apple announces the iPhone the following Wednesday. And while it’s possible Sept. 21 is in the cards, Apple has yet to hold an iPhone event after Sept. 15 (not including last year’s October surprise).

Armed assailants have just attacked a permanent site of the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) in Kaduna state, killing two policemen and kidnapping one.

A security source tells Pulse that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

On arrival, they began shooting sporadically and in the process, killed two officers (a Major and a Squadron Leader).

They then took another Major away through the nearby bush.

Celebrities / UPDATE HUBS: Evicted Lucy Reveals Why She Was Not In Any Relationship. by trendrives(m): 12:32am On Sep 13, 2020
On Sunday, September 6, Lucy became the tenth housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother Naija Lockdown house.

Following her exit from the house, Lucy was welcomed by members of the media, to spill the tea, describe her experience in the house, and share her next move with her fans, courtesy Betway, headline sponsor of BBNaija Lockdown.

When asked about relationships in the house, she was hesitant to share her opinions, because according to her, she doesn’t “know what is on people’s mind”, and can only speak to what she sees. Halfway into the competition, Lucy and Praise became close. However, their relationship could not blossom, as Praise was evicted from the house, just a week into their deepened friendship. She however admits that she wasn’t keen on a relationship in the house, because she wouldn’t know “what is real, until we get out of the house, so as not to be used as a part of someone’s strategy.”

Lucy was asked about her many claims while in the house of not wanting to be in contact with any of the housemates once the competition is over. She confessed that those things were said, “in the heat of the moment”. She admitted to being hot tempered and saying things she didn’t mean a lot of times, but that she definitely looks forward to seeing her fellow housemates again.

She admits to the house being tough, because, “you don’t know what you’re doing, that’s right or wrong, and there’s no one to correct you”. Also living in a place that had so many rules took its toll on everyone. She says, “I need a holiday,” when asked about how she feels about leaving the house.

She also confessed to not being surprised by her eviction, saying “ “I was not surprised about my eviction. Some people saw me as a threat.” She’s however, rooting for Tricky Tee, who she describes as a “lucky guy”.
