Uber has found itself in the middle of a messy and potentially very expensive divorce.

A French businessman is suing the company for €45m (£38.3m) after a bug in its app allegedly allowed the man’s wife to track his extramarital liaisons.

According to French newspaper Le Figaro, the man claims the app sent notifications detailing his pick up points, destinations and times to his wife’s phone. The man claims he had logged into his Uber account on his wife’s device once but had subsequently logged out so the notifications should have stopped.

The information made his wife suspect he was having an affair and ultimately led to the breakup of their marriage, the man claims.

It is unclear what caused the malfunction but Le Figaro suggests it is an issue with iPhones running iOS versions older than December 2015. Philanderous Android users, or iPhone users running up-to-date software appear to be safe from detection using this method. It is unclear how many Uber’s 40 million monthly active customers might be affected.

A spokesperson for Uber has declined to comment on the issue, telling Le Figaro that, “Uber doesn’t publicly comment on individual cases, and especially those which concern things such as a divorce procedure.”

It is not the first time Uber has been troubled by accusations that its software can be used for spying.

In January 2016, an emaciated little boy was found roaming the streets of southern Nigeria. The orphan — naked, riddled with worms and close to death — had been abandoned by his family, who believed he was a witch, and had been living on food scraps for eight months. His rescuer, aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven, shared a heartbreaking photo on Facebook of the 10-pound 2-year-old sipping from a bottle of water, and the post quickly went viral, garnering thousands of likes and comments.

“I have chosen to call the boy Hope for right now,” Loven wrote on her charity’s Facebook page in February 2016. “We all hope that he survives.”

Just one year later, Hope is thriving: On Tuesday, January 31, the happy, healthy toddler embarked on his first day of school. And to celebrate the milestone, Loven re-created the iconic image of her, encouraging him to drink from a bottle of water. The difference between the two pictures, taken 13 months apart, is remarkable.

“This picture makes me cry of happiness!” wrote one person, while another raved: “Look at him!! He is so cute! I love his little book bag!”

Hope lives with 35 others in an orphanage run by Loven and her husband, David Emmanuel Umem. “All the other children are so protective of him, especially the older ones,” Umem told Us Weekly in April 2016. “Initially Hope was aggressive with everyone, but we have gained his trust. Now he is so happy.” His favorite activities? Building little houses with soil and drawing pictures!

It was gathered that he arrived Abuja on Saturday morning and is on his way to his hometown, Oghara in Delta State.

James Ibori had, on Friday, appeared before a Southwark Crown court in London for his asset forfeiture hearing.

He regained his freedom in December 2016 after spending four-and-a-half years in a United Kingdom prison for money laundering.

A bishop is recovering after being punched in the face while celebrating Mass over the weekend, reports CBS New York. About 100 parishioners were inside Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newark on Saturday afternoon for a Mass celebrating baseball player Roberto Clemente when man in a white suit approached Bishop Manuel Cruz. Video shows a security guard rushing to the man just before he leans forward and swings at Cruz, hitting Cruz in the mouth and knocking him off his feet. The Indonesian president, Joko Widodo, signed a decree on Wednesday authorizing chemical castration for convicted child sex offenders and requiring those released on parole to wear electronic monitoring devices.

The new punishment comes in response to the brutal gang rape and murder in April of a 14-year-old girl on her way home on the island of Sumatra. Seven teenage boys were each sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime, which prompted national outrage and revived previous calls for chemical castration as a punishment against child sex offenders.

Mr. Joko told a news conference at the presidential palace in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital, that he had signed a decree amending the country’s 2002 law on child protection to enable judges to hand down the punishment at their discretion.

“The inclusion of such an amendment will provide space for the judge to decide severe punishments as a deterrent effect on perpetrators,” Mr. Joko said.

“These crimes have undermined the development of children, and these crimes have disturbed our sense of peace, security and public order,” he said. “So, we will handle it in an extraordinary way.”

London (AFP) - The Israeli embassy in London sought Sunday to head off a diplomatic storm with London.
The Mail on Sunday newspaper posted the footage showing the embassy's senior political officer Shai Masot telling an undercover reporter from Al-Jazeera television: "I want to take down... the Deputy Foreign Minister (Alan Duncan)."

Duncan, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson's second-in-command, and a long-time critic of Israel, was "doing a lot of problems," he added.

Duncan once described Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory as a "stain on the face of the globe", calling them an "act of theft".

"Occupation, annexation, illegality, negligence, complicity - this is a wicked cocktail which brings shame on Israel," he told the BBC in 2014.

Masot also called Johnson an "idiot" and mocked "crazy" opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and his "weirdo" supporters.
