Romance / How To Harness The Power Of Intention And Use It To Your Advantage by Trip4Jozzy(m): 8:28am On Dec 11, 2018
Most of us go about our daily life carried by the winds of circumstance. If something happens, we kick and scream out of displeasure or yell and cheer from joy, but we generally just let whatever happens guide our direction in life.
And if we ever really try to achieve something, we rarely put all of our mental energy into it.

The problem with this is you’re placing your fate in the hands of uncontrollable forces. And, sure, there are many things you will never be able to control and should learn to adapt to as they arise. However, you can take control of many aspects of your life thanks to the power of intention.

"Our intention creates our reality."

– Wayne Dyer

Intention is defined as “a thing intended; an aim or plan.” The power of intention is the power of a focused mind.

When focusing our mental energy on something, we’re able to give more of our brain power to it. It’s not magic or hocus-pocus, it’s our own innate tool (the mind) being placed into the right position to perform at its maximum efficiency.

Entire movies are based on this power, like Taken. In the action film, Liam Neeson plays a character with a particular set of impressive talents, but what makes him so powerful is that when his daughter is taken from him at the beginning of the film, he’s placed into a state of absolute focus. He wants to get his daughter back and he’ll make sure he completes his mission — no matter what. His intention is set and he wills it to happen.

Obviously, Taken is just a movie. But there’s a reason why the theme of relentlessly pursuing a goal is so popular in films (Man on Fire, starring Denzel Washington, is another example): it’s a concept we identify and are fascinated with. We know that when we make up our mind about something, it’s almost like we have a special power to make our goal happen.

Bruce Lee said that if a man went into a fight wanting to bite another man’s ear off and decided that he would do it no matter what — even at the cost of his own life — he would be very likely to succeed, much more than a fighter who simply defending himself.

Likewise, Napoleon Hill spoke of the power of intention in Think and Grow Rich, my favorite example featured in the book being the story of Edwin C. Barnes and his burning desire to work for Thomas Edison (a feat he later accomplished).

That all sounds great and everything, but how do you harness the power of intention? How exactly are all of these examples supposed to help you change your life?
Utilizing the power of the mind to influence your life

Intention isn’t a “do it once and forget about it” kind of thing. It’s a continuous, consistent use of the mind in a focused manner, and there are several ways you can both enhance this state and use it to get what you want in life.

When it comes down to it, I believe that there are three steps necessary to fully utilize the power of intention:

>>> Decide what you want: By definition, to use the power of intention, you need to know what you’re aiming for. If you don’t know this, you’ll never be able to utilize this power effectively.
>>>> Get clear on your why: Why do you want what you want? You might believe you want to travel the world, but why? What will traveling the world get you or how will it make you feel? What do you want to accomplish or do with your life and how is this goal connected with that? Getting clear on your why gives power to your intention.
>>>>> Visualize: Knowing what you want and why you want it serves as a foundation, and visualization is the future-planning version of intention-based exercises. It shows you where you’re going and helps you map out a path to get there.

Laide saw her dad standing in front of her, he was talking to Jamie. ‘When would this dream end’ she thought to herself.
Slowly she began to feel pains in certain portions of her body, she couldn’t move her head, she felt a pipe connected to her nose. Everywhere looked strange, where was she? It began to dawn on her that maybe this wasn’t a dream, atleast she hoped it won’t be, she was tired of all her weird encounters on the other side, she just wanted it to end.
“Daddy?” she said almost in a whisper. Nobody responded, they just kept talking to each other.
“Daddy!” she called again but this time a whole lot more louder than the previous.
They just kept on talking as if she wasn’t in the room, so she screamed “Daddy!!!” but not one of them flinched, so just busted into tears, with sobs.
“She’s awake!” said her dad, as he rushed to her bedside.
Jamie stood for awhile not believing his eyes, until he heard Laide’s father almost scream “get the doctor”
He took off running as he kept calling “doctor!”…....

After what appeared to be ages, the doctor entered the room with Jamie following closely behind.

The doctor came out to meet Jamie and Laide's dad outside.
It was visible that he was struggling with the news he was about to share.
"The impact of the crash seems to have impacted on her brain and the portion of the brain responsible for speech has a swelling. We couldn't tell this before because she was in coma."
"So what exactly are you saying doctor?" Inquired Jamie.
"She may or may never be able to speak again, I'm sorry."........

How can her bed be empty? The first thought that came to his mind was that she was dead. The picture of her lying cold and immobile almost rendered him immobile. He tried to keep calm but his heart rate would just not subside.
He tried to tell himself that she was awake and had been transferred, this thought made no sense to him but he opted to believe it. Why wasn’t he contacted if she was awake, even if she had passed to the great beyond, he had exclusive right to know, being her legal guardian. All these thoughts and more flashed through his mind in a split second.
He turned and ran towards the door of the elevator, his heart was racing faster than his feet. He got to the door, punched it to open but it kept making that ‘ding’ sound as it went from floor to floor. The stairs was on the other end of the floor, as he darted across the floor, he wondered which inconsiderate architect designed the building, for God’s sake this is Nigeria; what if the there was power failure or the lift was faulty, sick patients would have to be dragged half way across the world just to get to the stairs.
He arrived at the stairs finally, half way down the sixth floor, his brain flashed an image he saw in one of the rooms on the floor he just left. “No! it cant be” he heard himself mutter to himself.
“its impossible” he added with a shake of his head. He stopped to assess the image playing on his mind. He must be dreaming, or this is some fat joke that ain’t funny. He turned and walked back the stairs, praying silently that the image he saw would be his mind playing tricks on him. He found his legs wobbly as if in a dance, yet there was no rhythm to the movement, they were dancing to the tune of fear. Fear of what lies on the floor he just climbed onto.
He stood by the door, part of him hoped he was wrong but deep inside he knew he couldn’t have conjured that image. He mustered strength and walked into the room.
There he was; the man he saw, actually standing there in the flesh. Someone he believed was dead, someone who’s burial he attended. He was actually standing there, this must be a dream.
The man turned to look at him, he had aged a bit due to the years that had trickled by. All his hair were grey, his face a bit wrinkly.
“Hello James” the man said. His voice croaky, from years on little use maybe, he was old but he seemed well cared for.
“how?” was all Jamie could utter.
The man just smilled, turned to look at Laide on the bed and said “It’s a long story”
“Do you know what your absence did to her? The thought that you had actually died almost killed her” said Jamie.
“I know…”
“No you don’t know!! Don’t you dare say you know, you weren’t here!” Jamie tried to keep cool but he was loosing it. He wondered where people get the guts to the things they do, especially the evils they do.
