Paying host to Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs, Mohammed Shariatmadari, President Buhari who signed off on the treaty between Iran and six other world powers on its nuclear programme stated that it was a right step taken by Iran to achieve global peace especially in the middle east. Meanwhile, the Iranian Vice President has extended an invitation to the president to attend an upcoming Summit of Gas Exporting Countries in Tehran. While acknowledging the invitation, President Buhari stated that the meeting was in the interest of developing countries to maximize the use of their natural resources for the improvement of the living conditions of their people. A statement from presidetial spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina stated that the visiting Shariatmadari congratulated President Buhari on his election and assured him of Iran’s support in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. “The government of President Hassan Rouhani of Iran advocates moderation and departure from any form of extremism,’’ he said. KANO – Fresh from a week long incarceration, former Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido Wednesday declared that he bore no grudge against anyone over his prison experience. Lamido who made a triumphant entry into Kano on a chattered aircraft 5N—LDM was welcomeD by thousand of supporters who scaled the perimeter fence of VIP section of Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. The self style Talakawa apostle whose chattered flight touched ground by 1.26pm in company of his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, relatives and retinue of aides walked to chaotic reception by supporters that reduced the security area to a carnival. Chant of ‘Sai Lamido’ Sai Lamido, Sai PDP’ charged the serene atmosphere for half an hour before the 69 years old Jigawa born politician sneaked into a waiting SUV on a journey to his NNDC palatial residence in company of over 2,000 cars. Briefing Reporters in his home, Lamido said that he was a veteran of incarnation, pointing out that there was nothing new in it. “I’m not new to detention facility, it’s all part of struggle for life. If the purpose is to humiliate, deconstruct me and my family, well that is hazard of occupying a high office”. The two term former Governor while admitting that human institutions are not perfect, however stated that his prison experience exposed his other side. Sule Lamido said that “it is difficult to share my prison with anyone because it’s not like hunger or something tangible. You have to be in there to feel what I went through with my children”. Lamido stressed that ” yes, people hate me because of I am outspoken, I want to make it clear that Nigeria remain my country, there is no way I can runaway to other country and even at that where do I go?” The former Governor expressed his gratitude to the judiciary to have recognised his personality as he stressed that the gesture has restored confidence in the polity. He however declared his readiness to clear his of financial impropriety during the trial proper, adding that he wad confident to walk out of it unscathed. Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has ordered Delta State police to immediately set free his hit man and former Oshimili North local council transition committee chairman, Innocent Esewezie, who allegedly murdered one Emeka Onianwa during the April 11, 2015 governorship and House of Assembly elections The gruesome murder of Mr. Onianwa by Governor Okowa's hit man was carried out at the country home of Fred Ajudua at Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area (LGA). Mr. Ajudua and his wife were said to have supervised the gruesome killing. The late Mr. Onianwa finally died on April 13 at University of Benin Teaching Hospital where he was referred to for treatment from Federal Medical Centre, Asaba. SaharaReporters reliably learned that a Delta State court on Wednesday last week granted Mrs. Pat Ajudua an injunction restraining the police from arresting her, her husband, and eleven others who are accused in the murder of Mr. Onianwa. The charges against Mr. Esewezie say he and his cohorts assaulted Mr. Onianwa with cutlasses and other objects. Police officers from the homicide department section in Abuja arrested the suspect on June 31 and arraigned him at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ibusa. Mr. Esewezie was remanded to prison until July 29, but surprisingly, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa allegedly ordered the police to immediately set him free against the court orders. Addressing a press conference Wednesday, the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Maria Onianwa, accused Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of ordering Delta State police to set free the murderer of her husband against the wishes of the court.
