PoliticsElections 2015: "It Is My Turn To Chop" - PDP Candidate by truthispainful(op): 9:23pm On Mar 07, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ebonyi state, Engineer David Umahi, has raised eyebrows with a recent comment he made concerning his aspiration to lead the South East state.

Umahi, who is the current deputy governor of Ebonyi state, was addressing newsmen in the state capital, Abakaliki, when he told newsmen that his determination to succeed his boss was because it was his “turn to chop”

He said, “Anybody that is saying I should have surrendered is just making a prayer for himself because how would I have suffered for the party, how would I have invested, and you say I no go chop? E no good. They say na where somebody dey work, na there e dey chop; that’s why they call it workshop,” said the deputy governor.

According to Ekekee.com, the comment drew a noisy reaction from the audience made up of mainly PDP supporters and journalists.

Umahi is having a running battle with his boss, Governor Martin Elechi, over his emergence as the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state.

It will be recalled that Governor Elechi’s candidate for the party’s primary election was the former minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu. After Umahi emerged as the PDP candidate for the elections, Elechi moved to the Labour Party (LP) but surprisingly gave the party’s ticket to another politician, Edward Nkwegu.

Umahi questioned if Elechi really and sincerely wanted to hand power over to Prof Chukwu or actually wanted power to shift to Ebonyi South, insisting that the governor should have at least given the governorship ticket of the Labour Party, which he accused him of secretly supporting, to Chukwu rather than to Edward Nkwegu.

“The question I’m asking is did he really want to hand over power to the South? Otherwise, why didn’t he give the governorship ticket of Labour Party to Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, and then my brother and myself would have gone into negotiation?” he asked rhetorically.

Just about a week ago, Governor Elechi was served an impeachment notice by Ebonyi State House of Assembly over what the lawmakers described as acts of gross misconduct by the Governor.

PoliticsAPC Call Jonathan Chibok Girls Statement Morbid READ MORE by truthispainful(op): 9:05pm On Mar 07, 2015
The All Progressives Congress has released a statement describing as callous, morbid and insensitive the comments made by President Goodluck Jonathan that the Chibok girls are still alive because Boko Haram would have displayed their bodies if they had been killed.

The statement signed in Lagos on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said it found the comment “deeply offensive to human sensibilities” rather than providing hope and succour for the traumatised parents of the girls, the Punch reports.

It said a key role of Presidents everywhere in times of tribulations and tragedies was to offer hope and be the Consoler-in-Chief, not to make statements that would deepen the suffering and sorrow of victims.

APC said one would have expected a President to speak on the basis of actionable intelligence, not some “twisted, melancholic and offensive logic.”

The party said the statement played on the fears of the parents of the girls and indeed of all Nigerians concerning the fate of the girls, who had been held in captivity for over 300 days, “with an impotent government” unable to rescue them.

It said all that the parents of the girls as well as all concerned people around the world had wanted to know was what the Jonathan Administration was doing to bring the girls home safely and as soon as possible, “not a depressing statement about their bodies being displayed via a video by Shekau if they had been killed.”

The opposition party asked Jonathan to borrow a leaf from his Chadian counterpart, who came across as being very “presidential” in his comments on Shekau, when he said, ”It is in Abubakar Shekau’s interest to surrender, we know where he is. If he refuses to give himself up, he will suffer the same fate as his comrades.”

It said the Chadian President’s statement also contradicted the earlier claim by the Nigerian authorities that Shekau had been killed at least twice, the last of which was backed up with a ‘pictorial evidence’.

APC added, ”The Shekau that President Deby was referring to is the same Shekau that the Jonathan-led administration claimed to have killed at least twice, and the same Shekau the same administration is now seeking to capture alive.

”Mr. President (Jonathan), how many Shekaus do you want to kill or capture? Or is there a Shekau that is known only to your administration?”

Meanwhile, The coordinating minister for the economy and minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday, visited Chibok on behalf of Jonathan and did something special for the community residents there.

PoliticsIgbo Group Mobilises Against PDP In Lagos by truthispainful(op): 11:23am On Mar 05, 2015
A pan-Igbo group based in Lagos, Association for the Defence of Igbo Interests, has urged all Igbo across the state not to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP had said it was banking on the votes of the Igbo and non-indigenes in order to win the governorship election in Lagos State.

Similarly, the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, had on Tuesday, visited the Ladipo auto spare part market, Ladipo, where he described the All Progressives Congress-led state government as being anti-Igbo. Ladipo market has a large population of Igbo traders.

However, the Igbo group, led by its Coordinator, Prof. Chris Nwokobia; and its Secretary, Dr. Harris Chuma, said it would be wrong of the Igbo to be used as a tool by the PDP to take over Lagos.

Nwokobia recalled that the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has said voting for PDP in Lagos is against the wishes of the Yoruba and the gods.

Nwokobia, who addressed hundreds of Igbo people and journalists in Lagos on Wednesday, said the APC had not marginalised the Igbo in anyway.

He said, “It is better for the Ndigbo in Lagos to work with those they know than to plan a deal with total strangers. The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, has told all Lagosians that the PPD should not be voted for in Lagos.

“The Igbo in Lagos should listen to him as a mark of respect. The PDP has devastated Yoruba land since 1999 from Ogun to Oyo, from Ondo to Ekiti and to Osun. The PDP has devastated Nigeria in the past 16 years and made the country a laughing stock in the comity of nations.

“The Yoruba see the PDP as a virus. That is why they formed an alliance with the North to stop the PDP.

“If the Igbo make the mistake of investing in a dying horse by voting the PDP at a time other Nigerians are rejecting it for its 16 wasteful years in power, it will neither affect the electoral choice of Lagosians nor make any positive difference for Igbo.

“It will rather worsen their woes in Nigeria especially in Lagos where they coexist and compete favourably with other Nigerians. Igbo be warned!”

Nwokobia said the state government had done more for Igbos than some state governors in the South-East.

He said one of the most sensitive positions in Fashola’s cabinet was being held by an Igbo while there are over 500 Igbos in the state civil service.

PoliticsCourt Orders INEC To Register Young Democratic Party by truthispainful(op): 3:35pm On Mar 04, 2015
With the 2015 elections just around the corner, A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include the Young Democratic Party (YDP) in lists of its duly registered political parties.

By implication, INEC would have to reprint new ballot papers for the elections which is just three weeks away.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed made the order in his judgment on the suit filed by the party, challenging its denial of registration by INEC.

Justice Mohammed said that The Young Democratic Party (YDP) was believed registered when INEC failed to inform the then political association‎ of its decision not to register it as a political party within 30 days of receiving its application, as required under Section 78 (4) of the Electoral Act, 2010‎.

INEC was said to have received the association’s application on April 1, 2014 but only notified the applicant of its decision not to register it on September 15, 2014.

Also, with this new development, uncertainty now looms over possible conduct of the rescheduled elections on March 28 and April, respectively, as INEC is now expected to reproduce ballot papers to bear YDP and its logo.

The alarming question now is: Will INEC be able to honour this judgement with the rescheduled elections barely three weeks away?

It would be recalled that The Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman,Professor Attahiru Jega last year said; Nigeria has only 25 registered political parties. Hence, the inclusion of The Young Democratic Party (YDP) takes the total number of registered political parties in the country to 26.

Meanwhile, another report has it that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) plan to conduct a ‘mock’ election to publicly test run its Smart Card Reader (SCR) machines.

PoliticsExposed! Just In; Pdp Candidate, 36 Others, Arrested For Murder. by truthispainful(op): 3:48pm On Mar 03, 2015
News just reaching us indicates that a House of Assembly candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Mr. Chidi Ejem, has been arrested by the police over a murder case.

Mr. Ejem, (aged 38) was arrested alongside 36 other persons over the killing of a 36- year- old man, Udu Emegha over the weekend.

Confirming this to press men in Abakiliki, capital of Ebonyi, the state’s police spokesman, Chris Anyanwu, said Emegha was killed during an attack on Labour Party supporters in the state.

He said: ‘’A group of hoodlums numbering up to 23 were led by one Emmanuel Innocent from Amaigbo Etiti Edda, and they besieged the house of the deceased and attacked him, beating him to comma.

“Udu Emegha gave up the ghost, later the team of police operatives rounded up investigations with the death of Mr. Emegha pointing to the direction of one Mr. Chidi Ejem. Chidi is a candidate of House of Assembly and a 38-year- old man.

‘’The exhibits recovered include three cutlasses with blood stain, a single barrel gun and some expanded cartridges

‘’The state CID has just commenced investigation into the matter and the cause of this murder will be unraveled. We have in our net Chidi Ejem, Emmanuel Innocent and 35 others. So far we have arrested 37 suspects in connection with the murder, “Anyanwu disclosed.

Meanwhile, in almost a similar vein, it would be recalled that a Chairman of Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo State, Soji Ojo-Awo was arrested by Security operatives in connection with the pulling down of the billboard of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Teslim Folarin, which was erected in front of the local government secretariat.

PoliticsEXPOSED!!! Jonathan Bribed South-west Leaders, Others With $250k. by truthispainful(op): 2:51pm On Mar 03, 2015
Omoyele Sowore, the Publisher of Nigeria’s online tabloid, Sahara Reporters took to his twitter handle accusing Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan of spending over $200 million bribing traditional rulers, religious groups, ethnic clubs, youths and cooperation’s within the last week.
Jonathan Bribed South-West Leaders, Others With $250k.

In his tweet, he writes; Pres. Jonathan has spent over $200 million bribing traditional rulers, religious groups, ethnic clubs, youths & co-ops in the last 3 weeks

Jonathan spent the last week meeting youth groups, traditional rulers, market women and other interest groups in Lagos.

Although, Naij.com cannot independently verify Sowore’s claims, the US-based media praactioner and his medium – Sahara Reporters have always been at the forefront of exposing many secret actions of serving government officials.

It will be recalled that contrary to claims that President Goodluck Jonathan had disbursed N3 million to each state chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, across the country to canvass for his re-election, Edo State chairman of CAN, Bishop Peter Imasuen, has denied sharing in the largesse.

PoliticsWill Jega Be Sacked Or Not? Check Out President Jonathan's New Verdict. by truthispainful(op): 12:39pm On Mar 03, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan has spoken up about the plot to remove the Chairman of The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.

Speaking on Monday, March, in an interview with Aljazeera, President Jonathan reassured Nigerians and the international community that he has no plan to sack Professor Attahiru Jega, ahead of Nigeria’s general elections slated for March 28 and April 11.

The president reassurance comes just after speculation were raised by the opposition party, The All Progressives Congress that the Federal Government, through the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, is plotting to send Mr. Jega on terminal leave before the elections.

Prof. Jega’s tenure ends in June but there are claims from the opposition party that the President’s administration plans to send him on a three-month pre-disengagement leave before the election.

The president dispelled the allegation saying INEC is a sensitive and important institution and that removing its chairman arbitrarily would spark public outcry.

“Except somebody is insinuating that the Chairman has done something wrong. You cannot change an officer, except the person has done something wrong,” Mr. Jonathan said in response to a question on Mr. Jega.

He continued, “Government, whether at the federal or state level, president or governor, does not wake up and change somebody, especially somebody like the INEC Chairman, except that person has done something wrong.

“INEC is a very sensitive body. For me to change INEC Chairman Nigerians will ask questions. So, you cannot wake up and change INEC Chairman'

He added that he had never discussed with “any human being on earth about changing INEC Chairman”‎.

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that reports from last week had it that the federal government have shortlisted four possible candidates to replace the INEC boss.

PoliticsI Will Go Through The Front Door If I Want To Be President —tinubu by truthispainful(op): 12:19pm On Mar 03, 2015
Says PDP, Fani-Kayode on the loose

NATIONAL leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, on Monday, lashed at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign spokesperson, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, for alleging he planned to be president through the back door.

He denied planning to become president through the back door, saying that if he wanted the presidency, he would go through the front door.

In a statement by his media aide, Sunday Dare, the former Lagos State governor said both Fani-Kayode and his paymasters were on the loose.

According to him, “Tinubu is not scheming to become president through the back door. He, just like any qualified Nigerian, has the right to walk in through the front door if he so desires.”

He was also confident that his party would dust the ruling party in the forthcoming general election, adding that the vice presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, remained the party’s choice.

“The PDP campaign continues its descent. This is to be expected. Because the truth stings them harshly, they have become a factory of lies. A few days ago, the agent of character assassination, who doubles as the busy hatchet man of the PDP, accused Bola Tinubu of plotting to be vice president, then president through subterfuge.

“Clearly, he has exposed the confusion and contradiction within his party and has veered off from the real debate. But he cannot avoid the storm of change already unleashed by the APC.

“However, the only subterfuge involved in this entire episode is that eating at Fani-kayode’s mind. His mind is an agent of mayhem and a foreigner to facts. The last time we looked, the APC ticket was a Buhari/Osinbajo one. That is what is and that is what shall stand...

“Fani-Kayode is on a futile journey to shield the populace from seeing the failures of his paymasters. His statement, taken in context, indicates that his paymasters will lose the election. They are now worried about what will happen thereafter.

“The majority of Nigerians have concluded that they have done enough damage to our politics, economy and security; and cannot be tolerated any longer. Rather, they should be voted out by the people. Their journey of lies and deception is at its terminal point.

“The party lied to Nigerians and the international community that elections had to be shifted first because of the PVC issue and later it became a security ambush to change the date, thus aborting Nigeria’s date with destiny at the polls.

“That Fani-Kayode is the best a ruling party can do as a spokesman speaks volumes about the PDP. They are bereft of talent and character. They are filled with lies and chicanery. FFK is simply the worst and most outspoken of a bad lot. However, we welcome his interventions. They are of such low quality and base character. His utterances frighten people, but not in the way FFK intended.

“Instead of scaring the people away from the APC, his work scares people that someone so unfit is so close to the seat of power... Most Nigerians are fed up with this government and desire change. They await eagerly that opportunity at the polls. They cannot tolerate four more years of a Fani-Kayode or his paymasters and his utterances.

“Unable to make headway against Buhari and Osinbajo, he now wants to run against Tinubu. This plot will not work.

“Yemi Osinbajo is fiercely independent. A brilliant mind of great character and a consummate reformer and legal crusader. The APC ticket is of people of great resolve... APC is a party with people of impeccable character, courageous and patriotic leaders who are out to rescue our nation.

“If FFK cannot recognise that Tinubu is a talent seeker, man of vision, one who creates opportunities for the best minds to thrive and serve the public, then he deserves our pity. Tinubu’s hand is etched large in the brand of good governance pervading the South-West and other parts of Nigeria.

“He is a hunter for talents as exemplified in Babatunde Fashola of Lagos, who has redefined governance; talented and hardworking Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; indefatigable Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State; eclectic Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo; relentless Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and, until recently, Kayode Fayemi, who served Ekiti well. Yemi Osinbajo belongs to this tribe of excellent public servants.

“The APC still parades other governors who continue to excel across the country. The likes of Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano, the tireless Governor Wamakko of Sokoto and other governors in Borno, Rivers, Yobe, Kwara – all of them – committed to bringing change to their people.

“Tinubu helped build the great platform for change, wholeheartedly worked and supported the APC ticket, because he believes it is the last best hope to rescue Nigeria from the disaster of FFK and his ilk waiting to continue to rule us if allowed.

“I pray Nigerians will not allow them to misgovern us a day past May 29. If FFK pretends not to know of Tinubu’s efforts to build and support the APC, it comes as no surprise. Fani-Kayode tried before to be part of the party, but left when he found out there was no room for his games. Because APC could not help to free him from EFCC and aviation fraud, he ran back to the party that blocked the EFCC on his behalf.

“I will not dignify FFK’s outrageous lies with any reply. All I know is that Nigerians know that he is a peddler of falsehood and millions of Nigerians are with APC and its leaders.

“The fiction of a thousand Fani Kayodes cannot stop an idea whose time has come. The APC is committed to upholding and respecting the tenets of democracy and of bringing a new government that will usher in a new day for a new Nigeria. And that is what Fani-Kayode and his party cannot handle. Please pack up. It is time to go,” the statement read.

PoliticsWhy Jonathan, PDP Are Angry With Jega – Investigation by truthispainful(op): 11:38am On Mar 03, 2015
There were revelations in Abuja on Monday on why President Goodluck Jonathan and the national leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party were angry with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

A week-long investigation by our correspondent in Abuja showed that the President and his party are not happy with Jega over his insistence that the commission would use the Permanent Voter Cards for the election.

The PVCs were used for the conduct of the governorship elections in both Ekiti and Osun states, which were won by the PDP and the All Progressives Congress respectively.

Apart from this, the President and the party were also angry that the commission was going ahead with its decision to use card readers.

This technology was however not used in both Ekiti and Osun states elections.

The commission has said that the card reader can only read PVC issued by it and that any person that shows up at the polling unit without a PVC or with a card not issued by INEC will not be able to vote.

It was learnt that the Presidency and the ruling party were not totally against the use of the PVCs, but they were not happy with the use of card readers.

A worker in the Presidency who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday queried the insistence of INEC under the leadership of Jega to go ahead with the two items.

He said, “Now, what we are saying is that yes, the PVCs were used in both Ekiti and Osun governorship elections but the way and manner the PVCs are being distributed now is suspicious.

“Look at the figure of those who have collected from the northern part of the country and look at the figure from the southern part, where President Jonathan hails from.

“If the election is going to be by ethnic sentiment alone, you will know that our President has been defeated already. So, that’s the reason.

“Look at Ogun and Lagos states, which we all know are politically sophisticated. Why are the electorates not picking their PVCs? We are worried.”

In terms of PVCs collection, figures released by the commission indicated that Ogun State is lagging behind among all the states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.

In the state, only 808,590 out of the 1,829,534 registered voters had collected their PVCs. This figure represents a mere 44.20 per cent.

But the commission said that 1,387,401 PVCs had been delivered to the state.

Lagos State with 5,822,207 registered voters had recorded 63.44 per cent of the PVCs collection. This shows that 3,693,355 of the cards had been picked by their owners.

But the commission said that 5,558,062 cards had been delivered for voters in the state.

This means that there are 1,864,707 PVCs yet to be picked by their owners in the state.

When asked whether the refusal of the owners of the PVCs to pick them up could be attributed to Jega, the source said that the commission should embark on more enlightenment.

On the issue of card readers, a member of the National Working Committee of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that there was no way the machine would be effective in the area of accreditation of voters.

When this issue was raised before the commission, an explanatory note presented to our correspondent showed that accreditation of a voter using the card reader is expected to last for about 20 seconds.

Politics20 Bayelsa Women Burnt To Death After Visiting Patience Jonathan by truthispainful(op): 3:30pm On Mar 02, 2015
No fewer than 20 women from Bayelsa State were on Saturday burnt to death in multiple auto-accidents after they visited the first lady Dame Patience Jonathan.

According to reports, the accident occurred at Ahoada, in Rivers State and involved a Toyota Sienna car, a jeep and a bus with an inscription of Peoples Democratic Party Women Initiative.

According to a security source, all the occupants of the bus perished except for a woman who managed to escape.

The source said, “The affected women were travelling in the bus which went up in flames. They were burnt to ashes. Only one of the women was rescued.”

The women were said to have paid a two-day a solidarity visit to the first lady in Okirika.

The Bayelsa State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Mr. Vincent Jack also confirmed the accident.

He, however, said only nine persons were burnt to death, two died without been burnt while many others who sustained injuries were rushed to Madonna clinic in the area.

According to him, the accident occurred when the tyre of the Toyota Sienna burst and rammed into the bus carrying the women, the jeep then also rammed into the bus in confusion, a situation which led to the bus going up in flames.
PoliticsJega Blast Fayose, Accuses Him Of Breaking Several Decorum Rules Of Nigeria. by truthispainful(op): 2:36pm On Mar 02, 2015
Editor’s note: Daily Trust’s Mahmud Jega questions the rationale behind the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose’s, vituperation against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

– The people of Ekiti state and Western Nigeria generally cannot possibly say that a septuagenarian is too old to be president.

– Fayose is Nigeria’s most reckless civilian governor

– Fayose has assumed the role of PDP’s Premier Attack Dog

When was the last time that any Nigerian state had a civilian governor as reckless as Peter Ayodele Fayose?

Between January and now Fayose has broken several decorum rules of Nigerian politics and it is time to give him a short lesson in History. Many ardent Buhari supporters have long written me off as a PDP mole so I am in a position to play the referee here.

In his self-appointed role as Premier Attack Dog Fayose has made many allegations against APC and its presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari. I will condense the six most sensational to be

1] at 73 Buhari is too old to be the President of Nigeria

2] Buhari is in poor health

3] Buhari is likely to die in office if he is elected president

4] Presidents of Nigeria from the North West zone tend to die in office such as Murtala Mohamed, Sani Abacha and Umaru Yarádua

5] Buhari’s recent trip to London was a secret medical trip and

6] North should wait until 2019 to produce a president.

There were many other smaller allegations but let us concentrate on the main ones that have political and historical import. Each of these six condensed charges that Fayose made is problematic when viewed in the context of Nigeria’s political history.

Let’s consider the first charge that at 72 Buhari is too old to be president of Nigeria. This is not the first time that this kind of allegation is being made in Nigerian politics. At the time elections were held to usher in the Second Republic in mid-1979 three of the five presidential candidates were advanced in age. PRP’s Malam Aminu Kano was 59, UPN’s Chief Obafemi Awolowo was 70 and NPP’s Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was 74. The man who eventually won the election, NPN’s Alhaji Shehu Shagari was 54 but it is doubtful if he won because of his age. Only one third of Nigerian voters voted for him in that election. I do not know where Ayo Fayose was in 1979 but if he voted at all, he was likely to have voted for Chief Awolowo because the UPN candidate secured more than 90% of the votes in the old Ondo State, which includes present day Ekiti State. When Awo stood again in 1983 he was already 74 years old, yet he secured a reduced but overwhelming majority in the old Ondo State. Hence, the people of Ekiti State and Western Nigeria generally cannot possibly say that a septuagenarian is too old to be president. Not surprisingly Fayose seems to be the only Yoruba man who is saying so.

I suspect the Igbos will remain silent on this issue as well because when Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe contested for president in 1979 he was 74 years old. I remember that during a presidential media interview on NTA the interviewer asked Zik whether he was not too old for the presidency. Zik reminded the interviewer that the live television interview had already been on for an hour, “I have no idea what questions you are going to ask” and yet, he was extremely alert and coherent in his answers. Despite his age Zik swept most votes in the East and did so again in 1983 when he was 78 years old.

In fact, there was this famous letter that Zik wrote in late 1978 addressed to all the people who said that he was too old to be president. He had a special line for leader of the unregistered Nigeria Advance Party [NAP] Mr Tunji Braithwaite. Zik recalled that in 1937 when they formed the Nigeria Youth Movement, he was a very young man but NYM’s leader was the elderly Reverend Braithwaite, Tunji’s uncle. If they had asked him to step aside on account of his age, Zik said the old Braithwaite would have quoted the biblical verse that said, “O ye generation of vipers…!”

Secondly, Fayose charged that Buhari is in poor health on account of his age. Now, now. I think it is true that younger people are generally speaking healthier and more vigorous than older people but that is only at the level of generalities. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who is older than Buhari, maintains a schedule of local and international travel that I cannot do a fraction of. These days after every trip from Kaduna to Abuja I must lie down and rest but I attended a State House dinner in 2005 where Obasanjo appeared at the dinner only 30 minutes after he arrived from Japan. So, we cannot assume that an older man in sick unless he shows signs of it, which so far Buhari has not shown. He went through the punishing schedule of holding campaign rallies in two different states a day for three weeks. Right now, I don’t think I can shop in Utako and Wuse markets on the same day.

Fayose’s charge number three was that Buhari is likely to die in office if he is elected. We generally assume that anyone who is older in age is more likely to die than a younger person. Again that is true only at the general level. Many children have died and left their parents. I recently saw an advert placed by a woman mourning the death of her grandson.

READ ALSO: Read How The Election Postponement Affected Nigeria’s Economy

Now, if it is because several Nigerian rulers of North West origin died in office which is Fayose’s charge number four, former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari marked his 90th birthday only last week. So, only God can say if Buhari will be like Yarádua or like Shagari. Besides, leaders from other parts of Nigeria have also died in office including Major General J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi, Chief Akintola and Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi. So in any matter that God has the say, we should better leave it to Him.

Fayose’s charge number five was that Buhari went to London last week essentially for medical reasons but pretended that it was a working visit. On this count I fault APC leaders and the spokesmen. Look, I have read tracts where doctors said a man who is over 50 should go for a medical check at least once a year. Whatever it was that Buhari went to do in London, I would regard it as carelessness if he did not seize the chance to seek a medical check as most Nigerian elite do. How can anybody tour 36 states in one month and not ask a doctor to check him up? The problem here was that APC never said Buhari visited a hospital, thus allowing Fayose to score a cheap point.

Fayose also said [charge number six] that the North should wait until 2019 to produce a president. There are problems with this charge too. Buhari belongs to APC and as far as I know, the party has not publicly adopted a rotational policy for the presidency. The party that did so publicly was Fayose’s PDP and it went ahead and observed it in the breach. In this election cycle no one is talking about Northern or Southern presidential candidate, at least not publicly which I think is an indication that Nigerian politics is maturing.

The question many people are asking is why has Governor Ayo Fayose cast himself in this controversial role, making one incredible charge after another when 23 other PDP governors are not saying anything of the sort? Some people have said it is because an APC-controlled Federal Government could reverse his election victory of last May. Well, it can’t because his election was upheld by both the election tribunal and the election appeal tribunal. Even the Capt Sagir Koli tape can at best attract punishment for the Army Brigadier who collaborated with PDP chieftains.

The problem as I see it is that from Day 1 as governor, Fayose reinforced his legal mandate with a patent illegality by using the Federal police to drive away the Speaker and most members of the Ekiti State Assembly. He is forcefully maintaining a rump Assembly of seven PDP members only. The day APC takes control of Federal power this impunity will end and the majority legislators can with justification accuse Fayose of gross misconduct and impeach him.

PoliticsAngry Tinubu Attacks Fani-kayode, Says His “hallucinations Now Uncontrollable” by truthispainful(op): 12:18pm On Mar 02, 2015
A National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has described Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, as a peddler of falsehood hired for a smear campaign against the party, its leader, and presidential candidates.

“Fani-Kayode is not as smart as he thinks. If you read between the lines of his hysteria you see another extreme sentiment: that of surging desperation,” Mr. Tinubu said in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media, Sunday Dare.

“His statement indicates that even he now realizes that his pay master has lost to Buhari/Osinbajo. The game is over. The whistle has blown. What the fantasy man seeks to do is change the game. He seeks to run against Tinubu in hopes the outcome will be better. Fani now grasps at straw in the night wind.”

Last Friday, Mr. Fani-Kayode, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, alleged that Yemi Osinbajo, the APC vice presidential candidate, had sworn an oath to vacate his seat should the party win the forthcoming election.

According to Mr. Fani-Kayode, Mr. Tinubu nominated the vice presidential candidate as part of “plans to come to power through the back door”.

“Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins,” said Mr. Fani-Kayode.

“The wicked plot, as laid out by them, is to force Osinbajo to resign for Tinubu to be nominated by Buhari as his replacement.”

Mr. Tinubu said that the former minister “is on a futile journey to shield the populace from seeing the failures of his paymasters”.

“His statement taken in context indicates that his paymasters will lose the election. They are now worried about what will happen thereafter,” he said.

“The majority of Nigerians have concluded that they have done enough damage to our politics, economy and security; and cannot be tolerated any longer. Rather, they should be voted out by the people. Their journey of lies and deception is at its terminal point.

“It lied to Nigerians and the international community that elections had to be shifted first because of the PVC issue and later it became a security ambush to change the date thus aborting Nigeria’s date with destiny at the polls.

“That FFK(Femi Fani-Kayode) is the best a ruling party can do as a spokesman speaks volumes about the PDP. They are bereft of talent and character. They are filled with lies and chicanery. FFK is simply the worst and most outspoken of a bad lot.”

Mr. Tinubu, however, said that he welcomed Mr. Fani-Kayode’s interventions because they are of such low quality and base character and his utterances frighten people.

“Instead of scaring the people away from the APC, his work scares people that someone so unfit is so close to the seat of power, someone so unhinged is given free rein to spit bile and call that public discourse. One must wonder who is unbalanced, the misfit or he who hires him. Keep at it FFK. Continue,” Mr. Tinubu said.

“Most Nigerians are fed up with this government and desire change. They await eagerly that opportunity at the polls. They cannot tolerate four more years of a Fani Kayode, of his paymasters and his utterances. That is your agony Fani Kayode and of course that of the PDP and its gang of destroyers. You will not be able to persuade majority of Nigerians who are prepared to use their vote for a positive change. And if only to shield the populace from your peculiar brand of abuse of power both you and your boss must go.”

The APC leader said that the ruling party’s smear campaign failed to make a headway against the APC’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, and is now resorting to run against him.

“This plot will not work. Tinubu is not scheming to become president through the back door. He, just like any qualified Nigerian has the right to walk in through the front door if he so desires. But he is not on the ticket,” he said.

“For the job he is hired to do, it is expected that a Fani Kayode will be blinded to the positive nature of the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket. If he has failed to read and do some research on the character of an Osinbajo, let me help him.

“Yemi Osinbajo is fiercely independent. A brilliant mind of great character and a consummate reformer and legal crusader. You will not dare speak of him in this manner. The APC ticket is of people of great resolve. But because among your own crowd you have people who will willingly destroy not only our institutions and country you think so of others.

“APC is a party with people of impeccable character. Courageous and patriotic leaders who are out to rescue our nation. And you, Fani Kayode are on record to have said so in several interviews.”

Mr. Tinubu said that he would not dignify Mr. Fani-Kayode’s “outrageous lies” with any reply, adding that Nigerians know him as a peddler of falsehood.

“Femi Fani Kayode cannot just leave Tinubu alone because they see him as their political nemesis. But Tinubu will not be their dart board . If they want to see the culprit behind their flagging misfortune, they do not need to glare at Tinubu. They should go home and peer into the nearest mirror. Therein their trouble lies.

“Now that FFK has revealed why his party, the PDP has consistently persecuted Bola Tinubu through phony Code of Conduct Tribunal, massive unjustified attacks against his character and integrity, intimidation and harassment.

“They all have failed. In what is a classic case of abuse of power, the government you now work for have accused Tinubu in the past of baseless and unproven allegations whereas in your party, including yourself, there are wolves feasting on the commonwealth of the people.

“For a leadership that cannot define corruption and theft, we are left with a gang of plunderers. You have openly and secretly stolen and plundered the wealth of the nation without the slightest concern about morality and the suffering masses.”

PoliticsExposed! The Dirty Life Style Of Femi Fani Kayode, His Sexcapade, Drug. by truthispainful(op):
This is definitely not a good time for dandy politician and Former Minister,Femi Fani-Kayode. Since his unguided statements of erotic tales with some Igbo women, including Bianca Ojukwu,in his article,'A Word For Those Who Say I'm A Tribalist',which he has expressed regrets over .Many have literarily called for his head. From left right and centre, the APC chieftain, has received unprecedented bashing. As if that was not enough, from the blues, one Shama Maliga, who claimed to have worked closely with Fani Kayode, when he was serving under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, came to town with an unbelievably gory, dirty, drug; sex lifestyle the former Minister of Aviation.....Here is the Shama Maliga's unedited post,on facebook.
1. I have been in dispute with Femi since September 2011 over personal issues.
2. I worked with ObJ between, 2004 to 2007 (Second term) as private in house Agent before leaving to back to Canada in late 2007.
3. I have known Femi since 2002; we first met during an evening Private meeting, on a Sunday at Otta (OBJ’s Parlor).
4. Femi never hide his sexual taste on women (both single and Married. And in many occasions with OBJ, OBJ stylishly joke over Femi’s unending libido on women who rush for assistance, favor or help in Abuja.
5. OBJ calls him “Woman Rapper” and usually warn him to be careful.
6. Many of us including his Aides and OBJ’s Aides knew that Femi is usually on drugs.
7. I can categorically state that Femi has slept with the lady (Adaobi Uchegbu) he mentioned on his FB wall, I don’t know about Miss Chioma Anasoh, I have never heard or seen her before but I say he’s only dreaming of sleeping with Bianca. I believe he’s only lying or trying to make his petition against Ibos strong by dragging Bianca to his chains and lists of banged women. Throughout my time with them (OBJ, Atiku, Imoke and Femi), I have never seen or heard of any relationship between him and Bianca. It would be surprising to know that Femi has never in his life met Bianca, because Femi is very good at lies.
8. No doubt Femi has slept with many Nigerian women (Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, IJaw etc); Married and Unmarried women.
9. He was not only the person that slept with Adaobi Ukaegbu. I have done it with her severally even when Femi was poking her day and night in Abuja. Even many security men have done it with her under Femi’s nose. So I don’t think Femi should make noise about Adaobi. Adaobi to security men who have banged her severally in and outside Villa was seen as one of those Abuja Prostitutes. She and many other ladies even from south west, South-East, South-south and North were just popular to many of us as political sex hankers. Anyone can bang Adaobi and others even just by mentioning that you are a son to a local government chairman, but you must be ready.
10. She (Adaobi) is not alone in warming of Abuja men’s bed, many Yoruba, Hausa, Tiv, Edo etc were all in the same business of being bleeped for one favor or the other. Today, many of them were lucky to head or work in one office or the other as they continue their political bed warming in Abuja.
11. Unfortunately, what Femi doesn’t know is that; while he was busy messing up with people’s wives, girls friends, others were also busy fucking his house hood (his wife and female children) under his nose.
12. I can authoritatively inform you that in two different occasions in 2006; one in Abuja and the other in Saudi Arabia, Former VP (Atiku) wiped Regina (Femi’s wife). Madam Regina Fani-Kayode is also a hot pant and money hunger just like her husband Femi.
13. Femi has five beautiful daughters and I can authoritatively inform you that OBJ has severally slept with Regina and Oluwafolake (Femi’s first daughter).
14. Femi’s daughters; Oluwafolake, who’s mostly called (Folake) and Oluwatemitope who’s mostly called (Temi) are Bi-Sex, and worst of it they are into incest relationship. Two one them have been caught severally making things out on the bed by their own father, who is also crazy about sex and drugs.
15. I, personally have banged Folake, and Temi, but my other colleague has banged Femi’s second to the youngest daughter of his second divorced wife; Oluwatobiloba, who at her prime age love sex more than food.
16. Femi might be aware of the sexual relationship between his wife, daughter with OBJ. He has in some occasions quarreled with Regina and threatens her of Divorce, but for the sake of OBJ and his job, Femi kept mute.
17. In October 2010 during Femi’s private dinner for his 50th birthday, Regina went home with OBJ and spent the Night with him while Femi was busy bedding Adaobi who assisted very well for the social event. Adaobi case nearly destroyed Femi’s home as his wife usually use her as an excuse of sexual immorality even with young campus boys and ex-boy friends.
18. In 2007, one of the security men who has severally banged Femi’s daughter Temi was caught happily showcasing his big black dick to another Femi’s daughter Oluwatuminu during her holiday break, which she admired with smile. They were caught on a newly installed CCTV and the young man was fired thereafter.
19. The only daughter from Regina was the only decent girl in Femi’s house, although she’s still growing up.
20. There’s trouble in Femi’s house hood over madness of immorality sexual relationship and drug addicts. Femi has personally told me when things were okay between us that “Women are only tools for enjoyment”. He said he divorced his first wife (Saratu) the late 1990 over trust. Saratu who I met once was Folake’s mother, even though they have divorce and the woman remarried, Femi still bang her whenever she visit Abuja as I know in 2006.
21. Femi’s second marriage lasted only five years (1991 – 1995 as I later knew) with three daughters; Oluwatemitope, Oluwatobiloba and Oluwatuminu. He’s divorced second wife Yemisi Olasunbo Adeniji once accused him of sleeping with their first Oluwatemitope(Temi), although she’s no longer his wife, Femi usually demand sex from her which to my knowledge the woman never give in but have slept severally with Femi’s friends and politicall associate.
22. Regina Fani-Kayode (nee Regina patience Amonoo), Femi’s third and present wife have also been accused by Femi of sleeping with his brother Rotimi Fani-Kayode. Regina who had only one daughter; Oluwaremilekun for Femi has been warned by Femi not to operate or open FaceBook account, because Femi thinks she will end up getting dating more young guys on internet.
23. I can state here that Femi’s marriage with Regina will still not last. The lady is also smart and sexually active like Femi. Femi hasn’t divorce her yet because he’s still eating through her as the Lady keeps secret dates with top politicians, makes money and ready to fix Femi too politically. OBJ’s relationship with Femi has been cordial because of this lady who warms OBJ ‘s bed regularly. The same lady has been making personally effort with GEJ for herself and probably for fix for Femi.
24. Finally, I have never banged Femi’s third wife Regina but I can say she’s a nice woman in her good side, though I have enjoyed nice sexual views of her. Seen her being banged by VP and Presido and assisted her many times with her clothes. My problem with them is that they are ingrates. Thanks for their daughters who made me happy several times with their tits, pussy and mouths. There’s no need throwing stone when you have so many glass houses. Nigeria MUST remain One. Those preaching division from south-south and south-East are wasting their time. it is Endless

PoliticsWe Do Not Ask For Change Because We Are Not Bus Conductor - Patience Jonathan by truthispainful(op): 1:28pm On Feb 27, 2015
Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has urged Nigerian women to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next month’s general elections, saying the opposition party will take the country back to analog days.

Popularly called ‘Mama Peace’ by her admirers, Mrs Jonathan, told women at Orerokpe, Okple local government area of Delta state that any woman who votes for the APC is an enemy of herself.

Vanguard reports that the First Lady, who was speaking at the PDP Women for Change Initiative Presidential Rally in the state, praised the benevolence of the PDP administration to women in the country, citing the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin) and Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), as some of the empowerment programmes that the Goodluck Jonathan administration was using to empower women and youths in the country.

She said: “The PDP is a party that talks less and does more, unlike the APC that tells new lies every week. When you catch them today, they will tell another lie tomorrow. We (PDP) do not tell you about change because we are not bus conductors that ask for change.

“We are now in a digital age and we should reject anyone who wants to take us back to analog days. They keep saying they will do this and that. They should tell us what they have done for Nigerians while in office. As for President Jonathan, he has vowed to do more when he is re-elected.

“President Jonathan has brought a lot of innovation and empowerment programmes for us women. This is because no one loves the Nigerian woman more than Mr. President and the best way to pay him back is by re-electing him.”

In a brief remark at the rally, the Delta state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, also praised the achievements of the president, saying: “When someone does well in office, you should return that person to office and that is why all Deltans are prepared to re-elect President Jonathan as President, come March 28.”

Meanwhile, a recent report has revealed that the first degree of Aisha Buhari, the wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), might be fake.

PoliticsFashola Lists Jonathan's Sins Against Lagosians by truthispainful(op): 1:16pm On Feb 27, 2015
Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, is unimpressed with President Goodluck Jonathan on many levels, and the latest reason is over his recent visits to the state.

He spoke on Thursday, February 26, during the APC rally at Ifako/Ijaye local government area of the state.

We picked five quotes from his statement – here they are:

[b]1. “They have said the President is coming to Lagos. He is welcome to come; Lagos is part of his constituency but we will not vote for him because when we needed him, he did not come to help us. When the international airport road was damaged and he promised to fix it, did you see him?”

2 “When Ebola hit Lagos, did he come? When Kuramo Beach was overflowing and it was going to wipe out the entire Goshen Beach Estate, did you see the President?

3 “When I took him to Ibeju-Lekki, where people were losing their lands, we flew in a helicopter to the place but after that, the President never returned. I wrote letters and appealed but no response.”

4 “We have been using your taxes to protect those communities. So, you have been on your own, with your own party and government. So, he can come 200 times but will you vote for him?”

5 “The only time the President works is a few weeks to elections. When there was security problem in Lagos, who was buying guns and patrol vehicles for the police? Was it not us?”

PoliticsYou Need To Know What Buhari Plan On Doing In Battle Against Bokok Haram. by truthispainful(op): 12:37pm On Feb 27, 2015
The All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to personally “lead from the front” in the war against the Islamist sect, Boko Haram if voted in as the country’s president in March 28 presidential poll.

I Will Lead From The Front In Boko Haram War- Buhari
General Muhammadu Buhari

The presidential aspirant gave the pledge on Thursday while delivering a speech at the Chatham House international affairs institute in London, Vanguard reports.

The APC presidential candidate who is a former military head of state also used the medium to reject the descriptions of him as a “dictator,”

Buhari, who argued against further delays to the election, expressed optimism that a free, fair and peaceful election would enhance democracy in Africa. He also asserted that Nigeria had been failed by a consistent lack of leadership from Jonathan in the insurgency.

“Our soldiers have neither received the necessary support nor the required incentive to tackle this problem. Let me assure you that if I’m elected president, I vow to change that. We will give them adequate modern arms and ammunition, we will improve intelligence gathering, we will be tough on terrorists and tough on its root causes in the affected areas. No inch of Nigerian territory will ever be in the hands of the enemy,” Buhari said.

The 72-year-old opposition presidential candidate who has been seen as neck-and-neck with President Goodluck Jonathan in the closely fought election campaign pledged to to return Nigeria to its former role as a stabilising force in West Africa.

While responding to speculations that President Jonathan and the PDP shifted the elections to give them time to quell the momentum from the APC, Buhari said: “any form of extension will not be tolerated. Instead, free, fair and peaceful elections could trigger a wave of democratic consolidation in Africa and help to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.”

The APC flag bearer, who is seen as an anti-corruption figure despite alleged human rights abuses during his tenure as a military head of state in the 1980s, also cleared the air on the descriptions of himself as a former dictator.

“Let me say without sounding defensive that dictatorship was military rule, though some are less dictatorial than others. I take responsibility for whatever happened under my watch. I cannot change the past but I can change the present and the future. So, before you is a former military ruler and a converted democrat who is ready to operate under democratic rules. I will, if elected, lead by personal example,” he said.

The presidential candidate, however, noted that on the issue of corruption, there will be no confusion as to where he stands, adding that corruption will have no place and the corrupt will not be appointed to his administration.

Buhari further assured that APC government would work to free the people from the curse of poverty, noting that the expectation of getting there overnight is not realistic but there are some people in Nigeria who are serious about stabilising the system.

Meanwhile, some people have predicted that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could lose power for the first time since Nigeria returned to her civilian rule in 1999.

However, Nigerians have taken to different social media platform to express their feelings about the speech delivered at the Chatham House international affairs institute in London by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.)

PoliticsThugs Storm Buhari's Campaign Office In Enugu by truthispainful(op): 9:16am On Feb 19, 2015
Armed hoodlums yesterday stormed the Enugu State campaign office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.).

The incident comes the next day after violence had been unleashed unleashed by the unknown at the APC rally in Okrika, Rivers State. A policeman was killed and 50 people were injured.

Punch reports that  following yesterday’s incident several people sustained injuries.

The details are however sketchy as it is believed that the thug attack is linked with an earlier crisis within the party after the allegations that some members embezzled funds meant for Buhari’s Enugu rally.

Iyke Oloto who was reportedly beaten and whisked away, later allegedly sent an SMS where he identified the guilty party. The APC Youth Leader accused the party’s governorship candidate, Okey Ezea, of being behind the attack.

His message read:

“My National Chairman sir, greetings of the season. Please my name is Prince Ike Oloto, state youth leader and a state working committee member, Enugu State.

“I want to inform you of the injustice and discrimination done to us by our state chairman and guber candidate, Mr. Okey Ezea.

“Sir, our consistent demand to know the financial status of our party APC and insisting that our State SWC and SEC are carried along in the state, some of us including my humble self, is either suspended, excluded or sidelined in party affairs.

“My name was removed and replaced in BCO.
“More so, Barr Ezea guber candidate has been bought and settled by PDP with N600m.

“Right now, Barr Okey Ezea, is sabotaging APC as saboteur and PDP mole.

“All GMB funds and logistics to Enugu State has been dubiously channelled to his private account and not utilised.

“Mark my word Sir and quote me.

“Your true servant, Prince Ike Oloto.”

More information is yet to be obtained on this story.

PoliticsAmbode’ll Improve Lagos Economy – Tinubu by truthispainful(op): 6:55am On Feb 19, 2015
A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has urged the people of the state to ensure that the All Progressives Congress continues to rule Lagos, adding that only the APC can successfully manage the economy of the state which is the largest in the country.

Tinubu said the nation’s economy had continue to weaken in the face of dwindling oil prices, adding that the economy of Lagos remained unaffected because the APC had successfully managed the economy of the state in the last 16 years.

He, therefore, urged residents of the state to vote for the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

The former governor said this at the party’s secretariat during a meeting which had in attendance Governor Babatunde Fashola, Ambode, his running mate, Dr. Oluranti Adebule; and the state chairman of the APC, Chief Henry Ajomale.

The meeting was held in order to discuss strategies and moves to ensure victory in the forthcoming general elections.

“Lagos is the headquarters of the progressives; Lagos is the centre of excellence with an exemplary economy. It is clear that Ambode, a very brilliant and sharp man of distinction with a financially sound mind, is the person to vote for in order to ensure continuity, especially considering the dwindling economy at the centre,” Tinubu said.

The APC leader urged all members of the party to ensure that more people received their Permanent Voter Cards.

He said since many states had used the opportunity of the postponement to collect their cards, Lagos must not be an exception. He noted that the 62 per cent collection rate was still low compared to other states.

He said the next five weeks must be used to spread the party’s message of change.

“All hands must be on deck to ensure that our resolve for continuity in Lagos and for change at the centre remains strong. You all should be a volunteer for your own good in the interest of this country,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu said all APC supporters must see the elections as an event which could save or alter the destiny of children unborn.

“Please do this as your civic responsibility for yourselves, for the sake of your children and for the party,” he said.

Meanwhile, governorship aspirants who lost to Ambode during the party’s primary on December 5, 2014, have underscored the need to vote for Ambode on April 11.

The aspirants under the aegis of The Support Group for Ambode 2015, said the Peoples Democratic Party had no plan for Lagos State.

Other members of the group are a former Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Demola Seriki; a former Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan; and Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi.

Speaking on behalf of the group on the sidelines of a road show held in honour of Ambode, the Vice Chairman of the group, Mr. Fola Tinubu, dispelled rumours about Ambode’s health.

He said, “All Lagosians need to do is to ask themselves if they whey will like to be governed by a party that has failed to deliver on the most critical duty of the government – security. If the APC administration of Lagos State had left the state to the security policies of the Presidency, life would have become difficult for Lagosians.

“Through the Lagos State Security Fund and direct government assistance, the Fashola administratio has committed billions of naira to keep the lives and properties of Lagosians safe. Indeed, without these measures, the boom in the hotels and hospitality business which provides the habitat for arts, music and leisure would have collapsed.

“This is what Mr. Ambode seeks to consolidate – a Lagos safe for you and me. But with the disinformation and misinformation of the PDP, with the hypocritical and false propaganda of the PDP, it is possible for the voters to take these achievements for granted and be shortchanged.

“This consolidator road show takes the facts and figures, the promise of the Ambode leadership, the legacy of the APC in Lagos State to the streets. It is a mission of reminder and recall. We believe that with this engagement, we shall wipe the lies of the PDP with the brooms of truth and restore honesty where the PDP has sowed dishonesty.”

PoliticsCard Readers Are Going To Stay - Jega Tells Senators by truthispainful(op): 7:04pm On Feb 18, 2015
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega today revealed that the commission won’t be repealing the decision to use Card Readers for this year’s polls.

Jega revealed this as he appeared in front of 109 senators over the postponement of the 2015 elections for six weeks.

The INEC chief said that his commission did not go outside of the law with the introductions of these card readers.

He cited section 52 (2) of the electoral law only deals with voting and prohibits the use of electronic voting machines.

He said that most indigines of Adamawa, Yobe and Borno state got their PVCs in time because Adamawa and Yobe states were the pilot states, where they began to give out cards across the country.

As of the issue of PVC’s being stolen, Jega said: “anybody who buys or steals PVCs cannot use it for election and it is therefore useless to do so.”

He also revealed that over 3000 PVC’s were stollen in Ebonyi state.

He also revealed that there won’t be any more postponement because that would be unconstitutional as the time limit provided by law will elapse in April.

Jega was summoned yesterday by the Senate after senate leader Victor Ndoma-Egba alleged that the use of card readers violate the electoral law
PoliticsI Believe The Former General Will Fight Corruption - Obasanjo by truthispainful(op): 6:36pm On Feb 18, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again restated his endorsement of the APC Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd).

Obasanjo made the statement while answering questions from newsmen who had laid siege at his Presidential Hilltop, Abeokuta Saturday morning on his return from abroad added that he was surprised with the election postponement of the country by 6 weeks.

"I left Nigeria penultimate Wednesday, I traveled to Morocco, Munich, Nairobi, London and New Delhi. Exactly a week today, we were in Munich for the Munich Security Conference. I was there with Koffi Annah, a lot of world leaders were there and I was to talk about peace in Africa, the former president said.

Obasanjo who alleged that President Jonathan has a grand plot to continue in office added that Buhari is more competent and well equipped to tackle the corruption, recklessness and impunity that has eaten deep into the fabrics of many Nigerians than the present leadership.

Read His Statement In Part.....................................

"Buhari is more competent and well equipped to tackle the corruption, recklessness and impunity that has eaten deep into the fabrics of many Nigerians.

"With the statement credited to Mr President during his media chat few days back that he was not aware of what the security chiefs said, bluntly said, “he is reigning and not ruling, so who are those hiding somewhere and ruling this country?”, he queried.

"I believes in the leadership of Buhari more than anybody at this present time, asking Nigerians not to compare the military era to the democratic system.

“I believe General Buhari will fight corruption, he will give firm leadership. When he was there before, he was a military and military leader is both the executive and the legislative but in democracy, it is not possible like that.

“Moreso, military has been rendered impotent and I believe he will do everything to resuscitate it because he knows the military well, so he will do it, if he fails to do it, I will say shame unto him.”

Obasanjo also appealed to President Jonathan not to listen to those who are creating phobia of Buhari and phobia of enquiry, adding that, the President has done well and he should rather have a dignified exit which will acclaim him as a patriot and true democrat.

Politics36 Dead As Explosions Rock Biu Again by truthispainful(op): 11:34am On Feb 18, 2015
There was multiple bomb explosions in Biu, the biggest town in south of the troubled Borno State on Tuesday, a resident of the town, Ibrahim Isah, said on the telephone.

Though details of the explosions remain sketchy as the extent of damages and number of casualty could not be ascertained on Tuesday afternoon, Isah said the incident occurred at about noon.

He insisted that it was massive and might have led to huge loss of lives.

A member of youth vigilante, who spoke on the condition of anonymity on the telephone to our correspondent, said the incident happened at a neighbourhood known as Yamarkumi along Maiduguri Road.

“There were three explosions in Yamarkumi here in Biu town. Many people have been affected; the casualty figure from what we are seeing now have surpassed that of the market suicide bombing that occurred on Thursday. Ambulances are rushing in and out for now. We will give you details later, “another health worker told our correspondent.

However, one medical source at the General Hospital, Biu told AFP that 36 people were killed while 20 were injured in the blast.

Effort to get a confirmation of the incident from the Police and military authorities failed. But a security source at the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, an Army captain, whose name could not be published as he was not authorised to speak to the press, said the matter had been reported and the military operatives were already embarking on a full scale action in the area.

Meanwhile, the Boko Haram insurgents have burnt down the palace of the Emir of Askira in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, the spokesman for the youth vigilante group, Jubrin Gunda, said on Tuesday.

Speaking to our correspondent on the telephone from Maiduguri, the state capital, Gunda said the palace was attacked by the insurgents on Sunday night.

He said during the Sunday’s attack the palace was razed by the sect’s fighters.

He lamented that after beating a retreat on Sunday, the insurgents came back to Askira on Monday morning to continue their reign of terror as they burnt down some other houses and killed many residents of the town.

He said, “As of now, I cannot tell you the number of people killed but all I can say is that the palace of the emir was razed on Sunday by the insurgents at night, they equally returned to burn more houses in the town on Monday morning.”

“At the moment, they are not in the town as they have fled back into the bushes and as such you cannot say the town was captured.”

PoliticsTinubu, Saraki, Amaechi’s Phones Have Been Bugged —APC by truthispainful(op): 10:53am On Feb 13, 2015
The All Progressives Congress says Federal Government’s security agencies have bugged the mobile phones of a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Senator Bukola Saraki.

The party added that the telephones of its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had also been bugged by the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government.

The APC said this in a statement by Mohammed on Thursday.

The statement read, “As the elections approach, we know the harassment and intimidation will be stepped up. We know our leaders, including the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former Governor Bola Tinubu, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor Timipre Sylva, Senator Bukola Saraki and National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, are under surveillance and their phones have been hacked.

“We are aware that several of them, especially the National Publicity Secretary, have been marked down for arrest in the days to come.

“We know there are evil plots to frame some of them on trumped-up charges. We know our lives are in danger. But these and more will not deter us from continuing to act in the national interest or from seeking to effect change through the ballot box.

“Yes, we are alerting Nigerians that if anything happens to us they should know where it is coming from, but for us there is no going back because we are resolute.”

The party said its leadership and members will not be intimidated by the latest ‘antics’ of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration to harass and intimidate the opposition ahead of the elections.

The party said the recent military siege to the house of Tinubu, the Imo State Government House and the police harassment of the APC’s presidential campaign spokesman, Garba Shehu, signifies desperation in the camp of the PDP.

The APC thanked Nigerians for their immense and unwavering support, especially since the postponement of the elections.

The party said, “We are glad that instead of weakening the resolve and enthusiasm of Nigerians, the Presidency-orchestated postponement has further galvanised them to be more determined not only to vote but also to defend their votes.”

The APC called on Jonathan to remember the verdict of history and put his ‘dogs of war’ on a leash, saying that history will judge no one but him for the actions of his supporters, who are all acting in his name.

PoliticsPDP Baffled Buhari, Soyinka Support Buhari READ MORE. by truthispainful(op): 10:42am On Feb 13, 2015
The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed surprise over the support of main challanger, All Progressives Congress’s (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) by former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the March 28, 2015 elections.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, who said this on Thursday in Abuja, also expressed surprise that Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, who has been in and out of jail houses because of various military dictatorships, is also supporting the former Military head of state.

In a statement titled, “The APC propaganda has lost steam, PDP must seize chance to win again” The ruling party charged all members of the PDP at all levels to continue to show support for the PDP.

The Statement also claims that Afro beat legend Fela Kuti will be shaking in his grave over the support of Buhari by his townsman Wole Soyinka.

The Statement in full on Daily Times reads:

“The biggest surprise is the endorsement of the opposition by our own former leader and former president, whom we supported for eight years and who wanted more years to continue the leadership of Nigeria and which we refused in order not to kill our constitution. Now, he is a fanatic of change”.

“Our famous Nobel laureate, who has been in and out of jail houses because of his opposition to military dictatorship is also singing the change anthem. His best friend and townsman, the greatest musician this country has ever produced must be shaking in his grave to learn what his friend has done”

Muazu, while assuring all PDP faithful that victory is in sight, said, “and we must pursue it with vigour until the last vote is counted; the freest and fairest election result is announced and we are victorious”.

“All Peoples Democratic Party members at all levels from ward, local government, state and federal, must in the next five weeks to the March 28th 2015 Presidential Elections, gird their loins, tighten all loose ends as we face a titanic battle to ensure that we win a historic fourth presidential election victory, control the National Assembly and produce more governors on April 11, 2015.

“We are on the threshold of winning the 2015 general elections because our opponents have been disoriented, their consistent fabrication of lies to win the votes of Nigerians has been exposed and their change mantra has lost steam.

“There is no sector in Nigeria that has not witnessed tremendous transformation and change under the PDP government.

“The seed sown by the Jonathan administration in the area of education has hit the most desired part of the country with the establishment of the Almajiri schools which has already revolutionized education in the north of Nigeria.

“The establishment of nine new universities in the area means that those youngsters will continue with University education when they graduate to that level.

“The opposition has tried to belittle this massive transformation with their high decibel of noise that it was nothing to write home about, but the truth is that those young lives have never had it so good. Their totally transformed lives are bound to become the cornerstone of the new Nigeria we are building in the next four years and beyond.

“The APC’s sickening shouts of CHANGE has lost steam and they have nothing else to shout about and this is the best time to put them where they belong, in the dumps of defeat at the Opposition benches across the country.

“The greatest gift our party is offering to Nigeria is freedom. Under President Jonathan, you are free to say what you want to say, do what you want to do provided it is lawful.

“Under the Opposition APC, you will be watched, trailed and sorted out if you oppose them as you are freely opposing the present incumbent. The Internet is awash with evidence of abuse of President Jonathan and PDP leaders. If you think it can continue if the Opposition is in charge, wait and see.

“The lies being laundered by the APC about the PDP administration has, in fact, yielded one dividend that has done the PDP one good turn. It has brought the best in us. It has ‘shined’ our eyes and we are now ready for whatever they bring to the table. Defeat is theirs and Victory is ours. No shaking, my people”.

Soyinka and Obasanjo are not the only major political players to critizes Jonathan, the likes of Socio-political group Afenifere, former Military ruler Ibrahim Babaginda, Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) have supported the Buhari.

PoliticsBREAKING!!! "PDP Set Up 37-person Committee, Spent N185bn To Rig Elections by truthispainful(op): 4:39pm On Feb 12, 2015
According to a number of pro-All Progressives Congress Facebook pages, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party have spent N185 billion to bribe voters, religious leaders and electoral officers in hopes of rigging the elections.

Last weekend, Professor Attahiru Jega, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commision, has announced the INEC’s decision to postpone the 2015 elections to March and April. Since then, Nigerians, already agitated from “the election fever”, have been making assumptions as to who or what might be behind the date shift, and if the reasons listed by the INEC are genuine – however, in yesterday’s media chat, President Jonathan maintained he does not interfere in the Commission’s affairs.

After the elections postponement, Nigeria’s two opposing poltical giants and their respective flag-bearers, the APC and Muhammadu Buhari, and the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan, have gotten a second wind for exchanging bitter remarks and mutual accusations.

Yesterday, a couple of APC-supporting Facebook pages have issued “breaking news” from the PDP camp. APC FAN CLUB – Worldwide and APCGovernment suggest that “the Presidency has commissioned a team of 37 members and mobilized them with N5 billion each to deliver him [President Jonathan] come March 28, 2015″.

It is worth noting that in the media chat, President Jonathan said “N21 billion” of his campaign funds are merely rumours
The groups credit a source “very close” to the Presidency for providing them with the information.

The APC’s sources indicate that a 37-person committee has been set up to “deliver president Jonathan in [the] next month’s election considering the imminent defeat staring at him in the event that an election is held today”.

The said committee is allegedly comprised of each state’s representatives who also are “notable political figures within the PDP and President Jonathan’s government”. The “advisers” of the Presidency are fearing for President Jonathan’s “dwindling popularity and acceptability among the Nigerian electorate” and “with the international community,” the APC-supporting Facebook pages report.

Also mentioned were “red flags” such as various polls conducted on social media “where President Jonathan woefully lost to the opposition candidate [Buhari],“ as opposed to similar exercises conducted in 2011.

According to the APC sources, the Presidency“considered shifting the polls again but was advised against doing so” for the fear of resistance from Nigerians and the international community. Furthermore, “an interim government was also considered,” but the proposition “did not go through because many at the meeting wondered how it will be possible when the opposition constitutes over 50% of the National Assembly.”

Eventually, the 37-person committee came to the conclusion that “the only viable option is to use money to buy voters, lobby religious rulers and influence some resident electoral officers to rig the election” in the PDP’s favour. Each member was presented with “N 5 billion mobilization fee,” N185 billion in total. The APC’s source added that more people could be incorporated into the committee should the need arise.

The committee is expected to report to the Preseidency on their progress in the next four weeks.

PoliticsBREAKING!!! Boko Haram Attacks Police Station And Foiled At Gov’s Office. by truthispainful(op): 3:56pm On Feb 12, 2015
Boko Haram insurgents bombed a police station in northeast Nigeria, as the Islamists pressed on with attacks despite a multinational offensive targeting their strongholds, witnesses and security sources said Thursday. Separately, an attempted suicide attack was foiled outside a political office elsewhere in the embattled northeast, raising fears of growing unrest in the run-up to Nigeria’s general election, which has been postponed by six weeks. The Boko Haram uprising has raged for six years, killing more than 13,000 people, and the sect has in recent months increasingly posed a regional threat. Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger have since the start of this month launched an unprecedented joint effort to crush the uprising, raising hopes that this new cooperation could turn the tide. In a nationally broadcast interview on Wednesday, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan vowed that “serious advances will be made” over the next six weeks, meaning security will have improved by the new election day, March 28. “But I’m not saying (we will) wipe out Boko Haram,” he added. The insurgents have proved resilient throughout the conflict and despite initial claims of success, few believe the regional military teamwork can contain the conflict in the short term. – Police attacked – Scores of militants armed with guns and explosives stormed a police station in the town of Kanamma in Yobe state late Monday, multiple sources told AFP. Details of the violence took days to emerge because of the poor phone network in the remote area. “The terrorists overpowered our men and set the police station on fire before kidnapping the DPO (district police officer), whose body was later found in the bush,” said one senior officer, who requested anonymity. Several other policemen were killed, he added. That account was supported by Kanamma resident Maina Kachalla, who said the police station was bombed and burnt down. Kanamma holds significance in the history of the Boko Haram conflict. The group was formed in Maiduguri, the capital of neighbouring Borno state in 2002 but a hardline faction relocated to Kanamma in 2004 and attempted to form an extremist enclave in the town which they called “Afghanistan”, taking inspiration from the Taliban. They clashed with the military in Kanamma in January 2004 in the first known case of unrest involving the group that later become known as Boko Haram, which roughly means “Western education is forbidden”. The latest violence there was several hundred kilometres (miles) from the eastern edge of Borno state, the current epicentre of the multi-national offensive, which indicated that regional armies have substantial ground to cover if they hope to crush the insurgency. – Attempted suicide blast – In Yobe’s economic capital Potiskum, multiple witnesses said an attempted suicide bombing was thwarted outside the campaign office of Governor Ibrahim Geidam. The suspect reportedly raised suspicion by loitering outside the office and was confronted by a crowd, causing him to run into an abandoned building where he blew himself up, according to witness Abubakar Ubale, in an account borne out by two others. A similar incident outside a political office killed seven people on February 1 in Potiskum, while the next day a suicide bombing hit a presidential campaign rally in Gombe just after Jonathan left the site.
