There is a difference between ostracizing and descending to the same level of bestiality. I am not sure what it is you are disagreeing with or what you think I am saying. Maybe you should understand that first. The fact that Abacha was the way he was does not mean we should become like him .We are talking about Fayose's Advert here so let us not lose sight of that. I do not see any German politicians campaigning and putting their opponents pictures alongside that of Hitler. That is the issue and so when we debate we must have clarity in our minds what exactly it is we are talking about. [/color]

Follow your advice. Don't derail, Stay on topic. Please read the title of this thread, (Sani Abacha's daughter Gusmu slams Fayose over controversial ad.). Then read my first comment., advising Ms Abacha not to expect respect for Sani Abacha even in death. For me wether Fayose was right or wrong is red herring. Perhaps credit will be given for commenting on the right topic.
As a society we did not descend to Abach's level. We didn't feed his corpse to the dogs as you earlier suggested . While Abacha brought pain, grief and silenced many people and their family members . Abacha's family members are still free to move about and living well. A thriving society should have standards. Abacha deserved to be ostracized from a people who value the sanctity of life. The Coroner pronouncing someone dead does not automatically bestow respect on that person if that person was a degenerate while alive.

Whether we like Abacha or not he is still a human being and we cannot disrespect him in this way without disrespeting ourselves. When he died why dd we not take his body and feed it to dogs to show our anger.

This has nothing to do with Abacha but is out our humanity and values.
