Don't be offended, you got it wrong.

1.
Tithe is not for musical equipment and fuelling generators and cars. Tithe is for giving the church shelter and for providing for the poor and needy. As a matter of fact, you even omitted the poor and needy who are the major essence of tithing.

2.
People have been paying tithes but it has not stopped pastors from calling for donations. So, you are wrong for saying that payment of tithes will stop pastors from calling for donations.
1. Tithing and Offering is for the welfare of the members and church too. 2 I didn't say payment of tithe will stop pastors from calling for donation. I said it will reduce the frequent call for members for donations. The needs of are usually big.

I respect you for being a Pastor.

However, show me a passage in the Bible to substantiate your claim. Tithes in the Bible are basically farm produce. They are only turned to money when the payer is coming from a long distance.

I respectfully put it to you that the purpose of tithing is simply for food and nothing more. Offerings can be collected for other things though.
In the Old Testament, it was farm produce based on their produce or harvests but in the NewTestament it is a bit different because your farm produce won't pay your church rent, and other needs in the church. Have you asked yourself this? If tithe and offering aren't important, why do JW leaders take voluntary donations from their members? Why not JW leaders provide the needs in the church with their hard earn money without asking a fathing from their members as donation?

Religion / The Essence Of Tithing And Offering. by Truvelisback(m): 12:30pm On May 26
Good day, fellas. Regarding Tithing and Offering. They are very important to the needs and growth of the church. Needs like the church building project, church rent or venue rentage, Power bill, fueling of generator, getting of musical instrument, maintenance of the church building, church buses etc. If don't expect the pastor to keep bothering the members for donation all the time. You won't understand these until you are asked to pastor a church.

The Bible says, “Bring all the tithe into the store house so that they may be food in my house”

You can deduce from the above Bible verse that the sole purpose of tithing is members' welfare, not church growth.

By the way, you sound like one of these Pentecostal pastors. Are you?
Tithing is not only for members' welfare, it is also for the church welfare. E.g venue or church rentage, church building project, maintenance of the church auditorium, musical instruments, microphones and others. This is reduce the constant calling of members to donate money for things like these all the time. I'm a pentecostal pastor.
Religion / Re: Wealthy Pastors Flying Private Jets Will Find It Difficult Making Heaven! by Truvelisback(m): 11:11am On May 26
Daejumong:
Rich Pastors and Christians will find it difficult making heaven !!!

Matthew 19:23-24
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Why did Jesus say this? Let’s look at the preceding verses?

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

18 “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’

20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

This rich young man was a child of God faithfully keeping his commandments just like many Christians and Pastors today and he was so confident of his stance in God and asked Jesus what he could do to get eternal life!
When Jesus told him to sell ALL his properties and GIVE TO THE POOR and then follow him, he walked away Sad!

As a pastor or Christian flying private jets, driving expensive cars and living a life of luxury, Jesus is saying, Sell All and give to the poor and follow him! Jesus said to attain perfection and build treasure in heaven u must do this!
This appears difficult and unfair to rich Christians? The disciples thought so as well. Let’s see their reaction in the verses that followed:

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Jesus explained that it may look difficult naturally but with God’s help it is possible!

We can invariably conclude from the teachings of Christ here that if you are a pastor living a life of luxury, flying jets and helicopters and some of your members are poor , heaven will be difficult to make for you! These are words directly from the mouth of Jesus who will decide whether we make heaven! His words are superior to any prophet, king , preacher or apostle in the Bible or in contemporary times!
Lies. The Kingdom of God is meant for the rich and poor. So, na the poor e easy for? grin

The difference is you're forced or mandated to offer some money at church. In Voluntary offering you're not mandated to offer anything. All my years as Jehovah witness I don't think I contributed up to 5 times, but when I started going to other church,I was paying offering constantly. See,when it comes to offering en,give it to Jehovah's witness
You are wrong. In Biblical Standard, Offering is voluntary. Jesus also took offering.

Religion / Re: 7 Reasons Why I Respect The Jehovah’s Witnesses by Truvelisback(m): 10:34am On May 26
OnknownSoldier:
I am naturally drawn to things that people generally criticize and most of the time, I do find out that most of these things are not really what people say they are. People would generally hate what they don’t understand and that is the case of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. While growing up, I watched people avoid interacting with them and this made me curious to know about their doctrines.

After studying with the Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 12 years, I can say that they are widely misunderstood by most people. Do I totally agree with them? No, I do not but I share their perspective in some areas like the subject of the Trinity and Tithing. I do not actively study with the Jehovah’s Witnesses anymore but here are areas they have my respect.

First, is evangelism. Without a doubt, no other Christian set actively evangelizes like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, none even come close. As a Jehovah’s Witness, you are readily mandated to evangelize not just occasionally like most Christian sets but regularly.

Second is their civility. As far as I am concerned, I think the Jehovah’s Witnesses are the most civilized Christian set in Nigeria. Even though they use microphones in their services, you can barely hear a sound outside their kingdom hall. I think most churches need to learn from them on how not to disturb people with their horn speakers. It can be very annoying.

Third is their uniformity. I have gone to kingdom halls and many Jehovah’s Witnesses’ conferences in many regions of the country and I can confirm that they teach the same message everywhere. Most multi-branched churches in Nigeria are not like this. Don't let me start to mention names.

Fourth is biblical knowledge. When it comes to biblical knowledge, I haven't seen that Christian set that can win the Jehovah’s Witnesses in a Bible-based debate even though a lot of people will argue that their teachings are heresies. The truth of the matter is that no church is perfect and Jehovah’s Witnesses are not an exemption. Try an engage a random 8-year-old Jehovah’s Witness, you will be shocked by his or her narration of biblical events.

Recently, I was watching a video of two pastors arguing about tithing on Facebook and I was so irritated by the pastor arguing for why Christians should pay tithe. The Bible verses he was using as his defense were totally irrelevant to the points he was making. Jehovah's Witnesses are not like that. If you ask a Jehovah’s Witness a question he doesn't know, he will not try to be proof smart to you or beat around the bush, he will simply tell you that he does have the answer to your question but he will reach out to his superior for the answer. Trust me, he will always come back with a reasonable response even if it doesn't really answer the question exactly but at least it will sound very reasonable.

Fifth is their lower divorce rate. Of course, there will certainly be Jehovah’s Witnesses who are divorced but I am yet to see one myself. Do you know one? The Bible says, “By their fruits, we shall know them. This is a clear testament to show that the word of God is of great effect in their lives. Yeah!

Sixth is their devotion. When it comes to devotion, I rate the Jehovah’s Witnesses very high. A Jehovah’s Witness with an MSc can decide to turn into an artisan simply because he doesn't want anything that will hinder him from going to weekly meetings at the Kingdom Hall. One of their members once told me that he has never missed a meeting in his entire life and if I wasn't mistaken, he should be around 32 years of age when he told me that. Jehovah’s Witnesses don't joke with their meetings and that's why you will rarely see a Jehovah’s Witness working in the bank.

Lastly is their less emphasis on money. This is one area I respect the Jehovah’s Witnesses most. A Jehovah’s Witness will politely stop you by the road, hand you a book that would have cost you a lot of money, and ask that you give a free-will offering. Even if N5 is all you have, he will collect. This is not the way it is in other Christian sets where everything is for sale. The only Christian set that is a bit like the Jehovah’s Witnesses in this regard is the Christ Embassy with their “Rhapsody of Reality”. It will shock you that the Jehovah’s Witnesses do not take offerings or tithe in their meeting except a box at the entrance of the hall where members can drop their voluntary offerings. Sometimes I imagine how they can run their publications and the maintenance of their halls. I don't think there is any better way to explain the true provision of God than that.

In conclusion, I know a lot of Christians see the Jehovah’s Witnesses as a heretic movement or even a demonic one but I don't think so. Instead, I see sincere people who are devoted to God in the way they know best. Whether their doctrine is accurate or not, I just hope God counts the sincerity of their heart and devotion as righteousness.

What is the difference between an Offering and Voluntary Offering? grin Bro, No difference. An Offering is always voluntary. Secondly, regarding tithing. The purpose of tithing is to solve some monetary problem in the church. JW don't take tithe but they take donations or Voluntary offering.

Phones / Re: What Happened After I Bought Nokia 6300 At Wuse Market by Truvelisback(m): 1:46pm On May 18
Flana:
When it comes to purchasing a new phone, we expect it to fulfill all the functions promised in the box. However, a recent encounter with a phone seller left me frustrated and disillusioned. I had been eyeing the Nokia 6300, a classic model known for its durability and simplicity, perfect for those who prefer a reliable phone without all the bells and whistles of modern smartphones.

So, I went to the market and stumbled upon a seller selling the Nokia 6300 at Wuze Market, old Bannex Plaza. Excitedly, I made the purchase, eager to experience the nostalgia of using a beloved classic.

However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment when I realized that the phone I had received was not what I expected. Despite the box claiming that it was a 4G phone with WhatsApp functionality and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, the phone I received lacked these essential features, including the absence of Kai OS.

Feeling cheated and frustrated, I reached out to the seller, only to be met with excuses and denials. It became apparent that I had fallen victim to a scam—a counterfeit Nokia 6300 sold under false pretenses.

Reflecting on this experience, I realized the importance of being vigilant when making purchases, especially when it comes to mobile phones, at Bannex Plaza, either from the shop or along the road. Here are a few lessons I learned that I hope can help others avoid similar pitfalls:

Verify the Features: Before making any purchase, especially of mobile phones, always verify that the product you are buying has all the features you expect. In the case of the Nokia 6300, ensure that it is indeed a 4G phone with WhatsApp functionality, Wi-Fi, and hotspot capabilities. Please take all the time needed to verify those.

Check Before Paying: Don’t be afraid to inspect the product thoroughly before making a payment. Test the functions, ask questions, and ensure everything matches what was promised.

Ask Questions:If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Ask the seller plenty of questions to clarify any doubts you may have about the product.

In conclusion, the seller refused to change it or refund my money. A lot of us love to see change in this country, but no one is ready to do the right thing.
Na Igbo guy sell am for you, yes or yes? grin
