Myst77: It’s better to present a personal bank account statement showing salary received from your registered company or business name (sole proprietor or partnership). Essentially, be paying yourself salary from your company on a monthly basis. Prepare an employer’s intro letter + payslip under your company letterhead and indicate how much salary your company pays to you monthly and your net pay.
Try to strategically separate your personal income from your business income. Get your clients to pay into your business account (or any other type of account if you don’t have a registered company/business name) and maintain a separate personal account for receiving salary payments.
I don’t always recommend presenting company account statement as evidence of an individual’s source of income. A company has an identity of its own and its revenue does not automatically translate to the owner’s income. Only submit your company’s bank statement (plus CAC docs, Tax clearance certificate, letter from bank confirming your company’s statement) if in visa your application, you are presenting your company as a sponsor of your trip OR you want to demonstrate that you have strong ties to Nigeria. For the purpose of sponsorship, your company’s account balance must be more than your travel budget (x2 at least, to be safe) If you or your sponsor is submitting a company’s bank statement, the most important document to attach is a signed or stamped or even both reference letter stating that you or your sponsor is the sole signatory of the bank account of that said company. The company name must be there and tally with the name of the bank statement and the number of years you have been banking with them. It is so important. The bank balance must be large as well as the inflow and outflow almost times two of your travel budget. That reference letter from the bank Carries weight a lot even if you don’t even have a company it is sometimes neccesary to add a reference letter from the bank, it has saved a lot from being denied based forged bank statement or unrealistic bank statement when the statement is actually legit. Then you can attach CAC Docs and other Tax Clearance whatever which might not be neccesary at all. But you can put it if you wish, the more convincing your documents are the more you are likely to be issued the Visa. |

Rachyekong: Hi house, I actually applied for a year study Visa to carry out my doctoral research work and here is a delay, I can't just wrap my head over.
Seeing update of backlog in Pretoria, I am even more scared
Please, can I withdraw my application, and get all the documents again and file a fresh application which will be process here in Nigeria. Well you can but it might take a bit long long, because people who applied in Oct/Nov are yet to receive a response from the consulate. The only solution now is to withdraw your application then reapply again. You might be lucky and get yours within or less than two months because it looks like they treat visa applications randomly. |

Also if you’re not the one sponsoring your visa, is there a need to still attach your bank statement with the sponsor even if there are no sufficient funds in your own personal account ? |

Hi Everyone,
I have a quick question to ask. For those that submitted the sponsors bank statement other than their own and a letter of sponsorship stating they are the sponsor for a type of SA visa here in nigeria. Does the Embassy call these sponsors for verification or not, because I have heard cases whereby they won’t even call and they will just put unverifiable sponsorship as a reason for refusal. |

Someone submitted days like very late November 25th or so, have been issued short term visa already and she’s is already in SA. People that applied before her like in October are still waiting. I don’t even know about long term visas like study and co. |

Anniebam: Please if someone wants to invite me, what does the person need to submit? @tryhard, I will appreciate your WhatsApp number
Also, do I need to upload the resident permit page of the person inviting me? 1. The person has to write a strong convincing letter, why he/she is inviting you and the letter must contain his/her phone number, email address, house address which must be in the same city you are visiting, if your flight reservation says Lagos to CapeTown, The address must be Capetown and not any other place. If it’s in Joburg, your flight reservation say. Then the house address must be in joburg. In the letter don’t put contradicting stuffs in it because they will definitely call your host and ask questions based on what is written in the letter and in your self-introduction letter as well. 2. The person must attach a certified copy of his passport biodata page and the visa legalizing him/her to stay in SA if not a citizen of RSA. If he/she is, the just a certified copy of the Biodata page of his/her SA ID 3. A very recent utility bills ( Electricity/Water) which shows the address written by the host in the letter. It must be clear & certified 4. This last one, I won’t say it is a must, but just to be on a safest side. Attach his 3 months recent bank statement (certified). Normally if the host says he’d cover all cost or he/she is your sponsor that is when you will attach the host bank statement with yours. But this days even if the host isn’t sponsoring and you still don’t attach the host bank statement you will get refused. So to be on the safest side just make sure you attach the bank statement with sufficient funds( Certified true copy) NB: Make sure the documents are clear and not blurry. Make sure no parts of the document is cut out. Have a copy of these documents when you are submitting |

Thanks Tryhard. You’re welcome! Most likely if you don’t get any message about the state of your documents within 48-72hours , you’d most likely get the e-visa, because if they are problems with the document you’d be ask to Re-upload. Fingers crossed, follow up with VFS too. |

Yinksman23: Please how do i escalate the situation at hand? I'm getting worried but i really don't know how to go about it since they don't reply emails. 1. Call or send an email to your school and tell them that your passport is still with the HC for almost a year, that till date you haven’t received a decision and it’s quite worrisome. The university is suppose to liaise with them concerning that. 2. Visit VFS and request you want to see the senior Manager and tell them how important it is. These people have direct contact to the HC. Let them tell you what went wrong. |

Anniebam: I thought the VFS e visa is decided at VFS by VFS . Does that mean if one has already applied for paper application but awaiting response, it isn’t advisable to go ahead with the VFS? Remember two different platforms. Two pathways to visa. You can go ahead with the E-visa even if you’ve applied for the sticker, but if the E-visa clicks, will the HC be fast enough to deliver your passport ? Because I heard it takes minimum of two weeks |

They have stopped intl transaction on the Naira debit card. An idea! Use any domicillary card maybe Euros, pounds, USD. Or if you don’t have it, you can download the chipper app from your respective AppStore and register with your BVN and use the virtual card. Please note you will be charged at black market rate if you are funding your USD virtual card from your naira wallet. And you can fund your Naira wallet from your bank account. Is that clear ? |

Well at least a month to the date of departure make sure you upload all neccesary documents and they must be clear because they contribute to the processing time of the e-visa. For the paper submission when did you submit and did you submit your passport with it ?
Thanks for the prompt response. She submitted on the 16th of November , travel date was 22nd of December. Although she initially submitted on the 9th of September but was denied in November due to Yellow card , funny thing is , she’s being to SA this year twice. She didn’t submit her passport. Twice last year? With that same yellow card ? Hopefully she gets a decision this month. Lagos isn’t doing anything visa at the moment, the whole visa issuance is in Abuja so it’s like times 2 of their workload hence the delay. But they’ve been working on it sha according to them |

doorleemee: My experience with the SA eVISA:
My wife and I applied for the SA Single Entry Visit VISA through the VFS eVISA route, and our applications were rejected. I am still trying to make meaning out of their reasons, though, and I will be glad if experts in the house can assist.
I was the primary applicant, and my wife was the secondary applicant. I submitted my statement of accounts for PoF, which has sufficient funds in Naira and USD for the two of us, and the reasons we got were: 1. Primary Applicant: I should report to the High Commission for the verification of my statement of account 2. Secondary Applicant: The PoF provided was not in the Applicant's name, even though she is not the Primary Applicant/Sponsor.
What I did after the rejection letter: 1. Sent an email to Appeal to VFS and copied all other SA High Commission-related email addresses stating with more than 7 reminders, but there was no single response. 2. Visited High Commission in Victoria Island with the hard copies of my Statement of Account - I met with the Security guards, and I was told that the staff of the SA High Commission has stopped working from the facility for some time. I was told they mostly work from home and sometimes work from VFS. I got an email address of a member of staff of the commission for follow up, and the 'fellow' refused to respond to all my emails. 3. I also visited VFS Lagos with the same documents, since they said I should report with the statement of account for verification and the hostile security guard at the gate did not want to reason with my request to access the compound so I could speak to anyone representing the SA Commission for the said verification. He was screaming at the top of his voice - "we don't verify statements of account, here", na so I turned back to my house ooo, it is not by force to go to SA.
I want to know if anyone has a similar experience and what I could have done as I still do not understand the reasons we got for the rejection. For the secondary applicant, if the secondary applicant not the sponsor, then the sponsor must write a written letter to the high commission stating they are the sponsor or they are sponsoring you on this trip. Attach a bank reference letter, bank statement and the Intl data page of passport and upload on the portal. Also the sponsors email address and phone number must be somewhere on the letter to just for verification because there is nothing these people don’t verify o. |

doorleemee: Thank you for your comment.
My visit to the High Commission was because the reason for the rejection was that "The Applicant should report to the High Commission for Statement Verification". Besides, I reached out to the same VFS via several un-replied emails, and also went there physically, but was turned back from the gate by an unreasonable security guard.
Correcting the lapse as you said, can you advise on what exactly the lapse(s) you think may be the reason for the Visa Officer to say an Applicant should go to the High Commission for Bank Statement verification, and how do you think, this can be addressed using the eVISA route for re-application. 1. Maybe the statement lacks credibility. 2. Maybe some transactions in it were looking false or they suspect some fishy transaction. 3. It could also be the statement was not legible and clear. Reapply using another bank statement not with the one you applied with. Let it have a good inflow & outflow. Let the bank stamp it and if possible they can also sign. Let it have a good closing balance too and this might be extra but it would be nice if you do this “attach a bank reference letter pertaining that account”. Normally the bank statement should have like a phone number on top for verification. I know zenith put on theirs idk about others. |

They don’t allow people to gain access to that high commission at all. You should have contacted the VFS for procedures since they are the middle men to the high commission. You’d call & ask how you should go about it. I don’t know why these HC people don’t respond to mails. It’s so sad! Plus the HC at Lagos don’t do anything visa, it’s the one at Abuja that is currently issuing visas at the moment. Even if you apply at Lagos VFS, they will forward it to Abuja that day using UPS |
