Education / This Dude Built A Guitar Out Of His Dead Uncle’s Skeleton by Trynaija(m): 4:54am On Feb 11, 2021
Prince Midnight has made a guitar out of his dead uncle’s rendered skeleton.
You read that correctly, but if your mind is spinning, I’ll lay it out plainly for you: Prince attached a guitar neck, pickups, volume knobs, a jack, strings and electronics… to an entire skeleton that used to host his uncle’s mortal being.
And he made a functioning guitar out of it all as a way to pay tribute to the man responsible for his love of heavy metal.

Romance / Meet The Mum Who Spent 20 Years And Thousands Of Pounds On Tattoos To Cover Her by Trynaija(m): 12:26am On Jan 19, 2021
Alex Derbyshire, a 38-year-old mother of two kids has stunned people with her love for tattoos.

The woman has spent two decades and thousands of pounds getting tattoos on her body – and she’s inked from head-to-toe.

Alex Derbyshire, 38, has vowed to be completely covered in body art before she turns 40.

She has been obsessed with body modification since childhood and got her first tattoo at 18, which was a subtle Celtic cross on her back.

The barber, who is based in Greater Manchester, recalled: “It took about an hour, which was longer than I was expecting. It was painful, but I got through it.”

Delighted with the result, she soon started thinking about what else she could get.

“I never thought I’d end up as covered as I am now,” she said. “When I first started getting tattoos 20 years ago, they weren’t as common as they are now.

“People could still be a little judgemental about them, so I wanted to get them in places I could easily hide and cover up.”

Over the years she added 16 more here and there, but when she entered her 30s decided she no longer cared what people thought of her.

Foreign Affairs / North Korea Shows Off New Submarine-launched Missiles After Rare Party Congress by Trynaija(m): 8:57am On Jan 15, 2021
North Korea displayed what appeared to be a new submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) at a parade on Thursday night, state media reported, capping more than a week of political meetings with a show of military might.

Clad in a leather coat and fur hat, leader Kim Jong Un smiled and waved as he oversaw the parade in Pyongyang’s Kim Il Sung Square, photos by state media showed.

The parade featured rows of marching soldiers, as well as a range of military hardware including tanks and rocket launchers.

At the end, a number of what analysts said appeared to be new variants of short-range ballistic missiles and SLBMs rolled into the square on trucks.

“The world’s most powerful weapon, submarine-launch ballistic missiles, entered the square one after another, powerfully demonstrating the might of the revolutionary armed forces,” news agency KCNA reported.

North Korea has test-fired several SLBMs from underwater, and analysts say it is seeking to develop an operational submarine to carry the missiles.

Photos released by state media showed the SLBM was labelled Pukguksong-5, potentially marking an upgrade over the Pukguksong-4 that was unveiled at a larger military parade in October.

“The new missile definitely looks longer,” Michael Duitsman, a researcher at the California-based James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), said on Twitter.

Unlike that October parade, Thursday’s event did not showcase North Korea’s largest intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), which are believed to be able to deliver a nuclear warhead to anywhere in the United States.

The parade in itself was not intended to be a provocation but was a worrying sign of Pyongyang’s priorities, said Leif-Eric Easley, a professor at Ewha University in Seoul.

“The economy is severely strained from pandemic border closures, policy mismanagement and international sanctions,” he said. “Despite or perhaps because of this, Kim Jong Un feels the need to devote scarce resources to another political-military display.”

On Wednesday, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of Kim Jong Un and a member of the ruling party’s Central Committee, criticised South Korea’s military for saying it had detected signs of a parade in Pyongyang on Sunday.

North Korean officials have been meeting in Pyongyang for the first party congress since 2016.
