You that your brain box is activated and working.
First of all in all I said what part of proper planning, management and control don't you understand?
What part of subsidy removal worth reconsidering can you not understand?
I emphasized If it can be properly planned.
You are slow to compare yourself with secondary students.
Now that subsidy was removed has they been a decrease in foreign loan obligations?
On the contrary they has been increase in loans this government has collected. Statistics shows it is the highest so far of all past governments. Outdoing loans of previous governments that operated subsidy. Loans no one sees what they are used for.
The major challenge of subsidy was corruption and smuggling of subsidised petroleum products to neighboring countries.
If that is tackled effectively then a major part of the subsidy puzzle is solved.
Nigeria sits on a gold mine of natural resources and opportunities yet is complaining of revenue (generating ) shortages and the only lazy idea tinubu can come up with is increased taxation and foreign loans.
Do you know nigeria is not meeting up with it's quota of barrels for crude production which they only just managed to increase recently- which still is a short fall of its 1.5 million barrels?
Talk about a person living at the bank of a river yet using spittle to wash himself.
There are hundreds of ways any serious government can generate revenue which the present government is sleeping on. Which can cover for subsidy.
The potential of Agriculture alone asides other lucrative prospects is enormous. Where are our cocoa, rubber, groundnut, oil palm farms? At a point in our history these are what sustained our country's economy.
These can provide jobs for many youths today who are unemployed. They are countries even in Africa till today whose economy is run and dependent on agricultural produce like Cocoa. Ivory Coast is an example, so is Ghana whose economies benefit from these produce. And they aren't even maximizing the full potentials yet because what they do is export the raw products rather than refine them to chocolate and other derivatives.
Yet you open mouth wahhh telling me about poor revenue generation and even insulting jabs when Nigeria has all these potential (and you probably comprehended less than 10% of the comment you mentioned.) That's where proper planning and management of both the economy and subsidy comes in.
It's only on nairaland that an empty barrel will call person names while proposing a barren argument.
Even daring me to address your empty points. Imagine that... but I don't blame you.
I blame myself for stooping too low and giving some of you audience here.
::: I warned you not to digress and stick to the topic but you think writing epistle means making sense. I stated the situation this government met, FX backlog, way and mean, upfront sale of crude oil, interest on loan that required immediate attention and you are talking nonsense. How long will it take to develop other resources to the state of it generating revenue? You can address my emphasised point and stop typing rubbish |

GenerationNext: Dangote's refinery can be subsidized. Then the corruption returns as Dangote will increase the quota supply, the government agencies will add their own. Big boys bunkerer will return, fuel will diverted to neighbouring countries, and there won't be enough money to finance it, we increase our debt and the rat race continues |

Let me break it for you. Assuming your asset was 10m before Tinubu came in what will be your asset figure today. If you put a flat for rent @ 200k during GEJ how much will you put it out for rent today. If you were level 08 during GEJ regime, what level are you today? Have you acquired skilled, education or training over the years or you were still stagnated at the level you were during GEJ regime. Pls explain how people have become poorer simply because there are increased in cost of goods.? Racoon: Meanwhile the unimaginable effects of the dubious Tinubu's so called "subsidy is gone" corruption is a staggering economic burden for this nation. Bunch of criminals In other words returning subsidy simply mean Dangote refinery will pack up and Nigeria will lose saved fx used in importation. Reason why many are poor is not because they are not hardworking but it's because they have refused to use their common sense. |

I genuinely struggle to understand how any politician who claims to want a better future for Nigeria can seriously propose returning to a system that cost the country trillions of naira while doing very little to improve our productive capacity.
Since the removal of subsidy how has those trillions you talk about improved the economy and our productive capacity?
What atiku said was he would consider removing fuel subsidy.
What ever atiku says the next thing is to shout corruption whether he makes sense or not. Is Atiku the most corrupt politician or is he more corrupt than tinubu?
I'm not here to defend corruption. Atiku has never been indicted for any corruption case. I don't see people shouting corruption at tinubu who has a shodowy and known drug related cases with the even the FBI. Still he was voted in... even though it's widely alleged how is company alpha beta holds the lagos economy in a choke hold
Subsidy can be beneficial if properly planned and executed with the proceeds channeled into an aspect of the economy that can be beneficial to the Nigerians.
The porous borders through which petroleum products are smuggled to neighboring countries can be better strengthened and monitored to curb those criminal acts if any government is serious enough to block those loopholes.
Subsidy removal definitely is something that can or be should be reconsidered if it can be better managed and effectively planned. I said reconsidered.
What has been the benefits of the subsidy removal so far on the nigerian economy?
It's not by waking up one morning and saying subsidy is gone.
Cut atiku some slack abeg
::: When typing on Nairaland, it is better to activate brainbox. A sound secondary school student should know that fuel subsidy is no longer sustainable and was already on the brink of bankrupting the country. If you were the president when Tinubu came in with barrage of liabilities in foreign loan obligation, backlog of fx to portfolio investors, way and mean of over 20 trillion, poor revenue, upfront sale of future oil, depleted foreign reserves, WHAT EXACTLY WILL YOU DO DIFFERENTLY. Please, address the issue raised here and don't dodge it |
Politics › Re: Can We A North Nigeria And South Nigeria As Independent Countries? by Ttalk: 2:51am On Aug 18 |
The South is sitting on a keg f gun powder and we have failed to realised that culturally the North and the South are anthetical.
In 50 years time if the South didn't change the status quo, the entire South will be over in.
An average SE person marry at the age of 45, an average SW give birth to 2 kids, compared to the northerner who marry many wives at 16 and have more than 10 children.
If democracy still remains the form of government, in 50 years, it will only be the north that can produce the president and Sharia will be spread across Southern Nigeria while they use their growing population to conquer you.
To buttress this point, why is it that herdmen are still grazing in the city despite anti grassing law of different states? This is just a tip of what the South should expect if there's no structural restructuring. |

NaijaHelper1: The war to your doorstep was an offense to play defense strategy. Nobody had the permanent intention to take your land or whatever you're insinuating. It was intended as a route to get to the capital. No way we could get to the capital without crossing the west. The West could have declared neutrality if their intentions were good for the Igbos offering safe passage. How do you intend to take the capital without causing collateral damage to the SW that host the capital? Talking about betrayal, go and read your history, the father of betrayal emanated from the SE. Maybe you didn't know NCNC was formed by a Yoruba man, Herbert Macauley, but what didn't Azikwe did when the baton was passed to him? He came for SW, replacing VC in the SW University with his people, as if that was not enough, he paired with NPC a northern party to form a coalition government using a party formed by a Yoruba man. Ogbeni go and read your history book and get informed |

1) PDP grew our GDP from $59bn to $575bn you don’t think that creates wealth ? 2) PDP reshaped our banking sector to having 25 strong banks you don’t think that creates wealth ? 3) you think Music and Nolly grew by chance ? You don’t know the billions government gave the industry as grant ? 4) we want to talk about the telecom industry ? You don’t think their explosion would have created wealth ?
I can name you 16 industries PDP police and credit facilitation help grow and build wealth
Name one single sector APC has improved
Awon economy build on subsidies like APC didn’t pay more subsidies than PDP I can equally list 40 industries that PDP killed. If you build 16 house but destroyed 40, have you made progress? 16 years of PDP didn't give us power. 16 years of PDP couldn't deliver Lagos Ibadan road, it couldn't deliver Abuja Lokoja road, it couldn't deliver Abuja Kaduna road. Ajaokuta was grounded and it's components were looted. NIPOST that employed millions Nigerians was killed NITEL was killed, all government steel companies were sold as scrap. Nigeria Airway was completely grounded. AsU strike became our pride A course of 4 years lasted 6-8 years because of strike. Political killings became the story Working refineries were paralysed Dollar rose from mere 19 naira to 700 naira at the start of Buhari regime. Calculate the percentage increase before you compare. Fuel scarcity became part of festival ritual. Parent have to withdraw their ward from public to private school. Then comes miracle centres that produces caricatures as graduates. Baby factories sprang up and human parts sales becomes reigning business. Just don't mention PDP as a party that develop the country if you don't want many people that were laid off from employment and the sacked pensioners to swear for you |
