Some people just live life and ignore the lesson that life can teach you, and some people are just retarded. Therefore, wisdom is not gauged by age. Yes, old people have had more time to accumulate knowledge and lived in a time where wisdom was more openly praised and less materialistic. Too bad some people are brainwashed into what the majority believes is true and don't take the time to free their minds and let reason and logic rule their lives, instead of common beliefs. So, the only contributing factor to the wisdom of old folk is time (or the accumulation of knowledge to be exact) If a young person searches within his own thoughts and remembers the lessons life teaches, then that person can be just as wise as any older person.Older people have grown up a certain way, although they've been through a lot more than the younger generation, some of the younger generation know more of what's going on in the present. The older generation and the younger generation have different perspectives on life, as shown in the commonly-used quote: "When I was your age, ____." Older people may know more general stuff about the world, but the younger generation is learning more about the specifics. |

Walking on water is not easy. Not too many people have the ability. Let's see, there's Jesus, and well, that's about it. Unfortunately for one pastor on the West Coast of Africa, his attempt to become the second man to make this impossible feat a reality cost him his life. Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation that he was capable of reenacting the very miracles of Jesus Christ. He decided to make it clear through way of demonstration on Gabon's beach in the capital city of Libreville. Referencing Matthew 14:22-33, Kabele said that he received a revelation which told him that with enough faith he could achieve what Jesus was able to. According to an eyewitness, Kabele took his congregation out to the beach. He told them that he would cross the Kombo estuary by foot, which is normally a 20 minute boat ride. Sadly by the second step into the water Kabele found himself completely submerged. He never returned. This is not the first incident of this nature in Africa. At Ibadan zoo in south-west Nigeria, a self-proclaimed Prophet claimed to be able to do what the Daniel of the bible did by walking into a den full of lions. Though he was warned numerous times by zoo keepers, according to NG Newspapers, the Prophet thought of them as nothing more than enemies of progress. The Prophet, with a crowd of people watching, put on a long red robe and proceeded to enter the cage full of lions. Within seconds of opening the door, the lions ripped the Prophet from flesh to bone. The bible should come with a warning label, "Don't try this at home." |
Thirteen Boko Haram members, who stormed Mubi market in Adamawa State, recently were not too smart in their game as soldiers of the Joint Task Force combatting terrorism in the zone beat them to their game and neutralized the insurgents. The terrorist said to be in their teens, were at the Wednesday Mubi market, where they shot some of the traders and atteempted to make away with their goods. The hoodlums were also said to have attacked some bureau de change operators and robbed them of handsome amounts of foreign currencies They were however, intercepted by soldiers who had been on their trail. The suspect ed terrorists who were armed with sophisticated weapons engaged the soldiers in a shoot-out but suffered a huge loss as the soldiers proved more proficient in the use of guns, and as a result, lost thirteen of their members on the spot. Some soldiers who were injured during the shooting exchange are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. Sources say the Boko Haram group desperately in search of money has been terrorizing some villages at the outskirt of Mubi, where they rob villagers of their monies, foodstuff and other valuables before killing them. The raid by the terrorist group, was said to have forced military authorities in the state to deploy soldiers to the villages who succeeded in killing most of the attackers. They were however said to have fled the villages when they could no longer stand the firing power of the soldiers To effectively curtail the activities of the terrorists group, telephone lines which were restored in the state following the relative peace there, was said to have been cut off for about six weeks and was only restored sometime last week after the killing of the sect members. The bodies of the terrorists were taken to the Federal Medical Center, Yola, while efforts were on to smoke out the remaining terrorists to make the state safe for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. |
Tragedy struck in Umuogwuta, Ndegwu, Owerri West local council area of Imo State, as a lady who was giving her testimony during the New Year service suddenly collapsed and died. A villager, who spoke on ground of anonymity, said: "The Lagos-based lady, Ifeoma Anozie, collapsed and died while giving her testimony inside Saint John's Anglican Church, Ndegwu." It was also gathered that Ifeoma returned to her country home not to only give testimony about her achievements in the passing year, but also felicitate with her kith and kin. "The lady had hardly commenced her testimony when she suddenly slumped and died in front of the officiating cleric and left the congregation completely perplexed," the villager said. Speaking also on the issue, a woman who simply identified herself as Felicia, lamented that what ordinarily should have been a double celebration for the Anozie family suddenly turned sour. "The church service was designed to be a double celebration for the Anozie family. It, however, turned out to be a tragedy for the family, the church and Ndegwu community," Felicia lamented. Other villagers that also spoke to Vanguard, said ifeoma was a very promising young lady but none could guess she would die untimely. The cause of death could not be ascertained as no member of the immediate family could be reached for comments. However, the remains of the lady had been deposited in an undisclosed hospital morgue. |
A video of a naked man riding his motorbike through the streets of Germany – in broad daylight – has become the latest internet sensation. The footage starts innocently enough with a close-up of a sleek black R6 bike. So far, so good. But then the camera pans across to the rider as a ‘Baller Boyz’ sticker is put on his bare chest. Baller Boyz then proceeds to take off his boxer shorts, leaving him stark naked – apart from his boots, gloves and helmet. The mystery rider’s cheeky journey seemed to be the result of a Facebook bet. He had put a photo on the social networking site, saying he would ride naked through Munster’s Christmas market if the picture got 1,000 ‘Likes’. However, not everyone was impressed by his antics, and the police are now investigating the incident. |
Scientist at the Gladstone Institutes have identified the precise chain of molecular events in the human body that drives the death of most of the immune system’s CD4 T cells as an HIV infection leads to AIDS. A typical scene at an emergency ward of a Lagos State government hospital before the protracted doctors strike. Further, they have identified an existing anti- inflammatory drug that in laboratory tests blocks the death of these cells — and now are planning a Phase 2 clinical trial to determine if this drug or a similar drug can prevent HIV-infected people from developing AIDS. Two separate journal articles, published simultaneously in Nature and Science, detail the research from the laboratory of Dr. Warner C. Greene, who directs virology and immunology research at Gladstone, an independent biomedical-research nonprofit. His lab’s Science paper reveals how, during an HIV infection, a protein known as IFI16 senses fragments of HIV DNA in abortively infected immune cells. This triggers the activation of the human enzyme caspase-1 and leads to pyroptosis, a fiery and highly inflammatory form of cell death. As revealed in Nature, this repetitive cycle of abortive infection, cell death, inflammation and recruitment of additional CD4 T cells to the infection “hot zone” ultimately destroys the immune system and causes AIDS. “Gladstone has showed how the body’s own immune response to HIV causes CD4 T cell death via a pathway triggering inflammation, and secondly by identifying the host DNA sensor that detects the viral DNA and triggers this death response,” said Dr. Robert F.
