6 Most important question you need to ask before saying 'Yes' to him.

In my few days of surgeon as a Christian, I have found several ladies agreeing to marry a man or be in a relationship with him for the wrong reasons. Without asking the right questions!

From the title of this thread I will highlight some impt questions I think a lady who has found Jesus as all and in all need to ask before agreeing to his man!

1. Is He Born Again?
This is very basic, infact this is not negotiable! You must be sure of his salvation and he must be sure too! If he is not, there is already a red light: the answer is an absolute 'NO'! I've also found some ladies say 'I will change him'... Hahahaha... This makes me laugh a lot! Cos you don't av the capacity to! The Holy spirit does d changing. Like I will say to some, if you must change him, change him before you say YES, however, ensure he doesn't change you

2. Does he pray?
Friends, a man who doesn't pray doesn't have the capacity to man a christian home. Simple! Int the bible, pray is an instruction not a suggestion!
So not to pray his disobedience. Don't let him bobo you, you must have found him praying.

3. Does he study?
Very simple, you can't grow as a christian without the word, you must be full of the word and pray. Study is reflected in his willingness to teach and talk abt d word! Never get bored teaching or engaging in a bible discourse 2tim2:15, 1pet2:2

4. Does he have a local church and a pastor/mentor
while some of us frown at the decadence in church settings, we cannot over emphasize the impt of a local church: a local church is a place you re trained, feed and instructed! Not to have a consistent local church is pride! He must be serving in a local church and must have an oversight, someone he honor and must be committed! Sometimes its good he's from ur church, not always tho!

First I must admit that this thread was inspired by XtraSmooth404's thread. I seek to give all potential corp members a glimpse of the other side of the coin since the author of the other thread did not dwell on that.

Without further delay, here are some reasons why you shouldn't stay in a family house during NYSC:

1. Privacy
If you are someone who cherishes his/her privacy or if you haven't lived a hostle life before then don't consider staying in a family house. If you are also in a relationship then family house is a no no. If you certainly like others disturbing you during your sleep or reading time and if you like others misusing your stuff, then you have no problem. Go ahead and stay there.
Also, if you don't mind logding your friends or relatives in a hotel or motel when they come visiting and want to stay with you for some time, family house is just for you

2. Food
Your freedom to cook and eat what you want will be limited. Even if the food is bad you will also have to manage it. If you don't mind contributing money to offset family house cooking expenses and then staying away from the food then family house is just for you.

3. Poor Cultural Assimilation
One important essence of NYSC is to get you to undersand and assimilate the culture of the people where your are serving so as to promote unity amongst Nigerians. Staying in family house will deny you, to a large extent, of such opportunity. By residing in a family house, you restrict yourself to interacting, most times, with fellow corp members. Thus you hardly get to mix with and understand the people in your community

4. Security
This is specially for those staying in volatile and violence prone states. Staying in a family house can make you all an easy target for marauders and haters.

Other reasons abound but I have to stop here to do something else. Feel free to add or constructively criticize.

Well you know why you won't understand cos you re probably not a Christian or you are not a serious one! I hope all those you re Trying to mislead will read this!

1. I admit, family house has its disadvantages very numerous! Very very numerous!

2. Its a house for Christian corps members only (if you re not born again, you will find it difficult)

3. It non-denominational/inter-denominational: therefore it has rules to be able to accommodate every denomination (this is what they call hypocrisy)
For instance: don't wear trousers for ladies is to accommodate both deeper life, anglican winners, redeemed.... Also in nccf u go for evangelism and ur host community mit also see trouser as something bad: and u carry the reputation of a christian corper: you preach d gospel in thesame street. That could be an hindrance like Paul taught us 'if eating meat will make my brother to fall I will rather not eat'

3. NCCF is a place where you meet people
During my service year, I stayed in FH, and my roommate is a son of a very very prominent politician in the south south. Another roommate is now in the millitary. in family house I met a lady dat open a door to my business and within a month a had access to over a 100k. My business logo and graphics work was done for free by some in FH. I helped a friend in family house to secure a job with a multinational- she earns over 200k just less dan a year ago

4. If u can leave in family house, you can leave anywhere: it teaches u tolerance, self control long suffering, love patience which is a fruit of the spirit.

5. For many that got born again on campus: family house is a place to keep the fire and fervor in the things of God!

6. I'm currently taking a masters course somewhere in nig: and my papa(state papa) has been here to visit over 5times) we are in dsame state but diff town! He even brought foodstuff for me in december.

7. I met a Dr in family house and wen I had an issue he was just a ping away!

8. Its economical, wen u re broke, you see people to help! U can live in FH without a kobo for a month and survive!

9. The food will not always suit ur taste: then eat out when u can!

Thank God I stayed in FH, I will stay again if I have opportunity to!

President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State locked horns again on Saturday over the use of the Rivers State stadium for a Peoples Democratic Party rally.

The two fell out with each other several months ago leading to the defection of Amaechi from the PDP to the opposition All Progressives Congress. The Rivers governor is also not in good terms with the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, over claims that the President’s wife wanted to control him and the state. Mrs. Jonathan has repeatedly denied this allegation.

On Friday, in an apparent move to counter the refusal by Amaechi to grant the state PDP permission to use the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for the PDP presidential rally armed soldiers took over the stadium.

Jonathan’s presidential rally is billed to hold on Wednesday, January 28.

Amaechi had cited an ongoing construction work on the sporting facility as the reason for turning down the request.

The governor had also maintained that since the stadium was one of the projects his administration was bent on completing before leaving office, it would be unnecessary to stop work on the 40,000 capacity sports complex located in Igwuruta-Ali, Ikwerre Local Government Area due to a political rally.

The soldiers moved into the stadium Friday night and were still within the facility when SUNDAY PUNCH visited the place on Saturday.

The soldiers mounted guard at the two main entrances to the stadium. More soldiers were seen alighting from a Hilux van while others were stationed at different points within the stadium complex.

One of our correspondents gathered that the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Mr. Nyesom Wike, was led to the stadium by a group of security agents, including men of the Department of State Security at about 12: 50pm on Saturday.

Sources said Wike, who is the former Minister of State for Education, was at the stadium to inspect the facility ahead of his party’s presidential rally on Wednesday.

The leadership of the PDP in the state had alerted the police and other security agencies of an alleged threat by Amaechi to mobilise his supporters against the party should it (PDP) insist on holding the President’s rally at the stadium.

Wike had also vowed that the facility would be available for the President’s rally.

Reacting to the occupation of the stadium by soldiers, Amaechi told SUNDAY PUNCH that Jonathan was not prepared for a free and fair election.

The governor, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja on Saturday, said it was unfortunate that the President was preaching one thing but doing another.

He said, “If the President wants free and fair election, why would he use armed soldiers to forcefully take over a state government facility when it has not be given to him or his party to campaign?

“Work is ongoing at the stadium and another one has been given to them to hold the rally. Why must he insist on using the stadium where workers are still working?”

The governor asked Nigerians and the international community to focus on the country and the state in particular, warning that the PDP and Jonathan must be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order during or after the elections.

He appealed to the people of the state and members of his political party, the APC, to remain calm in the face of the “underserved provocation from the President they laboured to put in power.”

Meanwhile, suspected political thugs on Saturday attacked the venue of an APC governorship rally in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The hoodlums reportedly threw explosives into the arena, which was prepared for the campaign of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside.

The equipment for the event was destroyed by persons, who were said to have stormed the National School Field in a white Hiace bus.

Okrika is the home of the wife of President Jonathan, Patience, who was at the governorship rally of the PDP at the same venue on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

Speaking on the attack, the APC Chairman in Okrika, Mr. Christian Asifamaka, said the armed youths began to shoot sporadically at the venue as early as 3:45am.

Asifamaka stated that the thugs later resorted to throwing explosives into the arena, destroying the podium and sound system in the process.

The armed youths, according to the Okrika APC chairman, came from Igbiri community, an area that shares a border with Mrs. Jonathan’s Oba Ama community.

“Those setting up the sound system and the podium were forced to flee for dear lives. At about 4am they started shooting explosives into the arena. The boys came in a white Hiace bus and they are allegedly from Igbiri, a community that shares borders with Mrs. Jonathan’s Oba Ama community,” Asifamaka said in his statement.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Police, Mr. Dan Bature, said a group of unidentified persons attacked the campaign ground with explosive device suspected to be dynamite.

Explaining that no life was lost during the attack, Bature, who spoke with reporters in Port Harcourt, said the Police Bomb Disposal Unit had begun investigation on the matter.

He noted that the attack in Okrika had increased tension in the state ahead of the February 2015 general election

He said, “While the command is determined to discharge its constitutional mandate of protection of lives and property, all political parties are hereby warned to adhere strictly to the Code of Conduct guiding political parties in the state, respect of law and order, and eschew violence in all its ramifications before, during and after the 2015 general elections.

“The command is determined to enforce law and order, provide adequate security for all political parties and ensure that the full wrath of the law is visited on any person or persons, who dare and wish to test our capability.”

The attack on the venue for the APC campaign forced the party to call off its rally slated for Saturday.

A statement signed by Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, the Director of Communication of Greater Together Campaign Organisation, the campaign team of the governorship candidate, stated that the cancellation became necessary as a result of the early Saturday violence against APC members and supporters.

“The APC in Rivers State has called off its governorship campaign rally scheduled for Saturday, in Okrika. Okrika is the birthplace of Mrs. Patience Jonathan, wife of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The APC governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, was expected to unveil his Roadmap to Prosperity, a revolutionary economic blue-print for the massive development of Rivers State, to the Okrika electorate as well as highlight the choice space the area holds in the plan.

“Heavily armed thugs had in the wee hours of the morning besieged the National School Field, Okrika, venue of the APC governorship rally and opened fire,” she said.

Some retired senior military officers have warned against the postponement of the February general elections to avoid military takeover of the administration of the country.

They warned that the postponement might lead to anarchy in the country, which, according to them, may lead to military intervention.

A former Director of Procurement in the Defence Headquarters, Brigadier-General Ayodele Ojo (retd.), in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, described the recent call made by the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, for the general elections to be postponed as a step towards military rule.

According to Ojo, the suggestion by the NSA for the deferment of the polls is capable of creating a constitutional crisis that can abort the nation’s democracy.

On Thursday, Dasuki stated that the postponement of next month’s elections would give the Independent National Electoral Commission more time to distribute over 30 million outstanding Permanent Voter Cards to registered voters.

The NSA said rescheduling the elections would cost INEC and the Federal Government nothing, adding, “It’s still within the law.”

However, Ojo told SUNDAY PUNCH that INEC and the Federal Government should not entertain such a suggestion.

He said, “It is a backward step to the dark days of military rule when anti-democratic forces, on the eve of the June 12, 1993 presidential poll, were able to secure a dubious injunction from an Abuja High Court restricting the National Electoral Commission from conducting the election.

“This singular act was instrumental to the annulment of the election. It is worrisome that the call, this time around, is coming from a highly placed security official of the Nigerian government. Moreover, the reason given for the postponement is untenable, to say the least.”

The former director at the DHQ added that if the call for a postponement was based on allowing would-be voters to collect their PVCs, the Federal Government could consider declaring a public holiday.

Ojo added, “What I think is required is for the Federal Government to declare Friday, February 6, 2015 as a work-free day to enable affected voters the last opportunity to collect their PVCs.

“INEC could also use that weekend before the presidential election as a dress rehearsal. This will require INEC to deploy its entire staff on that Friday and Saturday for the voters to collect their PVCs from the polling units, where they are expected to vote the following Saturday of the presidential election.

“This, I believe, will take care of this problem without resort to postponing the election, thereby creating unnecessary and avoidable crises. This suggestion by the NSA is uncalled for and must be resisted by all Nigerians in order to avoid plunging the country into self-inflicted crisis.”

Another military General who pleaded anonymity told one of our correspondents that INEC should not be stopped from going ahead with next month’s election.

He warned that politicians must be extremely careful not to trigger crisis that they may not be capable of handling.

He said, “I think we have to be very careful in this case. It may be the beginning of untoward things. We have to be extremely careful. Let the elections go on as scheduled. Let us avert any strife that may spring up. The military has taken over in this country before and we have to be careful that it doesn’t happen again.”

Also, a former Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Brig.-Gen. Williams Obene (retd.), warned against heating up the polity with the postponement.

He said, “I think the polity is really fired up; there are so many reactions, interpretations and misunderstandings. And if we say we are a democratic country practising civilian democracy, then we have to work by the rule of law. If that is not done through the constitution, then it can attract anarchy.”

In the same vein, a former Minister for Police Affairs, Maj.-Gen. David Jemibewon (retd.), warned that postponement of the elections could cause confusion in the country.

In an interview with one of our correspondents in Ilorin on Friday, he argued that postponement of elections was unknown to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Jemibewon stated that postponement was unnecessary as, according to him, nobody knows what will happen within the 90 days, if it is postponed.

He said, “I think we are being guided by the constitution of this country. Certainly, there is no provision for postponement of elections. However, if there is an emergency; if there is war; if there is disaster of a wide scale, it may be dictated by circumstances.

“Where do we say we derive the postponement? Is it from the constitution? The National Assembly has not debated it. It is an unnecessary talk.

“You may only consider it if there is an emergency or if there is war. The situation would have dictated it but which situation can we now say has dictated it?

“Do you know what will happen within the 90 days? That means when the 90th day comes, some people will gather again and postpone it for another 30 days or 90 days. What are the criteria for wanting to postpone just for 90 days?”

Similarly, pro-democracy activists have warned against postponement of the elections. The Convener, Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, Mr. Ayo Opadokun, warned that postponement of the elections could be an invitation for a military take-over to defend the constitution of the country.

The former Secretary-General of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, and the National Democratic Coalition urged Nigerians to resist such an idea, saying Nigerians should not give the military an opportunity for takeover again, given the experience of the country.

HER HOMETOWN IS OKRIKA
She hails from Oba-Ama Community in Okrika, a
port town in Rivers State. It is known as a base for
the sale of second-hand clothes, and the name
Okrika for those of us very familiar with ‘Bend
Down Select’ and ‘Tokunbo’ clothes is an
attestation to that.
HER CHARITABLE WORKS
Like others before her, she also has a non-
governmental organization, named the A. Aruera
Reachout Foundation and is said to focus on the
needy, the poor and the destitute, with particular
emphasis on women and children. According to
the Foundation, it has trained over 2,000 women
in the last eight years. Some of the things her
Foundation also did was to foot the N1.8 million
naira bill for an operation in India for a girl with a
hole in the heart (septal defect) and Jubril
Mohammed Hussein, a 9-year-old boy who was
also flown out for treatment for his heart disease.
Zainab Musa Garba, a twin, was diagnosed with a
heart condition and needed N3 million naira for
treatment, the Dame also footed her bills.
Zainab’s mother teaches at the Federal
Government College, Maiduguri while the dad is a
retired civil servant. That’s a good one or what do
you think? Same goes for Tobi Peters, an 11-year-
old boy, three-month-old Peculiar Owodu and
others (now over 30 kids).
HER FIGHT WITH TURAI YAR’ADUA OVER LAND
In January 2013, she was engaged in a tussle with
the former First Lady, Turai Yar’adua over a plot
of land in the Federal Capital Territory. They
dragged themselves to court and treated the
nation to an exciting drama.

Nigeria’s first and only Nobel Laureate, Professor
Wole Akinwande Soyinka has on several occasions

nine operations within one month. It was not an
easy one.
“The day I came back, I said God I have nothing to
say, I offer myself to you. I will be doing things
that will touch the lives of the less privileged.

In February 2013, at a reception/thanksgiving in
her honour, she stated that while away in
Germany for medical treatment, she was
operated upon nine times in one month and it
was a miracle that she survived and likened her
case to that of Lazarus in the Bible.
SHE WAS ONCE CALLED ‘MAMA ICE CREAM’
According to Baridah Job Karabah, a former
houseboy, her nickname back in the days was
‘Mama Ice Cream’ (and that of the President was

distributed for sale. He says business was

mummy. When a woman attains such level,
everybody calls her mummy. It is a form of
respect to her. But to me, my mummy (Patience
Jonathan) is special because she brought me up
to this level.

In a nation of over 170 million people, you will do
