0lumide: Ask a resident of ekiti. I was born and bred in lagos. I served in Bayelsa. I got a job in lagos, worked for number of years before I got a bank job that took me to Onitsha. The last I went to Ado ekiti was like 5yrs back just to pick up LGA clearance. Since then haven't been there. That was it! |

goodslayer: We are saying the same thing. osogbo is a massive slum filled to the brim with shrines. Is that supposed to be dividend of democracy. I was even talking about my state ekiti, i do not know that osun is worse off. Our problem is that most yorubas left for for lagos and left there respective states to rot with mud houses. 1 Like |

ebankole: Ekiti has one of the best road in Nigeria more like ondo state. Good roads? Am from ekiti, so those track roads are what you call best? That is why my people need to travel to other regions. Am Ido ile ekiti, but I must confess that I was ashamed to be from ekiti the last time I went to ado ekiti. It is not different if not worse than what I have seen in ibadan. |

Am digging up some pictures of osogbo and ibadan now. I shame of una now and here. Our people are so backward. |

goodslayer: You have talked so much about osogbo. Let me tell you my younger sister did her masters at Ife. I use to visiter there. Osogbo is not even fit in what should be called a town not to talk being a capital. The town is so dirty, muddy with mud house at every corner of the town. The town in my simple explanation is worse than sh1thole. 1 Like |

goodslayer: Post the pictures of the new ibadan, osogbo, ogbomoso etc. I have handful of pictures from my state ekiti, it is enough to trigger 2nd civil war. So muc under development and am sure that is how the so called ibadan is, as for osogbo is it a complete shanty, ghetto and rural state capital. |

Not every yoruba reasons in with bias like some of you here. I will keep hammering on this bitter truth. If that will change the mentality of my people so be it. 1 Like |

delors: Is this not one Nigeria anymore. Why will we support evil. Ibos here are treating me well so I expect my people to treat them well too. Ibos are in every part of Nigeria and world. Btw apart from lagos, you hardly spot an iboman elsewhere in SW. Again the only way we get get better is by telling ourselves the truth and not coming here to sell lies. Yorubaland cannot develop when people are already feeling that we have arrived whereas we are nowhere. I was reasoning like some of you until I crossed the river niger and did my on the spot comaparison and realised that we need to buckle up if we don't want to remain behind like the north. I will keep shouting it from the roof top the east is far more developed than SW. Remove lagos from SW then yorubaland becomes nothing less than what we have in the north |

Princetammy: Am yoruba full blooded. Is what you mean by civilization the mud houses dotting the entire landscape of yorubaland? Let the truth be told. Remove lagos from SW, then yorubaland becomes leprous, nobody will not have anything to associate with because it will only epitomize poverty and plague. The only reason people comes to SW is because of lagos, we all know that lagos is not the making of yorubas. Let me tell you, a typical yoruba city like ibadan, abeokuta, ado ekiti, osogbo is so so backward, poverty stricken, no investment, no job. Am sorry I have to say this truth. All these yoruba cities I mentioned cannot stand side by side with places as Onitsha, Enugu, Owerri, Calabar, Akwaibo even Yenogoa. My problem is that we yorubas are always okay with little the government and individuals have done, that is why no new thing is coming except for the mud houses built 50yrs ago. |
Politics / Re: Lagos Reunites 46 With Their Relations In Osun by Tundeolaniyi: 8:09pm On Aug 08, 2013 |
[s] goodslayer:[/s] usual my yoruba chestbeating. Own up to this reality, we are still backward and poor when compare to an average iboman. Did you see any mud house in Onitsha? But in Ibadan it is uncountable even in the major roads in ibadan are dotted with 1000s of mud houses. We are not even talking about a place like Osogbo, Abeokuta and even my state capital Ado-Ekiti that one it remain small make they build the govt house with mud. I didn't know this fact until I travel to other regions and iboland. So my only advice to you is to leave Ibadan and go see other regions. Travel...travel, you are blinded with what you see in yoruba as ideal. When you go to other regions you will be better informed to argue without bias. |

My parents are in Lagos, so nothing takes me to ekiti except when I went to my LGA for clearance that's 5yrs back. I will not be part of this hatred and bitterness. Italiano1: I have been working in UBA-Onitsha for the past three years. All my friend are 60% ibos. I just came back from Enugu-Ukwu near Awka for a traditional marriage of a colleague. I can tell that this is one town that paved from the begininnig to the end, I mean all the roads in the town are paved, with their country home dotting the landscaping. It is a beautiful town. People from Anambra should confirm this here and now. The town can pass for a state capital in SW like Ado-Ekiti. |

goodslayer: If you must be sincere to yourself instead of this chestbeating mentality, you will understand that we are still behind in term of wealth development, environmental and physical improvement when we are compared side by side with SE. Opoko is the only slum in Onitsha and its quite minimal compare to what I have seen in Ibadan and Lagos. Awada and Fegge is a built up residential neighborhood, there is no such residential area in entire SW that comes close in term of advancement except some parts of Surulere in lagos. |

goodslayer: You call Awada slum. this one has exposed your bias. Let me tell you I live at Oraifite street Awada. With all those mansions, is that what you call slum. Maybe I do not know the meaning of slum anymore. I keep saying it, until we yorubas start traveling we will remain backward just as can be seen in our so called cities with mud houses and shanties. |

goodslayer: Am from ldo-lle Ekiti state. You can't even compare my town in Ekiti with the most interior place here not to talk of semi urban towns as Ekulubia, Oba, Obosi etc. But you can agree with me that lagos slum is like 10x what you see here if any because am yet to see any, except a place they call 'Opoko' which quite small though. |

goodslayer: That is why I said that an average omoluabi need to be traveling. Until I got to the east I thought its only lagos that is the place. East is not what we see on the internet, come here and you will respect the ibos. They are using our land as a commercial battlefield. They are really wise. An average ibo is not poor like an average Yoruba. I have come here and seen it. Am not here to argue blindly. |

0monnakoda: I really don't think many Ibos understand how much this issue has provoked the Yoruba. Basically many Yorubas now believe the Ibo are telling us we are prepared to contend Lagos with you and you cannot do anything about it. The consequences will be devastating . I wonder why these guys like to score own goals? Stop the muscle flexing. I still condemn ibos that take tot he street to protest. I for one will not fold my arms and watch them disturb the peace of omoluabi. As for your threat stop is! because when the fulanis killed Abiola and Kudirat our people did not raise a finger nor eyebrow. Recently we yoruba led the killer of Kudirat out of chain and declared that he unjustly detained for 13yrs. Ibos are not our problem but we are the problem. What Fashola did is very much condemnable. 1 Like |

CyberG: Am yoruba from Ekiti, but I will disagree with you on the this. Anambra economy is about 10x bigger than that of Ekiti. Apart from federal allocation there is basically nothing happening in my home state of Ekiti. I was ashamed of being yoruba the last I visited home. I think is high time our people start traveling out to other parts of the country to learn few things. I have been working in Onitsha- UBA for the past 3years, the type of money that flows through our bank alone can only be compared to what I have seen during my years in lagos. Even the way we build houses has to change. All our education has to be translated into our environment if yorubaland will develop. Apart from lagos(which is not the making of we yorubas) am yet to see any other omoluabi state that can compete with an average SE state, like Anambra and Enugu states even Abia despite the bad leader of Orji: in terms of wealth creation, development and other major indices of development. This much talked about paper 'GDP' in yorubaland is not reflecting an average omoluabi. 4 Likes |
