Is this the reason for the info?

if he gets the APC ticket, it will definitely sway the Ibos to firmly embrace APC. they way Ibos treat APC now is so disgusting. they call it all sorts of name, yoruba party, islamic party, terrorist party etc. that explains largely why ngige failed in Anambra.

Politics / Governor Okorocha To Run For President In 2015 by Tundeolaniyi: 12:55pm On Jan 09, 2014
Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, in a press release has made public he's intention that he is considering running for President in 2015.
According to the press release:

Against the backdrop of SunNews' report, the Imo State government wishes to put the record straight with regard to the ambition of the Imo State Governor in 2015.
And to also correct the impression that the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is in the race for the Vice-Presidential slot of the APC, as the Daily Sun caption had suggested.

The truth of the matter is that Governor Okorocha is not in the VP race in APC.
There has been unprecedented pressure on the governor by Nigerians from all walks of life to vie for the Presidency and he has been consulting on that.

His consultations have not been on the VP slot but on the presidency and at the end of the consultations, he would decide whether to throw his hat into the ring for the presidential race or not.
The pressure is also on the Imo governor by well meaning citizens of Imo State, including the artisans, farmers, traders, students, etal in the state to ensure the completion of the transformation he has begun in the state by seeking re-election in 2015.

And the governor is also yet to decide on that.
However, it is also good that the stakeholders said to have met according to the Daily Sun story where the name of the governor was mentioned for the VP race must have seen the qualities in him and what his administration has been doing in Imo that made them to consider him for the VP position.

While we appreciate that, the fact remains that Governor Okorocha is not in the race for VP for 2015. However, everything depends on God who gives power.

THE ANAMBRA VOTER HAS DECIDED ON WHO TO VOTE FOR--- EASTERN PILOT REPORT

Ndi iro anyi agaghi achi anyi; is the slogan defining the possible but assured out come of today’s Anambra governorship election which is inadvertently pitched between the top two contenders to the Awka government house, Chief Willie Obiano of Ojukwu’s All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Alhaji Ahmed Ngige of Tinubu/Buhari’s All P-Retrogressives Congress (APC) .

A pip into to the likely voting pattern shows that N
di-Anambra has long settled on who they will elect today to oversee their political affairs for the next four or more years.
The candidate of the All P-Retrogressive Congress, Alhaji Ahmed Ngige has continued to receive backlash owing to the realization by the Anambra voters that a vote for his party, APC, is suicidal. Recalling the incident in Onitsha, the commercial nerve center of West-Africa, when Alhaji Ahmed Ngige and his entourage were pelted with sachets of pure water which ominously translates to repulsion of himself, his party, APC and the anti-Igbo massage they came with.

The Anambra voter has long jettisoned money politics and innuendo gibberish-ranting oozing from the megaphones of their adversaries against their very own. They have come to know who introduced kidnaping and gangsterism in the state. They have also come to know those who romance with their ruthless assailants either in the open or in the secret. They will make no mistake in voting such “sabo” into political oblivion.

The Anambra voter knows he that abandoned all ease and embraced pain for their sake; The Anambra voter knows he that impoverished himself to buy their protection. The Anambra voter knows he that walked every battle front to assure their welfare. The Anambra voter knows he that stood when every others crunched. The Anambra voter knows he that endured 13 years of bitter exile. The Anambra voter knows he that endured 10 months of maximum security prison. The Anambra voter knows he that embraced priestly poverty for their sake. The Anambra voter knows he that continued to struggle for their survival till he breathed his last.
The Anambra voter can not afford to let ammuma na egbe igwe (lightening and thunder) Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu down. APGA is his pride and political bulwark to the betterment of Ndigbo. And so far APGA has not disappointed, Mr. Peter Obi has kept the flame burning with his scintillating purpose driven and result oriented administration.
With the 3C strategy? That is, to Continue, Complete and Commission (3Cs) all ongoing projects across various sectors in the State by Chief Willie Obiano, Anambra’s set time has indeed come.

Chief Willie Obiano a bridge builder. A banker extra ordinary, a recipient of many awards and honours extolling his roof-top pedigree, Anambra is sure to remain on safe hands. The support for Obiano is electrifying, it is incredible. Himself is stunned: “Umu nnam, I cannot thank you enough for the massive support I am receiving from you all! The massive crowd at All Saints Cathedral Ontisha was jaw dropping! Thank you for this massive vote of confidence. Let's continue this forward movement... Let's be candid, it takes more than average to move Anambra forward and I've got what it takes.......thank you all for your massive support!,” who wouldn’t be appreciative of such overwhelming support and solidarity everywhere he goes.

It was no surprise when all the major markets in Lagos closed shop to receive him and his All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign train which was led by Governor Peter Obi and Chief Victor Umeh, who introduced him and his running mate, Dr. Nkem Okeke to the traders.
Speaking at different markets visited- Electrical Market, Alaba; Electronics Market, Alaba; Trade fare Market, Mile Two, ASPAMDA and Ladipo Markets – the leaders of the markets were united in saying that APGA is the party all Igbo sons and daughters should vote for as representing a unique identity for the Igbo. They also agreed that it was necessary for the Igbo to have a central body they would call theirs and would unabashedly represent their interests and aspirations.
They also commended the good work Governor Obi was doing in Anambra State and said that continuity of APGA government was a responsibility of every true Igbo man.

They were also united in condemning the deportation of 76 Igbo from Lagos and commended the APGA government, led by Governor Peter Obi for challenging the deportation, which has guaranteed that no Nigerian would henceforth be deported from his own country. “If not for what Governor Peter Obi did when the deportation war was on, it would have been bad for you and I. Dr. Chris Ngige said those deported were mad men and if Obi did not shout, one day they will deport you and I and also call us mad men,” Mr. Chijioke Okenwa, the leader of Electronics Dealers Association of Nigeria, said. Though they commended Governor Raji Fashola for apologising, they expressed surprise that Dr. Chris Ngige was still justifying the dastardly act.

In his speeches at the various markets visited, the Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh said the campaign train was overwhelmed with joy at the massive reception accorded them. He urged the people of Anambra State to vote in Dr . Willie Obiano and Dr Nkem Okeke as true representatives of the people, chosen by the people and from among them. Umeh said APGA carefully chose the candidates based on their academic and experiential pedigree.

While speaking to traders at various markets, Governor Obi, who introduced himself as one of them, called for vigilance and said they should not allow outsiders to dictate to Igbo who would govern them. He wondered what the position of non-APGA government, would have been over an issue such as deportation.
“ You all saw the position of Dr. Chris Ngige, who, in order not to annoy his masters supported deportation and even went on air to defend it, insisting that those deported were mad men. Imagine, calling our brothers and sisters mad men because he does not want to go contrary to his APC masters,” Obi said.

Politics / APC Ravaging Imo State With Massive Debts by Tundeolaniyi: 8:12am On Nov 02, 2013
Owerri – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo has accused Gov. Rochas Okorocha of mortgaging the state through loans collected from banks.

The chairman of the party in the state, Chief Eze Duruiheoma, made the accusation on Friday at a news conference.

Duruiheoma said the governor had collected N47 billion from a bank and diverted it to an unknown account.

okorochaHe also said the governor had taken an additional N15 billion loan from the same bank through the help of sole administrators of local governments.

The chairman called on the governor to let the public know the exact amount the state owed banks and other creditors.

He also accused the governor of awarding contracts without regard to due process, describing it as “another attempt to fleece the state treasury.”

The chairman condemned the sack of local government officials by the governor, saying the local government system had lost more than N100 billion as a result.

He also decried the outsourcing of artisan jobs to foreigners by the governor, citing the importation of school uniforms from China, which he said could have been carried out by local tailors.

“It is on record that this governor has outsourced to his international partners such artisan jobs as tailoring, bricklaying and carpentry thereby starving this crucial segment of the economy of funds.

“Local artisans would have greatly benefited from these jobs he insists on outsourcing to artisans from China and Lebanon. ”

He lamented that the governor was in the habit of abandoning projects initiated by his predecessor and also complained about the poor quality of the projects carried out by him.

“Abandoned projects litter the streets of Owerri and local government areas; the few completed ones awarded to non-professionals were done with little respect to quality.

“The consequences are that the roads so poorly constructed have gone bad in less than six months of completion.”

Reacting to the allegations, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the governor, Mr Sam Onwuamaodo, said the governor never took any loan from any bank.

Onwuamaodo said the governor had challenged politicians in the state to show proof that he obtained any loan from any bank. (NAN)

WHY do you like courting controversy and cheap popularity all the time? Does it mean there will be no governance in ImoState without causing confusion to attract attention?

Why creating and engaging in unwarranted political gimmick which was also evident when you were Senior Special Adviser to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Inter Party Relation, where you were fingered in the controversy involving then Chief Don Etiebet-led national leadership of the now defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, that destabilized the party.

These germane questions are meant for the executive governor of ImoState, Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha as he stirred another controversy in the commercial city of Aba recently on his alleged botched plan to secretly launch his Rescue Mission Programme and All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. The choice of the venue of the botched event which was Abia State Polytechnic Aba, without informing or getting the permission of the Abia State Government raised questions and suspicions about the real motive of the organisers.

But reacting to the development, Okorocha’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Chinedu Offor, had denied that the event was a political one.

According him: “The Rescue Missionaries had a convention in Aba and decided to use the occasion to honour His Excellency on his birthday. They are a group of missionaries from the South East and South-South zones. They got police permit, paid for the venue and had their receipt. His Excellency was getting ready to go and honour their call when we heard that the powers that be had ordered the event cancelled. Somebody is to trying to be funny by cancelling the event.

“They should be careful when they are dealing with God. It had nothing to do with APC. I wondered why political meaning is being read to a purely religious event. Did you see the APC flag? Did you hear the presence of any APC governor? If the APC wanted to do a rally, it would have been an open affair. There is no politics in the event and nobody has told us why it was cancelled.”

But dismissing Offor’s claims as laughable, Chief Press Secretary to Abia State governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, alleged that Okorocha planned to use the occasion to launch his pet project called Imo Rescue Mission without permission from the school authorities.

Emezue wondered why the Imo State government would want to sneak into Abia to hold such a programme without observing laid down procedure. He warned Okorocha to restrict his Rescue Mission programme activities to Imo State, stressing that Gov. Theodore Orji would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the hard-earned security in Abia State is not compromised from any quarter.

In the face of all these claims and counter-claims by both state governments on the botched event, Okorocha as the executive governor of a state ought to have known what protocol demands in such situation.

Why should he decide to leave his fellow governor of a sister state in the dark over the arrangement of his alleged birthday event in the state if his intentions and that of the organisers were clear and non-political as claimed by his Chief of Staff? Ordinarily if Okorocha is on a private visit to a friend’s house in Aba to celebrate his birthday or do other things privately, nobody has right to stop him, not even the security agents because he has constitutional right to association and movement.

But when it has to do with political gathering of any sort, there is need for permission and notification from apropriate authorities in the host state. Every Nigerian is aware of the security challenges in Aba before the state government tackled it headlong and brought it under control.

The city is very sensitive for a sitting governor to sneak into the place for an event being organised in his honour without informing his fellow state governor in-charge of the state. It is expected of Okorocha to alert or reach out to governor Orji ahead of the event or even invite him to celebrate with him. If time was against Okorocha, he would have reach Governor Orji through his mobile number or at worst direct the organizers to send invitation card to the state government.

Questions should also be asked on how the organizers hide under the religious banner to secure the Abia State Polytechnic Aba, a state-owned institution as the venue of the event, only to turn around dying minute to make the event a political gathering. This also raises question on the integrity and sincerity of the acclaimed men of God who happened to be the organizers of the event on behalf of Okorocha.

In the country today, we are all aware that everything and anything is possible under religious cover, that is why every right thinking person and responsible government must be very careful, wary and cautious of the questionable activities of the acclaimed men of God, who are deploying religious tools to destabilize our society for pecuniary and selfish interest.

Besides, as two sitting governors sister states sharing common boundary, it is expected that there should be proper channels of communication between the duo to avoid this kind of the ugly development. This was apart from the normal channels of communication among their aides. I wonder why Okorocha has always refused to make use of such window of opportunities to do things right and proper since he assumed office as the governor of the state. Before his coming into office in 2011, the relationship between Imo and Abia state was very cordial and mutual. But everything sudden changed with Okorocha’s grandstanding leadership style. That is why he often likes making mountain out of molehill in every situation to gain cheap political popularity.

Nobody is against and should be against his style of leadership in as much as such recognizes and is in line with the laid procedures of doing things in government circle. But in a situation where such style is affecting or disrupting official protocol, Okorocha and his aides must be call to order. And that was the Abia State Polytechnic authority have done by cancelling the event. Okorocha's alleged birthday ceremony is not more important than the security of the state.

The recent episode in Aba involving Okorocha had once again reminds one of Okorocha’s abrupt and immediate closure of Abia Line Transport Company motor park in Owerri some months ago which caused row between the two state governments and inflicted untold hardship on the commuters using the transport company.

It took the timely intervention and pragmatic leadership approach of Governor Orji who upon his return from oversea trip to resolve the matter in the interest of peaceful co-existence of the two sister states, taking into cognizance that two people cannot be mad at the same time. Not quite long, Governor Okorocha signed abortion bill into law in the state without due consultation with relevant stakeholders.

A development which pitched him against the clergymen in the state, before he made u-turn to repeal the law and apologise to them. Governor Okorocha, we all know cannot and will not accept such disrespectful treatment he meted to Abia State Governor Theodore Orji from any fellow state governor talkless of ordinary mortals like us. Leaders must learn how to lead by example and accord respect to the exalted office they are occupying.

Constitutionally, the state governor is the Chief Security Officer of the state and should be in the knowhow of any gathering or event that may pose security threat for the state. The governor also has the right to put a halt to such gathering, if security report at his disposal shows otherwise. Okorocha should learn how to align himself with his fellow governors especially those from Southeast zone for economic and political development of the zone and the country in general.

He cannot do it alone and should not behave as if knows more than any of his colleagues. He must learn to be a team player, and avoid issues that will always stir controversy for his government, and paint him and his government in a bad light. Okorocha should always remember the words of Former American President, Abraham Lincoln that character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

Politics / Okorocha Loosing Support Over Worries Of Poverty In Imo State by Tundeolaniyi: 6:09pm On Oct 23, 2013
WE have heard that the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has named new commissioners, and therefore the state Executive Council, Exco, is on the verge of returning fully as known to law.

This set should be a thinking and doing group which the governor allows space to bring forward and contribute new ideas that help the government take a systematic and holistic approach.

Obvious challenges confronting the ImoState government now include identifying her current project exposure, aligning that to available resources, embarking on strategic planning and realistically implementing, with a critical target delivery date of June 2014.

The government must change style otherwise election 2015 will be a shocker. The government is fast losing the middle class in ImoState. The class is lost slowly, but also slow to gain. Who are government contractors? Zonal and other discrimination charges are simmering.

Flagship education, roads, infrastructure, and other projects have become some of the areas considered areas of weaknesses. Planning is no longer optional as tikitaka style has to change. Spanish tikitaka approach to football requires effective strikers, something obviously lacking in team Rochas. There is neither Ronaldo nor Messi in the team.

Strong in the mid-field where captain/trainer/coach/technical adviser Rochas plays, very few goals have been scored compared to high percentage ball possession. Higher ball possession does not win matches.

Two German teams in UEFA championship final both emerged by beating Spanish flagship teams, and Brazil beating Spain in the Confederation cup shows that tikitaka is vulnerable with planning, and comparable fans-cheering skills.

The Rochas government has had the rare luck of a clueless opposition, especially the PDP. The Governor has had a rare total control of the Imo polity, deciding what, how, and when to do what he chooses. That luck increasingly needs rigorous thinking, planning, and work, as the PDP congress next year will bring change to the political environment in ImoState.

Even ahead of that, the Anambra election of November 16, which has been cast locally as a Rochas project, may be wrong strategy, as the indicators are pointing elsewhere, most probably in the direction of APGA, and may alter the political temperament in ImoState. These are related political challenges.

Among the Imo middle class in which government is losing support fastest are worries of poverty, and declining wellbeing. They raise questions about how Imo money is spent, who gets contracts for school buildings, uniforms, etc.

Shouldn’t these be people in Imo, they ask. People associate this to electing persons not resident in Imo, and are saying we have to elect Imo residents next time. Is the tertiary level scholarship only for one year? they also ask. Also 27 new hospitals suffer poor funding, even when not needed in the first instance.

Road projects show evidence of over-trading, with many contractors disillusioned. Wastes in earthworks, bitumen, MC1, etc., are mentioned, with worsened conditions of many roads abandoned at various stages.

The completed ones are failing. Location of the roads and school buildings are subject to sundry anti-government interpretations. Government seem not conscious of the voting trend in a highly competitive election as in 2011 and most likely in 2015.

The silence of critical opinion leaders in Imo State, including the clergy, academia, journalists, et al., should no longer be taken for granted as this attitude was informed by a ‘let’s give him a chance’ resolve, especially against the background of the particularly difficult preceding four years.

This concession to Rochas was informed by a belief of his good intention. But good intention is not enough. Every political office holder running for re-election, as Rochas will in 2015 despite what he says about seeking the Presidency, will be assessed by his performance.

Election 2015 in ImoState will be based on Rochas performance. Rochas cabinet must therefore help him. No one knows it all.

Positive about the new cabinet is wisdom in reappointing some of those perceived to have suffered for the Governor. If that was not done would have convinced his appointees that he is not worth sticking out your neck for. Bravo. The people Rochas has chosen to work with him, especially those who were not unemployed, therefore owe him the duty of sincerity and boldness, and tell him the truth.

They should listen to Imo people and work for Imo people, and not wring their fingers in helplessness, and resignation that he seems to know everything, and wouldn’t listen to them, and not let Exco meetings degenerate to instruction classes with a teacher who brooks no questions, or a Maradona and ten nameless others. This was the case with the gang of 2007 to 2011.

We know where that left them and ImoState. This set needs to learn from the Mbakwe Exco, peopled by informed and confident persons, most of whom were capable of being Governor. Anyone of the present set on request can have a free copy of my book The Glorious Mbakwe Era. Ta bu gbuo.

You don't have a point when you say that people who came does not last. If not all these big men here in GRA, Omagba, Housing estates with their families and relations who came back for long vac from UK. My cousin visited me last month from Germany and he spent over a month in my house here in Omagba estate. He goes to stadium every morning for jogging all thru his stay here. He told me he never knew Onitsha was this serene and organized more especially GRA, Federal Housing, Awka road, Omagba etc..

There is no economic city without security challenge. People are murdered and shot anyhow in Lagos. Major cities as Lagos, PH, Onitsha, Kano etc should have more layer of security due to heavy flow of capital in them.

I work in an Insurance company along Awka road. I will leave office in the next two hours for marketing, I can meet you up at my office or anywhere around GRA, that is if you are truly here or you are making it up to look real. Onitsha am seeing now is alot neat with infrastructure. I was in Awada over the last weekend, I was amazed seeing Oraifite, Ezeiweka and some other streets am not able to spell shinning with good roads. Am a Yoruba man but an unbiased one.

Meanwhile, the pictures you posted so far does not mean the governors of those states are not working. Rather it means that those areas have not been covered.
