The BBA Season 8 auditions start in Lagos this week, this was announced by the organizers of the annual Big Brother Africa Reality TV show. Auditions of the shortlisted candidates in Nigeria will be in Protea Hotel Leadway, Lagos, by Monday, March 11 through to Thursday 14th March 2013.

He was reported to have been shot at 15 times but he and his girl escaped unhurt. Funny enough, fellow rapper and rival, 50 cent made fun of rick claiming the whole scenario was staged.

A 32-year old Nigerian pastor, Kehinde Boluwaji, has landed himself in trouble for allegedly dipping his fingers and pouring salt inside a woman’s private part under the false pretence of carrying out deliverance on her.

Boluwaji, who hails from Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, reportedly lied to the victim, 22-year old Busola Adebayo that she was possessed of a strange spirit that will cause her untimely death if she was not delivered.

He also told Busola that the bad dreams she always had will not allow her to get a husband and when she eventually gets married, she will not get pregnant and have children.

He told her the deliverance will start from her private part to other parts of her body.

Boluwaji then invited and locked her in his one room apartment at 7, Arounmalase street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos for ‘prayer and deliverance’.

According to the victim, “he ordered me to remove my dress and pant and sit on a floor and spread my legs wide open while he was busy muttering and pretending he was praying.

“He brought out a white handkerchief and salt and first ordered me to pour it inside my private part and later joined me in doing so. He started fingering me, pretending that he was praying. He used the handkerchief and cleaned it and took it away.”

On why she did not raise an alarm, Busola said she was overwhelmed by the prophecy he told her. She was later rescued by the victim’s friend who saw her when she entered the pastor’s room and raised an alarm.
This forced the pastor to open the door and by then she was still nude.

The neighbours descended on the pastor and battered him before the police at Ijeshatedo division rescued and took him to the station.

He was charged to a Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of conduct likely to cause the breach of public peace contrary to Sections 166 and 348 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

Part of the charge reads: “That you pastor Kehinde Boluwaji on the same date, time and place did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace by asking the victim to use salt to wash her private part.”

He pleaded not guilty.

The trial magistrate, D. T. Olatokun granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody because nobody showed up to perfect his bail.

The matter was adjourned till 11 Febuary, 2012.

BACKGROUND / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Africa Region is committed to working with Africans and their development partners to make faster progress toward the MDGs, particularly cutting poverty levels in half by 2015. With a wide-ranging work program that covers the environment, agriculture and rural development, social and post conflict, water, urban, energy, and transport sectors, the Region’s Sustainable Development (SD) Department is critical to the delivery of the region’s goals for sustainable development in the region. The department has 320 staff and an overall portfolio (including IDA/IBRD, GU, large RE TF, and GEF) of about 250 projects with net commitments totalling about $30 bn.
The Africa Agriculture Program has been growing rapidly and is centred around four pillars, including: (i) land and water management; (ii) market access; (iii) food security and vulnerability; and (iv) agricultural technology. There is active collaboration with PSD and IFC to facilitate private sector investments in African agriculture. Nutrition and resilience to climate change are new areas of attention. The agriculture portfolio comprises of about 65 projects with net commitments exceeding US$ 4 billion. New lending is expected to exceed US$ 1 billion annually in the coming years.
The Africa agriculture sector grouping consists of three units (AFTA1 for West-Africa, AFTA2 for Central and Southern Africa and AFTA 3 for Eastern Africa). Each of the three units is managed by a Sector Manager. Each Sector Manager is also responsible for a number of relevant cross-cutting themes. The three units together have about 90 staffs of which 60% are based in country offices.
The Government of Nigeria, which came to office in 2011, has launched a major Agricultural Transformation Agenda which combines needed policy and institutional reforms with key public investments aimed at connecting markets and supporting the expansion of the private sector and productivity growth in prioritized value chains. To support implementation of this Agenda, as requested by the Government, the Bank is scaling-up its already substantive engagement in Nigerian agriculture even further. The current portfolio consists of projects focusing on agricultural research, livelihoods development, and commercial agriculture. Looking forward, these will be scaled-up through additional financing, while a new irrigation project, as well as a programmatic sector budget support operation will be added to the portfolio. In view of this AFTA1 seeks a seasoned Lead Agriculture Economist to lead its strategic, advisory, and operational work in Nigeria.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Lead Agriculture Economist will assist the AFTA 1 Sector Manager in delivery of the unit’s work program, assurance of quality, interaction with internal and external clients, including the private sector, staff development and partnerships.
The primary responsibility of the Lead Agriculture Economist will be to provide technical and strategic leadership to the development and implementation of the AFTA 1 program in Nigeria. In particular, the Lead Agricultural Economist will:
• Lead complex operations as Task Team Leader (TTL), both in agriculture and multi-sectoral operations, assuring quality in all stages of the project cycle;
• Serve as an advisor to colleagues who are themselves TTLs of demanding operations, providing them with mentoring, advice and support;
• Work with the Sector Leaders based in the Nigeria CMU and especially the SD Sector Leader to identify opportunities to address agricultural issues in the Nigeria country partnership strategy, country policy dialogue, budget support operations, and other multi-sectoral projects. Assure a strategic approach to support agricultural growth and effectively communicate that to the country team;
• Identify innovative new opportunities or ways to address existing needs in the agricultural sector, by bringing in experience from other regions and with a wide range of instruments;
• Remain current with relevant major pieces of analytical work in the profession. Lead or participate in major analytical activities in Nigeria , and work with AFTA1 colleagues engaged in analytical work;
• Represent the Bank in for a involving the community of development partners. Provide leadership, either explicit or implicit, in the work of the development partners in the sector;
• As necessary, represent the Bank and AFTA1 management at events with sectoral focus that take place in the field;
• Develop strong client relations and partnership, including with IFC, on operational matters and policy dialogue;
• Work with other units in the department and more broadly in the region, e.g. with PSD, and with the ARD Anchor in representation of Nigeria specific issues in regional and corporate strategies;
• Initiate and maintain a high level and quality of engagement and dialogue with key stakeholders, including government, civil society, private sector and research/academic community on strategic and policy issues concerning agriculture, irrigation and natural resources in Nigeria.

COMPETENCIES
Knowledge and Experience in Development Arena – Influences the design and execution of major policy and/or research initiatives; conceives and promotes innovations in development policies, project design, organization and management to improve operational and sector work.

Client Orientation – Translates insight into practice across disciplines, hierarchies, geographies and organizational units in service of clients.
Drive for Results – Ensures successful implementation and delivery of key programs and projects, ensuring that outputs positively impact results.
Teamwork (Collaboration) and Inclusion – Creates a team climate of practical and innovative action, facilitating collaboration between competing interests and stakeholders.

OTHER SELECTION CRITERIA:
• Masters or PhD in Agricultural Economics or related discipline
• Advanced degree in Agricultural Economics or related discipline with substantive professional experience (a minimum of at least 12 years in the case of a PhD or 15 years in the case of a Master’s degree) in areas relevant to agricultural development in more than one world region.
• Deep agricultural sector subject matter skills and analytical expertise.
• Outstanding skills in managing complex operations with excellent knowledge of and experience in Banks operations.
• Country office experience.
• Demonstrated track record in leading/coaching teams to achieve results, build strong teams across the matrix and develop, nurture and mentor junior staffs.
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and team skills with ability to think innovatively and strategically to find balanced, pragmatic and implementable solutions.
• Excellent writing skills and proven capacity to present complex issues in accessible fashion.
• High degree of discretion, ethics, tact and sensitivity in handling confidential and sensitive information;
• Ability to work under pressure while retaining perspective and a sense of humour.
• Very high level of energy, initiative and self-motivation, coupled with willingness to travel extensively and work under challenging conditions;
Fluency in English required; fluency in French desirable.

November 21, 2012 will ever remain indelible in the heart of Oloko villagers as members of the palace guard to the community leader of Ajara Topa community in collaboration with a vigilante group operating in the area arrested a man who allegedly eats and sells human parts to ritualists, operating from a hole he dug under the Gbaji bridge along the Badagry-Seme border.

Joshua Akindele, 56, who hails from Etokia Local Government in Ogun State was spotted by one Anthony Amos who watched him crawl into a hole under the Gbaji bridge, confessed that he had been into cannibalism and ritual killing for the past 15 years, after being introduced to the business by a friend who convinced him to stop driving popular motor cycle known as “Okada” which he claimed profited him a little, but could not sustain him. He further said that he had been earlier sent to prison for 5 years after sleeping with a 17-year old girl.

Speaking with us, Akindele confessed that he was the brain behind the incessant killing within the village using ply woods to hit his human prey, and dragging them into the holes before splitting their parts for food and business… with ritual buyers.

In his statement “I have been in this business for the past 15 years after my friend advised me to stop riding okada and to join him in ritual killing and can-ni-ba-li-sm”
When asked how he carried out his activities, he confessed “Whenever I see somebody walking alone without being conscious of who is watching, I walk slowing up to them and hit them with a big ply wood on their heads after which they fall unconscious, I then drag them into the hole and use a knife to cut them into parts which I sell to some churches and some ready buyers who indulge in ritual killing for easy money, and some times when I feel hungry late in the night, I eat some parts for food.

He confessed further that he sells the parts as follows: Heads 7,500, breast 1,500, penis 1000, hands and legs for 3,500.

Amos who is a member of a vigilante group in the area alerted other members of the group and palace guards of the Baale of Ajara Topa community to monitor the movements of Joshua.

He told us that at about 1am on 21st of November, he was on his normal routine watch when he noticed him (Joshua) crawling into the hole with a rice bag, he quickly alerted other members who confronted him with a gun and ordered him to drop and open what he was carrying. When he did, they discovered rotten human parts; skulls, legs, hands, breasts e.t.c.

We visited the palace of the Baale of Ajara Topa community, Chief Samuel Amosu Owolabi, who after confirming the incident told us that he was sleeping in his palace when an emergency call woke him with the caller informing him that a man had been arrested by members of his palace guards in collaboration with members of the vigilante group with human parts.

Chief Samuel said he quickly called Chief Patifo, Baale of Iyafin whom his community shared the bridge with to accompany him to the scene. When he got there, he noticed a mob had begun beating the suspect and only stopped after he begged them to let him live so that proper investigations will be carried out by the police.
We confirmed the suspect was in the custody of the Badagry police division from a police source who pleaded anonymity.

About a year ago I helped a friend start a new blog. At the time he was unemployed and if not for a simple lifestyle and his wife's job, they would have been in tough financial shape. He knew nothing about building or monetizing a blog, but his goal was to make it his full-time income.

Driven by passion for his blog subject -- enlightenment and self healing -- he began his journey of creating his blog. During this time, his unemployment was almost a blessing as he spent each day learning the basics of custom templates, hosting and advertising avenues.

Within one month he had an active blog with a nice custom design. Since then, he worked diligently to write and post good material each day. He slowly reached out to potential contributors who added diversity to his content. Along the way, his stats began creeping up, social media fans began following his blog, and loyal readers began to emerge.

About six months into the project, he made N75,000 income for the month. Still, he was somewhat disappointed and discouraged. In fact, he even questioned whether the hard work was worth the effort. After all, it had been countless hours of dedication.

Yet he continued to plug away, again driven by passion for his topic. Now, he sought out industry leading websites that share relevant content from lesser sites like his. To his surprise, many of these sites began consistently linking to his material which brought in many new visitors to his blog.

With renewed enthusiasm, he began to figure out which advertising vehicles were the best producing. He primarily ran Google ads and various affiliate programs, and he focused on the placements that made the most money.

Then disaster struck ten months into his blogging adventure. His wife lost her job. This meant their only form of income would come from this blog. But there was a silver lining.

The blog now had two full-time employees instead of one. His wife now focused all of her professional expertise into the blog and the effort really paid off.

My friend informed me that his blog has made over N250,000 per month over the last two months, almost exactly a year after he started it. And because they live a very simple lifestyle, this is enough to cover their living expenses. But, now, with two of them working on it, they realize that there is even more potential.

So for those of you who don't believe it's possible to make a full-time income from your blog, remember that it just takes time and dedication, and it will happen if you maintain your focus. Just when you think all your hard work may not be worth the effort, that's when you need to muster the strength to keep plugging away.
