I embarked on a football center in 2015 at a less commercial community and I operate it for three seasons ( mostly part time). Thou a bit stressful, First two seasons was good. But my third season was contested with one man who thought I'm making millions from the center and decides to start showing ball in his 'beer parlour'.
Thus, I got tired eventually and decides to venture into something else.

Anyway, I have some decoders for sale. So the @ops can contact me for easy transferring.

Let me give u an idea based on one very good Viewing center I saw at Ekiti

- Student area
-The guy has about 5 Large TVs and plenty of benches
- At the back, he put extra tall benches
- At the entrance, you meet someone who issues tickets to you at one entrance and one who opens the door to you when you show that ticket at the other entrance
-it makes it very organized and coordinated cos they won't allow you enter if you don't have that ticket no matter who you are
- UCL final Bayern vs Chelsea, I wonder how much that guy made tbh cos he still had to bring out extra TVs at the back ( that's despite the fact that it's the biggest viewing center I've seen o)

It's not that much lucrative bro, just like any other business, it has it's ups and downs.(1)DSTV subscription is something else (2)weather may do it's damage sometimes. My advice is maybe you should add the Playstation business(if you know about it) to it to supplement it

wen i moved to my new site, i had 2 90cm, 1 1.8m dish n 1 dstv n was on compact plus sub n was able to show about 3matches at a go but wasnt breaking even. i eliminated d dstv, bout another 1.8m dish after 6months n added another decoder and was showing all matches, while dstv scattered all collective channels alot of vc cudnt cope with paying #16k den for 3 decoders.

i saved up, bout my 4.4m dish n can now show all matches n competitions.

with bud you are sure of survival......

yes. Ctl is Tha bomb really. Go for Ctl.
It doesn't waste time booting like dstv
Bad weather doesn't have much effect on it like dstv
It shows all matches: ucl, epl, serial A, LA Liga, Logue 1,carling, europa, fa cup, community shield. Sometimes even bundeiga and Holland league

this is my 7th year in d biz, 6th yr as owner, 5season of paying @ most #1,900 for dstv access if need be, and now d only surviving vc in my area

u shud however know dstv does not show all matches.
and that for 2 matches it will cost u abt #15k monthly n #18k for 3matches on dstv.

Good evening, from the replies above, I can see you don't have the answers you need yet. I currently run a viewing center, so I think I should be able to help.
1. It's a lucrative business if you are in a good location.
2. Don't make it your main hustle .
3. Go to the nearest DSTV office and get a compact plus with an extra view.. you will be paying 12800 per month. It will give you access to SS2 to SS10.
3. anticipate challenges like hotels and betting shops that shows free games.
4.. Like every other business, it won't start paying immediately, infact, it might take 3 months before you can break even.
5. You will need to find a way to pull crowd down there. People won't just come.
6!! Make sure your gadgets are working fine! you won't want your Gen to go off during a major match. If you mess up one day! it might take you weeks to get their loyalty back.
7 ! Don't take side as the owner.. it's works for me.

my advice is don't go for dstv, it's very limited. Go for metro or one of these cable TVs. Dstv doesn't show europa and community shield

are they reliable like dstv..... Not the ones that will give unesseary wahala.... Eg Mtn are big thief but they are my main line for everything... They deliver, simple..... Will metro ND etc deliver... You get my drift

Buy decoder from dstv and buy another empty one for intermarriage. Dstv will do it for you. Subscribe to dstv compact plus ➕ HD extraview. Then you will show 2 live matches at a go on 2 separate decoders. Price is 12850

Twentyk, make sure u have tickets to give to customers.
For the side i dey watch match, money no dey cause problem, the owner and 2 worker dey operate.
The first worker go collect money and give the customer ticket at the entrance.
The owner go collect ticket from the customer before the customer go sit down.
And the second worker go be like a number10 in football, e go dey in-charge of maintenance and protection of the property and anything u wish him to do.
If first half finished, the owner will give each customer going outside for refreshments ticket.
Coming back for second half, the owner will collect is ticket back. New customer will have to pay the first worker to watch second half and the first worker will give the customer ticket that will give the owner.
Note:The owner always give the first worker new ticket difference from the first one to give new customer to watch second half, so that the calculations go dey smooth.

Secondly, there are tactics some people running this business are using to cover multiple matches same time with less monthly subscription. Research about it.

The truth is I won't do it all over again. Why?
Because the general life cycle of the business is in decline. Due to many number of reasons which includes but not limited to the emergence of the IT. Another major challenges is who to trust with the business if you are not going to be fully involved. Tickets idea of a thing is not effective. Fixed costs are high and sales are not guarantee because of the emergence of retail betting centers around. A lots of factors makes it really dicey. Currently, I am contemplating on exiting the business. I'm not discouraging you o, but I wouldn't want you to have a false mindset that all about the business is green.
Those who enjoyed the business are those that did it in early 2000s before the emergence of live scores, betting and co...

I want people to come in and watch "Nigerias match free, and other selective or high profile match..... I have my TV and gotv to do that without any wahala.... We can put any chair for now and most people won't mind standing..... My first aim is the awareness,I want them to know they can watch football here FREE and should not be peeping on the road.... Enter watch ball, enjoy yourself, go your house, come back next day....

op I think from all the comments here you should know what to do, ensure you have a contingency plan especially wen season ends or stdnts go on break. viewing center are not lucrative anymore unlike before. nobody wants to squeeze himself in a crowded area with children even insulting to adjust body, they will prefer watching with a beer at hand in a bar. Go tv even shows smaller matches now not to talk of betting shops every where. Be very guided you might end up frustrated. I have not even talked about the stress, fueling and employment of a helping assistant

do you run a VC.... Anyway I don't expect it to be easy.... But I still think a well run VC would get its audience here.... I'm using myself as an example... I still shaked my head when I got to a VC 2 days ago and it was not opened... Also there is a high population of students here... All the raw materials are just there staring at me....

we spent more than 400k then sha....but the turn out is poor because of betshops, Hotels, Beer parlors and shops showing games for free...worst of it all...startimes is now showing most of the games and you can subscribe as low as 100h to watch a match.

I pay 18k monthly for 3 dstv decoders. Since I ain't there myself, I agreed on a monthly payment.

If you have your space already, u will need to construct, do chair, buy TV at least 2, buy Generator, standing fan, UPS. If you don't have already constructed place to start, budget 300k upwards depending on your taste and capability

i don't have an alresdy constructed place, but I have a piece of land to do the job, I have a big Gen, TV would be produced, fan also.... I intend to do "free text run on the Nation's cup, I'm new in the area and just want to text waters.... I have envisioned a large turnout expecially when Nigeria is playing and the location is quite a bomb,as it's directly in front of the junction, infact all roads leads to the front of my house... That's d last junction to wherever you coming from and where you get to board another....

My aim is to take advantage of the lack of VC in that area, my believe is if one could supply one there, then you'd be patronized.... But I haven't figured in the bet naija and bear palour peoples.... Infact 3 bear palour surround me

i gave 100 bucks to the barman here for water so I could catch a match, he declined said unless I buy malt which is 150.....

To your question, I'd take a viewing center over a bar, there's a different feeling in a viewing center compare to a bar on ucl night..... That feeling alone I have greatly missed here, it's lacking and I intend to supply it...im sure there are a lot of people like me

that's some big ass lie.... I schooled in Ilorin for 5 years.... I paid 100 all through.... I never paid lesser, or have I in any viewing center... Infact "oga sonneh charges 150 for 3 to 5 matches...

It is stressful (still dont understand the stressful part though, since im only working on specific times)

I have a BIG bet9ja shop not far from me, and have many beer parlors around(but there's still no visible "viewing center for many football lovers here, if there's one I'd be there everytime... I coudnt watch Nigerias match 2 days ago, the guy no open, and I just be like chai)....

Compact plus will show champions league on super sport 5 and 6

Ordinary compact will show Premier league on super sport 3, 7, 8 and 10

Gotv will show football on super sport select 2 and maybe 4
