Crime › 11 Nigerians Arrested In Thailand With Links To Romance Scams by Tychost(op): 4:17pm On Jan 22 |
January 22, 2026 Immigration and Pak Kret police recently mobilized forces to dismantle a romance scam operation based in Muang Thong Thani. The raid followed the discovery of a group of foreign nationals living together and defrauding Thai and foreign victims. The scammers used attractive profiles of handsome men and persuasive "sweet talk" to manipulate victims into transferring money. 11 Nigerians were arrested and investigations revealed that many of the suspects had overstayed their visas, while five of the Nigerians had no record of entry or exit, having entered Thailand illegally via the Laos border. All individuals were charged with visa overstaying and illegal entry. Authorities seized over 34 pieces of evidence, including 4 computers and 29 mobile phones. The gang operated with clearly defined roles; some suspects lived with Thai wives, whom they used to receive illicit payments. The scammers would then instruct these individuals to withdraw the funds claiming the money was transferred from a friend abroad before converting the cash into cryptocurrency to send back to their home countries.

Streetinvestor2: When many of u don't leave ur region u think it is just about SE votes. You don't know our voting strength outside the SE states because many don't equally stay thr. You saw what that strength did in lagos and abj in last election. As people in kano, kaduna, adamawa, pleatue what igbo population is like in those states. The population in not loud in those your states besides lagos because they are poor and not viable for business IGR in OYO state alone is more than your 5 states combined and yet you are talking about economic viability here? Which of your state can go toe to toe with Ogun state when it comes to industries? You think the same Gen Z that voted your Obi last time that you arrogantly insulted and disrespected their culture is going to do the same again? You voted 99.9% for Obi last time, how did it work out? One thing you got right in your post is you referring to the Middle East people as “Igbo nation” the real Biafrans know themselves no matter how much you pretenders try to manipulate history |

ZoomTravels: Undercover police who dressed like construction workers arrested numerous suspected Nigerian drug traffickers in the Nana area of Bangkok early Sunday morning.
Pol Maj Gen Theeradet Thumsuthee, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said 40 plainclothes detectives – dressed mostly as a team of concrete workers – arrested eight Nigerian men and a Thai suspect aged 23-41 in the Nana area of Bangkok just after 12am Sunday. According to the deputy Bangkok police chief, the undercover operation by Bangkok and narcotics suppression police on Sukhumvit 11 Road in Watthana district responded to online complaints and warnings about African drug traffickers and pickpockets annoying tourists in the Nana area.
Such drug dealers normally hold packets of cocaine and drugs in their mouths, he said. If there are customers, they spit out the packets and sell the drug. If police show up, they swallow the packets and run.
The undercover detectives quietly approached groups of suspected traffickers and arrested them red-handed. They consisted of eight Nigerian men aged 23-41 and a 36-year-old Thai national from Udon Thani province. Police seized two packets of cocaine, weighing altogether four grammes, on the spot. They were waiting for other suspects to empty their bowels, expecting to seize more narcotics.
Pol Maj Gen Theeradet said narcotics were smuggled into the country by drug dealers who swallowed packets of drugs and arrived by air. Once the drugs were retrieved from the smugglers' digestive systems, they were sold at tourist destinations. During the operation, many tourists praised police and said such drug traffickers in the area were annoying, the deputy Bangkok police chief said.

Akanoaaa: Wealthier than who? Lol.. People that don't have a single representative in list of top 10 richest men in Nigeria, they only known for chest beating. Ohh, do they pay to hold a political position in other's people region? All the wealthy ethnicities I know in the world like the Europeans, the Americans, the Arabs, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Thais, the Japanese all have people constantly willing to migrate to their place in search of better opportunities , when has anyone in the world said to himself “time to sell off my properties” to travel to any place in the south east? I mean what truly wealthy group in the world are looking to drag land with others? Yorubas have been amassing wealth before they learnt to wear clothing and we were never comparing ourselves to them. That will be a downgrade in all seriousness |

Irony1: Igbos and yorubas contest steadily for councilor position in Sabon Gari Kano. Try and travel more so that you stop assumptions. Did the ohanaeze have to demand the slots or was it something that happened organically as a product of who the contestant are? Why is it that you people know nothing about accountability? You contest for political office in another man’s land and not demand it. No one owes you anything. |
Politics › Re: Ohaneze: Igbos Deserve To Hold Political Offices In Lagos by Tychost: 1:39pm On Jul 13, 2025 |
Irony1: But you guys demanded appointments during Jonathan regime didn't you. So what is different. Again the same discrimination is also happening between SA and Ugandans, Somali and Zimbabweans, so please do not make it an issue about the igbo man. In Ghana there was no issue about it, even before now Ghanaians have issues with Nigerian businesses and even Nigerian banks, so please that statement of yours shows that you have little understanding of the Africa dynamics. Little understanding? Boy I have been traveling this continent before you descended from your Pops sack. We demanded from a federal government, just like your folks also did under buhari and tinubu. Not go into Igbo state to contest for local elections. So stop with the false equivalency and deflective tactics |
Politics › Re: Ohaneze: Igbos Deserve To Hold Political Offices In Lagos by Tychost: 1:33pm On Jul 13, 2025 |
Irony1: Have you asked yourself why they are demanding it? Also it is just a statement, you guys still have the voting power so nothing changes. So it begs the question why all the fear mongering by some Yorubas? Interestingly I am asking myself why are they demanding it? Why are Yorubas not demanding it? Why are you the only ones being singled out from here to Ghana to South Africa ? It’s just never enough is it? Could it be that the locals have a particular reason to reject the imposition of your culture on theirs? Why is your home not good enough for you to grow and prosper. Why demand to be respected in a place you and your people constantly look down on. |
Politics › Re: Ohaneze: Igbos Deserve To Hold Political Offices In Lagos by Tychost: 1:25pm On Jul 13, 2025 |
Irony1: Bros there is no entitlement here. Politics is local amd so if you have an igbo man who was born and grew up in Agege and the local love him and accept and he is fully assimilated and speaks fluent Yoruba. Are you implying that he cannot contest for councillor? He is 100% allowed to contest for any position he likes and it is his constituency job to vote or not vote him. So why is a Igbo socio-political group demanding for igbos to be given a spot? Put in the work and integrate into the society and the people will decide on that. You do not get to go to another man’s land and demanding you are offered a table at the corridors of power. This is logic but sadly not too many from the east apply it on a regular |
Politics › Re: Ohaneze: Igbos Deserve To Hold Political Offices In Lagos by Tychost: 9:31am On Jul 13, 2025 |
sammiewrite: So you think Igbos can give over 90% of vote to their son because they think he is capable, but Yoruba dare not give their son just a little over 50% because they too think he is capable, or for some other reason at all which they're entitled to by the laws of Nigeria?
Also, you think Igbos are justified to react to Buhari calling them 5% and the operation Python Dance, but Lagosians dare not react after several years of continuous and sustained insults and attack on everything they hold dear? Be honest, have you ever seen an Ebira, Okun, Nupe, Gbagi, Urhobo or any other Nigerian from the other over 200 tribe called Lagos a "no man's land" other than the Igbos? Was it the Hausa people that held a meeting pre 2023 election, facing the camera and declaring boldly that taking over Lagos was non-negotiable? Is it the Ijaws that said that when they take over Lagos, that they will disband the traditional leadership and will chase Lagos traditional rulers under the bridge? Should I forward an X post that one of your sisters made a couple of weeks ago where she drew comparison between areas populated by Igbos and Yorubas in Lagos, and advised Lagos visitors to avoid Yoruba populated areas? I know your first reaction to this post would be to deny everything. Then, when I drop tweets and links, you will claim they're not Igbos; that they're Agbado/Ronu impersonators. That, or you deflect to something totally unrelated like how Tinubu has caused hunger and poverty. If you live among these things, you will know how much the entitlement attitude is deeply entrenched into their mindset. They will cry victim from dawn to dusk, but they are always the provocateur. That flag will never fly anywhere in Yoruba land. |

Now, things aren’t great in Nigeria but at least not having any representation in that room is a win. Whenever you see an African leader leave a room with a western counterpart all smiles and giggles, just know it’s you the regular folks getting screwed |

Kukutente23: So which country do you see citizens hailing and praising corrupt leaders like Nigeria? You are accusing some people of exporting crime and drugs. I guess Hushpuppi is from that side I guess Mompha is also from that side. Those sponsoring Boko Haram are also from that side abi Some of una no go wan get sense even if they are dashing it out for free The country you are hiding in, do you see them praise and worship corrupt leader like you are doing here? Yet you come here to worship the same corrupt leaders that made your life unbearable you had to run away from home Let’s call out the corrupt leaders and protest against them. But can we address what’s going on in India as the man you responded to? It’s really getting out of hand and at some point looking like every single Nigerian there is dealing drugs. There are countries all over the world who have it worse than Nigeria but no where near the criminality of Nigerians in a foreign land. |

SeriouslySense: That is why it is good to have a truly good nature. When i travelled i made sure to respect myself and even leave a good impression so they can regard others that are coming. That is what other wise foreigners do, they leave a good impression, some gave me gifts, and were very friendly.
Some Africans abroad leave very negative impression, some borrow money and do not return it they give the impression that they are confused and parasitic or crimminal. This is one bad natural habit of a nigerian, they will feel so entitled, always taking but never giving
I made sure i observed and learned and acted positively This is a cultural problem, and it’s only getting worse with the new generation. For all the good many Nigerians do abroad, a few untrained bunch has brought too much shame to the country. And we all dance around the issue and finger point but we know a strong hand as regarding migration and responsible community leaders is what’s needed. The news coming out of India these days and the increase in street corner activities in Thailand is not encouraging at all. I have met people who swear I’m not Nigerian just because I approach and treat them with respect. It really raises the question why are the worst Nigerians representing us globally? |

HenryWilliams: All US allied countries would exact some form of punishment on us for aligning with the BRICS.. For Nigeria to join BRICS.. it means the entire West Africa has unwillingly joined via Nigeria. AMERICA seed this as a direct challenge to it's sphere of Influence since the Russians and Chinese have made serious inroads into Africa. Africa is all but lost to them with another heavyweight SA firmly with BRICS IF Nigeria joins fully..the punitive action would be loud.. That's why we need to develop our economy sans US. China is the rising star now coupled with India..Western Europe have all but diminished .cowering under the jackboot of America.. unable to whisper, to raise their heads high. South America is a no go for US ..same with South East Asia. Interestingly they have just slapped a major tariff on South East Asian countries and even Japan and Korea are holding major trade meetings now more than before. Trade between the ASEAN countries is way more than the trans Atlantic trade between EU and US, the fall from grace is unstoppable, all we have to do is watch them with our pop corn in hand try to stop nature. |
