Politics › Re: Okezie Ikpeazu Heads To Supreme Court by tymgotel: 11:58am On Jan 01, 2016 |
kihemeje96: Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu released a press statement following the receipt of the judgment of the court of appeal sitting at Owerri on his election as the state governor. Read his statement below: "DISTINGUISHED LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I have just been informed that the Court of Appeal sitting at Owerri has nullified my victory as the duly elected Governor of Abia State and ordered that one of my opponents at the election, Dr. Alex Otti should be sworn in as the winner of the election. As of this moment, I have not received the full briefing on the reason for the decision of the Court of Appeal but my Lawyers are still at the Court waiting to obtain a copy of the Judgment for further studying and it is past 7pm. The next 4 days are Public Holidays and the timing of the judgment means that we are losing valuable days to study the judgment and file our Appeal. I wish to state at this point that preliminary reports available to me indicate that the premise upon which the decision of the Court of Appeal was arrived at is at best tenuous. That being said, I wish to express my utmost confidence in the ability of the Justices of the Supreme Court to correct the anomaly at the Court of Appeal and uphold my victory as had been earlier done by the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia. In the interim, while I have instructed my Lawyers to take steps to file an immediate Appeal at the Supreme Court, I wish to assure all Abians that all is well. I remain the Governor of Abia State until the Supreme Court reaffirms my mandate which was freely given to me by the good people of Abia State during the elections. I call on the Security Agencies to maintain the peace in Abia State and ensure that people go about their legitimate businesses without fear of disruption from any quarters. I also call on our supporters to remain calm in the face of provocation. I remain supremely confident that at the end of the day, victory shall be ours. I thank you all for listening and wish you a prosperous 2016". Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D Governor, Abia State

doctokwus: The difference here is that people go about their businesses. But in IPOB's case, they force people to shut their bizs, mount road blocks, attack people who refuse to identify with them and generally disrupt general order. No decent govt should attack those on peaceful protest, but no serious one shud also watch as the right to legitimately carry out their own daily activities by other pple are disrupted by any group. IPOB/massob carried out protests in Abuja and recently Lagos, without disrupting the movement of others, where they attacked? But in other areas, they were, that should give u food for thought. who tell u? Nawaooo |
Christianity Etc › Re: Nigeria Will Overcome Challenges – Mbaka by tymgotel: 4:26pm On Dec 18, 2015 |
DONSMITH123: Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministries based in Enugu on Friday declared that Nigeria will definitely succeed.
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he assured that Nigeria will overcome the challenges presently facing it.
He said: “We have come to commit the nation into the hands of God and pray for peace and God should establish His blessings in our country.
“We wish to pray for the revamping of the economy. We are committing Aso Rock into the hands of God. We are also here to commit Nigeria to Jesus, that this 2015 Christmas, Nigerians will say God is great.
“Pray for blessing for our people, I want to assure Nigerians that in the midst of what is happening, we shall succeed, the time of promotion is coming,” he added.
On the agitation for Biafra, he said that he did not discuss it with the President, saying: “I am silent on everything about Biafra.”
On the claim that he is controversial, he said: “People can say what they want to say, I am a happy man.”
During the last administration, the clergy had predicted the exit of former President Goodluck Jonathan from power in the period leading to the March 2015 Presidential election.
True to his prediction, Jonathan lost the election to President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was how it happened in the court
room
between the magistrate and the fg DSS!!!!!!!
FG DSS: Nnamdi Kanu has financed terror
activities in Nigeria.
Judge: This is very bad. How many people
died in
this terror?
FG DSS: He is sponsoring a future terror.
Judge: This is new to me. He sponsored a
future
terror?
FG DSS: He conspired to terrorize the
country.
Judge: Okay. Who are the co-conspirators?
FG DSS: He conspired with some people in
USA
who refused his demands.
Judge: So he did not conspire but he was
having
a debate about whether Igbos should arm
themselves against Boko Haram?
FG DSS: you can call it that.
Judge: Discharged and acquitted. Next time
bring
a real terrorist and not a public opinion
influencer.
Goodbye. |
