That pidgin English is a widely used language does not make it an official language...take note; pidgin English is not our language. It has its source from different languages(both local and international). The early traders had no common language with the Portuguese whom they traded with,so the need for a common language arose...that's how pidgin started in Nigeria. For it to be made official is something scholars are still arguing about. |
