I've heard it said that some people fear success. Well, that might hold true in some climes. However, I'll centre my thoughts around Nigeria where I was born and raised. Ask a native of the 1st world whether they'd like a billion dollars and you'd get mixed responses. Some would say yes, some would say they don't need it to be happy, and the rest would ask for some time to think about it. Ask Nigerians and the answer is mostly an overwhelming yes. Ask them what they would do with it and they would say, "Bring it first". So most Nigerians don't fear success. What is felt by some, is a fear of the CONSEQUENCES OF BEING SUCCESSFUL IN NIGERIA! This fear exists in many people here in the most subconscious forms. This is why many people self-sabotage when they're on the brink of a breakthrough. I've seen people take courses on how to become influencers, but they never practice because they have a secret fear of being seen by many. Do not worry. It is my hope that this post brings these hidden demons to the light, gives you fresh armour with which to conquer them and provides you the audacity to shine like the star that you are. These Consequences of being Successful In Nigeria are real, but not without their antidotes. Here goes. ==== CONSEQUENCE 1 ==== In Nigeria, you will be TAXED HEAVILY for prosperity, not only by the government, but also by family, friends, artisans and domestic workers. You just spent an arm and a leg to move into a new house or purchase a new vehicle and they ask you to 'wash it'. Your extended family will summon you to build a house in a village you have no intention of living in. When you take your car to a mechanic, the quality of your wristwatch will determine how much he will charge you or the problems he will manufacture in the car. Your gateman will make up stories about sick parents he needs money to help. It's like the system resents you for making it out alive and seeks to take from you with every chance it gets. ==== SOLUTION ==== Listen, do not be ashamed or afraid of disappointing people. Sometimes you're forced into debt and other difficult situations just because you don't want to lose face. Ehn yes, a whole you does not have 'common 30k' to lend them. They are free to goan tweet about it. "But we heard that Ikenna is doing very well in the city. A man that has not built at least one mansion in his village, is that one a man?" Ehn, leave it like that. Shebi when you do your midnight dance with your wife, she confirms that you're a man. That's all the validation you need. Fire dey go. ==== CONSEQUENCE 2 ==== POOR PEOPLE will hate you! Pocket Poverty is understandable and can be reasoned with, but Poverty of the Brain is a deadly disease. People who suffer this are in such misery, that they wish for 'The Rich Also Cry' to be made manifest in your life. Ask bloggers. Whenever something negative or sorrowful happens to a successful person, that article will get a lot of views. "She's making so much money, why can't she give to charity" When she gives, they'll say, "Only 100k? I'm disappointed" If a member of your family isn't financially prosperous, they'll use them against you. "With all the money she's making, her parents are living in a common 2 bedroom flat in Ikeja. Why not move them to Banana Island. We know she can afford it" They don't know your internal family dynamics and they don't care to know. If you lose a loved one, they'll say you used their blood to blow. It's like they want that reassurance that there's nothing special about you. ==== SOLUTION ==== There's no solution. Just remember that the only pat on the back you need is God telling you "Well Done" for a life well lived. Trust me, the mob doesn't matter. ==== CONSEQUENCE 3 ==== Your PERSONAL LIFE WILL COME UNDER HEAVY SCRUTINY. If you were used to a quiet existence before, you can kiss that lifestyle goodbye. There are people who will insist on visiting you at home just to satisfy their curiosity. They'll look out for chinks in your armour that they can use to fuel gossip. They'll make mental notes of the food you eat, how you spend money, even how you relate with your spouse. Some will have recording devices on them so they can quote you verbatim on issues personal to you. What do you think bloggers mean when they say "We were reliably informed by a source close to the family that her husband has been unfaithful"? ==== SOLUTION ==== I've made long posts here on this point alone. Rigorously vet your circle. Guard yourself and private matters from unnecessary exposure. If you're the sort of person who needs to be around a lot of random people in order to feel happy, cure that sickness AS A MATTER OF SUPREME URGENCY! Hire a security firm to make periodic sweeps of your home and office to find out if you've been bugged. If you can't afford to, research on Youtube. There are ways to do this yourself. I personally know one successful person who won't talk to you unless you consent to a full body scan. ==== CONSEQUENCE 4 ==== You'll often be held hostage to standards even they cannot uphold. Now, this is a tricky one that affects a lot of people, especially those dealing with some secret issues from a past or current life situation. You have inadequacies you'd rather keep private and so you do just enough good work, not the great ones that will expose you to the public eye. You keep your own self down, even though you're capable of so much more. You didn't ask to be famous. You were poor before. You worked hard to make money and now you're expected to be Mother Theresa. "That one that could not keep her marriage, she cannot tell me anything about entrepreneurship" "See his daughter insulting him on Instagram. How can he talk to me about leadership when he cannot lead his own home?" "Look at her. Today New York, tomorrow Geneva. Na sugar daddy o jare. Make we hear word." ==== SOLUTION ==== Remember that song by Usher and T.I.? "My life, your entertainment You watch it while I live it" Listen. Enjoy the show. Keep walking in your purpose. Keep making headlines, while they rage in the comments section. Keep stacking those accomplishments and making bold statements, while they fulfill their own purpose in the comments section of life. ==== Can you now see that the devil is a liar? There's no reason to NOT live your best life. YOU WERE BORN FOR THIS! Don't hide. Don't be shy about compliments. Never stutter. Stand straight and tall. Feel grateful, but entitled to every good thing that comes your way. It's God's will for you. Every road traveled, everything you've been through and grown through, every situation you survived... they've all prepared you for this ultimate dance. Step into THE LIMELIGHT AND GIVE US A GREAT SHOW! Credit; John Obidi. https://wakanda.ng/consequences-successful-nigeria-solutions/

If you're looking to start making money online within days to weeks, then you should consider looking for an online job. Like traditional office jobs, you'll start earning once you're able to land your first gig. So, it's a cool path to thread for those who want to make some cash on the side, but cannot afford the waiting time that blogging and many other passive online income streams require. Now, let's talk a bit about these jobs. online jobs in Nigeria Online jobs, simply put, are jobs that you can fulfill over the Internet. While these jobs usually don't involve rushing down to an office every morning, they vary in terms of complexity, depending on the type of tasks involved. So, they are not always easy-peasy. But the cool thing about them is that they allow you to work from the comfort of your home. Note that there are slight differences between online jobs and online freelance jobs. An online job might not necessarily be a freelance job. If, say, a digital marketing agency hires you as its in-house writer and places you on a monthly salary rather than a pay-per-article remuneration, what you've got an online job, but not a freelance job. With an online freelance job, you get paid per successfully executed task, you choose your working hours, and you're not tied to a single client. But other online jobs are just what they are -- online jobs. That is, they allow you to work from home -- and that's the only freedom you can enjoy. You're legally tied to the client employer, get a fixed monthly pay, work within specified times daily, and play by your employer's other rules. So, we can correctly conclude that online freelance jobs are a sub-type of online jobs. This clarification is necessary to help you make well-informed choices whenever you're faced with multiple offers. Enough of the intro. Let's now look at some of the common online jobs you can easily find here in Nigeria. 1. Writing jobs Writing jobs are by far the most in-demand online jobs. Even here in Nigeria, you can make a lot of money working for Nigerian clients or employers alone. With the increasing number of blogs and company websites launched by Nigerians every day, the booming demand for content writers in the country is quite expectable. So, if you're a good writer, you can start applying for writing gigs and start making cool money from the comfort of your home or office. In my journey through the world of online business, I started out as a freelance writer, so I know how lucrative this option can be. However, it goes without saying that the better your writing skills and the faster you're able to churn out quality content, the more money you can make from online writing gigs. There are different types of online writing tasks: articles, website content, CVs, sales copies, business plans, letters of introduction, fiction ghostwriting, proposals, and many others. You have the option of specializing in only one type of task or covering multiple different types. 2. Wakanda Nation Affiliate Program (WAP) To make cool money online, you must go beyond just whiling away your time and data on social media reading news, propagating gossips and lies at times. You can actually make money while doing that. Wakanda Nation pays you to read their news, comment and share their news on social media. Also, they pay you N1,000 for every new member you invite to the website using your affiliate link. With wakanda Nation, you can earn up to N30,000 weekly doing the same thing you have been doing on social media for free. Click here to register a free Wakanda account now. 3. Graphics design jobs They say a picture is better than a thousand words. That's quite true, especially in online marketing. And that's why you tend to notice sponsored ads in in your Facebook feed when they are pictures than you do when they are pure text. The increasing awareness of this reality explains the increasing demand for graphics designers. If you're skilled in designing ad banners, logos, website header banners, e-covers, business brochures, and other graphic works, then you can make money off of your skills. A lot of Nigerian individuals and companies are looking to hire talented hands like yours. In fact, companies like Jumia, Konga, Jiji, and so on have their own in-house graphics designers. 4. Website design and development jobs Internet penetration in Nigeria keeps increasing by the day, and millions of Nigerians now spend several hours on the Internet doing all sorts. More and more Nigerian businesses are waking to this reality, so they are trying hard to reach their potential customers online. And because having a website is one of the best ways to achieve this, the demand for web designers and developers in Nigeria is now in the rise. So, if you're good at designing websites either from scratch or by modification of ready-made frameworks, you stand a good chance of making money by working for clients online. And if you're able to integrate advanced functionalities such as online stores, online databases, interactive modules, and so on, then you stand a bigger chance of landing clients here in Nigeria. 5. Programming jobs Apps are all the rave right now. Individuals are creating them for the fun of it or to make some side income, while companies are using them as platforms to interact with their potential and existing customers. With the steady increase in the number of smartphone users in Nigeria, the demand for app developers can only continue to grow. If you're good at coding and can develop awesome apps even in your sleep, then your skills are required by a lot of Nigerian clients out there. Once you know where to look to find the gigs, you can make a lot of money building apps and games. Programmers also make money by helping individuals and companies troubleshoot their online assets and check them for bugs and security flaws. If that's the aspect you're a guru in, then you can also have a good share of the opportunities out there. 6. Social media management Social media is one of the most effective business and brand promotion platforms available today. So, it's not surprising that a lot of Nigerian celebrities and companies hire dedicated staff to handle their social media accounts on various platforms. If you have good command of English and a brilliant mind that understands the best and most civil responses to different enquiries and insults, then you should consider going into this line of online business. If you're able to get provable results for your clients or employers, then there's no limit to the income you can make. Social media management might seem easy on the surface, but it's not as easy as updating your own personal social media accounts. If you'll be working for companies, then you'll need to have a deep understanding of each company's customer personas and what makes them tick, as well as the best strategies for promoting different types of businesses on social media. Wrap-up There you have it. I just revealed five of the most in-demand online jobs in Nigeria today. Now, I understand that there are lots of other online job options, but I have restricted this list to only those ones that you can easily land here in Nigeria. If you already have the skills required for any of these jobs, I expect you to start finding and applying for available gigs right away. And if you're interested in any of these job options but lack the required skills, you can take some time to learn them. For writing, graphics design, and social media management, you can learn the required skills within few months -- provided you're determined and dedicated to learning. So, take action now, and start making some cash online! https://wakanda.ng/online-jobs-nigeria-pay-well/ credit lalasticlala, davide470, uboma |

This is the touching life story of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi who ruled the Benin empire before he was dethroned and exiled by the British. Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi (ruled 1888 – 1897), also called Overami, was the Oba (king) of the Kingdom of Benin up until the British punitive expedition of 1897. Born in circa 1857, he was the son of Oba Adolo he took the name Ovonramwen Nogbaisi at his enthronement in 1888, every Oba took a new name at his coronation, the name translates as Ovonramwen meaning “The Rising Sun” and Nogbaisi meaning “which spreads over all.” At the end of the 19th century, the Kingdom of Benin had managed to retain its independence and the Oba exercised a monopoly over trade which the British found irksome. The territory was coveted by an influential group of investors for its rich natural resources such as palm-oil, rubber and ivory. The kingdom was largely independent of British control, and pressure continued from figures such as Vice-Consul James Robert Phillips and Captain Gallwey (the British vice-Consul of Oil Rivers Protectorate) who were pushing for British annexation of the Benin Empire and the removal of the Oba. A British invasion force headed by Phillips set out to overthrow the Oba in 1896. The force’s weapons were hidden in baggage, with troops disguised as bearers. Phillips plan was to gain access to Ovonramwen’s palace by announcing that he intended to negotiate. Ovonramwen’s messengers issued several warnings not to violate Benin territorial sovereignty, claiming he was unable to see Phillips due to ceremonial duties. Having been warned on several further occasions on the way, Phillips sent his stick to the Oba, a deliberate insult designed to provoke the conflict that would provide an excuse for British annexation. Phillip’s expedition was ambushed and all but two were killed. Subsequently a military operation against Benin in 1897 led by Harry Rawson resulted in the burning of Benin City, the destruction and looting of the royal palaces, and the deaths of untold numbers of its inhabitants. Although the British had orders to hang the Oba, Ovonramwen escaped, but returned to the city to formally surrender on 5 August 1897. When Ovonramwen returned to the city, after six months spent in evading capture in the forest, he was richly dressed and laden with coral beads and accompanied by an entourage of seven hundred to eight hundred people. He attempted to escape exile by offering Consul General Ralph Moor 200 puncheons (barrels) of oil worth £1500 [£183000.00 today] and to disclose where his 500 ivory tusks were buried [today’s value: Up to £275,625,500.00] however this offer was dismissed as Mr. Moor had already discovered them. Ovonramwen was exiled to Calabar with his two of his wives, Queen Egbe and Queen Aighobahi, and died there around the turn of the new year in 1914. Ovonramwen was eventually buried in the grounds of the royal palace in Benin City. He was succeeded by his first son and legitimate heir, Prince Aguobasimwin, who ruled as Eweka II. https://wakanda.ng/ovonramwen-nogbaisi-oba-benin-conquered-exiled-calabar-british/

The Olofa of Offa, Mufutau Gbadamosi, has asked the Nigeria Police force to be careful in their investigation as himself and his subjects will not be party to any attempt to tarnish the image of senate president, Bukola Saraki. The monarch's comment comes few days after the suspected criminals that carried out the April 5th Offa bank robberies, implicated the senate president, accusing him of employing them as his political thugs. In a statement released by his principal private secretary, Tajudeen Olyede, the monarch appealed to the police to avoid unnecessary sensationalism of the robbery incident. “The attention of Olofa’s Palace, Offa, the traditional domain of his royal majesty, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Ajagungbade I, the Olofa of Offa has been drawn to the claims made by the police at a press conference in Abuja on 3rd of June, 2018 where some of the suspects arrested in connection with the robbery incidents which occurred in our town in April implicated Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the senate president. While we will not want to prejudice the investigation by the police on this case, the community will appreciate thoroughness to ensure equity and justice on the matter. “As far as we are concerned, Dr. Bukola Saraki has taken Offa as his second home and have been supportive of all our activities and development projects in the town. The senate president always heeded to our call anytime we approach him on any issue concerning the progress and security of our ancient town. The Offa people are well bred citizens of Nigeria and we are appreciative of people who have extended hands of fellowship to us. Dr. Saraki is one such person and thus we hold him in high esteem. “When the Offa robbery incident happened, the senate president was the first top public official to pay a visit to our town and right there in the palace in the glare of the high chiefs and other well-meaning personalities, the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Saraki put a call to the inspector-general of police, Mr. Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, requesting him to make necessary security arrangement which our people has long been yearning for. The Senate President also donated substantial money to help some of our people who were in distress as a result of the robbery incident and he also made substantial contribution towards the building of a new police station. “We wish to state that the senate president is a former governor of Kwara state and by the grace of God the number three citizen of this country, we will therefore not be a party to attempt to ridicule, embarrass, denigrate and disgrace him. We know his antecedent, family and political beliefs. We therefore call on the police to be alive to their responsibility and avoid unnecessary sensationalism in the handling of the investigation into the Offa robbery incident. We will appreciate that this case is thoroughly investigated devoid of media trial and unnecessary and undue publicity. Our interest remain in the law taking its course against those who unleashed mayhem and violence against our people in order to prevent recurrence of such crime in our society.” https://wakanda.ng/wont-party-attempt-disgrace-bukola-saraki-offa-monarch-tells-police/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44

The Inspector of General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to declare as unconstitutional, the Senate’s insistence that he must appear for a legislative hearing in person. He insisted in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/457/2018 and filed on April 30, 2018, that his personal appearance before the Senate was unnecessary because the issues for which he was invited were not personal. The IGP, through his lawyer, Alex Izinyon (SAN), who filed the suit on his behalf, joined the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as defendants in his suit. He noted that if he was to personally honour every invitation sent to the office of the IGP, there would be no time to attend to his main responsibilities. The Senate had in a letter dated April 25, 2018, invited the IGP to appear before it in relation to the purported inhuman treatment of Senator Dino Melaye and the killings in many parts of the country. The IGP, on April 26, refused to appear before the Senate but delegated the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) and Commissioner of Police, Kogi State to represent him at the Senate. But the Senate refused to grant an audience to the two representatives, insisting that the IGP must personally appear for the legislative hearing. The upper legislative chamber then rescheduled the meeting for May 2 and again directed that the IGP must honour its invitation in person. The IGP, in a supporting affidavit accompanying his suit, said his action of delegating his subordinates to appear before the Senate was backed by law. He said under the Constitution and Police Act, he had the power to delegate responsibilities, including directing some of his subordinates to represent him wherever he was invited, more so that his choice of the DIG (Operations) and CP, Kogi State was on the basis that they were conversant with the issues for which he was invited. Both Saraki and the Senate, in a counter-affidavit, accused the IGP of using the court to shield himself from being scrutinised by the legislature. They stated that the IGP’s representatives were denied audience because of “the weighty issues which require clarification as they touched on the very soul of our national existence and in order to ensure fruitful and meaningful deliberations.” They prayed the court to reject the plaintiff’s prayers and dismiss the suit. Justice John Tsoho on Thursday adjourned till June 29 for the hearing of the suit. http://wakanda.ng/declare-senates-insistence-appearance-illegal-igp-tells-court/

Finding ways to lose weight with using a legal alternative is one of the popular queries in many parts of the world including Nigeria. Interestingly, there are several local herbs found in Yorubaland that have been linked with weight loss. However, this post shall essentially focus on the Best Yoruba Herbs for Weight Loss in 2018. These herbs work in different ways. Some work by reducing your appetite for food while others make you feel full and reducing your calorie consumption. Also, some herbs work by boosting your metabolism so that your body burns more calories. Yoruba herbs and foods for weight loss In the post, we’ve highlighted five of these herbs and foods that have been associated with weight loss or prevention of weight gain. #1 Kidney beans (Ewa) People that try to lose weight often wonder how they can reach their goal of having a lean body mass or muscle. Well, one of such ways is to include kidney beans in your diet. A diet rich in kidney beans when compared with a carbohydrate based diet can lead to up to 25 percent of weight loss from lean muscle instead of fat. The process is explained this way. Typically, beans produce substances that interfere with amylase, an enzyme that break down carbohydrate. And since carbohydrate isn’t broken down, the body absorbs fewer calories. This calories deficit is what causes weight loss. However, if you’ve already adopted a low carbohydrate diet, there may be no observable difference in your weight since this type of diet and that of kidney beans work similarly. Apart from weight loss, kidney beans also has other excellent health benefits Cognitive function Kidney beans boost your cognitive ability as well as your brain function. It contains vitamin K which is highly beneficial for the brain and the nervous system. This is due to the production of sphingo-lipids which vitamin K stimulates. The beans also contains thiamin which the brain cells need for cognitive functioning Reduces diabetes’ risk Kidney bean has a low glycemic index which doesn’t allow your blood sugar level to spike whenever you consume the beans. Reduce risk of stroke and heart atttack This is due to the folate in the beans which helps to lower the level of homocysteine thereby reducing the risk of strokes, heart attack and vascular diseases. #2 Cinnamon (Oloorun) Cinnamon is another beneficial weight loss herb. Some of its effects on weight loss have been highlighted below: Regulates insulin level Cinnamon maintains blood sugar level by reducing spikes when consumed which can prevent excess fat storage. Reduces blood sugar As a result of the ability of the herb to control insulin level, it can also lower blood sugar which can be quite beneficial in diabetic patients. Boost metabolism Cinnamon is also known to generally alter the metabolic levels in the body which can cause an increase in weight. This is particularly important because it prevents the body from storing excess fat and allows more calories to be consumed. Burns belly fat Belly fat can be very stubborn to lose but cinnamon addresses this. Research has linked cinnamon consumption with reduction of belly fat Reduces bad cholesterol Cinnamon lowers the LDL cholesterol which is the bad cholesterol. This is particularly one of the most cogent reasons people believe that olooron is one of the Best Yoruba Herbs for Weight Loss. Appetite suppression The sweet taste of cinnamon can help alleviate sweet cravings. The herb also slows down the process by which food moves into the stomach. Here are different ways of using cinnamon for weight loss You can sprinkle a teaspoon on your breakfast cereal You can also mix it with honey in hot water and drink it like tea or better still you can add to your regular tea. Another option is to add it to your fruit juice Or you can simply take the cinnamon capsule #3 Turmeric (Ata ile pupa) Turmeric is yellowish or orange spice that is used to add color to curry. It has severy interesting health benefits. One of which is its anti-inflammatory effect due to the presence of curcumin. The herb also help does with overweight problems or metabolic disorders The ability of turmeric to increase metabolism is what enables you lose weight. The medicinal effect of turmeric has also been linked with reducing blood sugar as well as high cholesterol levels. Studies have shown that turmeric can help reduce weight gain. This happened because turmeric prevents the formation new blood vessels that are usually formed prior to wieght gain. Some of the ways to include turmeric in your diet is by adding it to your sauce, salad dressing or grilled meats. It can also be taken as a supplement. However, turmeric can increase bleeding risk so you should consult your doctor before use especially if you’re using certain medications. An evangelist is asking his "disciples" to pray for him so that he can buy a $54milllion private jet as God instructed. Jesse Duplantis, who already has three private planes, said that God told him "I want you to believe in me for a Falcon 7X". He said this to his followers during his weekly video address. Duplantis, 68, says the three-engine plane would allow the ministry to fly "anywhere in the world in one stop," reducing fuel costs while maintaining a global reach. He added that Jesus Christ "wouldn’t be riding a donkey" today – "he’d be in an airplane flying all over the world."preacher asks for $45million He said: "You know I have owned three different jets in my life and I use them and just burning them up for the Lord, Jesus Christ. Some people believe that preachers shouldn’t have jets. I really believe that preachers ought to be able to go on every available voice, every available outlet to get this gospel preached to the world." He continued: "We’re believing God for a brand new Falcon 7X, so we can go anywhere in the world in one stop. Now people say, 'My lord, can’t you go with this one?'. Yes, but I can’t go in one stop. If I can do it for one stop, I can fly it for a lot cheaper because I have my own fuel farm. And that’s what’s a blessing of the lord." http://wakanda.ng/preacher-wants-54million-donations-god-told-get-fourth-private-jet/ Watch Video Here: https://metro.co.uk/video/preacher-wants-54m-donations-fourth-private-jet-1698424/?ito=vjs-link oam4j, lalasticlala
