It's not unusual for it to take this long during this period. Visa decisions usually take 6-8 weeks during normal periods so I'd imagine it will be a bit longer now that it's their peak period. You submitted September, that's roughly 8 weeks by my calculations so who knows, you might hear something soon. Be positive. Good luck kayla23: I applied in april 2025 against February 2026 resumption in griffith college dublin. Got my admission that same april and started preperations for visa same april, gathered money, wrote english test and did all necessary processes.
I applied for my visa in september 2025 thinking id get it by october, buy ticket against early january so i can go and hustle accommodation before school starts.
This is December and nothing, I cant make any plans at the moment cause i dont know what they are doing again.
I have spoken to the school about visa application withdrawal and they said they will refund the tuition deposit but theyd take a few deductions but i should please exercise patience with the embassy. |

When did you apply and when does your school resume? kayla23: I swear down
Almost as if no nigerians have applied this year to study in ireland , all i see are advertisement to come and study in ireland
This is very bad
The only reason i chose ireland was because my friend told me she got her visa in 3 weeks last year against her september session resumption.
I wonder what is happening this year. |

I'm sorry to hear that your visa application has been refused. I believe appeals take around 2 to 4 weeks (I'm not entirely sure) to process. I will advise you to consider reaching out to your school via email to find out if you still have enough time. If they give you the go-ahead, then you'll need to address the specific points outlined in the refusal letter and submit the necessary documents as soon as possible. Also, on the 2nd page of the letter, they made mention of some large deposits made six months before you applied. Make sure you address that on your appeal with documents showing where the money came from. Any story you tell them must be supported by an actual document otherwise they wont believe you. Good luck and I hope you receive a favourable response If you decide to appeal. Awesomeosas: Gurus in the house please I need your help on how to handle my appeal. I don’t even think the visa office checked my documents bcz all what Dey mentioned was included in my application.
1. I studied industrial mathematics in my first degree and I applied for data analyst and they are saying they are odd 2. I never had any gaps in my educational history which I explained very well to d best of my ability but they mentioned it 3. Before the increase in euro my total living expenses and bal sch fees is € 18,500 and I have €21,000 yet they mentioned it 4. I have a Registered business which is d source of my income and I also add all business documents and the investment I made which I included the agreement yet they mentioned it 5. I included my Canada refusal letter yet they mentioned that I did not 6. I also included my marriage certificate, pictures of my wedding and also included my landed properties documents yet they said I won’t return. 7. I applied for MSc but they address they fees payment as if I applied for BSc.
Pls how do I go about the appeal and what is the format. Please can someone help me out on how to address this appeal issues |

Pascal122: What month did you apply/get and did you pay all your school fees at once before applying?
I'm asking because someone said these factors make them give approval faster. Please let me know. Yes, I paid all of the fees, including a €300 deposit for school accommodation, before applying. I submitted my application on April 20th, and my documents were sent to the embassy on April 24th. My visa was approved on May 8th and I got my passport a week later on May 15th. |

Phraser: Thanks. Did you have to submit a Private Medical Insurance cover during your application? Yes, I did; it's a compulsory requirement. You should contact your school to see if they will provide one for you. If not, you will have to purchase one for yourself. Here's a link to a place where you can get one. It costs around €160. https://www.studyandprotect.com/Default.aspx |

I recommend reading the first page of this thread because I believe the answer to your question is there. You can also go to the Irish Immigration website and learn about the necessary documents. Here is the link on how to apply https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-study-in-ireland/what-are-my-study-visa-options/how-to-apply-for-long-term-study-visa/#guidePhraser: Well understood; thanks. If I may also ask: I plan to pay 50% of my tuition fee for the September session and the balance next January after landing in Ireland.
I understand the school fees receipt is part of the supporting document I am to submit at the VFS center. My question: does the fact that I will pay 50% of the school fees, rather than the full fees, impact my chances of receiving a visa?
I hope to hear from you. |

Phraser: Hey, man. Congrats on receiving a visa.
I'll soon apply for a student visa and want to ask you some questions, as I have found certain conflicting information online:
What is the process? What is the role of VFS Global in the visa application process? Where does one do the biometric thing?
(P.S.: I live in Lagos). i hope to hear from you.
Thanks. VFS global is basically a company that assists embassies in the collection of visa applications and supporting documents. They don't issue visas or have any influence over the outcome of applications; they simply help with the administrative aspects of the process, making it more convenient for both applicants and embassies. If you're ready to submit and have all of your documents, all you have to do is go to the vfs website to find a step-by-step guide on how to apply for and book a biometric appointment. The biometric and the collection of documents are done at the vfs center. This is the link to their website https://www.vfsglobal.com/en/individuals/index.html |
