Six new cases of coronavirus among the isolated returnees from Côte d’Ivoire has been confirmed by the Osun State Government summing the total case in the state to 20.

This is as the test on the samples of all the 127 returnees from the West African country was completed on Thursday.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, while confirming the report said all the persons at the isolation have been tested and 18 were positive.
He added that with the two initial cases, the state has a total of 20 persons infected with the virus.

According to him, all the cases have been moved to medical facilities in Ejigbo for treatment.

However, it was gathered that some residents were apprehensive in the town as the news of the infected cases filtered in.

Isamotu had told journalists at a press conference on Wednesday that the state has two isolation centers in the state capital and one in Ile-Ife, saying the state is fully ready to keep the handle the cases it has presently.

He added that the isolation center at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro in Osogbo is a 20-bed facility while there another at Mercyland Hospital.

The mayor of Igualada, Marc Castells, has announced today that Barça have made a commitment to play a benefit match in order to raise money for the ‘Consorci Sociosanitari Igualada (CSSI)’. Therefore, when circumstances permit, Barça will pay a visit to the Les Comes stadium to face CF Igualada to help the CSSI, an organisation formed by the Igualada City Council and the Social and Health Service of Catalonia and which offers social and health services to older people and those who are dependent in order to improve their quality of life and the independence. Helping those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19, the CSSI offers this service in the areas of Igualada and Anoia.

The announcement by Mayor Castells came during his daily press conference on the development of the coronavirus in one of the areas most affected economically and socially. The mayor stated that Barça had accepted the request made by the president of CF Igualada, Francesc Jorba, who was beside him at the press conference. “CF Igualada, together with FC Barcelona, would like to present to you this initiative which we greatly appreciate and I hope that it will provide excitement and make us aware that we are not alone; that there are many people outside of the Conca d’Òdena who love us and who are looking after us,” said Castells. He continued: “In moment like this you always find people who give you support, ideas and a vision and help to being you good news for when all this is over. Everything that is happening has an end point and as my grandfather used to say, when it has rained it has stopped raining.”

Castells explained that the blaugranes accepted the idea straight away in a telephone call on Wednesday evening. “Yesterday I had the chance to talk to the president of FC Barcelona and his first vice president Jordi Cardoner, whose family comes from the area of Igualada and he told me that we could make the annoucement in a council meeting at Igualada together with the mayors form the rest of the area of Conca d’Òdena.”

Francesc Jorba, president of CF Igualada, gave more details of how the initiative came about. “A few days ago the sporting committee at Igualada came up with the idea and they asked me: why don’t we contact Barça to see if they would like to play in a benefit match to help the health services in Igualada and la Conca? We sent an e-mail and we quickly got a positive respones and yesterday president Josep Maria Bartomeu phoned me. Duing the conversation he put the Club at our disposition and he was very worried about the situation in Igualada and la Conca. He said that the game between CF Igualada and FC Barcelona would be possible to raise money for the CSSI. We want to thank them for this ray of light in a moment of darkness and rain. Now we can see the sun coming out as it always does.”

La Conca d’Òdena, closed
La Conca d’Òdena was closed off on 12 March and that affects the municipalities of Igualada, Vilanova del Camí, Santa Margarida de Montbui and Òdena after a strain of the virus and some 20 positives case were detected by the Catalan Department of Health.

Six days later on 18 March there was a sharp rise in positives at Igualada Hospital, more than 200 and in Anoia there were 21 victims. The development of the pandemia has made la Conca d’Òdena ground zero in the current crisis in Catalonia and the area has one of the highest death rates due to coronavirus in Europe.

Up until Wednesday 1 April, 98 people have died due to the outbreak at Igualada Hospital and there some 154 professional heath workers in Anoia who have tested positive for Covid-19.

A local national who had recently stayed in Italy has been confirmed as Ivory Coast first coronavirus case, the government said on Wednesday.
Africa has so far mostly escaped large numbers of cases of the epidemic that has spread across 110 countries since first emerging in China in December.

The Ivorian case is a 45-year-old man whose symptoms were detected on Tuesday and who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, the country’s health ministry said in a statement.

He was quickly taken care of in an Abidjan hospital and his clinical status is stable, the ministry said.
All people the man had contacted have been identified and authorities were following up, it said.
There are around 20 cases in Sub-Saharan Africa so far in South Africa, Nigeria, DR Congo, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Senegal and Togo, according to the WHO, which is far less than most other regions outside the continent.

President Muhammadu Buhari says law enforcement agencies have recovered over N3.7billion as well as various assets worth billions of Naira from contractors and former directors of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The President disclosed this at the inauguration of NDDC Advisory Committee, comprising 9 Governors of the Niger Delta Region and the Ministers of Niger Delta Affairs and Environment.

Specifically, President Buhari said: ‘‘To date, the EFCC and other agencies of Government have recovered over N3.7billion in cash as well as various assets worth billions of Naira from some contractors and former Directors of the Commission.

‘‘Furthermore, I am told that Government agencies have placed liens on over N6 billion of assets which are being investigated.’’
The President told the committee that these abuses of the past clearly show the need for strict and diligent oversight, going forward.

He, therefore, charged the newly inaugurated committee to discharge the new assignment diligently and effectively, working closely with the relevant ministries, adding that he looked forward to seeing positive changes in the affairs of the Commission as well as on the ground in the Niger Delta region.

President Buhari recalled that in 2016, his administration launched the “New Vision for the Niger Delta (NEVIND)”, aimed at bringing sustainable peace, security, infrastructure and human capital development to the region.

He said the medium to achieve this noble objective was through the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, NDDC and the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

The President, however, expressed regret that in the past these institutions were unable to deliver their mandates due to mismanagement.
‘‘As a result, the people of the Niger Delta were left with abandoned infrastructural projects and substandard social programmes which were designed to improve their living conditions.

‘‘It is to reverse this trend that I approved, in February 2020, the constitution of a 10-Man Presidential Monitoring Committee (PMC) as provided for in Section 21 of the NDDC Establishment Act.’’
He noted that the PMC, which will be chaired by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and its members drawn from various MDAs, will focus on monitoring the operations and activities of the commission, and will be reporting to him.

In the same vein, the President said the inauguration of the NDDC Advisory Committee is in line with the provisions of Section 11 (I) of the NDDC Establishment Act, explaining that the Committee is charged with the responsibility of advising the Board and monitoring its activities.
Justifying the decision to inaugurate the Committee ahead of the reconstitution of the NDDC Board, President Buhari said:

‘‘This is to enable us develop insights into the affairs of the Commission which will properly guide the Board when reconstituted once the Forensic Audit exercise on the Commission is concluded.
‘‘You may recall that the Federal Executive Council, on the 5th of February, 2020 approved the appointment of the Lead Forensic Auditors. I am told they are concluding their pre-engagement activities and should be ready to commence work soon’’.

Speaking on behalf of the members of the Advisory Committee, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State thanked the President for inaugurating the Committee and granting the request of the governors, from the region for a forensic audit of the NDDC.
The Governor expressed hope that the result from the forensic audit would help streamline activities of the NDDC with a view to putting it on course to deliver on its mandate to the people.

Underscoring the roles of the Advisory Committee, the Delta State Governor noted that for sustainable development of the region, the NDDC must perform its duties in close collaboration with the States to avoid duplication of projects.

‘‘We do not want to criticise what has happened in the NDDC for quite some time, but the fact is that the cooperation between the states and the NDDC has not been strengthened overtime and we have various cases of duplication of projects that are not properly planned.

‘‘But I believe that with the inauguration of this body we will be able to sit down, meet together, work in collaboration and supportively to bring greater development to our people,’’ he said.

As the crisis within the APC in Edo state deepens, Governor Godwin Obaseki, the state governor, yesterday denied claims made by supporters of his predecessor and APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, that the latter facilitated his emergence as governor of the state.
Obaseki denied the claims at a meeting organised by members of the APC in the state to ratify the suspension of Oshiomole from the party. He stressed that no one made him a governor and that his emergence as a governor is by the grace of God.

Speaking at the meeting, Obaseki who has been in a running battle with Oshiomole, the APC National Chairman, said he is not happy with the recent political developments in the state, especially the disruptions from a once-trusted leader who has thrown caution to the wind to cause disaffection among APC members in the state.

While speaking to the party faithfuls, the governor said when he first met Oshiomhole 12 years ago, they shared a common interest in salvaging Edo State but all that has changed in recent times.

I am not an ungrateful person. No one made me governor. I became governor by God’s grace, with the support of many other people. If God had said I would not be governor, no way would I have been a governor. It is wrong for someone to say he made me governor.

It has been confirmed earlier this morning that another storey building has collapsed in Ojuelegba Lagos state about 8:40pm after the collapse of three storey building.

A journalist who visited the affected area said that no live was lost during the incident but it has not been really confirmed actually base on the report giving to us by some people leaving there they gave there speech to the journalist they said that those leaving in that storey building have already vacate the building before incident.

According to the tenants leaving around there they said that the building started collapsing by giving some crack since October 18, 2019.
Mr Emeka Anozie residing in that area said that after one of the window collapsed around 7pm he informed the remaining tenants about the issue at hand telling them to come out quickly, they after altering them about few minutes the building collapsed The NAN also learnt that LASBCA (Lagos State Building Control Agency) had on March 2019 marked the building and warned the tenants to vacate the building as well as the landlord.

It was noticed that on May 21 the LASBCA issued another warning to the landlord, Dr. Olufemi Oke Osanyintolu Director General LASEMA said that after he mobilize his team to ensure protection of lives people in that area. He reported the issued to the environment and safety officials of Lagos state to demolished the building.

Segun Awosanya, an activist popularly known as segalink, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to conduct an investigation into a bullion van that allegedly brought a large tranche of cash into Bola Tinubu's Lagos home on the eve of the 2019 presidential election.

The anti-corruption agency has requested petitions on the politicians displaying "wealth that can't be justified".

Tinubu is was a strong ally of President Muhammadu Buhari and a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress.


The commission had posted on its social media that it is empowered by the law to investigate anyone suspected of having illicit funds.

“Section 7(1) of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004 gives us the power to investigate properties of any person if it appears to the commission that the person’s lifestyle and extent of the properties are not justified by his source of income,” the commission tweeted.

Reacting to the tweet, Segalink queried the anti-graft agency for keeping mum when evidence of a bullion van was seen moving into the Bourdilion residence of Tinubu.

Segalink tweeted, “I’m sure this section only gives you an erection when it concerns Yahoo Boys and opposition politicians.

"While the miraculous self aggrandisers in bed with those the head of the EFCC worships are immune to investigation. “Daylight bullion van exhibition of Bourdillon is justified right?”


During the 2019 presidential election, a bullion van was seen entering the house of Tinubu in Ikoyi. When the politician was quizzed about it by journalists, he dismissed the question, saying he held no public office and could choose to spend his money as he wished.

The anti-graft agency, however, defended its record, insisting that it had secured convictions of former governors and other politically exposed persons.


It stated, “Not to toe the line of politics as you may wish but the EFCC has successfully investigated, prosecuted and secured over 1, 245 convictions between 2015 and 2019 which included two former governors, several top government functionaries both in the past and present dispensations. Applaud us.”


An adamant Segalink, however, posted the picture of bullion vans entering Tinubu’s home on the eve of the 2019 presidential election.

The activist, who spearheaded the #EndSARS the movement said the EFCC should take action on the bullion van incident before it would be respected by Nigerians. He tweeted, “Let me splash some colours on this to make it simpler to comprehend. Your tweet claims that all the EFCC requires to hunt down citizens is the display of wealth that can’t be justified. What justified the relocation of CBN to Asiwaju’s house on Bourdillon on the eve of the election?”

The EFCC, however, asked Segalink to forward a petition to any of its offices on the matter. “Kindly forward your petitions to Info@EFCCNigeria.org or visit any of

our zonal offices or head office to submit a copy of your petition,”
the EFCC said.
