There's a trending wedding invitation card on the internet where young people about to be married have boldly stated on their wedding card "NO RECEPTION". This is quite thrilling as such is coming from a country where reception is more important than event itself. So, no time, go home after church. For those who are in the habit to call to know if they've dismissed from church so they can turn up for reception, sorry oooo

*A'Ibom Tribunal: Udom, PDP Makes Case For Ekere, APC* _...deceiving Udom an immediate business opportunity for his team_ “The APC has failed to establish any case in the matter, so their petition against the election of Gov. Udom (PDP) should be struck out." The above statement is credited to Lead Counsel for Deacon Udom. This isn't just to deceive the remnant supporters of the Deacon but a prima facie bait for the stranger Governor. The business plan is to have him spend convincingly going forward in the hope that there would be a super man outing by his legal team. Anyone without knowledge of the case before the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal may be vulnerable to the lie expressed in the Counsel's statement above. This may likely be the fate with our Lagos based Governor. The case has records from where the principal witness of the 2nd Respondent (PDP), Sen. Ibok Essien adjudged the elections to be the freest and fairest ever in the history of the State, yet under cross-examination, couldn't even locate his name in the voter register for his area despite his admission of accreditation and voting. It is important to point out that contrary to the confidence clone in the Counsel's statement, the respondent’s lawyers have made a shambolic representation at the tribunal evident in the quality of witnesses paraded to defend INEC's fraud of March 9th, 2019. Gov. Udom Emmanuel, in his defence brought before the tribunal witnesses that were either not accredited to vote or whose names were not even in the voter's registers and despite ineligibility, admitted to having voted for Deacon Udom. Though ironic but logically true that all the respondents' witnesses added life to the petition. It was late in the day for INEC (the 3rd respondent) to suddenly realise that 'bringing more witnesses was not going to help their case'. Election Petition Tribunal would be committed to justice and continue to remain the hope of the ordinary Nigerian. Institutions of state such as INEC cannot be allowed to commit a crime that is not just treasonous but capable of incitement and threat to national security. #JusticeForONE #JusticeforALL |

Uganda may simply be having an expanded number of HIV/Aids and other explicitly transmitted infections related cases after a report uncovered that the East African country is running short in the accessibility of condoms. As per the report, in spite of the fact that the nation’s service of wellbeing is denying it, individuals can’t get condoms effectively when they need it. The shortage results from the withdrawal of giver help subsidizing to the division. Uganda needs around 240 units of condoms in a year yet have just 132 units accessible this year.

Those who said government disobeyed Court orders are the same people faulting the government for obeying court orders. Lols. Listen, guys! Sowore's in trouble. I have been saying this right from time. Sowore must now plead like this: "Sorry, sir. I was only joking with the word REVOLUTION. Who am I to stage a revolution against a constituted government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? In fact, I didn't know what revolution means. I honestly didn't know what I was getting myself into. Forgive me sir." Then, he must promise that he will never try that NONSENSE again and that henceforth, he will be a responsible citizen. He must promise to never get anywhere close to a fugitive Nnamdi Kanu so long as he lives. He must also promise to disassociate himself from anything that has to do with IMN. Sowore must stop relying on legal advises from my brother Inibehe Effiong. He must also stop taking everything Femi Falana says. The charges against Sowore are serious. If he continues to do gra gra, he will definitely go down for many years.

It is no longer news that INEC failed to open its defence at the ongoing Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, where Obong Nsima Ekere (APC) is challenging INEC over the declaration Udom Emmanuel (PDP) as winner of the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial elections. INEC’s Lead Counsel, Sylvia Ogemuo (SAN) explained that after due consideration, INEC calling witnesses to testify will serve no useful purpose to the case. In opening their respective defences, the witness of both Gov. Udom (1st Respondent) and PDP (2nd Respondent) insisted that the Smart Card Reader (SCR) was the only means that was used for accreditation as ticking the voters' register was only an alternative. Their witnesses during cross-examination would at all times resort to heaping blames regarding the voters register on INEC. It was discovered that Eket, Ukanafun, Ikono, Oron, Abak, Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin, Obot Akara among other LGAs had partial or zero accreditations recorded in the voters register, with Ukanafun recording outrageous over voting and alteration of results in favour of the PDP. A close examination of INEC Guidelines specifically in paragraph 10(a) states that; In accordance with Section 49 (2) of the Electoral Act, a person intending to vote shall be verified to be the same person on the Register of Voters by use of the Smart Card Reader (SCR) in the manner prescribed in these Regulations and Guidelines. Section 10 (f) states further the following protocol: (i) request for the permanent voter's card; (ii) check the Register of voters to confirm that the voter’s name, details, and Voter Identification Number (VIN) are as contained in the Register of Voters; (iii) tick the appropriate box of the horizontal boxes on the right margin beside the voter’s details on the Register, showing the category of the election, if the person's name is on the Register of Voters; (iv) tick the appropriate box at the left margin of the Voter's details in the case of SCR Failure to Read (FR) or Failure to Authenticate (FA). It is rather unfortunate that INEC AKS headed by Barr. Mike Igini superintended over an election that was a total departure from prescribed guidelines as 70% of voters in the register was not "TICKED" thereby imposing, by illogically writing result, a Governor on the people. The judiciary which is the hope of the common man is expected in the days to come to right these wrongs, for sake of keeping to judicial prudence and on the other hand bring perpetrators of electoral fraud to books. #JusticeForONE #JusticeForALL

“Nigeria has very attractive investment opportunities with some of the highest Returns-on-Investment,” President Muhammadu Buhari declared in Yokohama, Japan on Thursday. Presenting the country’s Statement at Plenary Session Three on “Public-Private Business Dialogue” at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), the President said he looked forward to prospective investors making inroads “in the following priority sectors in Nigeria, namely, power and renewable energy, petrochemical and gas, maritime (shipping and ports), automobiles, mining, agribusiness, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, ICT and railway.” Assuring potential investors of good returns as a result of ongoing reform measures taken by his administration, he added: “I have also established a Presidential Committee on Enabling Business Environment, which is made up of key Ministries and prominent businessmen to promote the Ease of Doing Business and make Nigeria more attractive and competitive for investment.” Similarly, President Buhari said that his administration was “committed to removing all impediments to private sector participation in these sectors by creating policies that will ensure consistency, predictability and a level playing field for all.” Having identified power, transportation, infrastructure, maritime/shipping, agro-processing, mining, manufacturing, petro-chemicals, food processing and textiles among others, as “key drivers to the diversification” of the Nigerian economy as well as “priority areas that will drive our Economic Agenda,” the President said he looked forward to “welcoming prospective investors to Nigeria.” Reviewing Nigeria-Japan relations, President Buhari commended existing bonds of friendship and economic cooperation between both countries, describing the Asian country as “a strategic partner for our socio-economic development.” He disclosed Nigeria’s intention to “further encourage relationships with key public and private sector stakeholders” in both nations. The Nigerian leader expressed particular delight with the level of “discussions on the establishment of the Japan-Nigeria Business Facilitation Council, an initiative of the Japanese government, which would be launched on our return to Nigeria,” adding that, “I look forward to positive reports of increased trade and investment between Nigeria and Japan from these initiatives.” Describing the TICAD Forum as important to Nigeria in many respects, President Buhari said it “coincides with the period when the country is faced with a number of challenges that affect our economy.” Noting that his administration “has put in place measures seeking to diversify the economy by developing agriculture, emphasising on manufacturing and addressing the energy and infrastructure deficit,” he expressed confidence that, “With these we shall be placing Nigeria on the path of rapid growth and sustainable development.” According to the Nigerian President, TICAD is also “coming at a time when our government is implementing home-grown and private sector-driven economic measures that are predicated on good governance, infrastructure and human capital development as well as, business climate reform.” The above domestic measures, he explained, informed his invitation to “the private sector to come and invest in Nigeria.” According to him, “Nigeria and indeed Africa, expect much from this Forum in terms of investment, considering the role of Foreign Direct Investment in all economies - developed and developing.” President Buhari also expressed Nigeria’s gratitude to the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, “for his unwavering commitment to strengthen trade and investment between Japan and Africa through various initiatives, partnership and support of the Japanese Government.” He also wished TICAD7 “fruitful deliberations and hope that the conclusions reached will enhance access by African countries to international capital investment as well as boost Japan-Africa exchanges by developing new and strategic public and private sector alliances.” Femi Adesina Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) August 29, 2019

The attention of the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio (CON) has been drawn to an article circulating online titled: “Judgement for sale in Akwa Ibom State National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal” in which the author made allegations against the Chairman and members of the National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal, and wishes to totally dissociate himself from the publication. The Honourable Minister could not have been privy to the allegations made against the Judicial Officers because as a Senior Member of the Bar and a Party in the matter pending before Their Lordships, he understands the need to allow the Judges to decide the cases according to the facts. Moreover, Senator Akpabio as the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs cannot be said to be desperate to win a Senate seat but he is only contesting the outcome of the INEC manipulated results in order to ensure Justice and sustenance of democratic practice in Nigeria. Senator Akpabio is shocked by the spurious allegation made by the Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Barrister Uwemedimo Nwoko, in a rejoinder to the said article, alleging that he “succumbed to blackmail and handsomely paid Barrister Leo Ekpenyong to recapitulate.” The fact is that Ekpenyong withdrew the petitions against Senator Akpabio voluntarily, when his clients made a volte face and could not substantiate their claims as contained in Ekpenyong’s affidavit which he swore to before a court of law as evidence of voluntary withdrawal of those false petitions. Moreover, Ekpenyong’s client as mentioned in the stated affidavit is linked to the current Government of Akwa Ibom State and its officials. As an Elder Statesman, a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, a former Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate and a former boss to Barrister Nwoko, decorum demands that he accords Senator Akpabio some respect. The Attorney General should substantiate his wild allegation or offer an unreserved apology to Senator Akpabio. Senator Akpabio is a democrat who believes in the rule of law, and this informed his decision to approach the Tribunal after the charade by the Mike Igini-led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State. Having attended many sessions of the Tribunal and indeed testified as a Competent Witness, Senator Akpabio is confident that justice will be done. He has an abiding faith in the judicial system to dispense justice without fear or favour, affection or ill will. He does not believe that any member of the Panel has a propensity to tarnish his hard- earned reputation by engaging in “judgement for sale” as alleged. The Attorney General should also have reprimanded his PDP stalwart, Dr Chris Ekpenyong, whose aides have severally alleged on social media of attempts to influence the Panel judges in favour of APC with the sum of N5 billion. At the moment, the Honourable Minister is preoccupied with settling down in his new national assignment and would not want to be dragged into a matter he knows nothing about. Finally, the Minister cautions paid agents of the Akwa Ibom State Government to allow the Judges to dispense justice without fear or favour as the continuous and relentless sponsored adverts, are aimed at creating fear, intimidation and are capable of truncating the popular will of the people freely given to the APC. Anietie Ekong Special Assistant on Media to the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

The Akwa Ibom State candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the March 9,2019 governorship election, Obong Nsima Ekere said that the essence of him and his party being at the state governorship election petition tribunal is to seek justice for the entire Akwa Ibom people and to set good electoral and judicial precedents in the country. Speaking to news men through his lead counsel, Barr. J.S. Okutepa SAN after the court session on Tuesday August 26, Ekere opined that the electoral process start with accreditation and end with declaration and return, and that if one of the process misses, the process cannot be said to be valid. "What took place in Akwa Ibom State on March 9,2019 did not followed INEC guidelines and known electoral act and principles." "We came to the tribunal because Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC),a supposed electoral umpire, decided to be partisan. Accreditation of voters is the first foundation any election rest on, and was not carried out by them during the election. Our problem is not who they (INEC) declared as the winner of that election. Our problem is, how did the person so declared emerged." "It may interest you to know that we have tendered certified true copy of INEC documents. We did not get them from the moon.We got them from INEC.In law, documents speak for themselves. We have tendered those documents before the Lordships at the tribunal. It is on this premise that we want justice in this case because we came for justice". "We have proven our case of violence, thuggery, substantial non-compliance with known electoral laws and INEC guidelines beyond every reasonable doubt, and the tribunal needs to dispense justice without fear or favour". According to Ekere," justice precedes judgement. The tribunal should not go for judgement; but justice". #JusticeForONE #JusticeForALL

https://uncommonreporters.com.ng/2019/08/25/fg-to-undertake-situation-analyses-of-projects-in-ndelta-akpabio/ By Abasifreke Effiong The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said the federal government will undertake situation analyses of projects excited in the region. Senator Akpabio disclosed this when Youth for Peace and Development in Niger Delta paid him a courtesy call on Friday 23, August 2019, in his office in Abuja. He said the analyses of the projects will enable the Buhari’s administration to assess the impact of federal government’s activities and programmes in the region. Akpabio said the analyses will guide the formulation of new policy and programmes aimed to address challenges in the region. The Minister promised to visit each State in the region to assess the immediate situation on ground and report back to the President. He also promised that everything would be put in place to ensure that the President commissions at least one key project in each State of the region in the next 24 months. Senator Akpabio noted that his appointment and that of Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN was not a coincidence but a deliberate policy of Mr. President to appoint them as they are sons of the region and therefore acquainted with the needs and expectations of the people. . Akpabio assured the youths that the President is committed to changing the face of the region and charged them to take his message home “that the era of crying and suffering is over.” The Coordinator of the group, Youth for Peace And Development in Niger-Delta, Comrade Joseph Opuama, thanked Mr. President for the appointment of Sen. Akpabio and Mr. Keyamo, to rescue the ugly situation facing the Niger Delta region. The Chairman of the group pleaded with the Minister to pay more attention to the East-West road, which according to him has become a death trap to the people of the region. Comrade Opuama also called on the Minister to strengthen the process of human capital development and youth empowerment in the region. The youth group pledged to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure that there is total peace in the region. ©UNCOMMON REPORTERS
