But as I said (from Allah we are and to him we shall return) can also be as an exclamation especially on hearing bad news as Allah has said in the. Holy Quran surah 2 verse 156 (I hope you don't mind checking it up )while Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar (We thank Allah and Allah is great respectively) are used to praise Allah especially during happy moments, if u could read thru the story once more, I believe u'll understand why my mum (in one case) exclaimed such. I love your writing style but you can try and work on your tenses, try and describe the scenes so readers can picture what's really happening and above all as people suggested, read more and write more. We all learn everyday.
Once again, sorry for the loss and kudos to your courage to pen down the tragic event with a very beautiful and touching description.. #Extend my greetings to your 'Mr' *winks*

Nuges11: As for what I think of the story, I think its a touching story well delivered, no doubt you're a good writer.

As for tips on how to get better, well, the only thing I can say now is you should read more and write more, it sure helps.

As an observation, I want to believe you skipped some details coz you wanted to keep the whole thing short. In your other works you might want to give more details about your 'passive' characters (an example in this case could be that your friend in class). It helps in painting bigger pictures in the mind of your readers and makes your work a little more interesting.
