Her friend Mawara always used to inquire about Sikander, in the same way good friends tease their friends about their spouse-to-be, but suprisingly Komal never felt any heart-throbbing emotion for him whenever Mawara talked about him.

"What about this guy of yours?" Mawara had once asked.

"Sikander? What about him?"

"How's he?"

"Not bad I guess." Komal began to polish her nails carelessly. "He is always busy with his business stuff you know."

"Komal, are you happy with this relationship?" Mawara's question was sudden and unexpected.

"Which one?"

"Come on, I mean your relationship with him."

"Miss Mawara..." Komal said quickly, forgetting her nails for a while. "For your information, we don't have any relationship yet. We're not even engaged officially and properly."

"Okay....okay." Mawara raised her hand, stopping her from saying more. "I mean, are you happy with what your father said about him being your future husband?"

"Yeah I'm. Am I not supposed to be?"

"But do you love him?"

"Listen my friend. The set up to which we eastern girls belong doesn't give us much choice. We have to obey our parents, no matter if their choice suits us or not, and I'm no different. But really I'm happy. I have left everything to God. I'm sure He will do well with us."

"But that's not the answer of my question." Mawara shook her head in frustration.

"I asked, do you love him?" Mawara glared at her.

"I'll try to love him definitely. Like most Pakistani girls do after marriage." She laughed coldly.

"I know." Mawara took a cold breath. "He is not your ideal."

"Yeah, but I don't think it matters alot. He is too cold to be my ideal. I like friendly, charming men, who could give me full attention and care. But Sikander doesn't have much time for me." Komal said blankly.

"But he can change." Mawara argued.

"Change?" Komal raised her brows in a gesture of disbelief. "Don't you know, a woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't, while a man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does." She laughed, but at Mawara, it clearly looked like an artificial act.

"Why? He looks so nice."

"Did I say he's not?" Komal's tone was colder this time. "He sure is a very nice 'business man'. My father can't trust any wrong person for his business and........well for his daughter."

"Know what Komal?" Mawara gave her a friendly look. "Value this relationship. You are lucky that your parents have seen some nice man for you in this bad era when most girls are still waiting for good proposals.

"I don't care about that." Shaking her hair, Komal had finally said.

After that birthday incident, Sikander talked to Komal only one more time on the topic, and she could guess that is was more of her father's wish that made him to talk about the same topic again.

It was four months after her birthday that they met on the dinning table, alone in her house.

"Hello Komal." As usual his soft voice was devoid of any expression.

"Hi."

"I wanted to know your answer."

"You already had one, if I am not forgetting."

He drank the glass of mineral water, without looking at her; his eyes seemed almost robotic.

"You didn't give me a clear cut reply." He said as he gulped down the cold water.

"Oh." Her brows rose automatically. "I thought you were wise enough to....."

"It is wise enough to have clear cut answers in such important matters instead of wasting time playing tricks and games." He cut in sharply, and for the first time she thought he was finally going to lose his temper.

"I'm not playing any tricks or games Mr. Sikander."

"Why?" As he spoke, she could note the mild amusement glistening from his eyes. "I suppose you're still young enough to play games."

"Yeah, thay's why you were proposing to me the other day." She laughed with sheer satire.

"I didn't say that we were getting married on the very next day." He said, now once again back to his cold, plain style.

"I'm sorry." She replied quickly. She had decided not to waste her time, energy and mind by talking with such man who was well-known for his 'business stamina' and 'talking energy'.

"The answer is 'no'." She finally said.

He looked unaffected, like he had already guessed it.

"May I ask why?"

She didn't reply, just brushed her lips with the fragrant tissue paper and got up to leave.

"Do you hate me?" He asked suddenly.

She thought for few moments, and then came to conclusion that she had, infact, no feelings for him. No love, no hate.

"No." She said and reached near the room window.

"Do you find me repulsive then?"

His question startled her, and almost without realizing it she made a physical inventory of him, accepting again that some women would admit the tall, lean figure and the dark precise features.

"I simply feel 'nothing' for you Mr. Sikander."

"Would you mind telling me the reason?" He asked again.

"That's because your character's like an iceberg most of the time---three quarters hidden!" She told him.

"Ice bergs melt, given sufficient warmth." He whispered.

She pretended not to hear and stared through the window as if she had never seen England before.

"I hope you've got what you wanted to know." She said turning, and then seeing no response from him, she turned on her heels and walked out of the room.

Since then, they never talked about it again. Their conversation had always been very formal and couldn't increase more than typical 'hello and hi'.

Phoenix619: All these are your own opinions even though they sound silly as it is. Can you provide any reference to back up your Claims?

What is?
Mind you, These are not my own opinions. I just answered the questions based on what I was taught in school. If you could look up verses in Suratul Bakarah in the quran and various hadiths from Sahih Bukhari or other hadith books, u'll confirm that. I can't quote any because I don't have them offhead but am sure they are there.

As for the ultimate prize, we'll have to be there first to confirm.

If you think this is silly, why don't you provide your own opinions which are not silly. *SMH*. No offence, please are you a muslim?

'Sikander Riza, the ruler', as her father privately dubbed him, was second-in-command of the company her father had built into one of the largest in U.K.

Well bred, educated, and well off in his own right, he had joined it from one of their main competitors, and had qucikly became Managing Director. He had eyesight fixed on the stars. Getting to the top was his prime ambition, and he was intelligent and hardworking enough to be well on the way there.

"I thank the day Sikander joined me," Her father often used to say. "It will be hard replacing him if he leaves."

If her father hadn't thrown him at her as a suitable husband from the time she was sixteen, she might have found him tolerable. But knowing he was regarded as a surrogate son had made her react against him.

How and when it had all started?" She could still recall very well. After all, it was her sixteenth birthday

Now, that was another thing that had turned out to be 'bitter sixteen' for her instead of a 'sweet sixteen' one.

"Hello Komal, enjoying yourself?" He had asked in a typical, casual voice. Impeccable in grey dinner jacket and black trousers that emphasized his physique, his pale grey eyes regarded her unblinkingly.

"Very much, and you?" She asked back formally.

He nodded.

"May I have a word with you in private?"

Short of being rude, she couldn't refuse, and stifling her impatience, she preceded him into her father's study.

What on earth did he want? Impatiently she tapped one small foot as he went to standby the fireplace.

"You're leaving for college on Monday, I believe." He said conversationally.

"Yes."

"Then I'm glad I can speak to you tonight. I'm going abroad for a while, and this is the only chance I'll have of seeing you until your holidays."

So what?" She thought irritably. She hardly saw him anyway.

"A little birthday gift," He said, holding it out. "I didn't want to put it with the others in the hall."

Taking a flat, square black box from his hand, Komal opened it slowly and gasped.

On a bed of black velvet lay an excellent necklace of real, true pearls all arranged evenly. Involuntarily, Komal brought a finger to touch the brightly colored pearls.

She loved it at first sight, although hated the fact that Sikander was giving it. However, she didn't let her feelings reveal through her face.

"Thank you, it's a nice one." She said.

"I'm glad you like it," He said tonelessly.

Komal was about to turn away from him when his voice gripped her feet.

"I'd like you to accept it as a combined birthday and engagement present." He went on. "To me, it seemed premature to buy a ring until you've given me your answer."

Speechlessly she stared at him.

"I'm asking you to marry me." He added.

He couldn't be serious!

But his expression showed he was, and the very idea infuriated her into replying.

"We hardly know each other. I've never even been out with you!"

"We've known each other for two years; I've seen you most times I've dinner here."

"Karim, our butler sees me everyday." She rejoined, referring to their servant. "But I don't expect him to propose to me!"

He swallowed but said nothing.

"I know exactly why you want to marry me, and it's got nothing to do with love." She said firmly without much expression.

"You're sure about that?"

"Actions speak louder than words, and yours can hardly be called lover-like!" She railed.

For several seconds Sikander remained silent, the increasig dark complexion of his skin being the only sign of anger. "I don't need to marry to secure dynasty, Komal. I'm quite capable of securing my own."

"Come off it," She retorted. "This company is ready made for you."

"What makes you certain I don't love you?" He countered, ignoring her comment.

"They way you behave, as I said, you've never even asked me out before."

"A mistake, I agree. But only because I thought you were too young to....."

"But mature enough to be your wife." She cut in sacarstically.

He took a very long breath and then said,

"But I'm honest....."

"Yes, no doubt about that. You've always been honest to your business, an excellent businessman and I'm just another piece of business to you! Only there's one thing you've forgotten."

"Which is?"

"That I can't be bought or taken over! Now if you don't mind, my friends are waiting for me."

Turning in her heel, she stalked out.

She hoped she had not come across too flat. But she had to be honest with him, and with herself. She glanced at Sikander as he came to join the guests once again; his face again spotless and without any expression, like nothing had happened at all.

One never knew with him. He rarely showed much expression, while she was an open book.

Same night, her father had announced in private that he'd want her to marry Sikander. He didn't actually force his decision but it was clear that Sikander was his only choice, and then it was not very easy for Komal to ignore or reject him specially when she had no one else in her mind.

"I'd want you to consider Sikander as the first man in your list, when the time comes." Her father had said.

"We've nothing in common." She protested.

"Sure you have, he likes this country. Like you, he is not conservative, and he's interested in art; same as you."

"You must be joking Dad! He's never even talked about love to me."

"When have you given him the chance? As soon as you see him, you rush off as if your tail's on fire."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning is clear. Spend time with him; try to understand each other. That's what a successful marriage needs." Her father said finally.

Komal tried picturing being married to him, no highs, no lows, no quarrels and no passion.

How boring!

Not that she had ever actually fancied him! They were too disparate: he was cold where she was warm, analytical where she was intuitive and reserved where she was impulsive.

@OP, as you said every man will be rewarded with a hurul ayn (maidens) but his wife or wives on earth will be their leader/leaders. According to the Holy quran, All women in jannah will equally be turned to as beautiful as a hurul ayn or even more. As for their reward, they will all be rewarded with an eternal life of peace, love and comfort. Nothing will be lacked jannah.

About those who diead unmarried, according to the holy quran and various hadiths (which unfortunately I can't bring forth now, due to some reasons but am sure I know dem) there are also many male hurul ayns just for every pious muslimah who dies unmarried (please, they are not marrying Prophet Muhammad S.A.W). But there will not be 72 males for every one but rather one for each muslimah. There is also no any authenthic verse from the quran or hadith that states men will be given 72 virgins who have the ability to become revirginised. Please stop spreading false knowledge on Islam.

Again, sex is not the ultimate prize for earthly piety, there are lots and lots of rewards for any pious believer which Allah knows best. For your information, Women do not come first. The life after death is just imaginable to us but Allah knows best.

Deiok: I thought Aariz doesnt believe too much in God or so i thought.

And why will komal father want his assistant to marry his daughter, when she is not too old to still be single. Me thinks he wants a man that will be his son-inlaw and thesame time be incharge of his firm.

Well nice one as always.
Pakistanis (or should I say Muslims) have a tradition of getting their daughters engaged at a very tender age when the right proposal comes.

Its not like in Naija where a Lady will be 28 and her parents are not worried about her being single grin.

"Engaged?"

At first, he couldn't believe his ears but then a wave of involuntary shock hit him. For a moment he stood there dry-mouthed, rooted to the spot.

What was she talking about?

"Come on Komal." He murmured breathlessly. "Tell me this is some kind of sick joke."

"This is not some sick joke. It's a healthy reality which makes me sick." She sobbed.

"My mind just doesn't accept you being engaged." He still didn't want to believe.

"Well....well not really." She stammered thickly.

"What do you mean by 'not really'?" Aariz shrugged his shoulders, his hearts drowning. "I'm sorry, I don't have any idea what you are talking about!"

"I.....I can explain." She gathered her nerves and began to say...

"There was no tradition, no celebration. But it's my parents' decision. Just one day my father announced that he's seen some good guy for me, and we'd be suitable for each other, that's all."

"That's all?"He laughed emptily.

"Listen Aariz. It's not appropriate to talk about this in front of my house and when it's already....."

She paused to glance at her watch. "Oh my God, it's almost three a.m."

Without saying a word, he turned. Taking slow, tired steps, he walked to his car.

"Aariz, I'd call you tomorrow. We'll meet." As he ignited the engine, he heard Komal's voice.

But he didn't answer.

There was not much to say now, was there?

*****************

Next day, the first thing she did was to dail Aariz's number.

"Yes?" The same pure masculine voice came from the other side and her heart started to beat faster.

"Aariz, it's me." She murmured slowly.

From the other side, she heard a long, tired breath.

"I'm leaving for London tomorrow." She announced.

"Good bye, have a nice trip." He said in a very formal voice, without much expression.

"Aariz...."She sobbed. "Don't do this to me. You know very well that I can't live without you."

"Then what can I do about that?" He asked.

"If my parents have seen some guy for me it doesn't necassarily mean that I agreed too." She said firmly. "He's not my ideal, and I don't like him an inch."

"So?"

"So, my feelings are the same, and I'm the same Komal for you. But....."

"But?" He repeated.

"Aariz....."

"Hmmmm?"

"I.....I'm scared."

"Of what?"

"What if my parents objected?" She asked fearfully.

"We'd revolt." He said firmly and seriously. "We belong to this new millennium, and we're bold and courageous enough to take our future in our own hands."

"So....." He wisphered romantically. "What therefore God has joined together, let no man seperate."

"But do you really think God had joined us together?" She shook her head, a mass of nut-brown hair brushing her shoulders.

"He will, as soon as we get married." He smiled soberly.

"Do you believe marriages are arranged in heaven but are celebrated on earth, like they say?" Komal asked, curious to know his opinion.

"Umm. Yes." He said thoughtfully. "I do believe that if God has made your match with someone, you'd get him somehow, no matter how much obstacles come into your way."

"But Komal," His voice suddenly acquired an angry tone. "I have some objection."

"What's that?"

"Why didn't you tell me about your engagement before?" He asked.

"I was not sure of myself." Komal said breathlessly. "I didn't trust my feelings then."

He was silent at her comment. Absently, he pulled a plate of biscuits in front of him, holding the reciever with the other hand.

"What about my engagement?" Komal asked after a short interval.

"What about it?" He asked casually.

"What do I do about it now?" Konal asked in a low voice.

He put a biscuit halfway between his teeth and then 'cracked' it forcefully.

"Break it!"

Her eyes widened to their extremes.

"But how?"

"Bring me in the picture. Present me as a substitute to your parents." He swallowed the biscuit and took a fine sip of his tea. "That'll do it."

"You make it all seem so easy." She smiled sadly.

"That's simple." As he spoke, she could feel his voice smiling decently. "When one door closes, a better and bigger one opens!"

There was a short pause, and then he asked.

"Do you think you can convince your parents?"

"Yes," She said immediately. "They trust me, and I trust them. They would never want to do something against my will. They've always respected my happiness and wishes. But...."

"But?"

"I can see the real problem would probably arise from your side Aariz."

"What do you mean?" He asked sharply.

"I still can't see myself being welcomed with open arms." Komal said. "I'm from a different 'sect'."

"Dont be silly Komal." He muttered in frustration. "My father is not like that. He accepts people for who they are, and you're intelligent, ambitious and top in your field."

"And what about your mother?" She asked skeptically.

"Mother." He whispered thoughtfully. "She loves me more than anything else in this world. Moreover, she's an open minded and modern lady. She doesn't believe in forcing her opinions on others."

"Well." She said after breathing a short sigh. "Let's see."

"So?" Aariz asked in a low tone. "Who's this guy?"

"Who?" She asked back.

"The guy your parents have choosen for you."

"Well." Komal said with pure disinterest.

"He is my father's assistant. He is his second in command in our company."

"I see." Aariz said dryly.

"His brilliant skills and marvelous business tactics have given him more success than he expected. My father's company is now one of the most successful and powerful companies in England."

"What's his name by the way?" Aariz finally asked.

"Sikander......." She breathed. "Sikander Riza."

In the middle of the night, Komal awoke in a cold sweat.

With shaky hands, she took the glass full of water by her bedside to her trembling lips.

It's enough now.

She had to inform him. She had to tell him the fact that was eating her up like a dangerous dragon.

The telephone rang as Aariz was preparing for bed. He reached out one hand for the reciever, his other hand held his toothbrush.

"Yes?"

His voice was drowned in a sleepy way.

"Aariz?" The feminine voice rang like crystal chimes over the wires.

"Komal, is that you?"

"Are you alright, what happened?" With the telephone reciever wedged between his ear and shoulder, he went on brushing his teeth.

"I can't keep it inside me anymore, I've to tell you this."

"Yes, I'm here." He blinked his eyes fully, his sleep miles away. "Tell me, what you need to tell me."

"Not on the phone." She sobbed. "We need to meet and talk."

"But what's the matter?" Any problem?"

The answer was sighed rather than spoken.

"Aariz, I'm waiting for you at Sun cafe!"

And then she hung up the reciever.

He set the phone reciever back in its cradle and sighed. Within ten minutes, he was ready to meet her. He rushed toward Sun cafe in his Honda Accord, a famous cafe that was not far from his place.

When he reached there, he was suprised to find out that she was already waiting for him.

Her beauty, her charms and her vulnerability was so intense and effective that it didn't fail to inspire and impress hin even in thus tensed state and condition.

She had tied her gorgeous bright, nut-shining hair into a long ponytail and wore a quarter sleeved plain white shirt of bosky and nice fitting jeans that revealed most of the details of her extremely attractive legs. He noted with interest that she had a pair of shapely legs tapering smoothly from their joint to the ankle.

"Wow." He said, as she tood up to greet him. "You startle me, dazzle me even in yoour casual appearance."

"Wow yourself." She said without much expression. She ran one hand through her already tousled hair and sank into the chair.

"Now, what's the problem?" He asked, gazing deeply into her eyes.

She swallowed hard.

A waiter appeared and vaguely, she heard Aariz ordering black coffee.

By the time they were sitting in an isolated booth in the back of the cafe five minutes kater, she had found her voice.

"Aariz you have to listen with patience." She said huskily.

"For God's sake Komal, that's why I'm here. Please tell me now."

She opened her lips, her facial expression clearly showing the featuresbof war that was going on between her heart and mind.

"God, why does this happen to me?" She cried silently.

She needed to telk him things, wanted to inform him about all those essential facts, which were confusing her, making her frustrated.

"There are two big problems in our way, two major obstacles." She said, when at last she gained her breath.

"And what are those?"

"What would your parents think?" She asked, eyeing him critically.

"What would your relatives say? Would they accept me with open arms?"She asked another question, without waiting for his answer.

"Look Komal, it's my life. Do you have to live with my relatives and my parents or with me alone?"

"ButI don't want an isolated life." She protested.

"You know very well that I don't give a damn to these stupid social and religious restrictions or whatever." He said with firm belief. "It's my life and I have full right to spend or pass it in a way I like it. Frankly, it's none of my relative's business." He said harshly, his voice filled with emotion.

She couldn't reply, instead she just lowered her head.

Neither of then spoke much afterwards.

"Was this the reason why you called me at midnight and told me to reach here instantly?" He asked sarcastically.

She was silent.

He was angry, she knew.

They both rose from their chairs simultaneously.

"I hope I didn't hurt you." She said.

"No you didn't." His answer was quick and short as he accompanied her to the parking.

"I've my own car. You can go." She said as they reached the place where their cars were parked.

"Lady." He first looked at his wristwatch and then at her face. "It's two a.m and it's Karachi, a city of lights but a place of fights. You go and I'd follow you in my car to your house.

She didn't argue then, instead she just opened the door of her mercedes and got in.

As she drove, she could see in the back mirror, his car following hers.

He was caring, no doubt about that.

Few minutes later, she got out of her car and crossed the parking lot of her uncle's house.

By the gate, she turned back to throw one last look at him and stunned. He was standing wonderfully with his back tipped on his car, his arms crossed on his chest and his eyes fixed on her.

"I know what's making you worried and confused." Suddenly, words left his mouth in the most effective way, his tone heavy and serious. "We are from two different communities and sects, rights? One of us is Shiyah and the other is Sunni?" He gave her a slight smile.

"It's not just that." She opened her lips but her feet didn't leave her place.

"Then?"

She sighed and turned to face the man standing at her backside, for one last time.

"I.....I"

"Hmmm?" His brows curved upward.

"I.....am....." She gathered all of her courage and power to blast the bomb finally.

Yes, this was the time. This was the occasion and this was the moment to tell him the truth.

"I'm........engaged."

A tiny jolt shot through Komal's body, the touch of his eyes creating an actual physical sensation as they moved over her.

"I've never known the feelings I experienced with you." He began to say. "I smile eaxh day as I open my eyes and cry each night as I close them. I thought, thought and thought and then it occured to me that...."

He left his sentence unfinished, took a brief pause to see her rapidly changing facial expressions, a faint pink glow that spread upward to paint her cheeks, and then continued.

"I want you to belong to me. My dear girl, each day I love you more, I love you more than anyone or anything else in this world." He told her firmly, unshakably, meaning every word of it, "Believe it or not, but I really, truly, madly, deeply love you."

"I.....I" She stammered thickly, not knowing what to say.

"I am in love with you Komal, with all my heart and soul, and through out my life I've never been this sure about anything like I'm about my lobe for you. It's true, real and genuine." He confessed all in just one breath but left her breathless in return.

And Komal......She was speechless. She was too overwhelmed to speak anything. She again looked at the wonderful eyes- glittering with expectation to listen to affirmative- of his beloved. Their eyes locked and she detected compassion and love, love and love alone. There was no trace of lust. Aariz's eloquent eyes were shining radiantly with loud imploration.

"Do you love me?" He whispered, praying for a positive answer. "Please say yes to me, Komal! I'm dying to hear your yes. Don't deny me, Komal, don't deny me!"

Komal felt that all other emotion, namely; doubt, despair, anxiety, worry and all alike, fled into thin air and disappeared into the universe. Flowers of love bloomed all around in ones and twos around them. All the ugly changed to beauty. A heavenly fragrance hovered all around the large spacious place. All evils turned to virtue. Thousands of melodious notes, under the skilled baton of some cherubim, blended together to produce a divine music all around the room. Having controlled herself somehow, Komal whispered those three divin words, which, since time immemorial, had been spoken, are spoken at present, and will be spoken in every love-smitten heart as long as there will be love on this surface.

"I love you too," Still looking into the wonderful eyes of Aariz, from which love and affection had been very evident, she repeated and repeated. It seemed like his powerful eyes had completely hypnotized her, taking her into his strong magnetic trance.

"From the very first time I saw you, I said to myself, that is the kind of man I would like to be mine."

She placed her hand upon his to prove her point.....an affirmation......a pledge to him.

"Ah." He let out a long breath, which he has been holding for so long. "Thank you, my dear. Thank you so much."

"I don't want you to share anything of your life with anyone else, I want you to be my life partner, Komal. I want to marry you." He murmured.

"I......I need some time Aariz." She managed to say after some time.

"For what?"

"There are some things, some matters which have to be decided first."

He raised his brows but said nothing, perhaps not getting her point.

"You know Aariz. Marriage is such a big thing, we need to consider eaxh and everything." She said soberly, her tone more serious than ever now. "We should proceed slowly. There are some problems too. Sone big problems, infact."

"What problems?" The tensing of his jaw betrayed his frustration.

"I'd tell you when I have become sure of our relationship."

"Come one, you are not being realistic." He laughed sacarstically. "Here we are, confessing our feelings,.expressing our love for each other, and you're not sure yet?"

"Oh," She shook her head. "Don't get me wrong. It's not about what you're thinking. It's just that I need some more time to think and we need to talk about the matters which need to be settled first." She said in a low voice.

"Do you Aariz?" As she spoke, her voice felt like silk to him. "When and where a man likes a woman, he wants to become hers. But when a woman likes a man, she wants to become his need."

"You've already become my most wanted need, what else do you want now?" He said in a weird way.

She laughed at the face he made. "Don't be so desperate. We are not teenagers."

"That's why I am so desperate." He teased more. "We're old enough to get married."

"And how long will it take?" He asked thickly.

"I'm leaving for London this weekend. There are just three days left. I'd tell you earlier than that." She said, then added. "Now give me a big smile, will you? You know you don't look good at all with bad mood and sad face." She told him and the way she told him that made him laugh naturally.

"Now I.don't have any objection about that. When do we meet again?" He asked, thick lashes masking his eyes.

She didn't reply but rather stood up, ready to go. He settled the bill and followed her as she preceeded out of the restuarant. They were silent as they walked to his car, just sharing a few glances and smiles.

"I'd call you." She gave him a brief answer, then stalked to the front passenger door and climbed into the seat and as he settled by her side, they pulled out into the heavy night traffic.

When they arrived at her place, it was already late. Cold dark, windy night was not something very ordinary for citizens of Karachi. He felt absolutely wonderful and romantic.

Stopping the car by the main gate of her house and turning off the ignition, he rested his arms on the steering wheel and drew a deep breath.

"I'd wait for your decision." He said.

She smiled and nodded, her lips trembling

He liked her wide, vivid smile.......lengthy flaxen locks of hair that fell nicely around her shoulders. Eyes that caught yours no matter where your gaze fell upon, and her irrestible aroma; that of a spring arrangement of the most exotic flowers.

"Look into my eyes. Will you?" He breath gently.

Slowly,.she turnes her face toward him. As she looked into his face she felt a quickening of her heart.

His big, gorgeous black, excited eyes stared deep into hers.

His closeness enfolded her in the potent male aura of his after-shave lotion so that she felt slightly light-headed.

"You know Komal," His voice was unbearably sensual at the moment. "When you love someone all your saved-up wishes start coming out." His masculine hand brushed a fine lock of her hair away from her face.

"Why did you fall in love with me?" She asked hesitatinly, her voice weak.

"It just happened. Like lightening, unpredictable and beautiful."

"And dangerous!" She added silently.

"I....I know."

He reached out and lifted her chin to meet her slightly glazed stare.

"You're crying?" He asked, noticing the tears in her eyes.

"Yes." She couldn't raise her head though.

"Why are you crying?" He asked again.

"I....I don't know."

Slowly, deliberately, he took her tearful face into his shoulder and ran his finger into her soft velvety brown hair.

"Anythung wrong? Hmm?"

"Nothing." She said. "Things have never been so right."

"So much beauty, Komal. You just.....are so delicate....so gorgeous."

Her breath had quickened and her blood felt warm enough to melt her veins. She felt the hair on the back of her neck almost prick. It took her a second to realize she was feeling the effect of his nearness, the breadth of his shoulders and the towering leanness of his maleness.

He ran his fingers through her hair. "Have I told you that I love your hair?" He asked.

"Not yet." Her face became redder.

"I like girls with long hair!"

"But mine are not long."

"Yes." He stroked her shimmering soft brown hair again. "Don't cut them from now on. Okay?"

"Not like that!" She blurted, smiling naughtily. "It's tough for a career woman to keep her hair long."

"And it's tough for a sensitive man to keep himself away from a desirable woman like you." He nuzzled her hair, breathing in her fragrance.

Her body ached for him, silently urging those magic fingers never to cease their play, to go on forever vibrating upon her hair.

But before she could enjoy it further, he disengaged his body from hers and slowly turned back to his driving seat.

"God." He murmured sharply. "I was acting like some silly teenager guy without control of hormones." He laughed huskily. "We didn't even realize that our car is parked in front of your house."

"It's okay." She smiled and combed her hair with her fingers.

"Take good care of yourself." He called as she opened the front door and climbed out of his car. "For me." He added.

She smiled and stopped, "You were wonderful tonight." She said and turned to go through the main gate.

Her dark brown hair was combed after she came out of the shower and right now was dried and falling about her face. Her thin, slim frame was wrapped in a loose bathrobe. She could see her reflection in the dining room mirror and she was pleased by what she saw.

As Komal brushed her hair, she smiled at her expression in the mirror, giving herself a critical look.

She had two black moles--beauty marks--on her face: one on her cheek and one on the side of her chin. Those were the marks she had always been proud of. They made her even more distinguish and feminine.

She brushed her hair back from her eyes. Her freshly washed hair smelled wonderful as the aroma of her shampoo settled around them. What anyone would notice first about her, however, were her eyes. They were soft brown and seemed almost too large for her face. Her eyelashes were unusually long, and her generously full lips seemed always to be wet, to have sheen to them. Her smoky, startingly brown eyes had a warm provocative look to them.

"What to wear tonight?" She asked herself, looking around for what she hoped would be something to really 'wow' him at their mutual date tonight. The long sleeved shirt-like dress she finally pulled out was made out of a silky material, sky blue in color. It was one of the most flattering dresses she owned, its light color, a complement to her dark brown hair.

She wore only a little makeup tonight although she didn't even need that. Just a little blush on, just a hint of pink showing through the velvety skin of her cheekbones and brown lipstick made her full, pouting lips more prominent.

She was givig herself a final, observatory look when the doorbell rang and she felt her heart begin hammering loudly. Quickly, but swiftly she reachd out to open the main door.

As Komal opened the door and smiled down at him, Aariz forgot to take breath.

He was truly struck by the stunning beauty of Komal. He had seen her irresistible charm and attraction, but never had he imagine that she would be so breath-takingly beautiful, charming and magnetic. Aariz was totally spellbound by the enchanting beauty of Komal today.

His black eyes warmed as they swept over her, and the familiar grooves dented his cheeks when he smiled.

"Hi, beautiful." Dark eyes crinkled at the corners, when he was able to speak finally.

Komal's heart started to race, as she blushed a bright red. She felt a little foolish, all these feelings, she felt like she was back in high school.

She surveyed the tall, handsome man standing before her, silent appreciation in her eyes. He was clean and the scent of his cologne was crispy masculine. Her wide brown eyes gazed downward over his broad shoulders and mascular chest, all encased in an impeccably tailored dark grey suit.

"Hi, good looking!" She giggled, brushing her soft, luxurious mane of hair carelessly with her left hand. "Shall we go now?"

In answer, he just motioned her towards his car, his eyes never leaving her for a single second.

As they walked to his car,.she was concious of Aariz's approving glance swerping over her. He had leaned across the seat and opened the passenger door for her so she could climb right in beside him.

They left for their favorite hotel. He said no more and neither did she, aware of him eyeing her speculatively as they drove the short distance to the hotel.

The porter welcomed them with a smile and nod of his head. Aariz stepped back to let her precede him into the hotel's restuarant. The restuarant was full when they entered it, and Komal saw two young women eye Aariz with evident interest. Seeing him through their eyes she had to concede he was worth looking at, his dark suit a foil fir, his black hair, sensual curve of his mouth.

She followed him to their usual table by the wall and sat down, avoiding his daring eyes as he took the seat opposite.

The headwaiter was there to greet them. "What do you recommend tonight, sir?"

"Ask madam," Aariz waved his hand towards Komal.

"Well", Komal thought for a moment. She tipped her head one side, a heavy mass of hair spilling over one shoulder. "Anything special in your menu tonight?"

"Madam we've excellent 'Chicken Karhaai', and 'Mutton Sajji' flown in from Quetta today. Grilled with butter, they can't be improved on." The waiter told her obediently.

"Sounds great." Before she could speak, Aariz interrupted. "Sajji Okay for you, Komal?"

"Umm, I'd prefer something lighter." She replied, as she fluffed out her long dark brown hair.

"Alright. Bring Sindhu Biryani and Chicken Karhaai with Afgan Naan and soft drinks." Aariz told him finally.

Nodding his head, the waiter stepped back.

"Do you think it's light?" She asked, amazed.

"What?"

"The menu you ordered. It's pretty heavy I think, specially for me."

"Oh." He laughed huskily. "Well dear, as long as you're in Pakistan, do enjoy it's food to the fullest. You won't get much chances afterwards."

She smiled but said nothing.

For a long moment, none of them said anything.

"So how was your day today?" She asked finally, breaking the thick silence.

He didn't reply. Instead, she saw Aariz was continously looking around them. Here and there, his eyes were everywhere but on her.

She waited, as if he would finally speak to her but his eyes didn't turn toward her.

She felt confused and frustrated.

"Aariz," She said sharply, when she couldn't take it anymore. "I can see we have a real problem here. You'll have to learn to speak when you're spoken to. I'm not used to people ignoring me when I talk."

He turned back toward her slowly and laughed softly.

"I was actually enjoying seeing the way people look at you." He said.

"Well," Komal stared, then stopped and tried again. "What do you mean the way people look at me?"

"You're the centre of everyone's attention and attraction right now." He told her proudly. "And I'm proud of the fact that I'm with the most beautiful lady."

She looked into his face and she knew his words were true.

"You praise too much." She said with artificial anger.

"I won't argue with you anyway." He sighed.

"You better not, as a woman has the last word in any argument " She grinned, winking delicately at him.

"And anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument." He gave his own point of view. Smiling back at her in the same manner.

She couldn't keep the laughter inside.

"grin....do you really think I'm pretty?"

"No...not really." He paused to watch her wide brown eyes darken with sadness. "I think you're beautiful!"

She giggled again and fluttered her lashes demurely.

"So," He took a long breath and bent toward her. "Last time you asked about me, now it's your turn."

"Turn for what?" She asked not getting him for a second.

"I want to know more about you."

"Oh," She sighed, the naturally red lips parted slightly, the deep brown eyes were half hidden beneath the smooth lids.

"I'm not much different from you when it comes to nature. I'm a fun-loving person too. Outgoing, career oriented. I want to be a lawyer." As she told him, he noted that her eyes had some special interest and ambition in them.

"I am appying for barrsiter ship and would do masters in law." She added with confidence.

"Wow." He exclaimed, looking clearly impressed. "Career women have always been my ideal. I'm always pleased when a woman achieves success, especially in a field too often dominated by men with inferior talents." He gave his personal opinion.

Throughout dinner, she chatted about her background, her aims about becoming a sucessful lawyer.

He loved listening to her low, edgy voice as she spoke of her job, her ambitions, her family and her hopes for the future. For just a second, he wished he did know a woman with a voice like that. Could spend an evening listening to that laugh, sharing a dinner and memorable moments.

It was only in the end when he came to the point, and this was the moment, for which both of them had waited for so long.

"Komal....." His tone changed suddenly, his voice a mere whisper, intense with emotion.

"I want to tell you something really important." His eyes looked deep into hers, and then moved over her whole being slowly.
