5. He came back after being pardon by Nigeria, contested and lost woefully even in his own village.

Unfortunately your parents have been lying to you about the Biafran war for so long now and its been affecting younger generations of Igbo and y'all are suffering from PTSD from a war you never even witnessed. What a pity.

1. Awolowo allowed a food corridor to be opened at first, but when he went as minister of finance to the war front to visit the soldiers on the battle field and he saw the pictures of starving Biafran civilians he was shocked and demanded to know what happened to the food and medical aid that was being sent by the international red cross and Caritas, a Catholic relief organization.

It was realized that Ojukwu was feeding his family and Igbo elites with the food, purposely hoarding the food items to prolong the war and starve his people so that the international community would take their sides.

Truly, if Awolowo had not ended the war, you won't be alive today insulting your saviour. Ironic, isn't it?


By the way, £20 was a lot of money in 1970.

1. Awolowo the astute politician used his position to make sure the people he represented in Western Nigeria had access to good qualitative education. That's why former president Jonathan admitted that the Yorubas are the most sophisticated ethnic group in Nigeria.



2. Awolowo as a great sage foresaw the destruction that would come about by a civil war and not only did he not lead his people into war with the Nigerian state, he warned Ojukwu to pursue dialogue instead of war. Ojukwu refused and over 1 million Igbos were killed in the war while Yoruba land kept on prospering. That's good leadership.



3. He quickly put an end to the civil war by preventing the enemy troops of Biafra access to food and weapons to prolong the war as it was common knowledge that Ojukwu was starving his people so he could use pictures of their malnourished bodies as propaganda to gain international pity and support.



4. Due to his starvation policy mentioned above, he was able to defeat the Biafran forces and put to and end a war that would have wiped out the entire Igbo ethnic group. On this account he is also known as the savior of Igbos.



5. Despite being labeled as the enemy of the Igbo people, he was the solitary voice in the government of general Gowon who spoke up for the Igbos and secured for them a hefty sum of £20 each to start afresh.



6. Also as minister of finance during the war, he barked forces that wanted to marginalize the Igbos after the war and he single handedly kept all the federal allocations due to Eastern Nigeria during the period of the war and gave it to the Igbos after the war.
So the little development you see in Igbo land is majorly due to the late sage, Awolowo.



5. He established the first television station in Africa in Ibadan when he was the premier of the Western region.



6. The great institution named after him, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, formerly UNIFE, was his brainchild.



7. Well we are just learning note again that he fostered deep economic ties with Israel for which the Jewish state are forever grateful to him and that's why he's being awarded by them posthumously 30 years after his death.



8. He that is popularly called THE SAGE has been referred to by his friend and enemies, Ojukwu included as the best President Nigeria never had.



So, instead of coming here to insult a man who died before you were even conceived and whose legacy is so huge that we are all taking a rest under its shade, why don't you go do something important with your life too so that people can also sing your praises.

1.) He named Nigeria’s national currency as ‘Naira’ when he was the Federal Commissioner for Finance. The late sage took the name of Nigeria and collapsed it as ‘Naira’

2.) Awolowo introduced free primary education for all and free health care for children in the Western Region.

3. )He established the first television station in Africa in 1959.

4. )He also erected the first skyscraper in tropical Africa:the Cocoa House (still the tallest in Ibadan).

5.) Awo as fondly called was conferred by President Shehu Shagari with the title of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), the first and only non-president to be so honoured in recognition of his sterling qualities and contributions to the service of the country.

6.) He was the first individual in the modern era to be named Leader of the Yorubas (Yoruba: Asiwaju Omo Oodua), a title which has come over time to be conventionally ascribed to his successors as the recognized political leader of the Yoruba peoples of Nigeria.

7.) The man widely believed by admirers to be the best President Nigeria never had was the first Leader of Government Business and Minister of Local Government and Finance and first Premier of the Western Region under Nigeria’s parliamentary system, from 1952 to 1959.

8.) In 1949 he founded the Nigerian Tribune, the oldest surviving private Nigerian newspaper, which he used to spread nationalist consciousness among his fellow Nigerians.

9.) The party he founded, Action Group was the first to move the motion for Nigeria’s independence in the federal parliament and he obtained internal self-government for the Western Region in 1957.


Now, kindly tell us what ojukwu achievements are. Even his biafra, he couldn't achieve it.

A young Nigerian lady, Aisha Kolere died in Abuja on April 21 following a long battle with leukemia, cancer of the blood.

The young lady according to her have gone through series of treatments to suppress the cancer which she was positively diagnosed to in 2016, but resurfaced in 2017.

She said she could neither play, go to school, move with friends, and other normal activities.

In her notes shared by LeukemiaAid, Aisha talked about her treatment and ended by saying: "I hope cancer gets cancer" then dies.
