Who is the man that we should take whatever he says as gospel truth? Anybody can make up a malicious lie to defame the government, it takes those that understand the system to debunk it. I attended a Lagos state school, my mum recently retired from one. Not once have we ever seen a situation where a non-indigene has been turned away.

I think the story is false, no person is ever barred from being admitted to a school rather there's an embargo on inter state school transfers. You need to see the number of easterners trooping to Lagos every term seeking inter state school transfers thus pushing unnecessary pressure on the schools facilities. it's this same person complaining that would beg that he doesn't mind the maid sitting on the floor if the school doesn't have enough furniture to accommodate the influx will also go online posting stories that students sit on the floor in Lagos school.
Why bring the poor girl to Lagos to be a maid than rather let her remain in the east and mount pressure on your governors to pay workers as at when due.

I have listed a little of the achievements and legacies of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the great sage and late but foremost leader of the Yoruba people.


This thread was created to celebrate him. So I won't derail it any further.


You can open another thread to celebrate the achievements and legacies of Ojukwu and Azikiwe if indeed you are intelligent. But I think we both can agree that they really don't have much achievements or legacies to celebrate.


And since they don't have let's all celebrate Awolowo, a man who was a[b] father to all Nigerians[/b] be you Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or any of the other over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria.


He's worth celebrating isn't he?

Awolowo has a great legacy. His son-in-law is the current vice President of Nigeria. That's a legacy.

The free education he brought to his Yoruba people in the west still makes the west the most sophisticated part of Nigeria till date. That's a legacy.


He is being given an award by the state of Israel over 30 years after his death. That's a legacy.


The Cocoa House he built with revenues from cocoa in the western region of Nigeria is still one of the tallest buildings in Ibadan. That's a legacy.


The Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, the first television station in Africa that he established is doing great and waxing strong. That's a legacy.


The Nigerian Tribune Newspaper he established is still very functional and disseminating news daily. That's a legacy.


Among so many other legacies he's left behind.


There's no need hating this man kiddo.


He's just way above someone you can vilify.


A man like this comes around only once in a hundred generations and I'm not surprised he was a Yoruba man.


Even Ojukwu would prostrate before him. Why not you?
