It depends on the bank and available rates. I've always held my investment to full term.

Thanks for the clarification…

Pls In percentage terms, what kind of spread usually exists between buying T-bills at primary rate versus secondary market rates ?

Exactly! You know how farms operate. You're not just a digital farmer/business person. You nailed it, I saw your response after I posted mine.
ositadima1:
I admit I didn't listen to the interview prior to my comment, but my point still stands: it is possible. My argument hinges on possibility. Here is why:

This scenario, where a palm farm capitalizes the palm trees and the buyers bear the cost of harvesting the fruits. Let's break down;

1. Capitalization of Palm Trees (Bearer Plants):

Under accounting standards like IAS 16 (Property, Plant, and Equipment) and amendments to IAS 41 (Agriculture), mature palm trees are generally classified as bearer plants.

Bearer plants are treated like fixed assets (like machinery in a factory). Their costs (planting, development until maturity) are capitalized on the balance sheet, and then depreciated over their useful life. This depreciation is an operating expense, not a cost of sales.

The fruits themselves (Fresh Fruit Bunches - FFB) are the agricultural produce. Under IAS 41, at the point of harvest, the FFB are measured at their fair value less costs to sell. This fair value then generally becomes the cost of the inventory of FFB. (Normal Case)

2. Buyers Bearing Harvesting Costs:
This is the critical element. If the contract with the buyer explicitly states that:

The buyer is responsible for sending their own labor and equipment to the farm to harvest the palm fruits.

The buyer bears all direct costs associated with this harvesting (labor, fuel, transportation from the field to their trucks).

The farm essentially sells the "standing crop" or the "right to harvest" the fruits on its trees.

In this situation, the farm's revenue comes from the sale of the fruits, but the direct cost of harvesting those specific fruits is not incurred by the farm.

Therefore, the farm would have:
1. Revenue: From the sale of palm fruits.
2. Zero Cost of Sales (for direct harvesting): Because the direct costs of harvesting were borne by the buyer.
3. Operating Costs: The farm would still incur significant operating costs related to maintaining the plantation.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by USA2019: 11:05pm On Jun 04, 2025
Depending on their arrangement and the off-taker agreement, the buyer may purchase the bunches on the tree and harvest them at their own convenience once granted access to the plantation. This is a common practice in the agricultural sector, particularly for crops like plantains, bananas, oranges, and mangoes. I'm only considering the possibilities, as we cannot outright dismiss their claim as false without further evidence.

Na Almighty God drop the FFB for Ellah like manna from heaven?

That's the approximate primary market rate, according to the last auction results that you uploaded. Most banks' secondary market rates will be lower than that. I think Stanbic IBTC has one of the best secondary market rates available. GTBank is dwindling in their services, I'll advise you to avoid them if possible.
Ivan18888888888:
Thanks so much for the response and getting back to me.
Pls Which banks offer the 19.4% rate? I’d like to spread the funds and not use just one bank.
Also, can I reinvest the ₦9.5 million?
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by USA2019: 3:24pm On May 30, 2025
You'd receive approximately N9.7M (N50M * 0.194), less fees and charges, at the time of investment. The true yield is 24.5%, representing your total gain or profit on the principal when you reinvest the paid interest immediately upon receipt.
Ivan18888888888:
So pls going by this

If I decide to invest 50 million annually

How much will be my profit then

Dumb as your moniker sounds!
Dum20:
With all your high IQ, the best you can do is to be spamming an investement thread for days now just to prove what? You are among the top people in the US and you have time to be arguing like a woman in an investment group.

Carry that your high IQ and enter studio with Davido lets see what it will translate to or enter pitch with Osimehm, let us see how well you will perform.

You have a doctorate degree, you are in the US and here arguing like a child to prove that you are right. Arguing with people of low IQ.

You high IQ tells you that you can change the low IQ to high IQ?

In your world people like Sabinus will die of hunger and would not be worthy to be in your presence.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by USA2019:
In case you comment was directed at me, I am not one of the people who left Nigeria and start criticizing the system, rather we've been speaking the bitter truth to people like like you before we departed decades ago.

And regarding your comment about someone saying his monthly salary can feed him, could you reveal to everyone the several bragging utterances the person you're defending spewed before he was put dead in his place with the factual statement? People like you will pervert a narrative just to deceive the gullibles and whip sympathy for your backward cause, just as politicians have mastered.
Dum20:
But you guys were the ones calling him out and making comments that sounded strange.

Someone said his one month salary would feed Streetinvestor for a whole year. The person needed to be put in his place.
Same for people that leave nigeria and start seeing Nigerians as dumb.

You said importers were to be blamed?

You fail to see they thrived on the failure of the government to provide solutions.

So people that import generators, solar power are destroying the country? Nigerians should wait for the governemnt to provide 24 hours power supply?

Importers thrive when there is a gap to be filled. Nature abhors vacuum.

If the textile industry were producing high quality products at affordable rates, the importers will go out of market and would not have a bussiness to do.

Same applies in all industries.

It's not difficult to see when an ignorant person is talking, so you don't have to waste your time disabusing his mind. The research was conducted by a British institution, yet they show that Japanese and Chinese generally have higher IQ than Europeans, including the British. Where is then the bias in that publication? Yes, racial bias exists, and I'm known to fight against it wherever I am, but it is not always the case, as evident in this case.
RodgersAkpafu:
Your sentiment MIGHT be a good rebuttal
It's oyinbo research
Most definitely it could contain bias

"The mean national IQ of Nigeria is 67.80. See page 131 of Richard Lynn & David Becker (2019). The Intelligence of Nations. Ulster Institute for Social Research, London GB ISBN 9780993000157.

This mean IQ is very low and is even below the mean of 70 for sub-Saharan Africa.

Nations in North America and Western Europe have means from about 97 to 101. Japan, China, and N. Korea have means of about 105."
